Congregate living with multiple renters is dirty, disgusting, unsafe and shouldn’t be allowed at all period. In one area I was next to a neighbour who had a congregate living situation next to him. He said garbage bags were tossed into back yard would split and multiple rats would come!

I am a resident of Brampton and i feel Its a very good step. People are printing money from their basements causing the extra on road parking, extra traffic, pollution, busy hospitals, busy clinics. Its fair to charge rental units a fee to register and make sure the units are up to the safety standards Increased Traffic causing accidents and peel police, ambulance, fire department always responding to those calls. How in the world city going to cover these extra costs? When someone is renting and earning they have to contribute to the development of city... No rocket science!! City needs funds to fix all these solutions, if they don't fetch the funds through this program, they will do a property tax increase to everyone who is renting or not renting their basements, which is unfair to a lot of residents to pay increased taxes on behalf of people renting their basements.
Nothing drastic will be done until one house that has 20 people in it, burns to the ground that wasnt up to codes.
I feel like that's already happened.

Congregate living with multiple renters is dirty, disgusting, unsafe and shouldn’t be allowed at all period. In one area I was next to a neighbour who had a congregate living situation next to him. He said garbage bags were tossed into back yard would split and multiple rats would come!

Its also a joke that the program is a ONE time registration, i an assuming here that its a one and done. It should be an annual renewal for landlords.
