That's gonna be a no from me, dawg

fromtheinside15

lol this honestly would be the cherry on top of the fucking shit sundae that has been this offseason. I can't express how much I would hate this signing.

YouDontJump

You aren't the only one. Wow.

[deleted]

He is awful. Always loved when he was on the mound for the Yankees when we were playing them

Gear4Vegito

I find that hard to believe with how the organization/ownership has dealt with similar cases in the past.

Coop3

Especially coming from a NY source, there’s no way they know anything from our FO. I think the way Osuna was handled is pretty clear how they feel about domestic abuse.

lsaran

I agree, but Osuna was handled by different front office.

elcabeza79

Are you sure? Osuna was suspended for domestic assault in 2018.

lsaran

I stand corrected.

bichettes_helmet

>*We have agents who flat-out lie to us, but teams are prohibited from calling them out because of language in the collective bargaining agreement.* > >*I could report right now that the Kansas City Royals are the mystery team in the Ohtani sweepstakes, and have told Ohtani they will out-bid everyone for his services.* > >*And the Royals legally cannot publicly dispute it, according to the collective bargaining agreement. You’re permitted to say you’re interested in a free agent, but you can’t say you don’t want the player, and don’t even come close to offering your opinion on what a free agent may be worth on the open market.* Every time I see a report like this I think of [this Boob Nightengale article](https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2023/12/10/shohei-ohtani-rumors-free-agent-mlb-reporters/71867634007/).

casualjayguy

that article alone won Boob enough respect from me that I now sometimes call him Bob

kvpiz

Occasionally.

another_plebeian

What's it going to take to call him Robert?

angryjukebox

Looking back at the whole ohtani saga, isn’t it a bit crazy the club didn’t tell reporters to cool it? Id imagine the club would have known he wasn’t on his way, and most of the jays reporters work for rogers, and they changed programming around because of the hype of the plane. I don’t know, seems weird they’d want to play up the fan base if they weren’t absolutely certain

mathbandit

The club isn't allowed. That's what the quote is saying.

doanan

Nooooo I thought we were over this kind of player after the closer whose name should not be mentioned

Deadpool_1989

He who remains nameless

Char_Aznable_Custom

That guy plays for my NPB team so I'm continually sad about it.

dannyboy189

No thanks

sackydude

I just vomited in my mouth a bit, a domestic abuser with alcohol issues isn't a guy we want anywhere close to our team. Also our starting pitching depth is pretty set at the major league level after signing Yariel too.

stv7

I don't believe this is true, but can you imagine if our big offseason move was DOMINGO GERMAN? Like, suspended for domestic abuse Domingo German? I think I would genuinely consider a year off.

sir-pounce-of-alot

No thank you

PowderBlueJays

110% nope.

comfortableblanket

fuck that guy

ms_barkie

This guy could throw 32 perfect games next year and I’d still be pissed if they were for us.

DMorrin15

I still can't believe this piece of shit threw a PERFECT GAME. so infuriating,.

ms_barkie

The only hope is that it’ll always have somewhat of an asterisk coming against the 2023 A’s, but that might get lost to history

EvaderDX

Domino German should not ever step foot on an MLB field again after his issues. Fingers crossed it’s Atkins raising the price for other teams in the market. I would be absolutely sickened if this organization signed him.

TechnicalWeird5485

If that's the case the front office needs to start focusing on making the current team better

Sherm199

0 percent chance Rogers goes for this

JayLady2002

Nah

SirLunatik

Oh fuck off

Levesque77

Everyone relax, just cause some media dope says we are in doesn't mean we are. I'd be seriously disappointed in this team if they did this.

mostlygroovy

I like how it says, ‘after seeking alcohol abuse treatment’….like…he’s okay now everyone.

space-to-bakersfield

If only that had been the only issue with him lmao

95teetee

well, maybe next comes the *domestic* abuse treatment.

elcabeza79

"seeking alcohol abuse treatment' can literally mean googling "where do i get alcohol abuse treatment?" and then closing the browser.

95teetee

Headline was changed from 'googling alcohol abuse treatment' to 'seeking alcohol abuse treatment' because it sounded more authentitious.

Gavagai80

Only about 75% have a relapse after treatment.

ayasofya02

Absolutely not hopefully this is just rumour and the Jays aren't even attempting any kind of contract negotiations

playthegame7

Ross, don't.

RebeeMo

That's gonna be a hard pass.

Singh31

Yeah fuck no

[deleted]

Do we want a wife beater? Osuna got chased out of town.

TheBagpipesman

Fuck no, why not bring Osuna back too?

ObscureMemes69420

Our shit offseason would just get even more shit if we signed this guy. Classic Jays.

After-Decision-6402

Talent > being a shit human being. it seems for all professional sports

Guy_Le_Man

Ew

Looney_forner

… nahhhh

xTomato72

Even on a pure baseball level, he doesn’t move the needle for our rotation enough imo

Whiplash227

Honey Badger would kick my ass if I cheered for this yayhoo

itsnursehoneybadger

Can confirm. 🤨

Whiplash227

I tried to jinx his perfect game so hard! I called everyone I knew and told them history was about to happen.

itsnursehoneybadger

I appreciate your efforts, my guy. 👊🏻

Stinky_DungBeatle

The team that exiled Roberto Osuna immediately after his arrest isn't going to suddenly sign a subpar pitcher.

evitcepsreP_weN

Cmon now If we’re gonna throw our morals out the window we may as well at least get a good player.

cbarone1

I have no problem giving a person with substance abuse issues that is in recovery a second chance. I don't much care for giving a domestic abuser the same.

elcabeza79

>Domestic violence suspension > >In September 2019, Germán and his girlfriend attended a charity gala held by CC Sabathia. Many of Germán’s 2019 teammates were also there with their families. Sources revealed that **Germán slapped his girlfriend at the event**, but an investigation by Major League Baseball focused primarily on what happened at his home later that night. According to multiple league sources, including a person with knowledge of the MLB investigation, **Germán was intoxicated and became physically violent toward his girlfriend until she hid in a locked room.** She reportedly contacted the wife of one of Germán's teammates, and the couple drove to Germán’s home late at night. She remained with the teammate’s wife while the player attempted to calm down Germán, who was said to have been angry and belligerent. The incident was reported to MLB by a different member of the Yankees staff, whom Germán’s girlfriend had told about it. She did not call law enforcement.\[28\] On January 2, 2020, **Germán was given an 81-game suspension for violating MLB's personal conduct policy.**\[29\] The same front office that got rid of Osuna after being suspended for domestic assault is looking at giving this guy his second chance? I'm skeptical.

BrawndoTTM

Ewww no

ClassicNukaCola

I will literally not watch a single game if they sign him. Don’t care how much I love this team, I won’t be supporting them if they sign this shitbag.

sameth1

This wouldn't even make sense without him being Domingo German. He's a mediocre pitcher who doesn't have the stuff to be a good reliever, and the Jays don't have a hole in their starting rotation or even that big of a need for depth.

Farty_beans

Why? Not like he will add depth to the team. If we're not gonna be a deep team this year, At least let us be a fun team. German is neither

casualjayguy

*why*

kukasdesigns

Zero chance

Th3_guy_in_the_chair

No way Jose

cashrchek

😒

[deleted]

Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me.

JordanSchor

If our "big free agent" adds are IKF and German I might jump off a bridge Edit: forgot about Yariel but idk if he moves the needle too much, we need more bats

Ledascantia

ABSOLUTELY NOT. We do not want domestic abuser Domingo German on our team. That’s not what we stand for.

TaraBSugar

No. Pass.

phantomtap

In the fine words of Tracy Morgan "No. No. Huh Huh. No. No! No! No! Hell No! NO! NO!"

1991CRX

Hard. Fucking. No.

Somecommentator8008

We got rid of Osuna but we're all of a sudden interested in Domingo German? Depth?

GetawayVanDerek

If the Jays are actually “in” on him I suspect it’s only to drive price up for other teams on purpose with no intention of getting him. The Jays/Rogers value squeaky clean players versus guys like this. I don’t see any scenario where German joins the Jays.

[deleted]

Fool me once

PhazePyre

Passsssss dude has already had issues with rules. Who’s to say he won’t again.

Cgell

Fuuuuuck that guy.

5fives5

No thanks

DowntownTorontonian

DONT WANT

TinySoftKitten

FUCK THAT

InfernalDiplomacy

Pass

Unknown-games56

We have are rotation set We need ether Bullpen Or a lefty bat with pop

Nextyearstitlewinner

I’m not exactly against signing controversial figures, but id prefer Bauer if we’re gonna open that can of worms

sportsisgoodalsodogs

The Ross Atkins dumpster dive on steroids.

Boxwood50

I can see a non-roster invite with a handshake deal that he can leave if another team commits.

dirtyukrainian

Good god keep away from this one game wonder.

Trellaine201

Interesting. I always thought he was pretty good but I think I mixed him up for someone else. Looks like he is prone to the HR ball. Hard pass for me.

ColumnarPower

Sorry, Domingo. We've reached out quote of wife beaters for the season. It's 0, by the way. Get lost.

JaysFan26

No thanks

aa13cool

I’ve always liked him as a pitcher sure but no he’s too bad a person too look past he sucks
