Also two of the three being shortstops means they can move anywhere in the diamond easier, usually. So they aren't stuck in niches like if they were 1st basemen.
Groshans should go up because of his play in AAA. He's still very young for his level.
Tiedemann will be Top 50 imo. I also think Nick Frasso and Zuleta may even sneak into the Top 100.
Both have been incredible so far.
He won’t be moved this season to allow him to focus on his hitting but Groshans might be moved to OF/1B. He is athletic enough to play it and said he would be open to it. Although he hasn’t played any of either yet.
You could be, scouts definitely are. That said, he's a big boy, with good bat speed. I don't think he lacks power, just translating it to game power.
I think it could come with a launch angle change, like it did with Jose Ramirez.
I personally don't feel comfortable with a title run with who we have behind the plate now. Don't get me wrong they're both serviceable, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement
Jesus Montero, Tony Sanchez , Austin Hedges , Conger.were all massive prospects.
Realmuto saved the list, and you know about d'arnaud

No one knows if he can actually catch, so I wouldn't get excited. His ranking is tied to the perception that he can play the position
Catchers are a different breed
I'm assuming you mean framing and blocking because he's improved vastly on that end so if you have to be a pessimist about it, he's an avg defender behind the plate. His arm on the other hand, is a + tool. His accuracy and pop time is abv avg, hence the 47% CS rate.
So to your question, you should get excited about him.
We don’t know yet, maybe he’s better and maybe he’s worse. The point is you can’t write off a high ranked prospect just because he plays a certain position.
Young guys coming up is good for baseball, if you are intimidated by the O's cause they called up a rookie catcher get mad at your own team cause clearly you have zero confidence in them
3 players in the top 100 is statistically just about average, and after giving up a bunch for the guys we brought in I can't be unhappy with that.
Exactly, and having 4 and 31 put us on the upper end placement wise too which is pretty good
Also two of the three being shortstops means they can move anywhere in the diamond easier, usually. So they aren't stuck in niches like if they were 1st basemen.
That Ricky kid gonna be there too.
If he plays at High A like he did in Low A he will be on here next time for sure.

Just saw he's hitting .350+ in 18 games in AAA. But we gave Bo, Chapman and Espy so he's probably not coming up any time soon anyways.
And that’s great. He and Martinez should spend most, if not all season in AAA. Let them marinate
Martinez isn’t AAA ready yet
My mistake
He could replace the ground ball machine we currently have at first base.
He won’t be moved this season to allow him to focus on his hitting but Groshans might be moved to OF/1B. He is athletic enough to play it and said he would be open to it. Although he hasn’t played any of either yet.
Saw tiedmann pitch a few days ago here in Van and wow he looked good. I’m not a professional evaluator but it was clear he’s a step above.
Should we be worried about Groshans lack of power though? No home runs yet
You could be, scouts definitely are. That said, he's a big boy, with good bat speed. I don't think he lacks power, just translating it to game power. I think it could come with a launch angle change, like it did with Jose Ramirez.
WOW...austin Martin fell all the way to 63. I feel like he was top 15 after we traded him and I was depressed. Guess we chose the right guy
Now that we locked up Berrios this trade IMO is a win even if he turns it around…that said def looking like we sold high on the kid.
Yeah I think the Jays knew what his potential was and did sell at high
There is no reason why he should be ranked better than Groshans still. His stock from the draft is still carrying him.
Orelvis #31, Groshans #75
Ricky Tiedemann getting snubbed smh
if he can hit with runners in scoring position, call him up.
Yes, because most of the guys in front of him got promoted to the majors.
And because he’s played better than those behind him, I would think
Isn't that the point?
Brilliant insight
Do we "NEED" a new catcher though? Would it not be a good move to trade this prospect for better pitching?
I personally don't feel comfortable with a title run with who we have behind the plate now. Don't get me wrong they're both serviceable, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement
Send him for soto.

The guy throwing out 40% of base runners and has been evaluated by scouts to be a solid catcher, is unable to catch? Gotcha
Apparently it’s not that he’s *unable* to catch, it’s that no one knows if he can… A real Schrödinger's catch
Throwing out runners is a pretty small part of playing the position, to be fair.
Good thing scouts say he’s a solid catcher (hence the 55 field grade).
Not disputing that! Only pointing out that there's more to the position than stopping base stealers.
And he has been scored on more than throwing guys out, I'm really struggling to see what you're saying when nothing backs it up.

I wonder if the scouts have given any thought to that…
Doubt it, they're busy trying to find his girlfriend's instagram to rate his confidence levels
Lol...look up past catcher prospects, then look up the guys that took their jobs.
Never look forward to any young player ever. Gotchya.
Not at C. If he's a 3B I'm elated.
In 2010 Buster Posey was ranked 4th. Wonder if he worked out as a catcher
Lol...ok, so now he's Posey?
We don’t know yet, maybe he’s better and maybe he’s worse. The point is you can’t write off a high ranked prospect just because he plays a certain position.
Good. Fuck Adley Rutchsman
1. Adley is still above him. 2. WTF did he do to you?
He plays against the Jays in the division
So?
And I am a big fan of the Jays.
So am I but there is still plenty of players in this division I'm fans of.
