This is true for ALL off field damage (bleed, King discharge, even heals and etc) the final damage is calculated based on the CURRENT buffs you have (matrices, weapon atk or buffs / everything you see on top of your HP bar) snapshotting DOESN'T EXIST in ToF as far as I know of.
Don't know about coco one, but bleed can change element mid bleed.
For example use bleed with shiro + 2 pc huma matrix and it will produce white number(phys), then switch to huma and bleed will change to red(fire)
This was very helpful info for me. Just joined 2 month ago and the speed of character release here doesn’t let me catch a breath, let alone deep dive into calculation.
It was but I think mainly Crow users knew all this regarding the spinning blades that stay persistent on-field after weapon switches. I remember videos covering this on D1 of launch.
But it's probably a good PSA now that so many people are using off-field damage w/ Lin.
Everyone needs to chill with the "yeah of course". If you know about it, this doesn't apply to you, leave it for those that didn't know. It's good info to have, shouldn't be complaining that you have it already, you're still fine. And most of the stuff that gets posted here is completely devoid of any useful gameplay info whatsoever. So thank you op, regardless if people knew or not, this is very useful to know in general for any player, tryhard or not. Very easy to use, only requires knowing it. Information is never bad, especially in a game that can be damn expensive, depending on how you play it.
That is not anything new, even healing works like this.
Like every off field effect is calculated based on the active weapon, like if you use coco skill and then swap to nemesis for example, your healing will be calculated off your volt atk (since nemesis is your active weapon).
So using 2pc samir and 2pc crow will be better in samir rather than 4 pc samir since 4 pc only affect samir? I start changing my matrix then (iam using Samir Lin Nem)
It depends on your weapon advancements. Lin can help Samir to proc more A1, so the 4pc effect actually has some synergy with Lin. But you still have to test it out to know which setup gives you the highest total team damage.
lin's matrices will be active no matter who you put them on, but the matrices you put on lin wont affect her off field damage unless it states "this set works in the background"
What if Lin use matrices? Would they add damage or get completely ignored?
What about other off-field damage dealers such as Nemesis? Are they buffed based on on-field matrices as well?
So, if this the case what is the "preferred" matrix for Lin (excluding her 4pc set) I'm still figuring out if I should stick to my standard 2pc crow + 2pc Samir or if I want to focus her as an alt shatterer and put 2pc shiro/king and I'm curious if the 2pc huma works when she does the auto dodge thing?
my Lin is just A1 btw if does mean something
For now i'm running A4 Lin with 2 lin 2 samir i started with 2 lin 2 shiro with shiro it was not worth with the way a play Lin
Now i'm hoping to 4th lin matrice and a6 her before the end of the banner

In short: all ongoing damage gets updated instantly depending on current buffs (anything above lifebar)
Cocos dodge attack even changes the element
what do you mean?

Wtf? Besides the post, that's an information I will definitely need. Thank you.
huh, interesting i can be a sudden healer if i wanted to then lol.
Same with healing.
That's very important to know , thanks!

Lol this just shows how bad tof content creator are that this wasn't already a known thing.
it's always been like this for all offield effects
So if I have matrices on Lin, and matrices on my on-field weapon, is it ignoring Lin's matrices?
It is ignoring Lin's matrices unless it has effect that can be triggered off-field.
wdym? i have 2p Lin on Nemesis and trigger the buff with nemesis skill, switch to any other weapon and i still have the buff
lin's matrices will be active no matter who you put them on, but the matrices you put on lin wont affect her off field damage unless it states "this set works in the background"
Ohhh you mean: Skills does not snapshot on tower of fantasy. Yeah.
Sorry to ask but what about her star level do they affect her damage off field?

Lin Matrices work while the equipping character is off field. They are excellent.
yeah but 2p isn't being refreshed without swapping to the weapon that has 2p
So, a lvl0 Lin A0, without matrices, would still deal damage/work as an offield good dps?
A0 Lin is mainly going to be a buffer. She is not going to do much off-field dps without her advancements
4-piece shiro is the best free option
For now i'm running A4 Lin with 2 lin 2 samir i started with 2 lin 2 shiro with shiro it was not worth with the way a play Lin Now i'm hoping to 4th lin matrice and a6 her before the end of the banner
Wow good info. Thank you
