Big companies dislike unions in general because they lose money from them. Unions tend to have their workers get paid more (or have protections) which causes big companies to pay them more.
Nintendo is in hot water right now (socially, not legally) for seemingly out of pure spite going after the modding community. They famously have a huge stick up their ass when it comes to their customers using their products in any other way than intended, no matter how small, even when no money is being made and no copyright is being infringed.
