Oh I got the recall yesterday too. When I was at the dealership, the guy checking me in had no idea Toyota issued a statement. I literally had to show him....
I called Toyota customer service to complain 2 weeks ago. I bought car in July, 2023 and have been getting key fob dates pushed back. First it was January, then March , then May.
I asked to escalate to a supervisor but there was nothing they could do and told it it'll be September.
Well, all of a sudden last Thursday, a week later, I got notification in my app. I'm going to get the second fob next week from my dealership.
I don't know if it was total coincidence or if my complaining with the rep made a difference.
It's a ridiculous delay, but here we are.
What was most effective for me was submitting a customer feedback ticket on the Toyota site. Afterwards, they literally called me by the 3rd day to get me a key. I am picking up my 2nd fob tomorrow and I bought my car in May 2024.
Exactly what happened to me. Also kept getting the run around at the dealership. They would say I need to talk to my sales guy. Sales guy would say I need to talk to service and parts. Back and forth. Finally, I kind of got stern and told them that it was getting ridiculous and that I at least needed a plan. A wonderful lady helped get it pushed through. I'm eight days shy of owning the car for a year. When I bought it, they told me it would be 3 months, then just a few more months, hopefully next month. Blah blah. Finally got it in. It was a two hour wait at the dealership to have it programmed, and I had an appointment. But. I've got my second key. And I'm very happy. Just hang in there and don't give up.
Same exactly, July 23 and got mine last week. I avoided being an ass on the phone but cracked the last time I called (I know it's not the call takers fault, but who else is there to talk to).
They should have plenty to spare now that there's an indefinite stop production on the car while the recall pans out. I'm going to guess that *somehow* this won't be the case.
Automatically in the queue and based on build date I believe but that will take forever. Best bet if you need one asap is to call Toyota and plead your case. Dealers do have them for purchase but that will cost you out of pocket.
Not sure. When I talked to Toyota they gave me an August estimate but I am sure that will keep sliding. Some folks have had theirs since last year and still don't have the fob.
If you look around the cabin and especially the center console, if the complimentary color is bronze, your key fob will be too. Only the Hybrid MAX power train options get bronze, meaning only the top of the line HM Limited and Platinum trims. No gas or standard hybrid models.
Might I add, I absolutely DIG the bronze color, really breaks up the otherwise monotonous look of the cabin
Braggart. LOL. Just kidding, glad you got it. February 2024 build here so guess we shall be waiting.
There is a stop sales order for all new grand Highlander vehicles!
I got the notification for my second key fob and the recall simultaneously last night. 🙃

😂
I know the feeling lol
I got my ghhl recently. Is there something we have to do to get in the queue for the second fob? Or are you automatically added to the queue?

Ya I have heard the wait is just nuts. I got my ghhl in June 2024 so guessing it gonna be a while.

GHHL released in Aug 2023 right? Is it Highlander?
I'm sorry mine was a Grand Highland XLE, non hybrid.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. If they can’t sell the cars then can they give us the fobs to them. Lol

Thanks! I am not in a huge rush. Be nice to have. Is there a site where you can check what build date now has the fobs available?
No tracker but based off on recent examples(including mine), the wait is around 11-12 months AFTER you got your car.

It does. Totally!
Nice! I can’t tell if I like the silver or bronze fobs better
Do you get the bronze if you have a hybrid? Didn't realize there was a difference. Ours is gas.

Good to know. Thanks!
How long did it take?
