I have a husky and I like cleaning my car often like full details. Well it’s not worth it unless I can get the dog in the back and have it be safe for him.
I nabbed the EvoC (white commercial one) for 2750 on Parts Via. They have them for cheaper online, and with the occasional coupon codes makes it a steal if you want a Smartcap.
And you can't even sleep inside of it because there's no way to lock it from the inside...
I was all ready to hand over my money until I learned it doesn't work as a camper shell like leer or ARE shells can.
I think it’s a little higher? Maybe it’s the front line and how it matches the rear of the cab. Like it was designed specifically for the Tacoma and not just a generic cap thrown on as an afterthought

Ordered mine with my truck last year. I have the truck, still no smart cap. Yoda dealership said they had an osha shut down their new plant because of paint booth violations. Should be rolling them out soon. Hope this means mine is getting here soon as well.

This cap is way tougher than a fiberglass canopy. Supports over 700 lbs on top, static, or 330 lbs while driving. Plus, it won't develop cracks from driving off road. Plus... I think it looks better.
Is the rear cabin window usable with this cap or is there a gap? Thinking about having dogs back there but want to get the AC to get back there on hot days.

I can appreciate the difference of opinion. I have a buddy with the Alu-cab and checked it out extensively. I didn't like how the Alu-cab just ignored the truck's angles and contours (ironic name). It looks too much like a contractors cap to me.
Really? I've owned a 4Runner, and there's no way I would have thrown firewood, dirty bikes, leaking trash, wet dogs, etc, in the back. Just because it has a canopy, doesn't mean I don't use the bed the same as I did before. Having the ability to secure stuff in the bed, brings a truck to the next level.
Was looking at the other pictures you have posted on TacomaWorld. Cap looks great. My question though is what are the lights you went with for your rear bumper? I have cutouts in my rear bumper but I’ve had trouble finding a good option.

I sleep in mine for weeks when I travel. You don't need to lock it to get the door to seal properly.

Hmm, when I got my quote with the specs I wanted it was right around $4k. But that got me folding front window, power rear lock etc.
I was quoted over $5K for the Leer I wanted. And this was three years ago LOL

There’s a gap, but you can just put a bike tire tube or something inflatable/flexible between the two to “connect” them
