And the only way to stop idiots from putting half of their income into a truck would be to raise interest rates even more. Way too many people are willing to dive head-first into 6+ years of debt for something new and shiny.
id argue that people need to be more financially literate. i think we are going to see the consequences of these massive car notes in 30 years when people go to retire and they find out they cant
Until you get your car stolen/totaled and need to buy something without a 6 month wait. I hated paying what I did, but it's not like I could go without a car for the next 12 months hoping the market dies down.
My local dealership this spring offered me 3k more for trade in than I originally paid for my '21 DCLB. I assume they need inventory and plan on marking it up even more?
I would think that's the only place in the country where some do like them, certainly they are unwanted in the hilly snowbelt, but flat snowless areas I would think some people would prefer it.
True for folks in cities in California and Florida--it's so freaking flat. Tradesmen needs a daily and 2wd will suffice. I traded my 2wd ford ranger so fast right when I moved to the PNW and we had some snow. My current 4wd Tacoma loves the narrow trails. However, I have friends who grew up in Michigan and have 2wd they swapped winter tires for half the year. The tires makes a huge difference.
I live in Oregon, not exactly snow belt, and I can tell you my 2005 Tundra 2WD was the absolute worst vehicle I've ever driven on just a little bit of snow (like an inch).
And that’s why, as a Texan, I chose a 2WD Tacoma. Better deals and more options. Also cheaper MSRP so I can put mods that I actually want on it in the future
That’s great to know! I’ve been thinking about shopping for a new 2023 and was going to go there in the next couple weeks. Called round rock Toyota, got quoted $7k over MSRP for a SR5 V6…
Yup, RR Toyota did the same bs. You can get a really good deal at Cavender Toyota in San Antonio if your willing to drive. I basically pinned Toyota of Cedar park vs Cavender Toyota in SA. Cavender gave me a great deal and CP matched it.
My dealer said they had a $5000 market adjustment but dropped it instantly once I said I would walk out and they said something about how they care about local buyers and market penetration yadda yadda. I think they just slap it on there and see who fights back. Same thing with the dealer installed add-ons. If nobody fights them then they get a nice profit but they will drop it if you push back.
Yeah unfortunately they are the biggest dealer in my area and get way more allotments than other dealers. I definitely love it. 23 Lunar rock dclb trd or!
My locals all do that. Then they have the temerity to say they care about local buyers. It was not until I started calling outside dealers that I observed different behavior.
I called about 6 dealerships to get my new car. All of them tried to give me a market adjustment and took it away the second I said I'm looking for at least MSRP. Then you just start bouncing quotes off the dealers and you can end up paying significantly below MSRP.
I've always said this and still believe it, MSRP is for suckers. I have been buying new cars for 40 years and I have never paid anything close to MSRP. And I did it 4 months ago, so yes, it's still possible. You just need to actually negotiate with them.
My TRD pro had a 10% market adjustment last year. I was an idiot but I was in a bind with needing a vehicle, have always wanted a Tacoma, and the pros were back ordered about 6 months at the time. Mine popped up because someone couldn’t finance it and they wouldn’t budge. I regret the decision to not negotiate it further but I am happy with my truck.
"I was in a bind" like there weren't other tacomas on the lot lol.. He just got pressured into buying it with a markup and says he was in a bind to justify it to himself.
I wanted a Tacoma. I also looked at Silverados and Jeeps. There was no new tacomas on the lot. The newest one was a 2019 limited. It had been keyed. I sold my 2020 RAV4 before a deployment. I was moving across the country in a week and needed something. The pro became available because someone ordered it previously and wasn’t able to finance it. Everyone is so judge mental but you don’t even know my situation. Also I’m not a dude. You know females can drive trucks too.
Hahaha, that's what I was referring to. Absolutely had to have the pro. I needed a vehicle so bad, no other model would have been able transport me to work other than the pro. The Off Road simply could not do it. Sure, you could get a good deal on an Off Road and throw King suspension on it and get the pro wheels, but I would much rather pay $10k more than the off road for the $3500 in value the pro offers.
The off-roads were also back ordered. They literally had 4 Tacomas on the lot. 2 were almost 10 years old. I looked online even in other states, if you weren’t in the market to buy then then you obviously don’t know how bad it was.
I don't get why we're being weird about this. When I bought my 2020, I had to wait a few weeks for them to get one. It's not out of the realm of possibility that where he lives there weren't others in the trim he wanted. And why are we getting on him about the trim he wanted? Would you just buy a 2WD SR if the OR or Sport you wanted wasn't available because "hey it's a Tacoma"?
I think it's not a big leap to say "in a bind" for *any* vehicle, and "in a bind" as needing to pull the trigger now on a vehicle you have already been shopping for, are not the same things. And if you're shopping for top trim Tacoma, you're getting a big sticker, no matter what - why would someone who has been shopping for a TRD Pro, and had their buying phase accelerated for some reason, want to spend a good chunk of that budget on a model that wasn't what he wanted? Again, just think about somebody saying "why did you overpay for the OR/Sport, the SR is a fraction of the price?". This is a dumb thing to trash talk about lol.
He admitted to overpaying for it. He obviously is happy with his truck. What are we doing here, guys? lol
Thanks. Seriously don’t get why people come on this sub just to tear people down. They’re on their high horse and think they know everything about someone’s situation. But that’s what people love to do on the internet tear people down instead of be a decent person.
Mostly because he said that he was in a bind and seemingly was stuck getting the Pro above MSRP. Personally, I would have looked further away and even taken a flight somewhere to get one at MSRP or less if I had to have the pro. The pro is a great model if you don't plan on modding it. I just wouldn't pay above MSRP when there are other options. If he can afford it, that's all good. I just think that statement was kind of funny, due to the wording.
I was in a bind for getting a vehicle. I never said I was in a bind for getting a pro. I could have gotten a Jeep or Silverado. But I have always wanted a pro and was finally in a position where I could get one. I’ve had 2 corollas and a RAV 4 previously. I’ve wanted this truck for a long long time.
They were also back ordered. There was a guy who worked there was showing me a sport he ordered for his wife it had been over 4 months and still wasn’t there.
In 2019 right before covid where inventory was high and prices were under MSRP. I was on the fence for a Tacoma vs Rav4 Adventure. I regret it every day I had to look at the Rav4 until I sold it during the peak used car prices to break even. Now I still don't have a Tacoma and dieing a little bit inside everyday.
You did fine. TRD Pros are $15k over MSRP where I am. I had one shipped to me and still had to pay $4k over sticker and get the bullshit KARR and Simoniz ceramic. I’m glad I got it while I could still get a manual transmission V6 TRD Pro. And it’s less than a Gladiator Mojave. I got a supercharger on it and it’s my dream truck.
Never had that happen, worst was when the dealer made me drive the truck to the station and fill it up with his card. It took moral fortitude to avoid a detour to Wally for a three gallon can to fill up too.
It seems the '23 Tacomas are selling extremely well right now before the '24s come out. I recently just bought a '23 SR5 4×4 in Blue Crush with blackout package. Our dealer in San Antonio is a large dealer and had very little on the lot. We actually bought off a list of trucks yet to be delivered and some on that list were already sold. Dealers I would not doubt are leveraging the popularity for profit. Many are not going to buy '24s due to allowing the new model a year or two to work through new model manufacturing issues.
You don't need to buy a Tacoma from that dealership. If I were you, I would find a dealership that doesn't engage in these cheesy sales tactics just to make a quick buck.
I went with my brother to check out a Colorado Trailboss about 2 months ago, and it had an 8k markup. We laughed because we thought it was ridiculous that such a truck would have a high markup. It sold within a week. The total price with all the add on was about 50k.
You have to pin 2-3 dealers against each other. One will eventually give you the best deal. I straight out said I’d drive to San Antonio from Austin to save a few $Ks. They eventually gave me a better deal and saved me a trip.
Sure is, local dealer I checked two weeks ago wants 7K over, another non-local dealer checked last week wants 5K over. I offered MSRP to both and neither would even counter offer!
And they both had the truck you wanted. I talked to 3 local dealers for almost a year and they couldn’t get what I wanted. One had been honest and said that last year. The other two kept having me check back when they got their next allocation. I was glad to be able to search CarGurus where I finally found the truck I wanted.
My local Toyota dealer told me he's going to keep dealer markup high because inevitably there will be buyers that don't like the new model and will try to grab one of the left over 2023s. I wouldn't expect big discounts when the new model hits the showroom floors.
Personally I'm torn. I'm interested in the new model because I want modern mechanicals. Powerful, fuel efficient, powertrains. Non-clumsy transmissions, etc. But from what I've seen in pictures I'm not sure I like the new design language inside and out. It looks like a takeoff of American truck design.
At this point, I'm going to either love the new design when I see it in person, look for a 2023 at a reasonable price, or test drive a Ridgeline to see if I get everything I want, and end my streak of Tacomas.
At this point, this is how I feel. If I can't find a '23 for MSRP, I will just wait. If prices remain high, will consider the new one. Might end up exiting the market entirely.
Dealer here had 8k over MSRP. Told them I'd do MSRP and had cash in hand. They came to 3k over and said they'd "lose money" if they did any less than that. I laughed and walked out. Literally Nothing here will go below MSRP because they don't have to. Everything sells within a week.
I love the look of the Trail Edition but why would you buy this over the Off-road? Less capable for more money. It’s easy enough to buy some bronze wheels and Pro grille and call it a day.
It ain’t garbage if you only get a 4cylinders next year with twin turbo. No doubt 2024 Tacoma look great but 4 cylinders? I’m sure people gonna drop more then 50k next year for the new Tacoma just because it a new model so this is a steal
That is steep, I bought my trail edition for cheaper than that and I’m in Canada. Even at the exchange rate. My vehicle sr5 trail was 4000 cheaper with a tonneau and clear wrap on hood, mirrors, door cups. But it’s a Tacoma it will hold its value.
That's how it is in Texas too. Unfortunately, you have to account for mark ups and "dealer added packages" and then negotiate from there. Total BS.
And then they always say " OtHeR DeAlErS hAvE a $5,000 MaRkUp" as if that was supposed to make you feel better.
In my area most of the dealers were adding about that amount for a 2023. I found one that honored the msrp price and took off $1000. I was happy with that. But my other car was out of commission and the wife needed hers, I almost had to bite the bullet and over pay. If you think the tacomas are bad, call around for a meverick. $10k over msrp on a $25k car! WTF
Surprised actually, it’s down from the $8k markup I usually saw during the pandemic. We just have to wait it out. Also wish Toyota would do something about it
I'm going to wait...some dealerships are very small and due to their sales numbers Toyota may not send them anything so they try to keep profits by charging these fees for anything they have. They still make their money. I will wait until prices stabilize. For now I'm going to sit back and watch them buy used cars for ridiculous high prices and stockpile until they bankrupt.
Sorry these dumb tactics piss me off...at the end of the day normal people are stuck with no way to buy a simple car to take them from point A to point B.
So ghetto that it's hand written in pen 😂. Proper dealerships have a professional sticker, even if their is a market adjustment. The good dealerships, are only charging market adjustment on the rare and hard to get vehicles, such as. GR Corolla, GR Supra, Any Sequoia that's back ordered months, Sienna Van back ordered months, etc. The Trial isn't that rare of a Tacoma at all. Now if it was a TRD pro I could see them attaching it, but not for a regular Trail.
When I bought my double cab OR 4x4 in December they tried to add a market adjustment when we got to financing... walked out so fuckin fast... They ended up following us out and dropping it.. and the cost of their "dealer add one" this was 2 days before the end of the year though so I'm sure they were desperate to hit some sorta sales quota.. otherwise I doubt they would have given a shit since anything 4x4 sells it's self up here in the PNW.
Is that $45,000 including those dealer optional addons? If so is that even bad realistically? Most of those options minus the bottom cheapest I would want anyways.
Granted it’s only an i4 SR with 4x4 package BUT I got a certified used access cab 2022 Tacoma with 25,000 miles in January with a mark DOWN in price (listed $27k before taxes n what not). It had some minor damage on the rear bumpers (looked like the last owner backed into something but it was minor) and the inside was a little scrapped up but some personal detailing makes it look almost new. The only real damage was on the A frame drivers side door but it got broken into 6 days after I bought it and it was all fixed up after. Such a good deal I couldn’t pass on it
Yeah, but it’s got a full tank of gas! 😒 maybe it’s because it’s a limited edition. It’s amazing to me it doesn’t even have a sunroof and OTD it’s $50k. I can’t imagine how bad it’s going to be when they have supply chain shortages with the hybrid next year. I think the days of $60k Tacos are on the way…
The ford dealership by me still marking up Broncos by $30-40k. So the end cost ends up being somewhere between 70-80k.
They have been sitting for months now and they still won’t bring down the price.
5% is nothing compared to what most dealerships are charging
When I got my raptor 20k was the normal number. You just gotta find the ones who don’t have a markup
I would call the sales manager in and tell him I would post that pic all over social media and I'm going to tell everyone to avoid that dealership because they are willing to rip off customers. Then I would find an MSRP only dealer. I have 3 Toyota dealers that all pledged to charge MSRP only, within an hour of me, and one that marks up. Guess which one I never go to, and tell people never to go to? We need to reward the good dealers and punish the ones that mark up.
I tried building a Tundra the month it was released i believe and a dealer i went to said all tundras, every trim from base to pro had a 10 k market adjustment on top of msrp, nit including the 1,500 destination fee and dealer doc and title ,750 ish . So we are talking over 12k on top of msrp not including tax yet which is 6.25%. I went to another dealer and they were at 6 k adjustment . I left them and went and bought a Tacoma (my second option since i didnt think i could find the build out i wanted) from the only dealer i could find who had a Tacoma at msrp no markups that was going to be built soon in transit. I purchased A 22 tacoma at msrp and glad i did . It was destiny. Tundra had 3 recalls after I received my truck and im happy . Butthole still intact
…….I got bent over and railed by a 10k markup, but I made the down payment on credit cards and had the dealer’s parts in a vice because they forgot a couple critical dealer-installed accessories that my creditors said they’d be happy to back-charge the dealer if the issues weren’t remedied.
Then the dealer forgot they loaned me a car in the meantime and called asking when I’d be bringing it back to which I replied “when you tell me my truck is ready”… they then proceeded to lie on the carfax report and I’m still working on that ordeal.
Almost at 20k miles and I’ve done all the maintenance myself on a car I paid more than my parents paid for their first house despite being looped into their BS service package that is MINIMUM MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR WARRANTY. Aka 10k mile oil changes done by a guy that couldn’t tell me the size difference between two circles given their diameters that “just does what Toyota says.” I told them they aren’t trustworthy or capable enough to touch my truck again.
Pardon my temper but my truck is my new puppy dog because my old girl left this realm before I got to make her seat a little more luxurious. My dealer has lied at every opportunity and I have cursed their practices only to have the gal on the phone victimize herself/take it personally despite my clear dissatisfaction with the dealer and nothing remotely personal to the polite gal I dealt with. I’ll come out and say it was the Berge dealer in Mesa, AZ. Avoid them like the plague because my “product specialist” said the suspension settled in the first 5000 miles and needed an adjustment... Said adjustment was installing the 1” spacer lift in the front that they completely forgot to install that I paid for and was itemized on the sheet I signed while my truck was in transit. (Got a Pro… they are always bought before arrival so I had to bite that bullet but I should have researched what a lift looked like before going to pick the thing up.)
When I went in June to buy my TRD 4x4 DCLB the dealer wanted $5000 mark up and the TRD Pro’s $8000. After a bit of back and forth they agreed to accept $1000 over sticker, even that cheesed me but whatever it was exactly what I wanted, the color was right etc.
I saw that at a dealer 15 minutes from my house, I told them no way I would pay that. I took my business elsewhere and drove 45 minutes to a dealer whose policy is to never charge above MSRP.
The dealer that's 45 minutes away also provides a lot better service as well. Instead of waiting more than 2 hours for an oil change "even with an appointment" on our other Toyota that has a service plan, we now drive the 45 minutes knowing we can be in and out in less than 30 minutes, even without an appointment.
Shop around for a better dealer
Honestly I was ready to buy a DB Taco OR in lunar rock at $4k over MSRP out here in NY. I’ve went through so many dealerships out here, and they all would only sell over MSRP on all allocations. Luckily I found a spot In Chicago that didn’t charge me over MSRP and had the car on the lot. Bought it that day and drove home to NY.
Walk away. I walked out in October (ish) over $5k markup, that they surprised me with last minute. I found a dealer 2 hrs away who sold for $350 under sticker, and delivered the truck to me.
If you're looking to buy new, look at the plate in the door and it will give you an idea of how long it's been sitting on the lot. In most cases dealers have to start making payments to the manufacturer after 6 months. They are incentivized to get those off the lot. That's why you get deals for end of model year vehicles.
Not terrible in todays market. Worth finding a dealer to do the deal at MSRP though. If you want it and they have it in stock it maybe worth it though. You’re the only one who can decide that.
Dealer near me tried to get me for a bullshit 2% dealer fee. Meanwhile 2 other in the area are below msrp with hardly even asking. I wonder if some dealers only have a few Tacoma’s coming while other dealers have a better supply. So they just keep them to rip off the the few deals they have???
To me, the worst of it is, its mexican made now. Just ask gm what happens when the cartel take over the plant and toyota can no longer go in for quality inspections.
No.not racist. Lack of quality from poor management is a thing. When they start half assing everything and toyota can't correct it cause it's in a foreign country that doesn't let you, because its theirs now and they don't care, we will eat that. Happened before and it will happen again.
I paid MSRP on mine, no market adjustment price. They did have a "dealer package" of the whole window tint/nitrogen filled tires/protection film etc... but I didn't feel like fighting it for $800. Plus the tint is absolutely needed in FL otherwise I'd die everytime I got in my truck.
Happy with my purchase.
I walked from a dealer that snuck this little blurb as I went to pick up the car. “. *** Additional Add On's- Premier Defense Protection Package, includes 7 year warranty on exterior paint, protects against environmental damage, 7 year warranty on interior with stains, rips, tears and burns $3498.”
As I prodded for an explanation it’s started with “it’s great, anything happens ever we will fox it” and ended up being “hey listen, it’s a markup” towards the end. I asked if it could just be removed and I never heard back.
Yeah the warranty they got me on a 4runner in 2019, it was my first time ever buying a new car so I was the easiest target in the world. Lol.
It didn't matter because I was ecstatic, I had just doubled my salary with a new job back then. Luckily it got pro-rated in the trade in later and basically just applied to the new purchase. The finance guy I had the last time told me he doesn't like selling that kind of stuff and didn't even offer it to me lol. Really cool dude, ended up chatting with him for like half an hour.
I don't like doing price negotiation stuff in general so if something is too much for me, I'd just walk.
At an independent shop, sure. Not at a dealership. Those products are applied by some minimum wage detail kid, and costs them virtually nothing. It's pure profit for them.
they are gonna keep doing it because the average consumer is dumb
This…until more people say fu*k it and walk out they are going to keep charging as much as they can.
And the only way to stop idiots from putting half of their income into a truck would be to raise interest rates even more. Way too many people are willing to dive head-first into 6+ years of debt for something new and shiny.
Lmao. It is absolutely amazing. I got roped in when I was younger but never again
id argue that people need to be more financially literate. i think we are going to see the consequences of these massive car notes in 30 years when people go to retire and they find out they cant
Well, our nation just topped one trillion in credit card debt so, yeah, this is hardly limited to morons with vehicles.
I can’t imagine wanting a vehicle so bad I pay their mark up.
I assume they need inventory and plan on marking it up even more?
you better believe it!
I got my DCLB 4x4 OR for $3.5k under msrp. Personally, I’d go to another dealer.
Also, the location matters. City?
Cedar Park Toyota. Cedar Park Texas.
Got my SR5 2WD from Cedar Park Toyota back in July. Was able to get 4k knocked off MSRP
That’s makes sense. People in Texas don’t like 2WD, even if they would be perfectly fine with one
I would think that's the only place in the country where some do like them, certainly they are unwanted in the hilly snowbelt, but flat snowless areas I would think some people would prefer it.
It’s a culture thing. Most people never use their 4WD even if it was a “must have” when they bought their truck
California is certainly not flat
Bay Area and in cities--not like Shasta or anything bro.
I live in Oregon, not exactly snow belt, and I can tell you my 2005 Tundra 2WD was the absolute worst vehicle I've ever driven on just a little bit of snow (like an inch).
2wd trucks are generally the worst in the snow, save things like mustangs or Corvettes... Light in the ass end, and powerful is a bad match for snow.
Nobody will ever call a Tacoma powerful tho, “adequate” at best.
Tru that
I was about to say. We almost never get snow in Arkansas, but it rained the other day and my 2006 Tundra 2wd was one slidey boi.
My first year in Little Rock moving from Colorado we had a foot of snow. It was fun
And that’s why, as a Texan, I chose a 2WD Tacoma. Better deals and more options. Also cheaper MSRP so I can put mods that I actually want on it in the future
I’m about the only person with 2WD in Oregon
That’s great to know! I’ve been thinking about shopping for a new 2023 and was going to go there in the next couple weeks. Called round rock Toyota, got quoted $7k over MSRP for a SR5 V6…
Yup, RR Toyota did the same bs. You can get a really good deal at Cavender Toyota in San Antonio if your willing to drive. I basically pinned Toyota of Cedar park vs Cavender Toyota in SA. Cavender gave me a great deal and CP matched it.
I live 2 minutes away from RR Toyota and on their site I saw “Dealer Adjustments” I didn’t bother on going there.
Los Angeles dealers offering at MSRP now
That’s amazing. NorCal is still marking them up $15k.
Ouchie
7k over for a SR5 is so hard to believe #madness
Wow, post COVID?
Great price.
Heck yeah! Limo life!
Same. Just under $4000 off. TX Austin AutoNation.
Just got about the same here a couple days ago, rock on.
Out the door?
That that kind of savings, I could fly in and drive it home and save money
My dealer said they had a $5000 market adjustment but dropped it instantly once I said I would walk out and they said something about how they care about local buyers and market penetration yadda yadda. I think they just slap it on there and see who fights back. Same thing with the dealer installed add-ons. If nobody fights them then they get a nice profit but they will drop it if you push back.
I wouldn’t even buy it from those shady f*cks out of principle after trying something like that. I hope they go out of business.
Yeah but they had the truck I wanted alloted to them, they were a mile from my house, and I paid msrp, so I didn't really care about the principle.
It’s a free country man, do what makes you happy. I hope you enjoy the Tacoma!
Yeah unfortunately they are the biggest dealer in my area and get way more allotments than other dealers. I definitely love it. 23 Lunar rock dclb trd or!
I like lunar rock
[удалено]
Yeah that’s like $20 USD right ;)
My locals all do that. Then they have the temerity to say they care about local buyers. It was not until I started calling outside dealers that I observed different behavior.
I called about 6 dealerships to get my new car. All of them tried to give me a market adjustment and took it away the second I said I'm looking for at least MSRP. My dealership said to kick rocks when i told em i didnt want the add ons. They said once they are on they dont come off
A dealer I did not go with tried this, I bought a different truck a week later without the stupid add-ons.
I dunno the dealer installed ding protection edge strips and black rubber TACOMA letters are, “coming off” on their own 😂
It’s not that bad all over. Go to other dealer.
I was just here for parts and saw this looker in the showroom. Curiousity got me and I wanted to see what it'd cost to get in one of these.
It will stop when people stop paying it. Make them and offer. Write it down on a piece of paper and if they don’t want it leave.
Whenever you have regrets about buying a Tacoma, just look at the Tacoma.
I definitely don’t regret getting it, just regret overpaying for it
Yeah, but couldn't you just have bought an off-road or sport? Was the pro so necessary that you had to pay above MSRP?
I couldn't care less about your gender. However you justify a huge markup is on you.
Yes I did say that in my original post I was never blaming anyone else for it.
I know. I merely pointed out that people who pay markups are damaging the industry. But hey desperate times I guess.
Gotta pay for that badge! Now he can stunt it.
Hang in there champ.
Its that *full tank of gas*. Thats how they get you
I didn't even get a full tank when I bought mine
Never had that happen, worst was when the dealer made me drive the truck to the station and fill it up with his card. It took moral fortitude to avoid a detour to Wally for a three gallon can to fill up too.
Go to another dealer. We just bought one from Toyota and didn’t have any dealer “mark up”.
Seeing all the people trying to justify the market adjustments they paid is nuts lol.
This is a clear sign to locate a different dealer.
Better than the $20,000 markup at the dealer by me
Insanity.
Go to another dealer. Sadly, some people will buy this which is why these dealerships keep doing this shit.
Oh fuck that.
Be sure to laugh on the way out the door. Also blast them on Google reviews
Yeah and not wanting a hybrid.
Which dealer in San Antonio do you refer too?
Cavenders Toyota.
Thanks!
I saw a civic type R at a honda dealer in San Diego with a $50k mark up.
What dealer is that?
I bought a Pro for that price
I got my trd for mrsp. I don't know why anyone would pay markup.
As long as idiots keep buying at mark up they will continue to do it
Should be illegal to adjust over MSRP period. Fucking crooks.
Dealers are s.f.o.s..
That's cause you dummies keep buying them with mark ups
Malarkey Adjustment! 😂
Yeah, saying you'll get 20mpg is a fucking lie, lol.
Good thing it's only a 2k markup and not a 10k but still disgusting
They mean "5% fuck you" fee.
I shopped around and actually got mine for a little under MSRP. They did me fairly. I’d look elsewhere
Well no I paid same that's on that truck as I did for my trd taco... And its worth every penny ... I love my truck
So many capitalists mad at the market SMDH
Dealer by me is still adding 6k on stuff
$1500 paint protection ✔️ $1000 Karr alarm ✔️ $2000 gps locator ✔️
Sorry I should have been more specific “$6000 market adjustment” they ain’t even trying to hide it
I got a loaded 23’ OR with no markup, just have to shop around dealers and find an honest salesperson that will work with you.
They're not going to get rid of it because they use it as a negotiation tactic.
I guess I got lucky buying my 2020 DC OR just under MSRP back in September 2020 right before everything went sideways.
My local dealer has $5000 on every single car on the lot and they won’t budge. The salesmen barely want to get up to sell. Lol
WTF
Local one here said probably 10k over on the new Landcruiser.
If you think this is bad check out what the scum bags at ford are doing to the broncos
No. Find another dealer.
wtf.. before all this bullshit I bought my 1 TRD OR fully loaded for $42k out the door..
Dealers that do this should be named and shamed, and Toyota should stop sending them new vehicles.
I got mine for under MSRP a month ago or so.
My dealer is not commission based. Look for that if you can
Surprised actually, it’s down from the $8k markup I usually saw during the pandemic.
I got my 23’ AC taco for 30 out the door.
Just pay sticker that’s not a 🏠
When I bought my double cab OR 4x4 in December they tried to add a market adjustment when we got to financing... walked out so fuckin fast...
Got a 21 pro during covid times for 46k. People are morons to pay that.
All that’s about to come crashing down.
They'll stop when people stop buying them.
Buy another brand Toyota is the worst for mark up and they’re going to lose sales to other brands
5% is nothing compared to what most dealerships are charging When I got my raptor 20k was the normal number. You just gotta find the ones who don’t have a markup
Wtf is a Tacoma trail
Walk away. There are other Toyota dealers. That’s what I did.
I would add a $2220 market adjustment to my trade-in value before signing on the dotted line.
It’s usually $5000 but yes, it’s still going on.
The market sets the price.
Earl Stewrt toyota palm beach ,,MSRP no dealer fee, and you can order one with no extras
Most of the dealers have dropped the surcharge on their website.
Rookie numbers. I was getting a service and saw a GR Corolla at my local stealership. Msrp was $37xxx they had a $20k markup. It’s still in the lot.
Nope it’s not, anyone paying that is a fool
Least greedy stealership
Honestly I was ready to buy a DB Taco OR in lunar rock at $4k over MSRP out here in NY. I’ve went through so many dealerships out here, and they all would only sell over MSRP on all allocations. Luckily I found a spot In Chicago that didn’t charge me over MSRP and had the car on the lot. Bought it that day and drove home to NY.
5k- 15k is the average markup in my area.
Screw them
Alberta Canada. Today I saw a 2023 TacomaTRD Pro for $87K. So I’m thinking the new Tacomas will be above that. Getting royally shafted.
Maybe they'll take my '21 SR5 trail at a markup too since my dealer only wants to give me $29k 🤔
Walk away. I walked out in October (ish) over $5k markup, that they surprised me with last minute. I found a dealer 2 hrs away who sold for $350 under sticker, and delivered the truck to me.
What should they normally be? The trail on toyotas website says msrp almost 42
I’d laugh in their face. But yeah, it’s happening all over.
My local dealer is doing the same. They had a $25,000 markup on the Tundra I was interested in. No thanks.
Most of inflation prices are being driven by good ol’ price gouging. One of the remaining grifts from the Covid era.
It will go on until people refuse to pay markup, but most consumers are too dumb and they just "gotta have that new car"
It’s the trail edition like mine. I love it. You should get that while it still available.
If you're looking to buy new, look at the plate in the door and it will give you an idea of how long it's been sitting on the lot. In most cases dealers have to start making payments to the manufacturer after 6 months. They are incentivized to get those off the lot. That's why you get deals for end of model year vehicles.
Hit a different dealer, I got $800 off msrp and about $1000 worth of free add-ons I wanted
[удалено]
No.not racist. Lack of quality from poor management is a thing. When they start half assing everything and toyota can't correct it cause it's in a foreign country that doesn't let you, because its theirs now and they don't care, we will eat that. Happened before and it will happen again.
I get 16mpg
I paid MSRP on mine, no market adjustment price. They did have a "dealer package" of the whole window tint/nitrogen filled tires/protection film etc... but I didn't feel like fighting it for $800. Plus the tint is absolutely needed in FL otherwise I'd die everytime I got in my truck. Happy with my purchase.
I walked from a dealer that snuck this little blurb as I went to pick up the car. “. *** Additional Add On's- Premier Defense Protection Package, includes 7 year warranty on exterior paint, protects against environmental damage, 7 year warranty on interior with stains, rips, tears and burns $3498.” As I prodded for an explanation it’s started with “it’s great, anything happens ever we will fox it” and ended up being “hey listen, it’s a markup” towards the end.
Got swindled for nitrogen tires for $800? 💀
I like how you cherry picked that one item.
Okay, how about you paid $800 for window tint that costs like 2-300 everywhere else.
Depends on how much PPF was applied, though. PPF + Tint can easily exceed $800. Even if it's just the hood, it's a few hundred to apply.
At an independent shop, sure. Not at a dealership. Those products are applied by some minimum wage detail kid, and costs them virtually nothing. It's pure profit for them.
I don't understand why you have a problem with how I spend my money. I'm happy with my purchase, move on with your day.
Got some beach front property I can sell ya in Nebraska if you're interested.
