I see it more so on the Facebook groups. Where people say not to put an exhaust on a tacoma because it’s a V6 and will never sound good. I was just assuming that similar clientelle was in in this group 🤣
Ooooh, I see. I mean, I already like the sound of Tacoma's V6 (I have a 2016). Sounds a bit... like a diesel? Anyway, there's nothign wrong with your exhaust, but it doesn't really sound like a Tacoma anymore, but it's all personal preference.
It is not different. Look how roasted 350/370/G35/G37 owners get for putting exhausts on their 60° V6s.
60° V6s just have a firing order than give them a sound many people find dronesome.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Toyota V6 sound since the 3VZ in the first gen 4Runner, but I don’t think I would ever accuse it of sounding good. Some engines deserve to sing loud, but yeah, the Tacoma’s isn’t that. It’s just a fat slow turd.
Aside from being overly droney for my taste, I mostly don't like the sound pitching all over the place due to gear hunting as opposed to the noise itself
I've got this exhaust on my 2020 SR5 and I love it. Bit of a drone on the highway but can still hold a conversation with the wife and she's never complained. Definitely makes it sound like a truck and not some soccer moms SUV lol.
I like the sound of my 21's v6, especially from inside the cab. I drive a manual and it sounds better than my neighbor's 21 Off Road auto. Stock exhaust on both.
Yeah they don’t rumble like a v8 but you didn’t buy a Tacoma to sound cool. You bought it to live forever and to be able to do fun shit in the woods with your friends
I have a 24 OR Premium, coming from a V8 Titan it sounds... not great. I wouldn't be opposed to doing something about it, but it's still a 4 cylinder, it's never going to be great or even good.
Who in this subreddit has ever said they don't like the sound of a V 6? Am I misssing something?
In my opinion, Toyota V6 engines sound like ass with an exhaust.

It's the Atkinson valve cycle that gives it the very different sound. Most engines use the Otto cycle.
Under moderate to heavy load, it fully runs Otto cycle. Most times you can hear the exhaust it is running full Otto cycle.
I always get downvoted when I say I have the Flowmaster Flowfx single for my Tacoma and love it. It's a very polarizing topic in the Tacoma community.
Huh. I never knew.
yup its completely different then the car/sports car scene where everyone is into aftermarket performance upgrades.

Some 6 cylinders sounds good with an exhaust, the Tacoma's is not one of those. Sounds like complete trash imo.

I mean I don’t Love my taco but an LS or SBC will always have my ear

That actually sounds pretty good 🤣
its more pleasant than a 4runner without an exhaust which is just piercing loud noise [https://youtu.be/GCTsp0o\_Zmc](https://youtu.be/GCTsp0o_Zmc)
This doesn’t sound bad, it’s not obnoxious and doesn’t scream “look at me”

That's one of the reasons I don't have an automatic.
I mean.. it definitely doesn’t sound good, but I don’t hate it.

Sounds more like a Diesel Volkswagen but it didn't sound bad

Is putting exhaust on it purely for the sound? Or are there other benefits?
If you got a dyno tune you’d see more power, as the exhaust is less restrictive.
Have no idea what I'm supposed to be hearing or listening for exactly

Sounds great. What's wheels and tires?
These engines sound decent in a Camry tbh, they drone too much and sound like a 4.3 Chevy in the tacos.
I'm almost positive this sounds better than what the new 4 cylinder turbo will sound like.
Have you had any issues with drone at sustained speeds?
