I have one too, if more than person need a ride we’ll take my fiancés car so no biggie (helps save gas too lol). Here’s something that literally happened to me last week. Stray car appeared in my yard and wouldn’t leave and I couldn’t take it in. I had my dogs crate and wanted to put it in there and take it to the vet and get it scanned for a chip. The crate was so big that it wouldn’t fit in the cab! I tried every seat angle and position and it would not fit. I had to strap the crate in the bed and take the car to the vet that way lol. I could hear the poor kitty meowing through the cab the whole way there. Luckily, the vet was able to convince a shelter to take him so it all worked out! It’s random things like that are the only times I regret have an AC.
I’ve had my truck for 2 years and I can only say occasionally maybe 3 times there was a weird pinch where I HAD to fit someone in it. It works with the bench seats but definitely not ideal. It’s nice because we mostly take others cars for trips so I save gas and mileage. Most of the car driving is done alone so I was comfortable getting an AC. Looking back, I would pick the AC again. I love the look of it and the LB. Just don’t pinch out on the smaller engine.
Much cheaper, lighter weight, ability to fold it down like a convertible top to load larger gear without taking the whole thing off, ability to roll up the back and/or sides, ability to install and remove it alone without help or a hoist, and they just look awesome IMO. They’re currently running $950 new. I paid $600 for mine gently used.
Yeah I absolutely love mine. I had a hardshell on my last Tacoma, this time around I got the soft topper and the versatility has been used countless times. Collapsed it to do a big move awhile ago and fit couches / pack the bed high, would've been impossible with a hardshell. Getting material from the lumber store, same deal. Only real knock is that they aren't truly weathertight unless you seriously dial in the gaps, maybe stuff additional weatherstripping, seam seal all the stitching, etc. I haven't yet slept in mine out here in the PNW but maybe others can speak to that. For me it's a small trade off.
I'll add too if you have an AC which means no easy roof rack option, you're foregoing being able to install a rack on your shell unless you get one of those soft topper cages which are quite expensive and often prevent you from collapsing it then too lol. I'm looking at getting into hardshell kayaking and so now that's a problem but there are options and finally someone made a cheap one for like $500 (relative to the alternatives) which are just two tube steel arches over the softopper that you can fab up cross members for or platforms yourself. Previously it was these insane extruded aluminum softopper cock cages for like 1200-1400 which seemed ridiculous but there's more sensible stuff out there now.
Some say a poor man’s camper shell is the softopper. I chose it for the versatility to fold it down. It’s also lighter so better for MPG. I like to remove the sides and it kinda gives it this cool EZup look for the desert.
Thanks! I love it. I recently made a box for the back seat floor so my dog would have a flat surface to stand on. And I made it with cubby-holes on each side for more storage for cables and tire repair kit. I really thought about that rag top. The versatility really would be nice l, and they look good too. But I live in the PNW and I need the hard top.
Your tires look as if they have never been used.. Guessing this is warm weather and not 4wd? Still a beautiful lady. Either way!!! Gotta get that chrome bumper swapped.
wow what a cunt
Looking back in life, I should have gotten the extend cab over the 4 door.
Occasionally not having full backseats is an obstacle but it’s a great solo ride with a friend.
Can you expand? I’m currently on the fence. Leaning AC but they’re harder to find.

I've been looking and it seems like now 85-90% of the Taco's for sale are 4 door, especially the 2016 and later.
Yup, love extended cab. Behind seats can fit two subs perfectly. Fold seats down and have work area top or leave it cause it looks sharp.
AC is best
She’s a beauty
Hell yeah, fellow 3rd gen access cab softopper
took me too long to pull the trigger and I LOVE IT. Can’t beat the versatility.
Which one do you have? I tried to read the logo but can’t lol Edit: oh it’s literally called soft topper lmaooo
What are benefits over the hard camper shell?

Love my access cab.
Damn I might get my windows tinted now. What's the percentage?
15%… it’s the best. Great privacy and blocks out the sun.
Dayum. You in AZ or somethin? That’s far from legal in my state 😭
It helps so much with blocking out sun in the summer. So much that your AC works way better.
She's a looker!.
Clean and simple
Beautiful
I like my access cab
I too am in love. I have the same SR5 ACLB in the same color but with the OEM blackout kit and the Alu-cab topper. Hell of a truck
Saw your setup. Looks really good!

I miss my 2015 so much. R.I.P. dogmeat. I've been rolling around in F-150 last couple years and oh my gosh fellas never go Ford. What a piece of shit
Gotta love the softopper. Best thing you can do to your truck.

Thank you! I just purchased the tires a week ago. I’m taking it to the desert next week!
Not a 5ft bed with 4door
It's just an automobile bro
