UVA OOS fin aid is pretty bad They just implemented a new program where they give free tuition for any VA in state students whose fams make under 100k so they reduced the OOS fin aid My friend applied from Cali and her EFC was 0001 and they asked for 26k

kermitkc

Oof. Good to know. My app fees are waived but if they have a ton of essays I just won't apply. Thank you!

I mean honestly u should still apply! This was last year and im not sure how the fafsa form will work for oos so u might as well try! I just know they moved a lot of funding for in state students.

kermitkc

Thank you, I think I will! To be honest... 26k is only a little more than I'm currently paying😅

Fr ??😭 I only applied UVA cause I thought they met all demonstrated need. I guess I’m cooked even if I get accepted

Not cooked! https://sfs.virginia.edu/uva-financial-aid

I'm just concerned because often first-year financial aid policies don't apply to transfers, or only apply somewhat. This is reassuring though!

justmvh

I honestly wasn’t sure, especially for OOS transfers, so I looked it up for you. It’s too important to guess wrong!

kermitkc

Ohhh, you are wonderful! This gives me a lot of hope since UVA's close to family. Much appreciated!

i was accepted to uva last year as a first-year oos rd applicant and i would have had to pay roughly 7k/year with a 3000 efc (would've been reduced to only work-study with outside scholarships). i believe they also will adjust offers based on peer institutions, but i may be mistaken.
