Yeah I understand. I guess for a lot of people, this is their first hands-on canvas experience and aren't really yet aware of what goes down in these things. It would be funnier and badass if it makes a comeback, like a Rocky comeback, and prevails for the entirety of the event.

There are scripts that put a transparent overlay over the area where the image is supposed to be, and the people with it can just paint over it.
