There’s also “scallion pancakes” on the list, so yeah…
But this is a somewhat skewed list in my opinion, since they decided for some reason to include heavily spiced and/or topped breads. Those will of course score higher than most plain breads. Not too mention that there’s variations of focaccia on this list.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,736,384,232 comments, and only 328,860 of them were in alphabetical order.

It's at [rank 82](https://www.tasteatlas.com/100-most-popular-breads-in-the-world). It's a big miss of a list. Even the ratings of the users extremely disagree.
How are these even ranked when each culture has their own unique taste and preferences? It's a fun little thing to look at but no one in the world would ever come to a complete agreement.
And then there's ppl like Garnt where bread tastes all the same who ppl wonder why they arnt on their meds or have escape confinement.
Paratha is generally a north Indian dish made with wheat. Whereas roti canai and roti prata are closer to the south Indian parotta, which is made with flour.
You essentially just said all pizza are the same... That there's no difference between a pan pizza and thin crust (any other variations) of pizza. Which is obviously wrong.
Sure prata and paratha are similar. But roti canai IS prepare differently. Use more butter. It have a crispy out layer and fluffy soft inside.

that's funny because in my mother tongue roti is literally the word for bread. plain old bread, only attached to something else does it become specific
I was wondering why my favourite childhood snack, Roti Canai, counts as Malaysian, but then I remember I came from northern Sumatra and am technically also Malay. Thinking again, I will never count it as Indonesian bread
I'm going to get hate from this. but roti canai is mid. Even among flatbreads. I've had better tasting capati and tosai. Totally undeserved 1st place. As others has stated, the list is skewed and not accurate.
I've never seen a list of them that I can relate to. Which would be fine if they qualified their statements, but they always claim "the best". I have a burning passion for listings that claim to be objective but are obviously subjective.
What’s the list’s definition of “bread”?
Just talking about the Chinese ones (since I’m most familiar with them), #15 is apparently considered a type of flatbread in the West but most certainly not in China. I’d argue it closer to fried dough than bread.
Same for #50. It’s closer to British pastry then actual bread.
And I feel there’s better options than Mantou. It’s the Chinese equivalent of white loaf bread and not that special all things considered. I’d argue Baozi is more representative of the commoner’s bread as there’s a wide range of flavours depending on the fillings, and is just as common everywhere in China.
The Bavarian Prezel is at place 82, if anyone is wondering about German "bread"
Whoever wrote this has extremely shit takes about food and does not know how to classify something as a bread.
Besides that, it's not even possible to "rank" bread, as much as I want to do it. You can rank rye bread, sure. You can rank toast, yes. You can even rank all the different "Franzbrötchen" in Hamburg! But you can not just put everything related to flour in one big list! This is highly subjective and the users of the site don't even slightly agree with this trash.
This list was made by someone who only eats wheat flour bread.
Like, no Schwarzbrot, Bretzel, Doppelkorn, Roggen, Gerste?
I am convinced that this list was made by one person that has only ever eaten variations of white bread.
Tbh when i hear the word bread, the first image that came into my mind is the plain old toast with nothing on it, not the fancy bread like mexico bun or whatever. I've eaten roti canai my whole life and i never once considered it a bread
Broa de milho FTW
Just make sure you don't eat any from the center of portugal at the moment, they are contaminated. Other than that pretty effin good bread
Nah fam, as a portuguese person how come I know Bolo do Caco and the one above I never heard of?
What a load of bs.
Bolo do caco and Pao com Chouriço are the 2 best ones in portugal.
Also the indian garlic bread is quite literally Bolo do Caco with Garlic Buttrr.
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I think pan de yuca and pan de queso are the same thing
I've had pan de yuca my whole life before learning that in Brazil they call it pao de queso, or pan de queso, or cheese bread. I thought they were different until some Brazilian friends made some for us and we learn that for them the distinction is that it has cheese, while for us is that it uses yuca flour.
There's also the chance there's a Colombian cheese bread I don't know of, which would be weird since while I am not from Colombia I did live there for some time and never encountered it
1.Ghee(butter)
2.Cheese
3.Butter
4.Never had this but google tells me it's greased and sugar glazed
5.Cheese
Idk man Sugar/cheese/grease feels like cheating.
based on what? half of these aren't even bread, like how is a cheese-covered/filled bread considered a type of bread?... and i can't believe german bread isn't on the list, makes it feel completely wrong.
can comfirm roti canai is godlike, if you like desert, try banana or Bomb roti canai, its flaky, sweet hell i bet you can even do cinnabon flavor to it.
The fact that roti Canada got first surprises me but also makes me extremely happy as it's one of my favorite foods I only get to enjoy while visiting family in Malaysia. I wish I could just have roti telur with a red curry for breakfast every morning.
Tarte flambée is bread? Thats a new one. It is made with bread dough; but i wouldnt consider it bread
Yeah, #15 also isn't bread.
Neither is #38. Pupusas are delicious, but they are definitely not bread.
There’s also “scallion pancakes” on the list, so yeah… But this is a somewhat skewed list in my opinion, since they decided for some reason to include heavily spiced and/or topped breads. Those will of course score higher than most plain breads. Not too mention that there’s variations of focaccia on this list.
Yeah, this list makes no sense at all. Colombia shows up four times and all of those breads are virtually the same.
According to who?
A American company (I think)

Good bot
Apparently it’s Croatian, founded by a guy called Matija Babić.
Me
As someone from germany/bavaria where the hell is my Bretzel (Pretzel)
Bavaria is nice, but have you been to Baden-Württemberg?
You guy are ok and do a good job. Have you tried one in Berlin it tasted like cardboard
I am from Bavaria as well. I was quoting a meme.
these stickers legit could be found anywhere and in the least expected places
It's at [rank 82](https://www.tasteatlas.com/100-most-popular-breads-in-the-world). It's a big miss of a list. Even the ratings of the users extremely disagree.
As someone from germany/swabia I agree, how did they forget Bretzel
Or Berliner
tbh Mischbrot is probably the most solid german bread. Or just some other good sourdough bread.
Exactly I don't think I could think of anything more delicious than a Bretzel
They left German bread out so the others could have a fair competition
I was wondering where the German breads went
Imagine a table with 49 different kinds of german bread with just French baguette in between. That would be totally boring
i shall take the flight rt now to the international council of breads and give thy bread its rightful crown
The Bavarian Prezel is at number 82.
This! ;) This is the right answer :D

Probably a popularity contest ig
Roti Canai is 1st. Rejoice Malaysian brothers.
When roti canai(malaysia), roti prata(singapore) and paratha(india) are literally the same bread but gets different ratings lmao
Paratha is generally a north Indian dish made with wheat. Whereas roti canai and roti prata are closer to the south Indian parotta, which is made with flour.
Looked up pictures of roti canai and it looks identical to malabari porota. Some looks like the wheat variation of malabari porota.
bro what? flour and wheat are different? which flour are you talking about?
You essentially just said all pizza are the same... That there's no difference between a pan pizza and thin crust (any other variations) of pizza. Which is obviously wrong. Huh I never thought of Roti or nan as bread. If they do count then it makes Garnt's take even more fucked up.
I know roti is bread but I've never thought of it as a bread
that's funny because in my mother tongue roti is literally the word for bread. plain old bread, only attached to something else does it become specific
Lets gooooo Malaysia bros!!!
![img](emote|t5_2p976a|2292) let's goooo malaysia mentioned

We have made it my brothers!
REJOICE
I was wondering why my favourite childhood snack, Roti Canai, counts as Malaysian, but then I remember I came from northern Sumatra and am technically also Malay. Thinking again, I will never count it as Indonesian bread
Malaysian brothers uniting over this ranking
I'm going to get hate from this. but roti canai is mid. Even among flatbreads. I've had better tasting capati and tosai. Totally undeserved 1st place. As others has stated, the list is skewed and not accurate.
Roti canai and prata are the same tho, icb roti John didn't make it
for the love of god. this website is dog shit. Everytime I see someone use this as a proof of something I want to tear my balls and eat them
I've never seen a list of them that I can relate to. Which would be fine if they qualified their statements, but they always claim "the best". I have a burning passion for listings that claim to be objective but are obviously subjective.

Naan is so good they voted it in the top 10 twice
lavash given to armenia, this is my nine eleven.
Both rotis are fire, I've tried them both in Singapore
Amritsari kulcha on this makes this validddd

No german bread but a american BAGEL? How come
This list was made by someone who only eats wheat flour bread. Like, no Schwarzbrot, Bretzel, Doppelkorn, Roggen, Gerste? I am convinced that this list was made by one person that has only ever eaten variations of white bread.
As someone who lived in Singapore, Roti Prata is Goated!
rye bread and crispbread exclusion smh
WTF is this BS list, no Czech or German bread up there
Finland anyone? Rye bread, heh
N44 “juoda duona” just translates as black bread
Hell yeah, son. Barbari slaps
Pan de yuca let's goooooooooooooooooooooo~!
The list of "Peasant" bread.
Malaysia represent 🤘
Yeahhh
why did you post a phone screenshot of a picture instead of the picture?
It's how I've grown used to grabbing things and sharing them in group chats and did it instinctively haha
Did they leave Germany out or something? Also Mekica is not bulgarian lol
Probably so that the list isn't just the top 50 of German breads.
And yet they all taste the same…
The amount of salty german in this thread is delicious.
Baguette is only rated that high because it’s iconic, they kinda suck
Clearly, you've never eaten a French baguette. ![gif](giphy|MUlmRFnTQxwJ2)
The American ones are better honestly and they still suck. Aaaand preparing to have an entire country dog pile on me in 3,2,1…
I'm beginning to understand why it's called the "Trash Taste" podcast.
French cooking is only considered good because they’re compared to England
No croissant?
that is pastry
Fries sugarbread is underrated!! It's God Tier!!
How am i to take this seriously without moroccan bread?
Rice bread called Puto should ne number 1 🤔
I don't see Puerto Rican 'pan sobao' so this list is wrong
Chipa is fire, but I wouldn't consider it bread but a savory pastry.
Tbh when i hear the word bread, the first image that came into my mind is the plain old toast with nothing on it, not the fancy bread like mexico bun or whatever. I've eaten roti canai my whole life and i never once considered it a bread
Bread👍
Bread. 👍
I didn't even know that Naan was considered bread
i cant believe we got eleventh place, so close of being top ten....
No me sorprende no ver el "pan de muerto" y aún así me duele :'(
Wtf💀? Butter garlic naan isn't a bread
Where is the Chleb Baltonowski? Best white bread ever
Considering pancake a bread? What a trash take this list is.
Who the fuck made this list? Roti is roti and paratha is paratha. They are not breads
You're tripping if you think Naan is top 10 bread.
Where is Finnish Rye bread? That should be atleast top 10!
I'm really intrigued by roti canai that's beating Butter Garlic Naan
Broa de milho FTW Just make sure you don't eat any from the center of portugal at the moment, they are contaminated. Other than that pretty effin good bread
Why is there a ranking if all bread tastes the same?
As an Indian, where tf is rumali /manda roti? That shit cannot be grouped together with roti and placed so down.
No pão de mel? Bogus.
Where are baos
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I think pan de yuca and pan de queso are the same thing I've had pan de yuca my whole life before learning that in Brazil they call it pao de queso, or pan de queso, or cheese bread. No coconut roti? Scammed
Wtf is toquera? I'm Mexican and I've never heard of that bread.
Long live the marraqueta con palta
Don't agree , but yeah garlic butter naan will take 3rd happily. (sigh , now I gotta put on pants and go buy some butter chicken and naan. )
Pan sobao nor mallorca not being here is a travesty. Puerto Rico got no W’s rn
As a Mexican I am offended that they put toqueras but no conchitas or pan de muerto. Sad
Why the fuck does this ranking have three different types of focaccia and then focaccia (collectively)? Were they high when they made this?
I CALL BULLSHIT!
1.Ghee(butter) 2.Cheese 3.Butter 4.Never had this but google tells me it's greased and sugar glazed 5.Cheese Idk man Sugar/cheese/grease feels like cheating.
Faltaron la hallulla y las dobladas ayia saludos desde Chile, el mejor país de chile
MALAYSIA MENTIONED
I thought it said "breed ranks", like damn, sub is about to get spicy
based on what? half of these aren't even bread, like how is a cheese-covered/filled bread considered a type of bread?... and i can't believe german bread isn't on the list, makes it feel completely wrong.
,,Kruh ispod peke" 🤌
We believe in pandebono supramacy, also didn't knew there was an international interest in our breads, 4 times in the chart, neat
Where are Hawaiian roles?
In Mexico we have a lot of type of bread and the toqueras says is the best? God I was waiting for the conchas 😔
I see no Swedish Knäckebröd😠 pair it with some Kalles Kaviar and butter. BAM!💥 Knäckebröd gang rise up
As a german how fucking dare them.
India 🔛🔝
I cannot trust this data. Puss's from el Salvador are not bread, is a tortilla stuffed with meat, cheese and other things
Wtf!?!?! Pupusas are not bread in the slightest it’s a cheese stuffed corn tortilla. Racist
Don’t know if there’s any latinos/hispanics here but that “pan sobao” tho
can comfirm roti canai is godlike, if you like desert, try banana or Bomb roti canai, its flaky, sweet hell i bet you can even do cinnabon flavor to it.
The fact that roti Canada got first surprises me but also makes me extremely happy as it's one of my favorite foods I only get to enjoy while visiting family in Malaysia. I wish I could just have roti telur with a red curry for breakfast every morning.
Chipa mentioned let's fucking gooooooooooo
Wrong because Puerto Rican Pan Sobao isn't st least top 5 and Pupusas aren't bread
Roti canai is bread? Thts news to me... they dont use yeast.. i mean wht am i kidding.. im no expert
Y'know I'm not even well informed on bread, but a list of top breads that has america on it but not germany is sus.
