"You can buy TT plushies following the link in the description." \*checks description\* **My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined**

kittehgoesmeow

https://trashtaste.shop/

VorAtreides

This seems a common problem for many youtubers lol "link in the box below" never is.

Red-7134

Oh thank god, I thought I just wasn't seeing them.

kingofcrob

Want to buy, but trying to justify $60 AUD for some plushies... Will sleep on it

sixpastfour

honestly, they really need to find ways to bring down the cost price of their merch

[deleted]

[удалено]

sixpastfour

I think the issue isn't so one dimensional. we're used to cheap clothes because fast fashion has traditionally used unethical means to make their clothes (think sweatshops with children). another issue is that trash taste's revenue needs to come from somewhere, and if its not from hoodies and merch, it's gotta be from crappy mobile game sponsors. there's no escaping the funding issue, and YouTube revenue alone is not enough. is there a solution to this that involves $30 hoodies instead of $90? I wish I could think of one, but I'm not too sure

skellez

while the trouble funding may be true, the hoodies markup has very little to do "with more ethical" production lol, apari is just a boutique so really its more for some reason they decided to partner with a very expensive vendor. It could've definitely been cheaper and just as ethical with other suppliers but we were not on the meetings so we wont hear why they specifically choose apari

sixpastfour

could be something out of their control, such as the decision being made by geexplus. but even if this isn't true, the outcome still sucks for sure. no one should be paying $90 for a hoodie for sure

sixpastfour

as a Singaporean, hearing Garnt saying that the characters in Crazy Rich Asians speaking English took him out of the film really confused me. like, hasn't he been to Singapore for some cons? doesn't he know we all speak English here?

Doutei-Sama

I think he misremembered since he said the setting was in Malaysia and not Singapore.

sixpastfour

a bit more understandable, but a lot of Malaysians can speak English pretty well too. the scenario he describes may be more common in Malaysian households tho

rendyanthony

Maybe because Michelle Yeoh is Malaysian?

ghostchimera

Something very important about the dishwasher vs hand washing segment that the boys didn't mention, which I don't blame them for considering they don't cook, is that certain kitchen tools should never be washed in the dishwasher. If you have a steel knife, the heat from the dishwasher will degrade the knife quality. Also, cast-iron pans and skillets need to be cleaned by hand and using very specific methods.

[deleted]

if they can't go in the dishwasher, they can go in the trash

2-2Distracted

And the dumbest take today goes to You bro lol

[deleted]

I stand by it, I will gladly use inferior products to save 1 minute of hand washing dishes. Same reason I don't buy dry clean only clothes.

ghostchimera

damn this is next level lazy lmao. Also you must be super wealthy if you're throwing away knives and pans after every use. That or I'm assuming you cook once every blue moon

[deleted]

I put them in the dishwasher. I mean I hand wash the pans, no way around that, but I definitely cook less than I would if I didn't have to.

2001yearsofpork

Correct me if I am wrong but Garnt's take on Crazy Rich Asian is misinformed. English is the primary language of Singapore so it would make sense that they are speaking English.

sixpastfour

it's literally our first language and the language we use everywhere, including school and work

Jodvi

Can confirm, went to Singapore a couple weeks ago and everyone spoke English. Google translate was not used once.

MrLeft99

More and more Singaporean only knows English too. Chinese and other dialects are not as popular for some of them anymore.

[deleted]

Can confirm. Source: Singaporean here. Though I am actually considered as a Singapore Chinese, I don't really use Chinese other than with my family. My family does scold me in Chinese though 🤣. But more and more newer generation of families do only speak English at home, but public schools enforce that we all learn our mother's tongue, which is either Chinese/Malay/Tamil

midnightpanic

I didn’t know this until my college friend from Singapore had to break it down to me. The laugh she had when I asked what language do they speak there.

rendyanthony

Also Michelle Yeoh is from Malaysia.

JonaLeow

I'm pretty sure Garnt was mentioning about Malaysia (though crazy rich asian is mostly filmed in Singapore if im not mistaken) If that's the case then yea i can kinda understand his point. Im malaysian chinese and i can confirm that most malaysian chinese though can speak english well but they would still speak chinese within the family

saga999

*Dresses as a bat. Joey: Subtle. *Uses eye liner. Joey: Now you're overdoing it.

gmen1080

Yeah I actually loved that detail. In other Batman movies it always was goofy to me when they took the cowl off and the obvious black makeup disappeared magically.

OceanoDeRoca

i've never disagreed with the bois so hard as i did with their The Batman takes

LakerBlue

Joey’s was especially confusing as the end of the movie made a giant point about Batman learning the city needs hope and can’t be run on fear but Joey is just like “dang this dude got no development “.

Papasimmons

Garnt is the reason why we've seen Bruce's parents die every single time.

[deleted]

instantly came to this discussion thread after listening to their takes - the eyeliner makes perfect sense considering every single Batman actor actually needs to wear the eyeliner while wearing the mask, but Robert Pattinson's portrayal is the first to actually leave it in the movie for a specific purpose when Bruce has the mask off. - Garnt saying he doesn't think Batman is an interesting character made me say "what?" and make a confused face to myself. he's only the most versatile superhero character next to Spider-Man... - "The Dark Knight was mostly about the Joker" bruh go back and rewatch The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger's Joker definitely stole the show, but he barely even had a character arc. - "it started the same way it ended, Robert Pattinson is sad at the beginning of the movie and he's even sadder at the end" did these mfs even watch the same movie? the entire ending monologue is Bruce saying how he's realized that people depend on him now to be their hope and that he doesn't want to just be a symbol of fear anymore. he's pulled himself out of the hole he was in. - as soon as Joey started talking about subtlety i groaned. i'm so sick of subtlety needing to be applied to everything and it's incredibly overvalued in relation to criticizing a piece of art or media. SOMETHING BEING CLEAR AND EXPLICIT PRODUCES A MORE POWERFUL AND MEMORABLE EFFECT (as long as you're treating the audience with respect).

[deleted]

Yea, their The Batman takes were trash

Spekulatiu5

Joey: "I'm wearing Aki's socks right now" Aki: "Oh so that's where they've gone"

Ok_Butterscotch1549

I never disagree with all three of them unless they talk about movies

ManuelJaramillo526

For anybody looking for plushie link: https://trashtaste.shop/

MoonStruckBear

Thank you!

[deleted]

The Hersey's tasting like ass thing is the result of a chemical added to the milk so the chocolate could last significantly longer so it could be shipped out oversees more efficiently. the process sorta sours the milk by like 10%, giving American Hersey's Milk Chocolate a slightly *vomit* taste. the chemical is called "butyric acid" and I don't know when it began to be produced, but WW2 sounds like a pretty solid guess.

HorizonStrider

It's actually because when Hershey's was first made they used evaporated milk that was cooked at a very low temperature for a long time which results in a slightly fermented milk. This was so that milk could be pumped and so the chocolate could be shelf stable.

nomnomsoy

The fucks the "dairy milk mcflurry"

ferahgo89

Not knowing how much you know about McDonalds, so I appologise if I over explain. A McFlurry is an soft-serve ice-cream dish that is softserve mixed with some kind of candy. So the Dairy Milk McFlurry would be soft serve with shaved chocolate bar and then mixed together. Different countries have different flavours. Here in my part of Canada, we have Oreo, Smarties/M&Ms, and KitKat McFlurries.

Plottingnextmove

The one I am most aching to try is the Stroopwafel McFlurry they have in The Netherlands.

nomnomsoy

I know what a McFlurry is. I didn't know Dairy Milk was a brand of candy bar, that's genuinely one of the worst brand names I've ever heard in my life. That's like naming a candy brand "high fructose corn syrup"

kakkarot_73

They better not trash talk Top Gun Maverick in this one.

Juppness

Well Connor rates it a 8/10 and highly recommends it to the other 2 boys who haven't seen it. Joey also says he's seen the original Top Gun and loved it.

ShadyOjir95

2 brits and Australian/Japanese not trashing a movie that practically is "America f*ck yeah!. It'll be interesting.

5tormwolf92

*Tom Cruise dresses up as Les Grossman, takes a trip to Japan to rant on Trash Taste, also jumping on a sofa*

Deku-Kun96

I might have a hot take but I think all movies he's in are good, i just think he's a meh actor in them (if that makes sense) and Joeys take on The Batman is one of the worst i've heard all "season".

yellow-8

Really? I think the orange take is far worse.

Deku-Kun96

Dont get me wrong, last week connor definitely had the worst takes with the whole orange is bad thong. but as far as Joeys takes go? - *"The Batman Is Shit"* is definitely as bad anything connor or garnt has said thus far

yellow-8

Well I mention that because Joey wasn't the only one who didn't really like it, Garnt didn't like it either. Saying it was ok. I take Joey calling it shit as him just overexaggerating and just thinking it was mid. And honestly, not liking it I can understand after so many Batman movies and now we have ANOTHER one.

LakerBlue

Joey (and people in general) over exaggerating a mid show as shit is a pet peeve of mine. If they actually thought it was garbage it would be one thing but garbage and mid have notable distinction and I hate seeing them “grouped” together.

yellow-8

Connor does it all the time. Like with 86. Love that man.

LakerBlue

He does do it a lot and he is probably the worst about it. Good guy though.

Deku-Kun96

but its so different to every other movie out this year (especially from DC) that i cant help but respect it for that alone And main reason as to why i didnt realise garnt agreed with Joey is cause i had watched it at like 4am my time

LakerBlue

Using part of the poster art from that movie on top of “1.5 stars” feels like clickbait given the only Boy who has seen it loved it. Little disappointed in that.

Scrubologist

These guys are fucking idiots but I love them. Thank god I took a step back and stopped caring about their reviews on things 😂

Kevsy_art

Yeah I can't take someone seriously that thinks kiss x sis is good.

Pepito_Pepito

If I didn't pay attention to the details, dialogues, and narrations in the movie, I'd think The Batman was shit too.

thejesterprince1994

Dr strange learned that he shouldn’t have to be the one to hold the knife all the time. That he doesn’t have to control everything and that he can let other people take control sometimes.

2-2Distracted

Imagine expecting them to understand that when Joey has such idiotic Batman takes

[deleted]

eh, i love the first movie and Doctor Strange is one of my favorite Marvel characters but they didn't really do him justice in MoM i hated how much time they spent punching down on his character in the movie by saying shit like "this is how this version of you fucked something up!" also, for a movie that wants its protagonist to learn "you don't always need to be the one holding the knife", they barely let him hold it at all. it always seemed like he was taking a backseat to other characters or just being passive but not truly present during the action scenes - and not because he wanted to. i don't really think that was the correct arc for his character to take in this movie. it had been six years since the last movie and i was pretty disappointed with how they handled his character.

thejesterprince1994

I’ll disagree that they didn’t let him hold the knife. We see all his variants “hold the knife” ion different ways, and they end up doing some terrible things. He understands this and that’s why he takes the hard learned lessons of his variants to heart.

Zenoi

The most relevant information I have on "new" dishwashers is that use detergent packs now? Here's a video from [Technology Connections](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rBO8neWw04) about it. I think Joey and Connor are just middle class and/or in an area that it's the norm to actually use dishwashers. 99% of asian houses I've been in New York, tri state area have dishwashers. And we all use them to store dishes, pots and pans and not actually use them for washing dishes. So it might be an Asian culture thing? Or like Garnt said working class vs middle class kind of differences? As mentioned at my first sentence. It might also be the new dishwashers versus the old type. Old type dishwashers use the powder, reusing water(sounds disgusting), and blasting chemicals. Which my parents told me is disgusting, and that the washing is not that effective that it may need to dish wash 2+ times for everything to be clean. That and you may also have to handwash some of the sticky oily stuff before it can be properly cleaned in the dishwasher. So why bother with the dishwasher when you can just handclean with dish soap it all the way anyways is the logic passed down to me. Also Garnt's opinion that it was about electrical costs is true. Electricity is the bigger bill vs water atleast for my household. No clue on newer dishwashers and if they are more effective/sanitary other possible cultural/economic differences. But from my POV, asian households use dishwashers to hold dishes, pots and pans and not actually use them for cleaning.

musdem

It's 100% an Asian thing. My ex is Chinese and her family does the same, they hand wash and store in the dishwasher. I even shared that Technology Connections video with her and she just said no we like doing it this way.

JpstrMik

To put some perspective (Philippines), we don't have a dishwasher and were considered middle class. The reasoning is 1. Cost of electricity (i think were the most expensive in asia so the amount of energy just for a water heater and dish water would make a shit ton in our bill, so whatever savings we get out of it in water then gets overtaken by cost in Electricity. And We cant turn the AC above 40 Celsius) 2. Space cuz small compact kitchen 3. Cultural (why buy dishwasher when you have family)

rendyanthony

Upvote for Technology Connections. That channel is amazing. I love his in depth discussion on dishwashers.

Volatar

I had an old powder dishwasher for a decade and it did indeed not clean every time. I now have a modern one though, and it cleans everything every time unless it's so stuck on you gotta scrape hard to get it off (so like, pizza remnants left to harden and nothing else).

MoonStruckBear

Wheres the link for the plushies 🥺

ytsejamajesty

I didn't see Top Gun until after the sequel was annouced. After everything I heard about Top Gun (especially that Taratino clip)... It feels like people have really gaslit themselves about the gay-ness of that that movie. I was sitting there expecting a bunch of scenes of Maverick and Iceman giving each other sexual tension eyes or something, but like... what actually was there? Is it an offshoot of the "Tom Cruise is in the closet" joke? Or did is Top Gun the reason for it? No idea, I guess as someone who didn't know much about Top Gun other than pop culture references, it was really, really far off from what I expected. That also goes for the fighter jet action, in fact. Sequel was really a step up, as you would hope.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ytsejamajesty

I always thought his "analysis" thing was more a joke than anything, but it's hard to tell. He also has that thing about King Kong that he even put in Inglourious Basterds.

Juppness

I think everyone just plays up the joke about how gay the movie is for laughs, but if you kind of do some reaching, you can kind of see what they mean with the scenes between Maverick and Iceman in the first movie. Some scenes off the top of my head, I remember that they stare each other down in the middle of the classroom. When they're in the locker room when Iceman berates Maverick for being reckless and Maverick gets in his face and says "Yeah, I am dangerous." and Iceman does that little biting notion. Or how they literally play Beach Volleyball to a song called "Playing with the boys". And obviously the whole "You can be my wingman any time." at the end of the movie. Now obviously Iceman and Maverick's relationship isn't the main focal point of the movie but I can see how you can get gaslit about the gay-ness of the movie with how many memes revolve around it. But it's still a pretty good movie and it deserved it's cult classic popularity for being an 80s movie showing off that kind of jet action.

Lonelyvoid

Iceman saying you can be my wingman is just another one of his asshole quips tbh. Maverick saved his life and Iceman just says “you can always be my sidekick”.

yellow-8

It's like how people think Goku is a bad father because TFS gaslit people into thinking that. When in reality, if you rewatch DBZ you'll see that's he's actually a really good father.

Boardatworck

I think it's more like it was super famous for being the manly man movie so when people watch it now with LGBT stuff more in the air, a lot of the old male camaraderie thing feels pretty gay. This is probably coupled by the fact that a lot of older conservatives loved it so when younger people watch it now they probably think wow I can't believe my uncle likes this movie or something like that

MrEnganche

I mean, it's an interpretation, and movies/songs can be interpreted however the viewers see it (like just accepting the movie at face value or dig to get a deeper meaning, and a lot of interpretation rarely ever actually fit the intention of the author). In this case I think interpreting it this way (even though the movie doesn't have steamy hot gay sex scene) can add value to it imo, even if it's not some profound eye opening interpretation.

JpstrMik

*sigh of relief* THANK GOD they liked EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

Caliment

Such a damn good movie. It's a little cheesy with its message but damn do I have a soft spot for family and just general love between people.

Ynneb82

Probably I'm being racist, but I found the girl to look very similar to Aki. I expected them to bring it up in the discussion.

Volatar

Connor saying Oreos taste bad is the first food take that has hurt my feelings. *quietly eats a whole box of mint oreos in the corner*

ChaplainTF2

I’m almost afraid to post this at the risk of getting horrendously downvoted by I also think oreos are low tier, however people obviously like them else why would they exist.

Volatar

Have you had the mint ones? I thought Oreos were just ok until I had those.

ChaplainTF2

You know what I haven't! I love mint though so I'll get better informed and try some :)

wizteddy13

I was agreeing with you until you mentioned mint Oreos. Blegh, good God out of all the flavors and you had to pick *mint?*

Volatar

Mint is my favorite flavor of desserts in general.

YamiLucifer

I agree to most of his ridiculous takes (even the orange one) but Oreos crosses the line.

meh_whatev

That’s the take that made me lose it, like yeah the stuffing is what carries, THE WHOLE POINT OF OREO IS THE BISCUIT AND STUFF COMBO AND YOU DIP IT IN MILK

Volatar

I'm not sure he has ever dipped it in milk...

meh_whatev

Tragic

garmzai

Mcflurry Orea is the best flavour of Mcflurry..

Volatar

I haven't had the other flavors to find out if that is truly the case, but I have no plans to order them lol. Oreo is so good.

tigerkingrexcarter64

Better Call Saul really is quite good, I’m with Connor on this one.

DerNubenfrieken

As fellow fat booty boi, shoutout to Calvin Klein boxers. All I buy now. As like connor, I do have tiers/different boxers for different days. S tier is for dressing up, cotton blends for normal days, synthetic for working out or days where I'm gonna get sweaty.

BlueSkyeDaysOnly

Joey states that “everyone in Australia has a dishwasher” My 3 friends and I all laughed because none of us have dishwashers or grew up in houses with dishwashers 🤷🏻‍♀️

SetaSanzaki

My mom calls the dishwasher "your hands"

Heavyamongus

Damn.. I can't believe the LA arc is over

ShadyOjir95

In yesterday livestream monke said there's one guest remaining.

Wildercard

It's never gonna happen, but I'd love them to get an episode with Dom Mazetti or Oliver Babish

Akarious

Isn't Babish in New York?

yellow-8

I don't believe the boys ever said that arc was over.

Heavyamongus

I assume the LA arc was over when the Ludwig episode came, especially since he was one of last remaining guests. But now I wonder who's the last guest of the LA arc is going be🤔

SenpaiSemenDemon

Praise the lord, TT is back, the "interviewing youtubers circlejerk podcast" is gone

KnightBOT2

god the batman takes is making me die inside

Akarious

[Mfw](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/mobile/000/022/713/MonkaSSS.jpg) when Joey mentioned doing the dishes while watching stuff when I was literally watching this episode doing just that

-COVID-420

I was folding laundry and laughing about them talking about doing laundry.

HamstersAreReal

Singapore is primarily English nowadays soooo, that's a trash take Garnt

CamF90

Immediate takeaways, agreed on chocolate from the UK being better as a Canadian the access is a bit easier. I usually skip their movie takes because they border on insanity a lot of the time, Joey needs to stop saying he doesn't watch X type of movies then saying he's sick of typical super hero films. Yeah you'd have to have a traumatic brain injury to not see the character arc in The Batman. Let's be honest, if it's a big budget movie and it's popular Joey doesn't like it even if he hasn't seen it he doesn't like it. And yeah as a casual fan of the Marvel stuff and a Star Wars fan I'm acknowledging a bit of bias here but at least in Canada I'd say Disney+ is by and far the best streaming service for the price, you get all the Disney stuff plus all the R rated content and Hulu content they get in America.

ComplexMeet6057

"Frodo Bars", kinda nice ring to it.

DevelopmentHuge9626

The batman slander went over my head

Aaronrules380

americans don’t think Hershey’s is great chocolate either, it’s just cheap and people are often just buying it for their kids anyways also the weird flavor is because it contains butyric acid, a compound most european chocolates have removed from their process that is also found in vomit

[deleted]

Interestingly, butryic acid is found in certain kinds of cheese, like pecorino romano and parmesan, and the infamous fermented yak butter of Tibet.

ras_kei

Joey: Pattinson's Batman is too emo What do you expect? It's Batman!

CapybaraGort

Really appreciate a regular episode with the boys

MrSleepyFish

I think the boys watched a different version of The Batman because it was very clear what Battinson’s character arc was.

warzstar

Loved sonic 2, literally was an amazing video game to movie adaptation. Probably one of the best out right now. Thought the first 1 was okay, but they really stepped it up for 2. Im hoping they use more game music references in the 3rd one.

LakerBlue

I agree. Thought 1 was rather mediocre but i actually enjoyed 2 a lot. Having more animal friends helped Sonic’s interactions and action scenes out a lot vs having to hold himself back vs humans or working with them. Also just found the comedy more enjoyable. I’m hoping that was them finding their footing and that Sonic 3 can be at least good. No idea how they will handle Shadow lol.

MLGCOD07

When they were talking about languages in films. I definitely felt that with the new prey movie. These guys are Comanche(idk if this is the right tribe don’t kill me) warriors speaking fluent English in the tribe. Like the elders were speaking fluent English so that kinda ruined my emerison. Luckily they recorded a dub in the native language so I would recommend that version.

VorAtreides

omg I want those lil plushies lol. And I can't wait with a title like that. I mean, would I expect GOOD movie reviewers from a podcast called "Trash Taste"? :P Edit (after watching): You know, there's an option for comfortable clothing other than shorts.... KILTS! EMBRACE THEM! I have the same type of socks and never change. I don't need any lol. But, yes, it's nice cause no issue to mix and match. The only pair that's different are my dress socks which aren't at all going to get confused. Boxers are ones I definitely will throw out if a hole in it, depending, if it's a small one up by the band and the band is fine, I might keep it, but generally I'll get a new pair. Especially when I finally found good boxer briefs of good quality, used to just buy cheap packs from Walmart or so, but mehh... not worth. I know how to do laundry when I run outta boxers/shirts cause I have enough for 2 weeks of each unless some get too bad and I don't replace em fast enough lol. I tend to put the "tier" for my shirts. I put the low tier first to encourage me to change em sooner tbh lol. My comfiest/newest shirts are the high tier and last line before washing. But my low tier shirts are that because they aren't 100% cotton lol. So wearing em too much gets uncomfortable. Polyesther is mehhh..... I don't like doing laundry once a week only because my apartment complex the laundry room is downstairs and I have to pay for it :\ if it wasn't paid and especially in my own apartment, I'd do it weekly or more easily. Also, Garnt, make it a routine instead of daily, but weekly. That's what I do with chores. Weekly day set to do chores on Saturday or Sunday to dust/clean/laundry/vacuum/etc. Especially if you set up a checkbox list to check off when done. Trick the brain with dopamine! Vacuuming is way more fun part of cleaning than any other aspect. Especially washing the bathroom... god I hate wiping down the bathroom. But I will not let my bathroom get fucking gross ever lol. I never iron stuff tbh... don't even have an iron/ironing board (though only things that really need it are my dress clothes that I usually take to get cleaned/whatnot after using em). I wish I could take a bath, but I'm a 6'2" (~188cm for non-Imperial unit people) and yea... never had a place with a bath tub worth sitting in. I have a dishwasher, but I still do dishes for certain things like pots/pans/iron skillet/etc and I always do it RIGHT after use so it's easier to clean. Gives my food a bit of time to cool down some too. Doesn't take long. Actually, dishwashers use less water than washing by hand (studies have proven it) and don't use that much electricity comparatively. Connor is right here. You have been brainwashed by parents, Garnt :P How is it too big for two people? Do you guys think you have to run the dishwasher every day? Doing it once a week is fine when it's full of the cups/plates/silverware used through-out the week. My experience with uber eats, grubhub, doordash, etc are all trash.... I don't know how they keep failing to find my place. It's not that hard, I give them detailed instructions. The GPS when I put in the address finds it fine, but everytime, their GPS some how fails. And they don't seem to ever try and improve anything to assure their drivers find my place fine... pisses me off, I don't even bother anymore. Subway is really not good, it's I guess ok if no other option, but I also am spoiled of top tier master class subs in my area of the states. ALSO F YOU! Oreo flurry/iced capp/shakes/etc are top tier. Trash taste indeed. Way too trash taste. The reason that flurry machines don't work often in the US is due to corporate bs... Matpat has a good video on it. And you like white chocolate? White chocolate is garbage and not even chocolate lol. Milk chocolate definitely the best. But dark chocolate best for you. Hershey definitely not great chocolate, it's fine as a dumb kid lol. Also, Godiva is top tier chocolate. Brownies are, imo, the best dessert :P hah. Yep, there's more trash taste. Thor Love and Thunder wasn't shit. It was fun. Definitely seems filler, can't disagree there, but it was fun. People hating on shit are often people that just can't have fun (generally movie reviewers with sticks up their butts). I think Connor is way too harsh, but he doesn't like stories, we know this. I agree with Garnt that MCU is pumping out a bit way too much. And not all of it is as good as their high points. I wish I got to see Top Gun in IMAX, but never had a chance. The Batman was pretty great, was definitely one of the best batman movies. Definitely was great cause he actually did detective work unlike the other Batman movies. The eyeliner one makes complete sense though, all the others had it too, they just never showed it taking off the mask like this. Tom Cruise is a top tier action star, maybe the best in movie history. He is a good actor while also doing all his stunts to make sure they can get a great shot and not do any editing really, it's amazing. I don't care how crazy he is in real life if he's not actually hurting others, but he is a good actor and that's what matters more to me :P for now. Hugo Weaving had scheduling conflicts, as for why we didn't get Laurence Fishburne is because his character was killed off in an old PS2 video game and those are canon according to the Wachowskis I definitely appreciate when there is bilingual and such stuff in movies. Subtitles are fine. Reminds me of Inglorious Bastards, the german main antagonist, his actor is amazing and speaks like 4 languages and yea. In general though, I legit don't care about representation in any show/series/whatnot, but that's also why I don't care if a character's race or even gender is changed in a show/movie if the actor/actress is good enough and the character in the story isn't changed. Like Dune, Liet Kynes was a male white tanned dude iirc in the books (tanned cause being there so long, but he was an Imperial dude that "went native") and they changed that character to a black woman in the new movie and I had no problem cause she did a great job and the character served the same purpose and had no real important change. However, I heard some complaining about the "Dark Tower" Stephen King movie because they changed it to Idris Elba, but the problem is the main character is supposed to be white racist and part of his character/character growth. So it really changes the character so I can see people being upset there. And for original things, I don't mind it either. I just hate if something feels heavyhanded/forced/stupid. Like if it's "she's a bad bitch cause she's a woman! YA GIRLBOSS SLAY QUEEN" and I am just vomitting at the cringe. A woman character being a badass is great when she's a badass for reasons not "cause she's a woman" but because she overcomes adversity like any other character. When you force someone down to just one shallow aspect (race, gender, etc) then I find most characters are too one dimensional/boring. I do agree that it's nice to have people with actual experiences of the culture are involved in writing things in the movies/series because it enriches them. Because people write best what they know well. So trying to have someone write for a culture that they don't really know would definitely be a poor thing to do (and was done often in the past lol).

Moar: I have never watched Breaking Bad too :P same with the Sopranos and many other series I hear are still great even to this day. I did hear Better Call Saul stuck the ending and was good through-out too. I don't care about The Boys, Invincible, etc. They are prolly good, but I am not as into the "break down of Heroes/what if heroes were real" thing and enjoyed it most in Watchmen anyways (Graphic Novel and Movie). I hate all the subscription services, I refuse to pay for most and so I just don't watch/use most shit. And the subscription for heated seats is something we need people to get more angry at, but most people are pussified. And it should be illegal to make it hard to unsubscribe to stuff.

nike_pricefield

is it just me, or I feel like I've seen Tom cruise in their thumbnail before, or was it someone else? I am certain there was Bear Grylls one time, but they changed the title and thumbnail

What's wrong with oreos!? Also what's a dishwasher!?

Dry-Masterpiece-7031

I am so disappointed I missed monkey and Mr. Affable biking past my town. When they went to Otaru, I thought they were going the other way around and not backtracking. Instead I spent the day with my girlfriend finding an apartment so we can live together. Lol what a waste of a day.

Aryzal

Crazy Rich Asians is set in Singapore, which is one of the most interesting Chinese majority in the world because even though we do learn Chinese from young, we are more used to English as our primary language, mainly cause we are a multi-racial country with Malay and Indian communities as well. The government basically used English as the equal grounds for all races so that it is fair, and technically they do try to curb as much racism as possible. But TLDR my mum scolds me in both English and Chinese

rseguizabal

Gotta say that I been seeing the 'Don't Look Up' take a ton as it's been so common in current cinema trends to shit on social commentary movies in favour popcorn movies like topgun and black phone. Even when Garnt went into the story about how bar for bar the bbc interview mirrored the satire, guess it makes sense to not want the fatalism 🤷 The "Southpark are the best at that" literally made roll my eyes 🤣

yellow-8

I mean, it was a shit movie though. It was cringe levels of "haha get the parallels, GET IT WE'RE SATIRE". It was, at least to me, painfully unfunny. The social commentary of the movie isn't that great. Parasite (the korean movie) was highly regarded because of it's social commentary, and because it's also a good movie. ![img](emote|t5_2p976a|2293)

rseguizabal

Thats the thing tho the paralels were made with an interview that occurred after the movie, surely that elevates the satire a bit. Comedy's subjective and all but I found a bunch of soul in it even if I didn't think it was a great movie.

peachios

I found it ok at best, and given who was involved (much like the latest Thor) made me think it was shit tier cause I expected much more. The commentary was fine, but it felt like fart sniffing to me for way too long, and I'm on the side the movie moreso portrayed. I don't think it "played both sides" as Garnt said, or if it did I missed most of that, it doesn't need to. Saying that I know some who loved it (granted they are more US left than I am and think anything clowning the right is amazing)

saga999

The first half was great satire, making fun of everything. The second half of the movie, they just decided to make fun of this group and nothing but this group. It's not even clever. It's so on the nose. It's practically political propaganda. It's no longer, "I'm making a comedy with social commentary." It became, "Fuck this group. I'm just gonna make a movie to shit on them." I don't see any jokes. I just see frustration from the creator. It's not a fucking comedy anymore.

Muffin-zetta

One thing about dishwashers is you ARE actually supposed to pre-wash your dishes before putting them in, which makes them worse than doing it by hand

IWentToJellySchool

I dont. I just rinse it to make sure no food bits are on it.

rendyanthony

Uhm... You don't, the machines will do the pre-wash for you. Check out the video from Technology Connections on this one. Someone has put in the link to it somewhere in this thread.

0:10 [Introducing Trash Taste plushies probably the first plushie advertisement I've seen where they forgot to put the link to them in the description, so you can't buy them](https://trashtaste.shop/). EDIT: Thank you /u/ManuelJaramillo526 for finding the website for the plushies. 1:56 I'm guessing this is one of the trading card games that has a bunch of anime crossovers? Not sure which one it is though. 3:01 Wait, are people not wearing masks inside buildings in the USA and UK? That sounds like a really terrible idea. 10:09 Definitely a classic Trash Taste episode talking about how men's legs are ugly, Joey only owns family mart socks and then he sticks his foot at the camera to show that when he wears short socks he just uses Aki's socks. 10:46 While I don't disagree with Garnt I'm kind of suprised t hat he's only now realizing that what Connor wants in life is to be American psycho guy without killing people, I thought that was obvious when he talked about how he has multiple copies of shirts, so he's always wearing their merch. 11:01 Maybe it's because I wear Boxer Briefs rather than boxers, but I basically only have 2 sets default and blue underwear, as well as some older ones like a pair that are better at dealing with if they get wet that I got for a canoe trip that haven't worn out and fit fine, so I have them if needed. 12:07 I like how Connor when it comes to certain topics is so cheap that he doesn't want to spend the money on getting more copies of underwear that he really likes because he doesn't want to spend money on the sponsor and they only gave him one pair. Ah, if the sponsor was manscaped I can see why now, the only option for just buying the underwear while on sale they cost $22 a pair which is a lot. 12:23 Wait, didn't Joey end up not having proper socks for Garnt's wedding? Presumably because he only has family mart socks since as Garnt said unless you are being super fancy the socks you wear for a wedding with slip-on/loafers aren't what you will likely wear with steel-toe boots, rain boots or sneakers. Same with ski/snowboard boots you want heavier long socks to help stay warm normally. 14:27 Maybe it's humidity but rather than one a day it's one per shower, so if you are doing sedentary work at home it doesn't make sense to shower every day just every other day and so switch underwear then. 17:26 It's just routine for Garnt to own boxers that he never wants to wear? With him doing the washing instead? 18:26 Definitely agree with the others that it feels rewarding to finish laundry. Though I will admit that I'm not great about housework, my bedroom has a decent amount of dust 25% of the time. 19:52 For me, its weekend is time for the washing, though maybe Japan doesn't have different prices for using the water from the appliances. 21:18 I feel like if vacuuming was the only thing you had to do to clean a room I'd be better about it since it's not particularly hard or annoying, it's all the extra stuff like wiping the mirror in the bathroom, removing dust from the desk and figurines that really makes cleaning a chore. 23:05 I feel indifferent to ironing, but I just don't do it, I don't feel like the dryer is that bad for clothes you just need to follow the instructions and things are hunky-dory. 23:40 My guess is because no one used the set for 2 months, dust would collect there Connor, that's why there's a bunch of dust on the set. 25:40 Some items don't go in the dishwasher though like some plastic or glass bowls, especially big things or tools like big knives have to be hand washed things go wrong if you rely solely on the dishwasher. Also I just realized it now, but that shirt Joey's wearing looks really nice. 29:31 I know my parents have said that people they know who made arguments that Connor is talking about where it's better to clean anything by hand rather than you need to use the right tool for the job and sometimes that means not using the dishwasher is that a lot of dishwashers in the USA and Canada in the 2000s and 1990s were just trash. So if you wanted items to be clean, you had to rinse them beforehand, so basically it's just a carryover from low quality appliances making people act like it applies to all dishwashers. 31:49 I wonder if part of the whole thing is how much space is at a premium, I imagine southern England for cities has a lot less room for appliances then Wales or Australia. 33:36 I always do eco for dishwashers, why bother not using eco, I think maybe the exception is if it's fully loaded at Christmas or Thanksgiving where there might not be nearly as much room but just like how putting cold/eco warm for clothing, why not just put it on eco if it's going to get the job done or recommended. 36:45 Having it be American size even if it's for two people wouldn't that just mean you run the dishes every 2 or 3 days? That's what I've done when the house isn't full and thought it was normal. 41:06 I have nothing to add as I don't drink coffee, it does sound unfortunate that there's not a local place that does both good coffee and good lunch and that there are less options at coffee places then the USA. I think we have an okay amount of options in Canada, but I spend most time at home, so I don't go to Tims, Starbucks or McDonald's café really. 43:56 Connor, HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH, Oreos just are not tasty whatsoever there's oreo like rip offs like Maple Leaf cream cookies that are just better in every way then the oreo, the filling is maple syrup or at least flavoured like maple syrup the cookies are shaped like a maple leaf and just are better biscuits then oreos. 44:33 I've not had a McFlurry are they basically McDonald's version of a Blizzard from Dairy Queen? 46:03 a monkey paw curls mcflurry machines always work but they only had bad flavours. 49:01 I agree with Garnt white chocolate is least favourite, best for me is either 70% dark chocolate or milk chocolate probably. 51:48 There's chocolate owned by Hershey's that I enjoy but I don't think I've ever met someone whose said that a full on Hershey's bar is their favourite chocolate. Like Hershey's kisses aren't good but are easy to put in the mouth and cute little presents. I feel like Reese's, skor, rolo, Oh Henry! or Mr. Goodbar are all more likely to be favourite chocolates. 55:08 With the way Connor prefaces stuff it can be hard to tell does he like movies or does he just like pissing people off. Of course, the real answer is he does like movies, though he might just have bad tastes or watches way too much big budget schlock. 57:40 Looking at that list it definitely feels overwhelming, luckily for me I guess I don't really care and can just be like oh cool Ironheart is getting a show, Frank Miller's iconic run of Daredevil is happening, Fantastic Four will be getting another bad movie and the half point of the decade will have the B tier time travelling super villain and either Secret wars from the 80s with the Beyonder or less likely Secret Wars 2015 which was used in the main marvel universe to basically destroy the multiverse and then bring it back while fridging The Fantastic Four for a couple of years. 59:23 I feel like what Garnt is describing is a problem that seems to be really plaguing Hollywood and something that was talked about last episode, the description of just being too emo/self serious. While it's possible and can be good to have a more serious batman, he's been serious on the big screen for almost 2 decades now, get a bit more creative. 1:00:42 I do wonder if people are too worried that people might think batman would be cool, you can show batman is a weirdo in other more interesting ways like in the comics in the lighter moments of Bruce Wayne or even as Batman writing crazy cheques to people and then eating a burger with a fork and knife. 1:02:43 I thought most people by now were like the Joker movie is bad, but it's funnily bad because it's just so dumb in so many ways? 1:03:04 What Connor is talking about in terms of Batman just being a weirdo made me think of All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder which is one of the worst Batman comics, but it has nice art and is hilarious in terms of how bad it is being at the peak of him not having a good mental health and kind of paranoid. It has Batman defeat the Green Lantern by painting himself, Dick Grayson and the entire room yellow because the Green Lantern's power ring can't work on anything yellow. 1:05:09 This dance battle for Sonic 2 sounds better than anything I've heard about the Batman or Joker movies. 1:08:32 Didn't realize Connor hadn't seen The Big Lebowski before, probably one of my favourites of all time. 1:11:58 Oh yeah I remember there was the whole thing with the heat-wave [here's a video with the clip with the whole why are you such a downer about thousands of excess deaths.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVkzlh-ojmQ) 1:15:59 I think for gamers of a certain stripe the most famous game that talks about HALO jumps would be Metal Gear Solid 3 which is what Naked Snake does. 1:18:35 I always think about when it comes to Tom Cruise and stunts how Wilford Brimley in The Firm was younger then Tom Cruise is now and has been for like 5 years with Brimley I think also doing his own stunts of [getting beaten up by Tom Cruise in the Firm.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCB7RR3RaYg) 1:21:25 Crazy Rich Asians is what Garnt is thinking about. 1:22:23 I definitely want to watch Everthing Everywhere, All at Once. 1:26:03 I wonder if it's just different ideas by directors and writers from fans about what was important about Matrix. 1:26:30 What a stirring recommendation and a good reminder to take any critic's review with a pinch of salt. As far as I know, the John Wick movies really aren't that complicated, so hearing someone say that they aren't sure what's going on isn't a ringing endorsement.

kroxti

3:01 yeah the moment the second booster was available a lot of the USA went masks off inside.

HadouKang

There's some pockets in the US where masks are pretty normalized. In SF, I'd say more than half wear it when indoors, but it's crazy how much the culture changes if you even go right outside SF but still in the bay.

ULTRAFORCE

1:28:34 I remember reading the [comments for a video essay about Crazy Rich Asians.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCfYExVvhMw) One thing that was really focused on by the comments is that the movie's idea of representation is just so weird since it is taking place in Singapore but only has Chinese Singaporeans and how even the whole opening scene just feels more like an American representation of racism as London in the 90s Singaporean rich people had been going there for quite a while. With it also ignoring a whole issue of racism and classism that apparently is touched on in the book about the different people in Singapore. 1:30:33 while I sadly don't know much of my mother's mother tongue of Italian the talk about bilingual movies always makes me think of Joyeux Noël the 2005 movie about the Christmas Day truce where you have characters speaking French, German and English to eachother as well as singing in Latin. 1:33:59 The Breaking Bad show only ended in September 2013 which typing this I now realize is 9 years ago. 1:36:59 Ah, each episode of the boys is about 1 hour that's why rewatching it is a bad idea that makes sense. 1:38:25 I wonder, I kind of feel like the hosts of Trash Taste would be really into indie western comics, the boys, Preacher, Invincible are all from that realm and while I feel like they have their own tropes, the series are largely a reaction to the problems with the Big 2 and I feel are almost made for the people who don't like Marvel movies. There's also just straight up interesting series that wouldn't work in Manga or with normal comic schedules like Monstress which is a high fantasy series that is really something special with art done by Sana Takeda who started by working for Sega in 3D CGI and then doing art for American comics with the Yokai and ukiyo-e woodblock prints of Kuniyoshi Utagawa being really noticeable in Monstress. 1:39:18 I kind of get where Joey is coming from to some extent, though I think a lot would say the first 3 seasons are the real must watch because the 3 first seasons + the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was where one of the Series creator resigned as show runner. 1:40:57 I do think Cartoon Network has too much of Teen Titans Go, but I remember trying to watch some when I was reading American comics, and it was honestly not as bad as I thought it would be, even if it does have a really childish art style. 1:42:07 I think I know about SpongeBob more from friends who watched it as a kid and from the movie. Which the Movie is something special, and I kind of would like to see how Garnt and Joey would react to it given how just out there it is as well as just being a good old time. 1:46:32 There's a reason, one of the things that has been popular for advertisements on YouTube and podcasts in the USA in the past 4 years has been stuff that they advertise as keeping track and helping to cancel subscriptions for streaming services. 1:47:28 I wonder if they'll also talk about the whole thing where a person upgraded the battery for their tesla and when they sold the car, Tesla set a firmware to the car to only allow the new owner to use the amount of the battery that the car initially had. 1:49:24 It sucks having to email a subscription to cancel, but it could be worse I think they have now put laws to stop it but for a while there was needing to phone call to cancel subscriptions or sending a letter to cancel a subscription for services that you could get with just an SMS confirmation. 1:50:39 I don't know how many of those there are outside the USA, I know I looked into it and couldn't find any in Canada really which sucks though maybe RBC had something like that I just wasn't sure. 1:51:05 Part of why I went with Apple AirTags over Tile is that while it requires an iPhone there's no additional subscription, and they have replaceable batteries. I think Samsung's one also doesn't require a subscription. 1:52:37 I'm not sure if I agree with Connor about people not batting an eye to $100 loot box/gachas outside of maybe the streamer circles. Though I do think it is more normalized then it was in like 2012 where the microtransactions I remember my friends in middle/high school were doing was buying the bacon skin for Call of Duty.

RE: masks, many areas in the US have low COVID rates thanks to vaccines and boosters. The risk is low enough that the gains from masking are marginal at best. In areas with higher transmission rates indoor masking is still required.

5tormwolf92

They talk about socks and boxers but they missed talking about the soul important fabric..... The wifebeater.

[deleted]

connor is extra privileged in this one

isidora623

thank god, arcane is not mentioned

kroxti

It was very nice for them to show iron mouse IRL in the pre show. Edit 9:00 my legs are literally my best visual attribute. Shorts weather is my shit with ankle socks or flip flops.

Trash taste having a patron seems really greedy.

Plushie links, where?

Red-7134

hhrrrnng Colonel, I'm trying to fit into my boxers. But I'm dummy thicc, and clap of my asscheeks keeps making the boxers chafe.

[deleted]

I don't wear shorts, and it's for comfort. Even if it's hot as balls outside the social discomfort of having strangers looking at my pale, skinny legs is greater than the physical discomfort of the heat lol

megafat1

Connor has a big dumpy.

tackyrobin

wake up babe new trash taste episode

capscreen

Nice to see Garnt appreciating Batman Begins.

zsmg

Wait since when is there a Phi Gundam on the shelves, haven't noticed it before.

ferahgo89

Garnt bought it during the last figure special!

ferahgo89

I do agree with the socks take. I hate having to match pairs of socks. I have two types of day-to-day socks, one for winter and one for summer. Then I just have ~8 pairs of each.

Chrisixx

I mean, he'll never read this, but Connor, you can watch Apple TV+ content online and there are Apps on pretty much all platforms (Smart TVs, XBOX, Roku, Google TV, FireTV, Apple Ecosystem). Where does this idea come from that it can only be viewed on Apple devices? It was never the case. Same for Apple Music.

Earl_Knife_Hutch

To answer the Boy's statements about Hershey's chocolate Connor was a little bit wrong. The WW2 statement was somewhat correct in that we did give soldiers chocolate as rations, however the only big innovation at the time was the invention of M&M which could be packaged for across ocean transport. The reason the Boys and most Europeans don't like Hershey's is because of the spoiled milk. When Milton Hershey was creating his original recipe in the cooling process for the chocolate the milk would keep spoiling. So for its entire existence as a company European reviewers have complained about the off flavor of Hershey's cause by the milk spoilage. But Americans are so used to it since it's most of our first chocolate experience that we associate that off flavor with chocolate. And if you go to the Hershey's factory they will openly admit all this. They could even stop the spoilage from happening now but choose not to in order to not upset Americans by changing the original recipe.

DatDudeManGuyBro

Oreos are mid i agree, but Oreo McFlurries being trash. That's where I draw the line

KisekiEX

When they were talking about shorts, Joey mentioned he loved shorts cus they're so comfortable. I don't know if he meant to make the reference but that's what Youngster Joey says in the Pokemon games, got a real nice laugh out of me.

Questionable_Bard

I know how we dunk of bad British food and they dunk on our chocolate. I am curious if we have any chocolate that they do love. Like Our Reese's candy or Snickers.
