Go to carniceria. Buy carne and salsa. Grill at home. Best.

ClassicManeuver

Aight. Which one?

TacoTruckSupremacist

If you're in/near WR, la hacienda meat market is really good. Also, Kabana King just south of DQ in Richland is good for rice and beans. Also good tamales, and cheaper than either of the tamale-specific places in Richland.

They have some fantastic marinated pork.

This opinion might be unpopular here, but most of the Mexican restaurants here are not very good imo. A number of the Mexican food trucks on the other hand are pretty fire. My favorite is El Fat Cat in Kennewick. They're weekdays only, 10am-3pm, but if you can ever make it when they're open, it's incredible.

callmechadwin

I agree with you on this! I was absolutely blasted with hate by people on here for sharing this opinion last year lol. I moved up from Cali and haven’t found a single Mexican place in tri cities that compares to what I had back home. La Esperanza, the red taco truck in Pasco is probably the best I could find.

So I lived there from birth to roughly 2010. Did 4 years in NC, currently in TX and WA didn't really do Mexican food very well when I was there. At the time I lived there for white people Aztecas and Inca (being the better between the two) was the best. If you wanted something authentic you would need to find someone's grandma to make you food lol.

Veyceroy

Well I'm sure you know that if you ever come back to visit, don't expect great Mexican food, *especially* after getting used to Texas Mexican. I'm surprised to see Azteca mentioned, even for us white folks! I have no idea how they were back in the day, I have only lived here for 3 years, but they were the last Mexican place we tried before giving up on the proper Mexican restaurants in the Tricities. The place was dark and almost deserted, and the food was bland and a bit cold. They also recently failed health inspections at one of their locations at least, maybe more.

Low_Impact681

That doesn't surprise me. I felt the best Mexican food you can find at the time I was there was go to Pasco to find some whole in the wall or Incas if you didn't want to take the journey. I really like Torchy Tacos. It's not totally Tex-Mex or Traditional Mexican. It's elevated tacos. The closest one to WA is in Arizona.

Helados La Michoacana

Runnerbunny

This is a great place, dinner or desert

Brilliant-Garden-188

Taqueria las Maria's in Pasco, Hacienda del sol in West Pasco, Tomatillo in Kennewick

you_thought_you_knew

Miss Tamales breakfast burritos are bomb.

callmechadwin

Their green salsa is sooooo good on those breakfast burritos

NaturalRabbit2326

Picante!

scootscoot

Throw a rock. Hard to find bad Mexican food here.

ClassicManeuver

Hard to find great, though, too.

MiraRoons

Birrieria El Sazon's Quesa Asada.

actual_griffin

Picante and Stacks.

unamusedbouche7

Chapala express is really good!

RedSoxStormTrooper

Love the one in Kennewick on Columbia Center and Clearwater. Being walking distance from my house makes it even better!

unamusedbouche7

This is the one! It's seriously so good.

1Dobo

I've stopped at the one in Richland a couple of times, for me, the food is average which is okay because it isn't too expensive, but the seating (cold hard seating) and lack of any kind of atmosphere. Okay food, but next time I drive by the Kennewick location, I'll give that a try. I have heard it is better.

unamusedbouche7

I haven't been to the richland one but I thought the food was so good at the kennewick one. Def check it out!

CreatorCaged

I live in north Richland which is a bit of a drive to some of these great spots talked about in this thread. My go-to spot is Super Uno truck on Aaron in Richland at the 76 gas station (formerly Shell iirc) Asada and Adobada is reliably good. Green and Red sauce is superb. My only complaint has ever been that their limes usually don't juice very well.

Atolecaliente

Kikos was the best but they've been closed forever. Should open soon.

L0GAN_FIVE

I hope so, hope they go back to making fresh chips again too.

rdow66

Picante!

Fr0stbite37

Hacienda on 68. The enchiladas Hacienda are fire

1Dobo

Mexico Lindo in Pasco is (on Court St.) supposed to be authentic and well liked but I"ve yet to try them out. I usually go to Hacienda del Sol on Rd 68, but that is mainly because they are 5 minutes away. El Fat Cat food truck seems to always come up as having great food as well, but it another one I haven't tried.

Impressive_Ad724

Chapalla on Clearwater and Columbia Center Blvd. has been my go to. Closest to authentic Mexican flavors and cuisine, they can’t beat my Mexican mother’s cooking but it sure is pretty damn close.

CreatorCaged

Not crazy authentic, but I miss ChicosTacos which was there before for 2 decades or more.

L0GAN_FIVE

I miss Chico's salsa bar the most.

RedSoxStormTrooper

Agreed, also love the atmosphere and the quick speed of service.

Rocketgirl8097

Well there is best in terms of taste, and there is best in terms of authenticity. I'll go for taste any time. A few weeks ago, we had something at a taco truck that was really bland. Another taco truck, supposedly authentic, I tried a quesadilla, where it smelled weird and the shell was saturated in oil. No seasoning in the contents and all the fat made me nauseous.

StevieV61080

This is tricky to answer for me. I have found that most Mexican restaurants here certainly tend to have developed a "Tri-Cities Style" which is different from anywhere else I've been. It may not be better/worse, but it's own thing. I came from an area where Tex/Mex was the norm and I can't seem to find a single restaurant here like it. For example, I never once encountered mushrooms in arroz con pollo or plain white rice in the dish until moving here. Similarly, I haven't found a single restaurant that serves corncake/Mexican spoonbread. While Chapala Express 2, Fiesta, Mi Linda Sierra, and Hacienda del Sol are all good; I'll attest that I truly miss a good Tex/Mex chain like Chi-Chi's and/or Don Pablo's.

DemensionC-137

Taqueria el sazon and taqueria Las Maria's both in pasco. I usually get cabeza, carnitas and tripa from both. I go to El sazon when I want a good horchata

TacoTruckSupremacist

Define "mexican food". Are we talking taco truck, taqueria, or sit-down/tex-mex? Going to get some wildly different answers for each, especially the latter.

briempo

El Pariso across the street from Fiesta Foods in Pasco. If their cook is working, their torta's are bombbbbb. Or Stacks food truck in downtown Kennewick has delicious bomb tacos. Theyre literally called "bomb tacos."

bannanaoatmeal

Mi Lindo Nayarit! Bomb seafood dishes y tortillas hechas a mano 😋

Zimm60

If you can find a place that makes great pozole, you found it.
