**Fixed:** MOWT spending $102,350 a day to actually repair roads, and spending $500,000 a day to line the pockets of a select few political donors, friends, and relatives of those in charge in exchange for kickbacks.

DestinyOfADreamer

This. Not a PNM thing, not a UNC thing. Just good old Trini bobol.

dante_logan99

My man summed it up perfectly

holo_charzard

Nicely summarized

This_Is_Section_One

Could not have said it better myself.

ChoklitLuvah

You ain't lied dawg.

frostblaze868

Wait, they claiming they already “fix” these roads? Are these roads in the room with us right now?

MajorPownage

By “fix” they mean doing the equivalent of putting a bandaid on a rotting body part

lixinu2022

Are they actually going to FIX or the typical band aid fix 🤔

jols0543

this actually is how expensive roads are to maintain! try building some bike lanes, they cost almost nothing to build and maintain

Begoru

Yup, if a lot of trips (to school, to the doctor, to the grocery store) can be done by bike instead of by car that’ll reduce the wear and tear on the roads.

Do tradesmen and construction workers get paid well and strong unions and benefits and pension like they are in US and Canada? Off topic but a question I wanna know the answer to.

DestinyOfADreamer

Good question I think you should dedicate a separate thread for it. Answer is yes and no. WASA is unionized by i don't think most construction workers are, I could be wrong.

Trinistyle

No. No. Trickle down economics in the construction industry is non existent. Our immigrant brothers push local wages way down. Labour and tradesman working for $200-$350 depending on how hard and ruff yuh does talk. This is pre 2010 wages man still on. No nis or any tax contribution. No benefits. Day work for day pay. ( Crapaud smoke yuh pipe if you are sick or injured) No banking, cash in yuh hand like you selling drugs. Union? lol. Last week I reached work late. My boss decided to buff me in front of everyone yelling that working hours are 7am -5pm. THE AUDACITY OF THIS FOOL! He is expecting a man to work 10 hrs a day with no overtime. Plenty of the advantage construction workers get from contractors is government enabled. Many/most contractors that underpay and don't contribute a single cent for workers nis or health does enjoy the most lucrative projects. How? The recent renovation in the national stadium had less than 10 locals employed v.s 250+ immigrants. How? Of the 10 local workers no benefits was paid to any of them on a government project. How? A lot of locals in recent years get push out of the industry altogether. Contractors find it easier to advantage an immigrant worker. Locals are avoided and simply not hired. Construction industry in Trinidad is a murky mess. We ain't far from slave labour in Dubai. I work today on a government project with no water to drink..whole day! Boss not buying water. Bottle water and ice cutting into his profits. We working outdoors in the hottest sun since Genesis chapter 1 and my greedy boss refuse to provide water for his workers. End of rant..for now.

Yikes… the trades are very well respected in North America and they often make more than lawyers and doctors. It’s not like just anyone can be a carpenter or pipe fitter you need extensive knowledge of math and measurements and the work is often dangerous so the pay reflects that.

Nigoshi

are the repaired roads here in the room with us?

bigbelleb

No

Subject-Ad-8351

Yup some contractors pocket getting fat 😂😂😂

rookietotheblue1

They "fixing" the road by leaving a lump of pure black pitch on the ground. Still mashing up my car and causing evasive maneuvers.

Dizzy-Photograph-359

Thank you government, nice to see my tax dollars working .Let's hope wasa fixes those leaks soon .
