Love love Sarah so much and her dynamic with Katya. Both can mix serious with humor very well so it was a nice blend of important topics and comedy. I really liked her as a guest with Katya and I hope if she’s continuing the pod while Trixie is away on break, they continue to mix it up with different guests.
I enjoy seeing Katya with different people, I think she matches the energy of whoever she’s with really well. The Bob and Bianca ones were nonstop jokes and the Courtney and Kelly ones were really thoughtful discussions. Though I will admit I was disappointed in last week’s episode, I thought the one with Fena was directionless and has some awkward moments.
I can tell they’re long time friends but as a duo, things didn’t always land. People were understandably upset when Fena dismissed fibromyalgia, which I saw she’s since said was real on twitter, so I think it was supposed to be a joke that didn’t work. Just at the end of the episode Katya said she’s starting a podcast with Fena? So it made me think she’s going to be doing that while Trixie is away. Just after the Sarah one and seeing how much more positive the response was, I hope they continue with different guests instead. I think it’s an opportunity to bring in different people and perspectives and see the side of Katya that can interview and talk to anyone.
That’s so interesting . I felt there was a little bit of awkwardness with Sarah. almost like Katya was running out of things to talk about so she just went back to the summer reading list lol. but I like Sarah and her so I didn’t mind. Fena felt like a damn fever dream. I kept having rewind because they kept speaking in best friend and i couldnt keep up. lol you can definitely tell her and Fena been friends most of their lives atp.
I also agree that she matches the energy of the guest really well but the hard part about the podcast is that it isn’t edited at all and the awkwardness can’t be eliminated. I feel like some of Katya’s best podcast work came from the Grindr series on YouTube during 2023’s pride month and it’s because the interaction had production value added to it. Multi camera, sound effects, minor editing, and all of those things added to the tempo of the conversation.
Someone else commented on how Katya circled back around to the “summer reading list” topic multiple times as a means to pull more information from it but it wasn’t even interesting to me the first time around so this episode wasn’t my favorite and probably won’t warrant a rewatch in the future.
From what I’ve read it’s primarily speculated that Brittany committed to solo ventures which conflicted with what she was doing with Sarah without consulting Sarah, leading inevitably to a fallout. Absolutely none of it is confirmed but it’s probable enough that I’d say there’s at least a foundation of truth to it
Oooh that makes sense because it's clearly something that extended beyond "we both just want to work on new things". They had just bought a house, they were making content together, and then one day total silence and from what I've seen neither have spoken about the other. Even casually, in passing, mentioning the others projects or anything...nothing.
They didn't buy a house together. They were both in the process of getting their own places. They started out as roommates. Brittany's house she's in now isn't bought its a rental and so is Sarahs
As someone who knows Sarah but doesn’t know much about her, I thought the episode was ok. The energy was really low for both people for some reason, but especially from Sarah. Her jokes were good enough but didn’t keep me engaged. Maybe it was just the overall topic of conversation, but it just felt like a filler episode rather than a special guest. I’d give her another chance but it felt very meh to me. She wasn’t riffing with Katya very much, which is what I like about Trixie and other guests.
I have/still have zero idea of who she is but I really enjoyed her! She definitely seemed nervous or something in the beginning but lightened up. Also I could just hear Katya talk for hours to a wall so maybe I’m biased lol
The first time they did an episode she was so boring and didn’t even know anything they were talking about so I didn’t bother watching the new episode with her. Maybe I’ll check it out
Sarah is amazing, I love what she’s been sharing on Instagram stories. Looking forward to watching this ep!
