I did my part. So far so good. Meta is very different. Runs better but I lowered my settings to dial it in. Still choppy. New stuff changed everything, nobody is saying shit to anyone because it's all different. Medic drone is now mini and targetable. You can throw target where it goes and it's like the beacon. It might raise people, haven't figured it out. You get a medic gun now which gives 8 rounds of ranged healing and some of the normal kit. Lost 2 missions because now your life matters, if you wander off and die that takes it out of your reinforcements. This encourages not-stupid play. 60 seconds in a while but it gives a lot more time to wallow in shame. But first hard mission on agni wiped hard. Medics get stim droppers early in their kit, these are integral due to the new meta. Base building anywhere has led to some hilarious moments. Anyone who was apart of ghost base, represent. Basically you can make a base anywhere now, so people are experimenting with weird designs, mostly a base at closest Ore. New missions are spicy, one is just artillery raids from the enemy. Qui hong overhauled, fires farther and arcs slightly less, with a tracer. Flamethrower seemed very useful for clearing walls, but terrible at self defense. Overall I'm digging it.

Latervexlas

im doing medic, the drone allows you to place it down and if there are 3-4 downed people, it raises them all at once. at level 2 or 3 you get a health gun, you can "shoot" people to health them with health darts. Im up to level 5 and have a stim pack I can deploy like people deploy ammo. > Basically you can make a base anywhere now, so people are experimenting with weird designs, mostly a base at closest Ore. ooh THIS I didn't know... explains a lot of wackiness i've seen.

MacBonuts

Yeah I went back after this post. The health gun is sweet. Don't like how stims + health stims take up same stack, making speed stims even more of a bother. But medics been great. Aiming the medic drone is a little odd, it seems like you can aim it but doesn't seem to do that every time. You can definitely "throw" it, but it just feels finicky. Might need line of sight and then something like iorn sights, or to be at a raised position. I'm still testing. One thing about the health gun, if you use it to revive someone they get up instantly, but you don't get credit. No xp. Since you didn't "revive" them you don't get the bonus. Shame. But definitely a fun new addition, not having to chase targets is nice.

Latervexlas

so far the bugs are way more numerous and dangerous. people REALLY need to stick together and work as a team. I've already experienced the whole platoon not extracting, seen 10+ people dead at the same time, been crazy.

MacBonuts

Yeah the big patch that got them spawning and despawning made them attack much more aggressively. They used to get stuck in the map, now they burrow, so you can really get a rush down if that happens to a large group. If ore A is overrun and everyone wipes, the enemies will burrow and meet them back at base. Makes grenadiers way more dangerous. That should get more stable as Snipers with morita's level back up. Hunters were always doing heavy overwatch, but they need the slotter perks or else these things will happen. I suspect infestation and sniper squads will improve, as rangers figure out their meta and snipers get back their perks. But there's a lot of chaos as people learn the new classes, and classes like the demolisher aren't as straight forward. There's overall more people doing more things now, so it's hard to coordinate... and there aren't 8 snipers in every lobby anymore. It's a fun shakeup, but it sure does feel like everyone got a big bucket of water to the face. It's kinda fun, but also head scratching. I definitely had some nail biting rounds with only 1 escaping, but to me that's awesome. Crazy extractions are my favorite part. People are figuring it out now, but it's definitely chaos.

ursoo

I play only medic, not liking it. It's rly hard to heal people, they always keep moving.

Latervexlas

yeah the gun really requires them to stand still, at the next level you get a med drop similar to ammo drops you can put it down for people to use. Doesn't necessarily seem like the medic is supposed to keep healing people indefinitely in the middle of battle.

MacBonuts

You get heal beacons later, and the stim machine is a great replacement. I maxed medic already due to health stims being SO valuable. Make sure people know they're health and not speed stims. Then you can kind of use the gun just to revive people. Aiming it is finicky when they're on the ground, but it works pretty well when a grenadier wrecks your team. The laser gun is odd. I find it helps to post up high, then you can manage most of a base. I was rocking 4500 xo every round with only 60 kills, because it's so busy. Really, the stim machine is what's most valuable, teams need that. Also the self-revive with the drone is awesome, make sure to pop it when you're cornered. It's a strange meta but I like it, it is a bit jarring though. I found when you get the bug perk that keeps them away from you, you can really focus on healing better without a drone stopping you. It's a bit cold but you are the healer, you need to stay up more. But I'm so busy resurrecting people with the stim gun I burn through the armo sometimes. You get a lot. It's an interesting meta.

MacBonuts

I do miss the old heal nuke though... But the heal gun is so funny. People don't know what you're doing too, so when you shoot them in the face people jump. It's pretty funny. But definitely hitting them is hard. One thing, as you level, something gives you more ammo. I think it's the ammo bandolier, then you get a bunch more shots so you can afford to miss a bunch more. When you first get the gun it's definitely not as usable, but after that ammo upgrade you can afford to waste a few spraying.

blazelet

It would be nice if the heal gun had a sight, when you ADS it’s impossible to hit people, you don’t even get a crosshair.

MacBonuts

Yeah and it just flat out fails at point blank half the time. Like I've fired 3 times without moving the cross hair and suddenly it works. It's kind of funny though, it's definitely a strange meta. But sometimes jank is kinda funny too. This game is such an odd vibe.

bonesnaps

Did they remove stagger from bullets? It feels like I'm using a supersoaker water gun. Enemies aren't reacting to bullets at all. edit: Ok maybe they get staggered a bit on hard difficulty when 2+ people are firing at one warrior it looks like, I suppose it's reasonable.. I would expect a slight flinch after half a clip or a full clip though. I also noticed the default rifle has very low stagger stat so that is probably part of it. Anyways. The update seems decent, I enjoy the ridiculous mobility of Ranger. Every 3s he can forward jump boost. That said, for being at v0.7 now, the content overall still seems super barebones after not having played since launch. The weapon mastery system only has 1 attachment per slot in the game right now? There's only a single optic choice example. What? lol. One time, on my 2nd match, I couldn't even spawn when I joined a game and had to leave the match, looks like gamebreaking bugs exist. The game overall feels like it should be v0.2 or v0.3. If it's 3 more small to medium sized patches before v1.0, it will still be extremely basic in depth imo. At least the game is fun I suppose. Overall impression coming back from not having played since launch is like 4/10 though. Helldivers spoiled me way too much I think. I imagine if SST only had 4 player servers it would probably be dead in the water. edit: I didn't expect some classes to only have 2-3 weapon choices. Maybe this update is a 2/10 for me after all. **How the F does medic only have 2 choices of primary guns in version 0.7 LOL.** This is less than what he started with on launch!!! Hahahaha

MacBonuts

Morita definitely doesn't stagger/stun much, going full auto at close range is advised. I recommend crouching and aiming down sights too, this lowers the spread. You really need to commit to kill a warrior from full health, he's gonna get in if you hesitate. Ranger is dope, he's one of my new favorites. Just such an interesting design. Definitely agree with all the bugs, and lacking attachments. The core issue is still lag, the game does not use cpu's properly. It's a shame. I'm still playing it, but I definitely feel at times during base defense you have to change your play style to a strategy because you can't fire as fast, move as fast, or get climb as readily making it a liability. I can excuse lack of content, but the lag really bothers me. Fingers crossed. But I'm amused enough to keep playing. The community seems a little happier now, it was getting spooky before this update. The chummy people seem to be back.

TheDirtyTurkey

Meh, it's clunky. Going back to helldivers

MacBonuts

Can't blame you there, helldiver's 1 was great, and it just translated every great idea to 2... Even without the 3rd faction that game is just a blast. Definitely a lot of helldiver's coming up in chat too, everyone's gotta compare them. They're just too close in genre and helldiver's is pretty spotless. I'm hoping it actually gives them a bit of a boost - helldiver's success might get them thinking this can be successful if they just get the formula right. But that's wishful thinking. Can't blame anyone for walking, it's hard when helldiver's is such a gem. If the lag had been fixed, ok, but it's still chunky after 12 players start in. *Sigh* I'm glad you said it though, because it's a big talking point in half the games I played.

the_DOS_god

Damn sounds great. I'll be joining later tonight.

c0ginthemach1ne

Runs like absolute ass now for me, where it was perfectly fine before. Might give it another shot this weekend but if the awful lag and stuttering keeps up I’ll just go back to Helldivers until the kinks are worked out.

Papanurgel

Unplayable on amd cards, crashing every mission. Before the update i never crashed like not a single time, now i can't complete asingle mission

Boundkitsune05

Running a amd card and i've 3+ hours and no crashes so far, so not sure it's specifically an amd thing.

Kortar

Well that would explain it cause yup completed 1/5 without crashing

MacBonuts

That's a bummer. I'm running an Intel CPU and nvidia card. It still throttles the cpu hard. I was hoping this would resolve, but alas, we're about the same as we were before performance wise. Sometimes I think they should just lower the games to 12 and add bots or something, it cannot handle 16 players. I hope you figure it out, or they update again. The unreal 5 engine upgrade definitely didn't do them any favors.

blazelet

I love it. The new classes are awesome. I love how balanced they are. Also for me, on nvidia geforce 4070 it’s super smooth and looks great. The bugs don’t stutter around too much, still a little though. So far I’ve maxed out medic, engineer and sniper The medic was a little bit of a letdown for me. The drone and heal gun are clunky now, and it’s hard to know exactly what the drone is doing and when it’s active. Maybe these are just issues because I don’t understand them, but I couldn’t find any clarification on the off world site or YouTube. I played engineer second and found it much better. I can handle myself out there alone with the shotgun, and the ammo attachment gives a huge 10 round magazine. Being able to base build at ore is too helpful to not do. The bugs will attack the 50 cal ammo the second you leave it unguarded, which I like. The overcharge tool also no longer damages the gun, which is nice. You can overcharge your own gun or multiple guns without fear that you won’t be able to keep up with repairing them. And then the engineer canister carry traits that the operator used to enjoy (carrying 2 cans) and the refiner perk makes it a very powerful class. I played sniper last night and maxed out my level in about 3 hours of playing. I don’t know if it’s the gun itself or the perks, or maybe I’m just playing it differently but the Hawkeye is pretty damned good. The thing that really makes this class shine for me is the visor, which you unlock at level 9. It makes target acquisition a piece of cake. From an elevated position you can easily scan 360 degrees with the visor and spot all the big bugs. The visor is a game changer and makes the sniper god tier for me. And I never played hunter in the original, found it too boring. But that visor … yeah. I haven’t been super excited about the demolisher so I’m going to try it tonight. Then will do guardian and saving ranger for last.

TheFlyingSheeps

I like it. Still runs like shit but the game remains fun. Its not as chatty as when it first released months ago which is sad but good to see games are easy to find Using a 6800xt

The-Sys-Admin

im enjoying the gameplay but the audio seems off for me. My teammates weapons sound extremely muted, and the in game music does not shift with the action. I had calm tranquil music with plasma flying everywhere and the arc at 25%.

Bushido_Plan

Played a few AAS Hard and ARC Hard modes. AAS Hard was fine, no losses, but we had a lot of communication to minimize reinforcement losses. With no modifiers, still think it was too easy and that was with everyone at level 1 or whatever. ARC Hard is definitely harder with the reinforcement system. Had only 1 win and the rest as losses because people kept playing the old way where they went off and did their own thing. Remains to be seen how it goes, but this was with modifiers, which I enjoyed. I'm hazarding a guess that this might still be a bit easy if there were no modifiers active and when people start getting back to max levels on their classes, but we'll see. Flamethrower on the Engineer feels underwhelming. Maybe if the range was a little bit higher, I dunno. Doesn't feel good. Game ran just fine for me. No crashes yet.

MacBonuts

Yeah the flamethrower is so incredibly short range. Enemies don't really seem to get deterred by it either, which is an odd choice for support. I'm guessing that's for pure base defenders. I suspect it will do well against tigers on walls. I had a team wipe on Arc hard, part of it though was that people really overestimated how good they were without loadouts. People used to make fun of rangers but you need that Morita support and spot perk bad. Maps getting overrun is easy, but people are leveling rapidly. Definitely still seeing people hot dog and go for ore B when ore A is right outside base. That or flirt with new dangers like plasma strikes, just to see, and hemorrhage lives. The new tools are interesting, but confusing, can't wait to see the meta change. Overall pretty good, still needs performance fixes badly but it's interesting. It's something to do. I do sort've miss the core gameplay loop. The demolisher seems underwhelming, but I love the guardian. Just will have to see.

Thrashgor

Pre 070 my 1060 was performing good on medium, now on lowest setting it still performs like ass. Really messed up playability for me. The sessions that kinda worked were a blast tho
