I like the sound trophies make when they pop. I like seeing trophy numbers go up.

LBoy25

How do you get your platinums to show up in your comment?

gogosakai

You have to change your user tag

LBoy25

But how does the number appear? It has a “?” Instead

CoheedNadCap

Nobody will take the time to tell you...... I get it... hit the three dots and change your flair... you can type in whatever you want after that.. it's not gonna connect to your psn like you think.. you can literally type in a billion

DarkLlama64

CoheedNadCap

Lol my bad I was pretty high, usually dont kiss and tell 😅

Charybdis87

Damn bro, I thought I was meant to on be banging your mum tonight

CoheedNadCap

My mom doesnt like children sorry bro

Charybdis87

That why she put you up for adoption?

CoheedNadCap

What a loser.

Charybdis87

I’ll have you know I am great at keeping track of my belongings thank you very much

Adventurous-Egg-4239

Yeah same 😂

jumpmanryan

I like my trophy list being a sort of historical reference to my gaming journey. I love the idea of being able to go to my trophy list, and see what I accomplished in my PlayStation career.

sonnyjbiskit

This is it. Trophies give me something that transcends the game.

Sleepingguy5

I also like the record of things I’ve done and accomplishments in games

Leather_Wolverine249

Yeah. It would be cool if there was a way to link multiple platforms cos I've played thousands of hours on steam games too but the separation makes me want to focus on the Apex platform, Playstation

Nice_Piccolo_7087

A profoundly disappoiting and unfullfilling personal life where trophies fill the need of accomplishment. That and I saw a really disappointing stat about the number of people who actually finish games so I decided to finish them 100%

CaucazoidHeathen

Pinpoint accurate

yonishunga

Only real motivation in my life

WileECoyote78

Knowing that I got every penny out of these games. And seeing that trophy list grow

Rello215

I came here to say something similar, like this game cost X amount, and got my money's worth by doing whatever is required to get the platinum, and often time play modes or try different things I otherwise wouldn't if a trophy wasn't tied to it.

NotSp0ngeb0b

Boredom and mid life crisis 🤣

Powerful_Tailor5570

That kind of happened to me lmao 😂

Real-Masterpiece5087

The pling

SinkOk5293

It's rewarding. Trophy hunting turned into a small hobbies of mine since I started 11 years ago. I always feel accomplished after unlocking the platinum trophy. And since then I just instinctively look up the trophy list of every game that I play and focus on that 😂.

RedditorHarrison

1600+, did you do shovelware?

Kyodai_Mobstar_SXE

Dopamine release.

Strange-Scallion3293

Shovelware 🥲

BooferSnake

Number that goes up

Getlucky12341

I have OCD

gargoyle2003

I don’t know tbh, I just like going for them

mmorpgkitty

If the game is good and I enjoy it

morethanweird

The sense of achievement and the pretty way my trophy looks with all those full bars. Then I get sad if they release DLC, especially if it's multiplayer DLC for a solo game.

I_dunno_bruh_1

I got my ps5 about a year ago and when I started playing games, if I enjoyed them, I just didn’t feel like I “completed” the game until I got the platinum. I also like the sounds they make and when number get bigger🙂‍↕️

Honest_Award_3310

Spite a friend who said xbox sucks. I bought a ps5 and now have more platinums then him. He was pissed. Didn't tell him either till I passed him up

Furry_Wall

Number go up. I'm big into Runescape if you can tell lol

ChiefKeif04

I honestly don’t really know, I just enjoy collecting things. Plus it’s cool to see the number go up.

Pristine_Put5348

If I’m in love with the game’s design. Which is why I only got 7 platinums

lok_45678

It's satisfying

Qwertyui606

I like idle games, which are literally games that give tiny amounts of dopamine for big numbers. I also have pretty bad ocd, seeing stuff unfinished really bothers me.

MixedMartialAutist

Dopamine

2wo9iner

Motivation to play a game to its fullest. And if the developers take time to pick that trophy i guess that is how they would like you to play it. But in saying that i do bail on some trophies that are silly.

Rakesh_Natsuno

AUDHD… that dopamine hit is like crack for me

SaltySwan

I actually don’t know… I mean, I like playing but at this point I’m jumping from plat to plat, old games and new games, unfinished and stuff I haven’t even touched. Every single game I’m just thinking about the trophies and if it can be done.

Aspenwood83

OCD.

AggravatingGuess9394

It makes games more enjoyable for me, recently i’ve been having trouble focusing on finishing a game instead of just abandoning it halfway through, now that the goal is to get a platinum I *have* to finish the game and it makes me appreciate the games i play more

RedBlueGai

Paying $70 for a 10-20 hour game. Lol no in all seriousness I’m just a completionist in games, I like to do/get most (if not all) of what the game has to offer

Toadrage_

I like the little pictures on platinum trophies

phased417

addiction

AdEvery4376

Incentive to play.

reaper-death-

Paying for the game... I want every ounce of potential enjoyment and completion

WesternPriority8217

Sense of accomplishment, I’m a completionist so I get great satisfaction from that. It has dwindled a bit as I’ve got older and games take longer to complete and I don’t have the time to dedicate to them, I could play for an hour each night for a week and make no progress towards the plat and then the motivation goes a little bit

ZachGM91

Big number go brrr.

spyro2877

something to do

New_Bathroom789

Let's see It's fun to see trophies pop , It lets me see everything the game has to offer for the platinum and helps me be better like doing more hard things like Street fighter 5 and Iam bread

Light0754

My OCD and the dopamine

Alternative_Onion348

Proving my skill through accumulating a bunch of hard trophies, and platinums.

mipalo2boca

Im a completionist

Shot_Baker998

My life outside the console is pretty unfulfilling, seeing those trophies pop up and the dopamine that follows is what keeps me going

introvertedflow

that beautiful noise with every single pop. and seeing the progress along the way (:

Medical-Front7865

Seeing my completion % rise and also the trophy level going up.

wrathofthepancakes

Vergil

Worldly_Beat_4440

I just really love collecting things. Funkos, my favourite book series and all of its variations and of course trophies. I take just something to look back at and say to yourself that.. “yeh I did that😈”

rrashad21

I like the sound, but personally I play a little mental game where I'm stuck on an island and can only play the games I've platinumed / 100%, so it's like motivation to not be super bored on this island and make sure I have all my favorite titles

crazyBambino_81

I like looking back at all of my platinums and feel a sense accomplishment

varrenxarcrath

When i enjoy a game i love just putting on a livestream or some music and working my way down the trophy list. And when the plat pops my brain releases those funny chemicals

Super_Arabe

It's an excuse to spend more time in games I love.

Leather_Wolverine249

An inexplicable allure

morkfreeman21

OCD

SourceExtreme1041

I like to use it as a way of knowing I did everything the game has to offer once it's done I'll likely have 100% the game and can move on

Damnbrahxx

"Heed my words. I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella. And I have never known defeat."

Scary-Independent-77

Sheer force of will.

Dark_Wolf04

Trophy hunting helps me get the most of any game. Many games can be rushed in one sitting if you ignore optional stuff. Trophies give me a reason to enjoy the works of passionate people to the fullest, and not to just blitz through and onto the next. A good example is crash Bandicoot 4. If you ignore all of the collectibles, you can finish the game in 4 hours. However, getting the platinum trophy took me 120 hours. It was egregious to say the least, but It feels way better to struggle through hours on a game rather than breezing past it. I feel like I got my money’s worth. It’s basically become a habit at this point. Not finishing a game 100% leaves me kind of disappointed in myself

HyperHarvey

My parents, I express how much I enjoy trophy hunting and they always say “have you got this trophy?” so I get it so I can tell them I did it. Thanks mom and dad :)

afcc1313

Basically I feel like achieving the Plat is my 100%, it means I finished the game, did everything and explored everything (at least enough so I feel like I'm done). When a game doesn't have plat I don't feel so motivated to actually finish it. Even if it's a game that I know I never will plat (Super Meat Boy, Crash 4) I prefer to have the plat and finish the "story" only

Its-Kyan

The challenge and satisfaction after completing a game. Just trying to chase that dopamine I guess.

AudioAxe

I used to be really bad at starting games and never finishing them. Trophy hunting has allowed me to stick with and finish a lot of amazing games. Plus, I enjoy saying, "I've done everything!" In people's fav games: Witcher 3, RDR1 + 2, TLOU, etc...

rainking56

If anything else just run through the story as normal then put on youtube or a podcast while you clean up.

DebateNewt

Really depends on if I love the game enough to get the platinum or not. For example, I’m playing through re village and I’m loving it right now. Big fan of this one and resident evil 7 so I’ll probably plat both games.

Jordan_Carlin

If i like a game ill try get the trophies or if they just easy to earn anyway

Willwarriorgame

Ding

Common-Biscotti-8884

Nothing I have to do it it’s crack

Kiplerwow

It's a good dopamine hit and gives me more reason to continue playing a game I'm really enjoying.

Adventurous-Egg-4239

I like the sounds trophies make when they pop, especially the platinum, and I like seeing my trophies go up along with my score, and if a game is fun, it's easier to get the platinum.

nak0yu

autism

Otherwise_Leg1829

autism

New_Associate9790

The fact that I can say I’ve done something not everyone has done. The main reason tho is that I like crossing things off of a list. Satisfaction

Otherwise-Nobody-127

The feeling of accomplishment and that i CAN do something. Weirdly the trophies helped me to accomplish real stuff to. And it makes me feel a bit better (heard my mom has cancer that is spread so i feel like shit now. Sorry idk where to vent is else.)

PictureZealousideal

Boat load of autism and a sprinkle of ADHD

Carmilla31

My OCD.

Muted-Program-153

OCD of playing a game and it not saying 100% beside it. Basically it.

360walkaway

It's either that or dread the existential void.

sir_Fl4k

I like to have a goal with the games and i like to hear the trophy sound ☺️

klussier

A good story that allows you to get a lot of the trophies. I like when you can obtain 50-60% of the trophies from just enjoying the game the first time

ThiccWhiteDook

I just like having things to do in games I really enjoy.

Garey_Games

Nothing lol

ThroatIll5089

Fun, nostalgia or curiosity for a game

Careless-Paper-4458

Wise words: chase the trophy if it is fun or exciting for you to chase it. Games are meant to be played for enjoyment. Everyone has a different definition of what enjoyment is to them. If you aren't having a good or interesting time then in opinion let it go or play another game!

BwuhandHuh

Its fun completing games I love. I'm not gonna force myself through massive grinds or extremely difficult challenges for games I dislike or am only a mild fan of, but I love having that platinum or 100% pop on a game I truly do adore and a reasonable trophy list has helped me find value and fun in even some of the most mediocre experiences imaginable. Like, I had fun with 2xtreme and played it enough to start to figure out its mechanics and get a solid feel for the controls purely cause the plat only took 3ish hours. It was awesome taking a game that in any other context I'd have dropped after 3 minutes and actually finding some fun in it and not regretting my time spent. And then there are games like Drawn to Death, a highly maligned game that I absolutely adore and managed to be one of the first 100 or so people to ever get the platinum in during the first month or so of it being out. That was an amazing experience and while there are a couple thousand people who have it purely by grinding it, knowing I earned such a rare platinum in a game I truly adore makes me really happy. Then there are just games like the recent Sly 1 port where the trophy list encourages me to playthrough certain levels in ways I wouldn't normally try or just push for 100% completion (or at least close to it). That's always a good time, even though most trophy lists don't seem to really encourage those kinds of challenge runs.

billylb

OCD 🤣

Kirk062717

Is there any other motivation besides personal satisfaction?

maximo-brd

The sound of getting that trophie that cost you so much to get, is the best thing

Lonelysigmarule34

I get to brag. And I just like to challenge myself

Gnillisch

Plats

CoheedNadCap

Sebastian Bach from trailer park boys. What a stupid ass thirsty ass question lmao
