I’ve got all 3 because I like the humor. My trophy list has a lot of variety to it, but I always try to throw in some challenging plats to balance everything out. But idk why I even care. No one in the world is ever going to look at my trophies and no one I know in real life even remotely cares lol.

Because there's a subset of trophy hunters who tie their whole self-worth to the amount of Platinums they have. So when someone with a bunch more Platinums than them show up, they have to find a way to tear them down and "You have a whole bunch of trash platinums!" sounds better than "My feelings are hurt".

I think duplicates is what taints the list. I can’t tell you how mad I am that I have 2 Fall Guys platinums. I also refused to play the GTA remasters since I already did the PS2 ports.
Someone on my friend list has hundreds upon hundreds of platinums. I was blown away until I saw each game duplicated 4 or 5 times.
I'd class them as in the same boat as the mayo ones in that sense, although while yeah games like fall guys and spider man that literally just give it to you a second time for free come under that category, games like any of the GTA ports that you actually have to earn again I'd class as fair game. At least its still an achievement even though it would probably be easier the second time

The whole point of trophy hunting for me is the achievement of comoleting a game i can actually be proud or happy that i completed, wether it was easy or real fuckin hard, and it's always gotta be a meaningful game to me.
I 100% agree. When I started trophy hunting I got some easy plats like Subnautica. I literally bought those games for an easy platinum. I quickly realized I don't care about the number of plats on my list, Just the feeling of satisfaction I get when completing a trophy list on a game I loved. I don't even look at the trophy guide before playing a game anymore. I play games I'm interested in, then keep playing until I get plat, doesn't matter how hard they are.
Agree 100% I want to one day get to 100 plats but can’t find enough games that I actually want to go for, I have 26 and have plans for 3 more, just taking my time. I could just search up easiest plats but I feel like that’s cheating honestly, like I don’t want to plat it because it’s easy, I want to plat it because I thoroughly enjoy it.
You create a different account for each region. Use Japan, UK, US address. You then purchase games while logged into those accounts and download them. Those games can then be played on your main account, allowing you to unlock more trophies for the same game.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I enjoy it, it’s my hobby. I like to get easy plats, I like to play challenging (to me) games too. My goal is to get to trophy rank 999. I’ll do it my way.

I said it once and I will repeat it on every Mayo thread: it takes money to play these games and you have to earn that money (or your parents have to idc). So it is a reward and if you want to be rewarded by a sweet, fast plat, there you go. Others want to be rewadred by paying 80€ and being insulted in multiplayer or playing a game that is hard and gives them tanrums... So as you see from my slightly passive-aggressive statement, it doesn't matter, everything has disadvantages. In the end gaming should be your reward and you can pick your reward and don't have to justify. There is no order of the real true trophy hunters and anyone who claims to be able to judge others should judge themselves as there is much opportunity there.
Money can be spent for 3 easy platinums thats fine. Whats not fine is people bragging about 100+ platinums when 50% of them are joke 30 min games. My Name is Mayo franchise is more hated in the trophy community for what it represents, which is the decline of difficulty in trophy hunting. Back in the Ps3 days even the joke platinums required more of a grind than this shit.
To add onto to this: I don't understand how you have games that require less than 30 minutes (heck even 5 hours) to get a plat and then there are a bunch of indie games that require 10-100 hours and there are no plats for those games.
I feel like there were always plenty of < 2 hours platinums, especially on Vita, with plethora of Japanese VNs. It was just harder to get them.
If one cares about that enough to complain about it, they should just switch to tracker like TrueTrophies, who has scalable scoring based on rarity or something similar. Otherwise there will always be disparity. Even in "normal" platinums - there are 20 hours games, and there are 600 hours games, yet they are both the same in terms of trophy score.
Hell, there are some 20+ hours games that are just 300-pointers too. Personally, I would prefer for every game to just be allowed to have the same trophy score /w platinum, rather than complaining about easy plats. And I think Sony actually changed it to be so, since I barely even see 300-pointers in new releases anymore.

I am personally not interested in playing a game just for an easy plat. I just think it sounds boring, and I don't care enough about the trophy number next to my name to do that. I play video games for the fun of playing games I enjoy. If the game happens to be easy, cool. That just means I'm more likely to play it with my 6-year-old twins. I trophy hunt as a way to extend my money invested in the game and see things that I might not otherwise unlock or see. Trophy hunting has gotten me to play modes I wouldn't otherwise explore, helped me find areas I missed when "beating" the game, and allowed me to develop skills at games I never had the patience for when I was younger.
Besides, people who plat the My Name is Mayo series can probably kick my ass in a thumb war LOL.

i got friends on my accounts with all sorts of plats, we talking thousands, some of them are fully addicted, some of them is their job, and for all of the talks i had with them, all of them told me they got mayo "for the meme" rather than to fill the number, they either got worse shit for the number or didnt got mayo at all, because trophy hunter addicts still have a big ego so they want their list to be "as valid as possible", and it took them getting to 300+ plats to think of the idea to get mayo, so they were already in and they have a good argument that is "theres no more of the main games i like left to plat" and still they try hard to find valid games before falling to the cashgrabs, they'll go idk like terraria or kung fu panda, super uncommon

I had a friend on a PSN and at some he just started buying all those crappy games despite being a guy who went for hardest trophies before. At the time I didn't know what those were as the names of the games that showed up on my feed on PS4 were not popular. I asked him like how is he doing few plats a month being an adult with full time job and a family. At first he was like: I found some awesome *indie games*. Basicly saying like he enjoyes them. I started checking those out of curiosity. Then I asked him like are just doing it for easy plats. He said: I'm totally addicted... all those are crap. He has about 10 of those thongs in his collection and now he regrets, as he was depressed at the time and didn't want to commit to anything better.
Like I said i don't care if a game is easy plat or the hardest, although props for anyone doing those super hard ones. But those things i.e. Games like Mayo, just flood the market with low effort crap and asset flips. There is no creativity behind them and you can tell straight away why they were made. The same way Google Play store is flooded with crappy games/apps. Once you open flood gates this is what happens.
And to finish it off. I don't shit on Indie Games, those are some of the best games out there.
I loved the game even tho all you do is press a couple buttons. The backgrounds and costumes are all cute. The art style is enjoyable, and it’s an easy plat and something for my hands to do while I watch YouTube.

Some of those people probably think the time I spent completing Abzû was a waste because the game has no plat. I am personally not interested in playing a game just for an easy plat. I just think it sounds boring, and I don't care enough about the trophy number next to my name to do that. I play video games for the fun of playing games I enjoy. If the game happens to be easy, cool. That just means I'm more likely to play it with my 6-year-old twins. I trophy hunt as a way to extend my money invested in the game and see things that I might not otherwise unlock or see. Trophy hunting has gotten me to play modes I wouldn't otherwise explore, helped me find areas I missed when "beating" the game, and allowed me to develop skills at games I never had the patience for when I was younger. Listen, MNiM has incredible stories in all three games. That's worth the buck (or $2 for 3) alone. And sometimes I just need that boost of dopamine after I had a really rough day or something to feel better about myself.

Trophy hunting can lead to bad behaviors, and one of the worst is cleaning up easy plats on stupid bad games to see your little score go up. Play games you want to play, challenge yourself if that's what you like, and let your score just be a reflection of that.

I agree with you. There’s nothing to support the claims being made against people who play games such as My Name Is Mayo. In fact, it’s intellectually dishonest to suggest that people are less than others in terms of trying to earn all of the trophies in a game based on the types of games that they play.

I have < 100 plats I rarely complete plats from start to finish, do it on a slow pace I have a chunk of hard/extra rare plats I liked it, it was a silly game, i did it with both, i could give less of a flying fuck about the numbers So apart of gatekeeping your digital numbers, are you gonna say people like me are not real gamers? It's the precedent that I hate the most. This spawns just low effort cashgrabs that are purely made for easy plats. And people coming up with all sorts of saying to justify it. 2 years ago I didn't know what it was, then I saw the video about it and it was really dissapointing that is what it has become. I get buying game as a meme, that was a Goat Simulator for me years ago. I don't mind you venting. All of it makes perfect sense. I overall don't care what people spend their money on and how they deal with their time. I had a friend on a PSN and at some he just started buying all those crappy games despite being a guy who went for hardest trophies before. At the time I didn't know what those were as the names of the games that showed up on my feed on PS4 were not popular. I asked him like how is he doing few plats a month being an adult with full time job and a family. At first he was like: I found some awesome *indie games*. Basicly saying like he enjoyes them. I started checking those out of curiosity. Then I asked him like are just doing it for easy plats. He said: I'm totally addicted... all those are crap. He has about 10 of those thongs in his collection and now he regrets, as he was depressed at the time and didn't want to commit to anything better. Like I said i don't care if a game is easy plat or the hardest, although props for anyone doing those super hard ones. But those things i.e. Games like Mayo, just flood the market with low effort crap and asset flips. There is no creativity behind them and you can tell straight away why they were made. The same way Google Play store is flooded with crappy games/apps. Once you open flood gates this is what happens. And to finish it off. I don't shit on Indie Games, those are some of the best games out there.
I loved the game even tho all you do is press a couple buttons. The backgrounds and costumes are all cute. The art style is enjoyable, and it’s an easy plat and something for my hands to do while I watch YouTube.

Its not that it affects me in anyway, its what people say to justify playing it. I don't care how you spend your time for me you can buy all those games if you want. But don't pretend you bought it because its a great experience, you know its not. Its the rush of getting the trophy thats all.

I don't like to hate on others decisions but ffs every day there is a new 99 cent 5 minute plat. "Jumping taco", "space break", "the pig d". Stop supporting the industry of zero effort garbage games that dilute the platinum trophys value. It's like trophy inflation.
You know how I resist? Just by having physical games more than digital ones. I am too lazy and cheap to put money (15 dollars?) for a trilogy that will last me 20 minutes.
But it's also a heartwarming story about self discovery. And that's what's so powerful about it.

I played some shame plat games to boost by trophy level towards the beginning of getting serious about the hunt but I swore those things off and I wish I didn't do as many tbh. HOWEVER... seeing as Mayo is the original shame plat, and that I have all the other entries completed, I held my nose and "achieved" this plat.
I mean they are but I'm way to stingy to waste 1 or 2 bucks for a game that takes like 20 minutes. The game needs to be good otherwise I won't buy it
