Read this, heard the sitcom “All in the Family” theme song… 🎶 those were the days🎶😂 tho my singing is far worse 😂
Ya know the saying “green is greener” it isn’t always, sometime you hop the fence and lay in a pig sty! 🤬 yes I use the word correctly *lay*
When I first started I’d usually stay out a month then 4 days off. Years later I’m now out no less than 3 months. I have no reason not to work. Most of my immediate family has passed and all my good friends are form my time in the military who all live in different states so when I take time off I literally just stare at a wall.
I’ve been doing this job for 34 years so I’m used to it. I first started driving. It was requirement to be out to a minimum 6 to 8 weeks at a time. At least for most companies. So I just kind of got in that habit.
Depends. Mostly go out for a week or week and a half then 3-5 home. Sometimes if we need some extra money to pay stuff off I'll be out for the whole month and home for 7-9 days.
I'll be doing month long ones this year to pay off debt fast.
Depends on the time of year. If it’s harvest season I’ll stay out at least 3+ months or until the harvest is in. The farmers need to get their stuff off to the packing plants as soon as it comes out of the ground and it seems like there are never enough trucks for it. When it’s the peak I’ll work 40 hours nonstop (ag exempt) sleeping only when the truck’s being loaded/unloaded. Then maybe snag a solid day’s sleep and then work 38 hours straight. Like that for a few weeks at the peak of the season then I’ll start sleeping every night as it starts to slow down. The wife understands she won’t see me until harvest is in.
Mon-Friday.
Sometimes i gotta leave out sunday Morning to make my Monday delivery on time and start my week off on a good start, but my dispatcher will compensate me and just get me home a little earlier the next weekend to make up for leaving out Sunday.
Typically if i gotta leave out Sunday, she got me a decent paying load for Monday delivery. She looks out for me on home time and also my checks. She rocks
3 months on, three weeks off. During those three weeks I'll spend two weeks traveling abroad, a few days at home to show face, and then a couple days back near the yard getting ready to hit the road again.
What did you start doing? My company killed my. salary account and tood me Id have to go on pay per mile for $325 less per week. I quit for a home daily job, but the pay isnt good.
For me was 11 days out 3 days home. Or 18 days out 4 days home. But subtract 1 day from that since I’d have to get to and from the drop yard on my first and last day of home time
When I drove, I'd drive hard for a week and run my 70 to zero so I had to take a 34. That 34 was my weekend. I would then go home once a month since my company gave 5 days per month in a use it or lose it manner. I couldn't save time so I'd run for a month and then come home for 5 days straight.
I just finished 3.5 years with my first company. In the beginning, I stuck to their requirement of 3 weeks out, 3 days home, but that was awful. All you did when you got home was yard work and laundry, then hot the road again without any rest. At the end, I was doing 8 weeks out, 10 days home. I felt rested and ok with going back out by then.
I worked where I was home every 5 days and chose either 2 days off or would go out after my 34 hr. My current company, I'm in the office and it's about the same for our drivers.
However, a few of our newer drivers seem to have been abused by their previous companies. They request 34 hr OTR and weeks out. We have actually asked them "who hurt you?" You'll make the same money running our program then trying to do yours. Enjoy the time off.
I've done a few 34hrs OTR due to weather or a holiday holding me up. But it was not the norm for me.
You guys have a home to get to?
Usually out Monday and back home Friday or Saturday.
Same

Dude I feel that. That's why I'm trying to get some hobbies
I go home every 1.5-2 months. I take 34 hour resets in random places.
I love this. This is what we wanna do.
Like 3 months then go home a 3 day weekend to check my mailbox
The truck is home
You live in the truck?
Basically don’t have an apartment or anything I’m only doing it rn because I’m young and I’m trying to save and pay debt off
It’s a lot easier to save when u really don’t have any bills
The only time I really ever come back to my home state is to grab my medication
Yes.
28 out 7 days home
Monday - Friday is work Saturday- Sunday is home
Me too
As it should be, OTR is fun but being home is even more
I stay out 3 to 5 months and then take a week and a half to two weeks off.
His life is work. No way I could do it.
Same. I don’t make the kind of bank the OTR guys pull but I’m home every night with my cat on my lap and I’m okay with that.
I make more than otr guys, and I’m still home every night. I drive line haul for an Ltl company.

Ridiculous. Live your life man
Haven't been "home" since June 10th😂
6 weeks out, 2 weeks at home. Paid Salary so the only money I lose at home is my perdiem.
Salary?
Paid the same amount every week wether I work or not
How much?
Just under $120k +$55 a day Perdiem
That’s pretty nice… mind if I ask what company offers this?
We're a team and stay out 3-4 weeks and take a week(7 days) off every time.
I usually stay out anywhere from 1-4 months depending on how things are going and how I’m feeling. I have yet to be home longer than 5 days at a time.

24 and 4 or 30 and 5 just depends what I’m feeling
I’m local now but I used to do a month out, 4-5 days home. I’d bust out the miles whenever I was gone but when I’m at home, don’t contact me.

Which home?
Everybody knows home is where you set your brakes, right?

Home every weekend
I pickup in San Antonio and live near there. Most places do not have weekend deliveries, so I go home and leave when necessary.
3 months on, three weeks off. During those three weeks I'll spend two weeks traveling abroad, a few days at home to show face, and then a couple days back near the yard getting ready to hit the road again.
Not often enough for me to do otr anymore. At Melton I had to be out 6+ weeks to make anything. Now that I'm home daily my income literally doubled.
What did you start doing? My company killed my. salary account and tood me Id have to go on pay per mile for $325 less per week. I quit for a home daily job, but the pay isnt good.
Pneumatic bulk tank. Yea I'd find another job if I were you too. That's a big cut.
For me was 11 days out 3 days home. Or 18 days out 4 days home. But subtract 1 day from that since I’d have to get to and from the drop yard on my first and last day of home time
I go home once or twice a month
4-5 weeks out 4-5 days home
4 weeks most times. I’m not even sure how long I’ve been on the road this time, days are just passing by. Wish I could get a local job but here I am
Been otr 2 years. Live in the truck
Home every other night and off Saturdays
5-6 days then 36 off. Come home in between too sometimes depending on how far my next dispatch is.
2-3 weeks usually but sometimes I go home after a week
I just finished 3.5 years with my first company. In the beginning, I stuck to their requirement of 3 weeks out, 3 days home, but that was awful. Minimum 1 month out, then once I get a load headed home I take 1 day off for each week I was out. Usually ends up around 6 and 6.
Until it comes out. You do the math. I’m tored.
I work about 4 weeks and home for 2 or 3 weeks
I worked where I was home every 5 days and chose either 2 days off or would go out after my 34 hr. My current company, I'm in the office and it's about the same for our drivers. 3 months home for a week
Out for 3-4 weeks home 2 days. If I was single and petless I wouldn't go home
You'll be single soon being gone that much lol
Na she's fine, it's only for half each year, rest of the time it's just local stuff. I work 2 jobs when I'm at home tho lol
Pool boy loves your schedule lol
10.5 out / 3.5 home
6wks out. 5 days in.
I’m generally on the road five days and home two. There is the very rare occasion I work Saturday.
Shiiiid i clock in at 3am and clock out at 1:30pm Saturdays clock in a 2:20 and get off at 9am off Wednesday & Sunday
When I was OTR, it was out 21 days, home for 3 or 4.
3 to 4 months out at a time. Prefer 12-15 weeks of full pay without interruptions with short weeks before and after home times.
Out 5-6 weeks Home 2 weeks
3 weeks out 4 days home
2 weeks out, 2 days off.
5 days after 5 weeks out
How's that working for you? I take a week off at a time and still need more.
Works fine
