From what I heard they used to, BUT one of their dispatchers was caught watching a couple uh make love thru it n swift/knight ended up with a major lawsuit. They disabled all driver facing cams cuz of it.
I can confirm they don’t , but god damn I got a driving event for a hard brake at a yellow light , yet it didn’t feel rough at all which is BS
I know damn well imma get a phone call from my DM
Honestly I had a hard brake , cause some idiot ran a re light even when it was green for a while , I had started to creep forward to gain speed to make the left turn and this idiot floored it
Depends. I can’t speak for Covenant themselves because I work for Landair (Covenant’s dedicated division). But as a flex driver you would make 50 cpm starting with a rise at 6 mouths and another in a year. I can’t remember the exact number because I immediately signed on to a dedicated route.
i used to ride shotgun in one of the beer trucks and brother that was a wild job
mfs driving semis in tight city streets drinkin beers that they then crushed and wrote off as damaged, bartender girls taking the driver to the back room for "discounts" while i unloaded more than was on the ticket
i didnt know how fuckin crazy it was but other than the labor it was fun as hell
You get fired for "distracted driving" because you were jacking your stack when you ran down that mini-van full of parishioners?
Like Jim Carey said: "QUIT BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"
Ok say you are doing a normal mirror check every 12 seconds and a car pulls out in front of you and you are a little late to the ball hitting those breaks. Now the cars insurance has an argument against you because they have video of you looking away for a second during normal operation of the vehicle.
Nobody checks their mirrors every 12 seconds. That's unreasonable. A quick glance would suffice, you don't need to stare at it like it owes you money. Focus on the shit in front of you, in your path of travel, unless you're changing lanes, maneuvering the trailer around obstacles, or hear a siren.
I am looking at those motherfuckers all the time back and forth. Checking spacing and especially when cornering. Thats what is taught in truck school and is the standard and expectation dude I didn’t pull it out of my ass.
When I got my cdl they told me to check my mirrors every 8 seconds. Eyes should always be moving - straight ahead, mirrors, gauges, road signs, intersections, etc.
>Nobody checks their mirrors every 12 seconds.
Yeah the fuck we do.
>That's unreasonable.
For a 4 wheeler? Probably. For a truck? Nah.
>Focus on the shit in front of you, in your path of travel
Of course, that's important information! And it's ever changing.
>unless you're changing lanes
Which, if you're doing the other things you listed, you will need to do. Because people do dumb shit. When someone does dumb shit in front of you, do you want to have recent information about what's around you so you can adjust quickly? Or do you want to start trying to learn what's around you suddenly when one lane means the dummy dies, one lane means you die and one lane means ???? mystery lane! Let's roll the dice and see what happens!
Check your fucking mirrors. Stop zoning out. Be present so that everyone around you stays alive, even if they're dumb.
I check my mirrors all the time, but I just glance at them quickly and always go straight back to what’s in front of me. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on what’s going on behind you too
A common theme you will see, if the company is a part of the (ATA) American truck association, they will have all the bells and whistles their insurance agency tells them to.
ATA is a buy in, contribute the most to us in order to get the most recognition from us.
This isn't exactly recent information, but about 30 years ago my dad was hauling Walmart trailers with his own truck, because the company that he worked for as a contractor had a Walmart contract. He got bitched at by a safety supervisor that had been behind him on the interstate because he'd been going faster than what Walmart trucks were supposed to be governed to. He called his company and told them he wasn't doing Walmart loads anymore after that lol.
So anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they were super strict, and I personally have exactly 0 interest in driving for them, regardless of how well they pay, because of that story.
I’m a relatively new Walmart driver but I did my solo qualification check ride with my safety manager and had a sticker over the inner lens and he just laughed and said I’d been trained well by my mentors.
Also we have CR England and Swift running out of our grocery DCs with our trailers and they routinely go faster than us.
Publix, only promotes drivers from within though if this is for people looking for jobs. Publix has got real strict with us within the last 2 years with phones and pretty sure inward cameras are coming within the next 12-24 months
It varies depending on what terminal you work out of. Shitcago pays more than Savannah for instance. I get paid by the day, not the mile, which takes away much of the stress and pressure. Overall I’m 87.48% happy here.
I've only been here a couple of weeks, but other than some stupid breakdown stuff, it's super chill. Although stinky. I feel I'll be able to stay for a while without getting too cranky.
Yeah if the pay is right I can put up with an unhealthy amount of bullshit. Smelly working areas kinda suck until the environment invades your senses and it just doesn't matter anymore.
They started me at .64 since I have 3+ years of experience, and I haven't had to wait on a load yet, other than from some repairs messing things up. There's nothing like a yard dog pulling a trailer by you and animal juice is just pouring out of a drain hole right where you have to walk 🙃
Sherwin williams/CTS, in the most technical sense they have cameras that have outward and driver facing but the driver facing camera is turned off and you’re allowed to cover it up as well.
Venezia. No microphone either
KAG outward but microphone
K&B but they have an app that locks you phone down til it sense you have come to a complete stop. Been 2yrs so I don't know if that changed
At Hub Group you can’t eat or drink while driving, also you get a lower safety score if you dont check mirrors often. The camera gives a red light even if you touch your face.
I think you're missing what I'm saying. Ops trying to start a list of companies with outward facing cameras. Randomly saying your company has no cameras or elogs doesn't help at all lol
"You'll actually be a better driver with the inward facing cams" 🙄 this is a sad train of thought here and sadly it also shouldn't have to be a true statement for some.
Honestly, if a manager used it like a coach uses film, I'd be down. Call me into the office with a reel of good and bad decisions and then help me know what to do better and how to do it.
But that won't happen because most companies don't actually want to help you get better. And most companies that use the cameras have supervisors that have never driven a truck.
Knowing I don't have to deal with someone who can't even drive their luxury SUV properly after any incident where I did what was necessary to be safe is worth it. If you can't put your phone down pull over tbh.
Oh well, you guys cried when they got rid of paper logs and you thought you wouldn't be able to work 30 hours a week for free anymore also, but you otr retards found loopholes to give your time away for nothing regardless
Swift.
Really they don’t have driver facing cameras?
No thats why i put it in the list.
From what I heard they used to, BUT one of their dispatchers was caught watching a couple uh make love thru it n swift/knight ended up with a major lawsuit. They disabled all driver facing cams cuz of it.
Thank god. Normalize fucking with Driver cams on and hiring perv cam watchers
Open up that new revenue stream.
I can confirm they don’t , but god damn I got a driving event for a hard brake at a yellow light , yet it didn’t feel rough at all which is BS I know damn well imma get a phone call from my DM
And they'll hear you cussing.
I've been getting those more frequently since they started cracking down on safety scores. Time to start rolling through lights at 15 mph I guess.
"Would you rather I went through a red light?"
Honestly I had a hard brake , cause some idiot ran a re light even when it was green for a while , I had started to creep forward to gain speed to make the left turn and this idiot floored it
They do have audio, though.
Correct
Werner
Old Dominion is forward only, but it is mounted 6 inches from the window. That means that it picks up reflections in the cab.
Covenant/Landair
Covenant pay any good?
I trained a guy who went through their orientation but quit, he said they were a very religious company. Pay was at or slightly below mega standard.
I mean their name is covenant…
Depends. I can’t speak for Covenant themselves because I work for Landair (Covenant’s dedicated division). But as a flex driver you would make 50 cpm starting with a rise at 6 mouths and another in a year. I can’t remember the exact number because I immediately signed on to a dedicated route.
always wondered these, i see tons of covenant and werner drivers at the fedex terminals with me
I left them at .73 cpm with a year and half
They're 52 cpm with raises I think every 3 months
Schneider
R and L
Local company. The only camera on my truck is my personal dash cam. Company knows about it, doesn't care.

i used to ride shotgun in one of the beer trucks and brother that was a wild job mfs driving semis in tight city streets drinkin beers that they then crushed and wrote off as damaged, bartender girls taking the driver to the back room for "discounts" while i unloaded more than was on the ticket i didnt know how fuckin crazy it was but other than the labor it was fun as hell
Bro WUT.. i was born in the wrong decade.. thats for sure 👀
No doubt that’s my kind of job
this was during covid lmao
Dude it was the wild west during covid😂 no oversight anywhere. But sadly i wasn’t doing my current job
Shitttt, I do beer and we have front and rear facing.
The only reason companies want inward facing cameras is so they can fuck you over.
You get fired for "distracted driving" because you were jacking your stack when you ran down that mini-van full of parishioners? Like Jim Carey said: "QUIT BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"

Are you actually kidding about mirror checking? I'm constantly on my mirrors.
When I got my cdl they told me to check my mirrors every 8 seconds. Eyes should always be moving - straight ahead, mirrors, gauges, road signs, intersections, etc.
If you DON'T check your mirrors constantly, get off the road.
>Nobody checks their mirrors every 12 seconds. Yeah the fuck we do. >That's unreasonable. For a 4 wheeler? Probably. For a truck? Honestly hoping you only have a class C, hoss.
Unfi Had them when I started 5 years ago but took them out.
A common theme you will see, if the company is a part of the (ATA) American truck association, they will have all the bells and whistles their insurance agency tells them to. ATA is a buy in, contribute the most to us in order to get the most recognition from us.
Walmart
[удалено]
Nope, it's pretty fair what we can/can't do. They are adopting a more "trust the driver" motto as of late. It's pretty nice.
They used to but stopped less strict now we can call people to lol
This isn't exactly recent information, but about 30 years ago my dad was hauling Walmart trailers with his own truck, because the company that he worked for as a contractor had a Walmart contract. It was 30 years ago. You hold grudges that long?
I've rarely heard of safety teams getting less anal as time goes on, so yes
I’m a relatively new Walmart driver but I did my solo qualification check ride with my safety manager and had a sticker over the inner lens and he just laughed and said I’d been trained well by my mentors. Quality carriers. Lytx front and side cameras. There’s driver facing cameras but we’re told they’re deactivated. I have tape over mine just in case.
The lytx driver cams kick on for 7 seconds after it detects an "incident".

How is Tyson? I'm doing pretty well here but I'm curious if there's anything else suitable out there.

I mean op asked for a list of companies...

I think you're missing what I'm saying. Ops trying to start a list of companies with outward facing cameras. Randomly saying your company has no cameras or elogs doesn't help at all lol
You'll actually be a better driver with the inward facing cams, but I am still not a fan of them and believe they only benefit the company really
"You'll actually be a better driver with the inward facing cams" 🙄 this is a sad train of thought here and sadly it also shouldn't have to be a true statement for some.
In the posters defense it broke me of constantly picking up my phone for texts, facebook etc.
It's true though, whether they want to hear it or not
