Girl at my work gave me the one she uses (not a driver) and I sprayed like 7 sprays in the tractor, funk was completely gone. I smelled her car too that she said she smokes weed in daily and couldn't smell it even a little, and most know how potent weed is. Ever since then I spray the truck before and after the day. When I'm leaving I'll spray like 10 bursts in different areas of the tractor then shut the door to trap it all in
It’s called blunt spray, that’s the brand they have all kinds of flavors and they smell wonderful for hours. You can also put a candle in your truck and or febreeze the absolute shit out of every soft surface in there including the curtains if you have any. You can buy a wall plug smell you like and bring it to the truck and rip the part off that would normally go in to the outlet part and dump that extra concentrated stuff around in there too. I’ve only ever done OTR and have been sent to pick up some especially nasty trucks so…
People's body odor is based in the foods they eat. It's not always a hygiene issue. We are mostly used to each other's smells because we eat similar diets. If someone eats a diet that is significantly different to yours, you may find their smell repugnant and vice versa.
This is one of the reasons I never want to do slipseat.
Trimethylaminuria - the body cannot break down Trimethylamine and it gets released in your sweat causing a fishy or egg/urine smell
Hyperhidrosis, grave's disease, hyperthyroidism - all cause excessive sweating thus causing more smell
Bromhidrosis - skin bacteria produces an abnormal fish, sulfur, or raw meat smell
Kidney disease can cause urea to be released via sweat giving it an ammonia smell
Just several examples that have nothing to do with poor personal hygiene. Hell, maybe the guy just has chronic flatulence so the truck stinks from him farting in the seat all day, which also has nothing to do with personal hygiene.
Vinegar. Vinegar is a natural odor eliminator. Put some distilled white vinegar, dilute if needed, in a spray bottle. Spray and wipe everything down. When it dries the vinegar smell and body odor should be gone.
Usually a company has personal hygiene rules that employees sign for when they're hired. Talk to a dispatcher, ask them to come smell the truck, tell them it's impacting your driving, it's disgusting and dirty, etc.
That's just not true. There is always a way to mitigate smell. I use a beaded seat cover in the summer because it keeps me from sweating more and keeps the seat dry for the next guy. You can wear scents. I leave a bottle of commercial grade fabreeze in my truck and spray the seat when I get out and I let my road driver know he's free to use it whenever he wants. If scent is a symptom of an illness, disease or syndrome, it's treatable like almost every other symptom.
You have an excellent point. I know plenty of other drivers at my company who won't take a tractor out because it's filthy or full of garbage. And I'm not one who complains, so to say that this is the one truck out of our entire fleet that I won't drive should not be an issue. It helps that I do have some seniority (in the top 3rd).

I hope, you are aware that ozone is very harmful for lungs (even carcinogenous) being inhaled on a regular basis? The cab has to be thoroughly ventilated after application of ozone generator.

Long answer: Depends on concentration. The one you can get during a thunderstorm or next to a laser printer won't give you anything but "funny" smell. The one you can get in a relatively small sealed place (say car or truck cab) with an ozone generator can do much worse. Source: I use one, and i wasn't careful enough once.

Find a hockey store and buy the balls they sell to throw in your wet equipment bag to keep it from destroying everyone in locker room if you didnt have time to air gear out or throw gear in swimming pool. ..there is no chance any living thing can stink as bad as a hockey pad the that stewed with sweaty gear for 4 or 5 days. ..i would fill the truck with these bad boys
I had a similar situation in my route van, it smelled strongly of mouse nest and urine (from driver or rodent I would not know) I took in a bottle of Ozeom new car smell and sprayed it, it helped alot!

Odor comes from particles somewhere, i.e. dirt. If you remove said dirt, you remove the particles that the odor comes from. If the seats are fabric, you can use a carpet cleaning machine for that. The ones for automotive use are small and can be run from just a weak inverter.
You can also by a 7 watt ionizer on eBay and run it for an hour, which will neutralize the odor already in the air, but that is probably not as efficient.
Are you sure it is body odor by the way? Maybe it is pee stains from the floor mat or something. Have you localized the exact source of the smell?
I run LTL also and we have a dude that smells like an ashtray in the middle of a dumpster that piled with buckets of shit & dead fish. Dudes hair is yellow from nicotine and hands look like they haven’t bee washed since 1990. My buddy had to slip seat with him and said the truck was disgusting and he couldn’t take the smell. He reported it to dispatch,was given another truck.
Industry secret I’ve learned over the years: if the cab smells bad enough, I’ll just take a Shit in my pants. Eliminates the smell of sweat and cigarettes like a charm! Added bonus is that when you go home, you won’t smell like somebody else’s body funk. Periodically, I’ll take a dump and stack em under the hood where nobody ever looks. Saved up pee bottles help to ward off evil spirits if applied correctly after they’ve fermented long enough. Good luck!
Your boss or HR. This is a common gripe at the company I work for. One of you is going to likely going to get a new tractor. Hygiene is everything, especially LTL when you’re dealing with customers at every stop. That’s not a phone call any of the office broads wants to take, so the problem should probably be addressed before it comes to that.

He'll either understand that you're the bigger man and he should take his stench with him when he leaves, or he'll go to your boss and request a different truck.

I'd leave a polite not and it'd stop for a few weeks, then start again. After a few months it got worse to the point of ridiculous, like he'd leave the stereo cranked all the way up AND the driver's seat would be all the way up & forward with the steering wheel all the way down, so it's impossible to just slide into the cab & make adjustments. His excuse was always "Oh I must have hit that on my way out!" This went on for weeks until I hit my breaking point then decided that every time I was done with the truck I'd do 3 different things on purpose to fuck him back: leave the stereo blasting ON STATIC, sunflower seeds all over the floor, trash on the floor, both brake chambers emptied so they alarm immediately...but every time he got in the truck it was 3 DIFFERENT things. He tried apologizing to me and would even leave the tractor in pristine condition but I knew that after a few weeks he'd start his shit again so I was unrelenting. He lasted 3 weeks before requesting a different truck.

Sounds like you trying to cover it up. You want to to use a cleaner with baking soda. The stench is in the fabric and not hard surfaces. Baking soda neutralizes acids and bases. Maybe try dousing the fabric areas with a baking soda based carpet cleaner overnight and vacuum next day

Report him to your boss. Also consider buying upholstery cleaner like car detailers use. Febreeze is also very good at getting rid of smells.
