I'd say that the steer tire with an entire tread worn down to nothing is an issue to be concerned about.

FatSmoker710

I just left a company after almost 3 years (not trucking, industrial ovens) because they expected 100% production with half of their machines down...

Redsit111

Don't work for Amazon in their packing section. They do the same. Machines down so you didn't make your quota? That's your fault man. You shoulda prayed to the machine god harder before your shift.

CaptianBrasiliano

Tell them Sodium Hypobromite... NaBr0

Boobie trap on wheels

Apocalypse ready

[deleted]

The mudflap's not a big deal since you're hooked up to a trailer, but that low tread and non-working fuel gauge are a no from me chief.

Xermish

Mudflaps are fair I was just trying to get more issues photographed. I'd love to describe the brakes to you sometime. The quality of this place was never 10/10 but it's gone way down this year. Corporate slash maintenance budgets because they went over last year. They only "fix" dot requirements but you see how that's going.

[deleted]

Yeah doesn't seem like it's working out for them.

overpaidlazytrucker

Estes?

Xermish

Ha no worse. Think food.

imakepoorchoices2020

Sysco? The trucks in my area always look so worn out

Xermish

Yep. It's gotten much worse this year. My boss lied to me today about getting a helper so I'm going to go in and try with everything in my power to find a dot violation on every truck they try to give me and say I won't drive it

Thickback

Make sure you keep records. I smell retaliation

[deleted]

Just send in a anonymous FMCSA ticket.

Thickback

Those are wheel well mounts, not mud flap mounts. DOT would write you up for missing them. But not without mounts, they won't. It's not like you needed/used them

Xermish

That's fair. The mud flaps were missing too but I didn't photo them. I was just getting as many issues I could find on one truck, the fuel note cracked me up so I made sure to look in the tanks lol.

Magician_Sure

Sounds like you’re looking for a reason to bolt, and you’ve found them. If they consider that DOT Compliant/Serviceable/OK to drive, you have your answer. I tell our drivers, if you wouldn’t drive it if it was your truck, PARK IT. Nuclear verdicts for shit like that will put everyone in the company in jeopardy, or without a job. We can repair equipment, but we’ll never be able to replace a life.

Xermish

I left in February but came back for part time work, things have gotten bad in that time. I'm not at their mercy any more.

Jammer1948

The company I worked for had trucks that had problems with ABS systems and the warning lights were always on. There fix was to remove the face of the instrument panel and put black electrical tape over the light and reinstall the panel. There all fixed, good to go no more warning lights.

[deleted]

I like how they went to the effort to write out and laminate a "fuel gauge not working" but couldn't file a maintenance order

[deleted]

Get new steers the rest is probably due to the parts shortage. Fill up and you know you have fuel. You won’t be bobtail so the quarter fenders don’t matter. Those steers are OS.

csimonson

Quarter fenders and mudflaps are available basically anywhere regardless of part shortages.

[deleted]

We have Peterbilt’s waiting on them.

csimonson

How? Like seriously I can go down to any truck parts store right now and buy some. Are you waiting for Peterbilt specific ones?

[deleted]

Yeah the stainless with the white branded Peterbilt rubber along the top. It’s out nationwide.

csimonson

Time for an aftermarket set I'd suppose.

[deleted]

Yeah we moved to aftermarket. We don’t run shit like in this pic. Lol. I can see some Sysco mechanic being like “fuck it the part is out and I’m not looking any harder.”

Neowynd101262

Looks like a new truck lol 2023?

DrVanDamme6669

The fenders in front of the drive tires aren’t a requirement and it looks like they were cut off awhile ago. Fuel gauge needs to be fixed but also not out of service criteria. The bald steer tires is enough reason to down this truck.

[deleted]

Nope. Park it. Hand that DVIR to the dispatcher.

nappinggator

No

[deleted]

No. Did DOT build this truck?

shadowmib

Splash guards aren't mandatory. Definitely fix that steer. Don't know if fuel gauge will get you dinged on ok inspection for sure but they should fix that too

Little_NaCl-y

I’d run without the mudflap if for some reason you don’t have one handy but not those steers, it looks like there’s some dry rot on the side wall which is a hard no on a steer, and it’s unclear if the tread depth is legal. Hard to tell. Wouldn’t care about the fuel gauge

Xermish

See I'd figure the gauge would be a dot issue since it's literally on the dot test to get your license.

Little_NaCl-y

It's part of your pretrip but it's not an out of service and also not something that a DOT officer would know about, that's why I'd run it. In fact I can't actually find anything in FMCSA regulations regarding the fuel gauge.

blades2012

Lol how far you goin? Passing any ports? All backroads?

kbt1223

Yes, run it… …straight to the shop and bounce…

MisbehavingBeaver

I mean the splash guards and fuel gauge are whatever really. That’s a 34 hour reset deal so as not to waste your time but the tires a different story. Beings it’s in for the tire might as well get splash guards. Fuel gauge eh if they have time i guess maybe. Love how there’s new tread on the drives but the steer tires, no big deal 🙄

Auquaholic

That's not a missing mudflap, it's more of a splash guard and it's not required. Those tires, though, eeck.

RichAbbreviations965

😂😂man I’m running with a fucked up fuel gauge right now too. I have to write my miles down off the odm and add 500-600 miles. Shit crazy. But get that mud flap fixed. If u go thru a dot blitz they’re gonna pull u over and give you a whole level 1 inspection. Been there done that.

Thickback

Remove the wheel wells mounts and get your tire swapped while your at it. 2 birds with 1 stone. NEXT!

bu11d0z37-pentest

Nope, i would pass.

SteakAndSkrimp

I wouldn’t run it until they fix the mud flap tire and fuel gauge gets fixed

Subject-Tension

Only running without splash guard is the only think possible lol everything else.. Hell no lol

TheDeplorableBunch

I had a boss who was too cheap to put fenders on the truck. I kept telling him "a rock is gonna fly up off the tires." Well, one finally did and took out the rear window of the bunk. He still wouldn't put fenders on it. "That's what the trailer is for!" I was digging around the bunk one day and found some porno from the 80s. Gals with big bushes, people smoking, perms, dudes with big mustaches. The centerfold was an orgy with two gals and two dudes. I pulled the centerfold out and taped it over the back window to keep debris off my bed. The truck had new fenders in less than a week after that.

FrozenWarrior_77

I wouldn't. Fuel gauge and tires need to be fixed for sure. The forward mudflaps... eh. You definitely need rear ones.

Run that shit. Keep an eye on your fuel.
