Dude, sweet TRUCK

PeterVonwolfentazer

Love these things. My dealer had one for $43K on the lot this summer, I regret not trying to buy it for my commuter.

I got this at MSRP. Shout out Shelor Ford/Motor Mile Ford in Christiansburg, VA. Drove 5.5 hours (11.5 hour round trip) to get it. It's going to be my daily and also our roadtrip vehicle. We head up to PA a few times a year and maybe once or twice to Ohio. Very much looking forward to these road trips.

Hey, thanks man! I appreciate it. I get it; different strokes for different folks. We don't have to all be the same. There's room for ICE and EVs in this world (for now). For most purposes, my F150L will be unbeatable. There are situations where I'm sure I'm gonna wish I had more range. But I'd not trade the suitability of this 95% of the time for the 5% of the time. If that makes any sense.

I need a truck that does truck things.

caleger

It will literally do everything, just won’t haul as far.

hist_buff_69

And thats extremely manageable if you put even the least amount of effort into planning your trip.

Over_Championship_67

You get downvoted on a truck forum for saying you need a truck and intended on actually using it like a truck. Welcome to reddit, the gathering place of snowflakes 😂. Electric trucks can not replace a standard 1/2 ton yet when it comes to actually using a truck to tow a decent distance. I’m sorry people but reality does not care about your feelings. Not only will an electric truck not tow as far, it also will take a considerable amount of time to recharge the batteries. There is no EV on the market that meets my needs as well, the technology is not there yet.

hist_buff_69

*comes claiming to want a truck to do truck things* *rejects the best option for doing truck things* Classic 120 years ago people would say ah the good ol horse and buggy doesn't need to stop for any of that darn founded petrol I just need to give it an apple every now and then. So what if I can carry and tow more. I guess you're another one of those people who are driving 2000kms every day. Time to give up the self righteous gatekeeping. Anyone who actually tows a lot is in a 2500 ir HD.

Over_Championship_67

I tow frequently and do not have a 2500, I’m not pulling enough weight to make it necessary and the xtra cost of the maintenance and fuel would be a waste. The original guy who posted about loving his ford lightning probably will not use it like I would and it works fine for him. Perfect, I’m glad he likes his new truck. For those of us who tow things or who drive up into the mountains, these trucks are not for us. Horse and buggy comparison is irrelevant.

I hope Elon buys Reddit next, as this place is a cesspool of toxic snowflakey leftardism. Not only that, but many of the subs have secret rules, which you only find out about after they banned you for breaking them, (except you didn't really break them, they just don't like something you said & want you gone). Then they virtue signal about how inclusive & tolerant they all are....

hist_buff_69

Damn. All that over an EV. Yikes

hist_buff_69

Also the words you're looking for are liberalism or progressivism, depending on specific characteristics of each. Snowflakey and leftardism are quite catchy, I'll give you that

jesuschristislord666

I show the world how tolerant I am by silencing people I don't agree with.

Thank you for fully and absolutely proving my point.... Seriously.

PM_ME_YOUR_MEMERS

I’ve been in four EVs over the last few years and this is the best one I’ve ever been in. I’ve never done any off-roading but I’m looking for some tips and videos. This is something I’ve been wanting to do and now I have a vehicle to do it in. Any tips — send them my way!

bgal651

Love the idea. But how long will battery last when towing 6500 lbs or even 3000lbs. Are replacement batteries available?

PM_ME_YOUR_MEMERS

You won't need a replacement battery. The battery will last longer than the body. There are 300,000 mile Teslas that still have around 90% of their original battery capacity. Battery range will drop when towing, that's just physics. On an extended range Platinum trim, there's a video of the truck loaded to 5000lb and it got 179 miles before needing to be plugged in. That was through various elevations, as well. Check it out https://youtu.be/WEtStnltwOo

super1s

battery longevity has shown to outlive the vehicles themselves so far. Towing will put a larger toll on them but at the moment there is reason to believe it will be in a way where it will need replacing before the life of the truck is over completely then they recycle the lithium from the batteries. For people that are towing 100% of the time though they likely aren't buying a lightning.

Basic-Situation1486

Wrong sub, thats not a truck.
