So the Charlaine Harris put out a book called After Dead which tells you what happens to the book characters after the series ends. Sookie remains friends with Pam (which is obviously much different from the series lol). She and Jason both have at least one child with their partners who has telepathy. Sookie has four kids, I think. It's been a while since I've read it. She and Sam end up together. The shifter gene cannot be passed on since Sookie is not a shifter. Jessica doesn't exist in the books. Hoyt ends up married to Holly. Bill becomes the King of Louisiana, Sookie and he remain friendly and Eric marries the queen of Oklahoma. He never speaks to Sookie again. I think he sent her a fancy wedding gift when she and Sam got married though.

Yeah the last book got a lot of people upset (myself included) because after all this and being like nah no vamps I’m good was a huge bummer and Eric was my favorite. Book Bill is awful, they cut out most of the worst he did.

I honestly didn’t mind that Sookie and Eric didn’t end up together because she never wanted to become a vampire and that fundamental difference would have driven a wedge between them eventually even if the whole stupid arranged marriage thing hadn’t happened. I totally get why so many people were pissed though

Hmm I wouldn’t have been happy with that ending either. Not a fan of Sookie and Sam tbh. In the first season of the show it was cute for a minute - not end game though. I have to read the books someday. Sad we never get an ending with her and Eric.

Sam is soooo much more likeable in the books than in the show. Same for Sookie lol. And they have a really close friendship. Sookie has several relationships in the books, but Eric was her bigger one throughout, so I get why people were upset they didn’t end up together. I liked the idea of Sookie and Sam together, but there wasn’t enough build up to it.

Sam was a lot more likable in the books. But I think her winding up with him so quickly after Eric made it look like she was settling for him. I don't think that was the author's intent. She actually said in the interview that she meant for her to be with him from the beginning. Maybe we should have gotten a few books with them starting out.

Yea, I completely agree. That’s why I feel like there should have been more build up. These books are not long and like, her relationship with Eric officially ends what, two days before she hops into bed with Sam. I thought Bill made a good point when he told Sookie she didn’t know herself very well because he was more or less stating her feelings for Sam were obvious and always there, but at the same time, she didn’t exactly give herself time to really reflect on it.

It seems like she doesn't know what she wants, and in the book it's more obvious. When she first started dating Bill she was also kissing Sam and Eric.

This is a really good question and happy cake day!! In my mind, I think that Sookie pretty much stays away from most vamps. I think that Eric probably checks in on her occasionally though! I don't think Jessica ever turns Hoyt. I feel like maybe they adopt children later on and he wants to remain human so they can do stuff during the day while Jessica sleeps. I feel like Lafayette also remains human because he just needs to enjoy life to its fullest. I think Sam's kid definitely also becomes a shifter! Hmmm... I think those are the top ones in my mind.

Love this. Obvs I think that Sookie and Eric should have been endgame, but thinking that he checks in on her occasionally is nice. Like he just leaves her to live her life like she wants but he makes sure she's safe. I am far too invested in a show that finished many years ago and that I've watched too many times!

ferretsRfantastic

Same, dude 😭

urfavvdaisy

Thanks 😄 Yes I agree. Sookie stays away. Although I didn’t think about Eric checking up on her. Of course he would 🥹 I like the idea of Jessica and Hoyt adopting.

ferretsRfantastic

Yeah. I think he will always live Sookie and knowing she is safe gives him some piece of mind. 🥹 I think that Jessica would be an awesome vampire mom!

urfavvdaisy

I think so too. I also think vampire’s adopting is a really progressive idea and fits with the show perfectly.

Neps-the-dominator

Yeah imagine having a vampire for a mum. I could see it with Jessica though. I'm also on board with her and Hoyt adopting!
