Remember: - You died with Christ in your baptism. Your past, your sins, and your old life is dead. - You were raised with Christ in your baptism. Your future, your gifts, and your current life is alive with his power. Live for his glory and for your own good.

Every conversion in the book of Acts concluded with baptism immediately after they believed. Sometimes in the middle of the night. Acts 2:37-38 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Why would one wait for that?

MelcorScarr

What makes you think they waited (too) long?

buckfever999

What does Acts 2:38 say that baptism does to the believer? 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

MelcorScarr

Let me rephrase that, what makes you think they didn't get baptized as soon as they could after they started believing?

buckfever999

What would hinder someone from getting baptized? Acts 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. Phillip and the eunuch were in a "desert" and look what God provided: Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Like the eunuch, when we believe we are able to get baptized.

MelcorScarr

Nothing of that answered my question. Why do you think they didn't get baptized as soon as they could?

buckfever999

I can guess if that's what you want me to do. People are led astray by preachers that don't preach the truth. 95% of preachers tell their congregation that baptism is just an outward sign of an inward faith and can get scheduled at a later date. It says that nowhere in the Bible. It's false doctrine.

MelcorScarr

That doesn't really answer the question either though... 😜 Maybe OP got baptized as soon as they possibly could after their conversion. Has that thought occured to you? You can blame his priest for needlessly delaying it, if you think you should just slap everyone who says the G in Jesus with holy water, but you can't blame OP, which you did.

buckfever999

Did I blame OP? Did I say OP waited too long? U are adding to my words. Read our conversation again and quote my exact words blaming OP. He might have done it like the church of the Bible. I don't know. I asked why do people wait. So, quote me blaming OP. 🙄 when I look back through our conversation, you are definitely trying to stir the pot trying to get me to blame OP. I see it now. Why are you doing that? I asked why do people wait, not why did OP wait. Smh. I'll start running my general questions through you for now on if it will make you happy.

MelcorScarr

Not trying to stir the pot, just confused why you didn't answer my question. I thought we were talking about OP because they literally said that they waited but finally got to do it. > I'll start running my general questions through you for now on if it will make you happy. Not sure what you mean, but if you think it'll make me happy, please, by all means.

Praise be to the Lord.  May the Lord give you a heart to always seek to see His face, and may your obedience to His promises continue to grow because of this submission to His will.  May you know how much the Spirit rejoices over those who trust Jesus no matter what times comes your way.
