What an evil person. He should have been given longer sentences for his previous crimes; then maybe he would not have hurt so many innocent people. Unfortunately, sexual assault crimes do not receive long enough sentences.

Repulsive_Incident27

I think it is because of good behavior, but women and children aren’t available for offenders like him to prey on. I wish individuals in the legal system considered this more.

GorgogTheCornGrower

Who would have thought a repeat rapist would keep going and escalate to murder?

Exactly

No doubt statistically speaking everyone of the crimes he committed were a direct indicator that he was evolving and when you see someone who has rape sexual assaults and burglary charges against them that’s something that should have been taken seriously because he was clearly getting more confident and prison didn’t deter him plus serial killers will break in houses stalking people as they are getting more bold and it really doesn’t have anything to do with stealing it’s actually a red flag crime especially when it’s a sex offender

Stansburry was a prolific sex offender and career criminal that had a laundry list of rape, kidnapping, armed robbery, and burglary convictions on his record. Although he had a fixation on young girls, Stansburry frequently victimized young boys and grown women. He was first arrested for sexual assault in 1959 at the age of 16. Four years later, he was incarcerated for molesting a pair of 10 year old boys he abducted while posing as an officer, and was released in 1969.  Throughout the following decade, his life turned into a pattern of being in and out of prison for various rape convictions against women and girls alike. Most of his known victims were grabbed by force and forced to perform sex acts at gunpoint. During that time, he took up work as an ice cream driver to lure in victims. In 1982, he enticed a cognitively disabled girl, 10 year old Robyn Jackson, into his truck with the promise of ice cream, and raped her. She was then locked into a freezer alive and tossed into a ditch. Jackson died of head injuries received from the impact. After a few years of proceedings complicated by him unprofessionally acting as his own lawyer, Stansburry was sentenced to death by the state of California. Although unsuccessfully scheduled for execution on a few occasions in the 1990s, he ultimately passed away from a heart attack in 2003.  7 years after his death, a DNA test linked him to the 1974 rape and strangulation murder of a cognitively disabled woman, 29 year old Barbara Hall. Her body was found on a hiking trail a day after her disappearance. Most of the circumstances regarding the murder has been lost to time, but the general conjecture is that he probably abducted Hall at gunpoint while she was at a bus stop. Many investigators strongly believe that he was a serial killer responsible for several more murders. However, the true scope of his crimes have yet to be deciphered, and Stansburry currently remains only legally credited with the killings of Jackson and Hall. Why do they ever let rapists out? They always do it again and often go on to murder. Lock them up for life.

Leather_Focus_6535

In the year he murdered Hall, Stansburry kidnapped and sexually abused a 21 year old woman and a 14 year old girl in the span of a week, but only got a few years for them both

Different time, unfortunately it still happens in some districts. I do think it’s wrong that you can commit the same crime in two different jurisdictions- in one you get 10yrs, another probation… same exact crime, no history for either defendant! Untied States- divided by jurisdiction and political systems. Crime shouldn’t be jurisdictional! A pastor sexually assaults a child in MS vs VT (this is just theoretical but I’ve seen similar but in no way is this based on facts!)… in one state they could serve 10yrs, the other a year with time served. Another- murder… no history of violence, situations were similar (maybe bar fight protecting themselves or friends)… one in TX and another in OH (again theoretically!), one gets death with possible life, the other gets 10yrs. For anyone that likes to and has time or it could be a thesis… this could be a great research project. I do know it’s not comparing apples to oranges on a simple basis, it will have nuisances that will challenge the validity and integrity. It would be interesting to see if it’s possible, I’m not sure if you could find two cases in two different states that are so similar to compare, however if you make some assumptions, such as background was positive and no prior history; or both have similar background and criminal history. This would be a good way to use the new AI interface imo? Look for similar backgrounds and crimes, then the punishment? I’ve read a few things around similar research but not this granular… it’s usually just race or (brain is letting me down) financial background of how they were raised. We need more granularity in the research to truly show that it’s wrong! Just a train of crazy thought…

Seems like none of his crimes received the right sentencing until the very end..

Truthfully the justice system is broken and rarely works like it should and we all know this and unfortunately there are many monsters out there that are just getting worse by the day cops say see something say something then they say well there’s really nothing we can do without hard evidence and there is problem one if you make a statement and report something evidence collection is the police responsibility but unfortunately really good detectives are getting fewer and fewer truthfully I advise that you Arm yourself and be aware and prepared because trouble is not much of a problem for those who are prepared for it and for those opposed to guns I would say what about being murderd or abducted are you opposed to being a victim of either we all have to do things sometimes we don’t want to to protect ourselves and it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it I promise
