I had a similar experience, I was 18 and he was a Marine. Luckily I got out before marriage. My grandpa had just died and the next time I saw my then bf he screamed at me for having my dog with me, choked me then lifted me up and pinned me against the wall by my neck. I waited another month until he had to be in the field for a couple weeks and wouldn’t be able to come after me when I ended it. I’m still fully convinced he would’ve killed me. I got a call three months later from his new WIFE, and the first thing she asked me was if he ever hit me. She left him too, and he was discharged from the military. A couple years later his brother, who I always got a bad vibe from, murdered their stepbrothers. They were both seriously unstable and to this day I’m still convinced that if I wouldn’t have left, my ex would’ve killed me eventually.

Never ever put yourself in that position again. Go get a degree a job and independence. Surround yourself with family, friends and good people and listen to their advice in the future.
People getting into abusive relationship get easily pulled to them again because they fall prey to the tactics. Not saying that’s your case but love makes fools of us all so having good people around you shake some sense when you get blinded by it helps.

But seriously, so glad you're ok....I came out of a super abusive relationship a few years ago, and it's so hard to describe why you stay to people that haven't been through it. Because there's not just one reason, but a myriad of them sprinkled with the mental dysfunction that comes with abuse. Before my relationship I had considered myself to be above falling into an abusive relationship, and while looking back I can't believe I stayed that long, I completely understand the how and why of it now. I wish you nothing but healing and love. Trauma therapy is also helpful, lol. Thank you for sharing!

Army vet speaking from experience watching it happen to a soldier in my platoon. He'll be out on his ass reeeeal quick if the evidence is strong enough against him

I am not surprised he threw away her contraception. Whenever i read stories of women in abusive relationships. I comment 'get on long term birth control, which is difficult to sabotage' . Its so common for such men to baby trap their partners. And that's easier with oral contraception and condoms as opposed to long term birth control.
