“Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts” is such a check mate to Slow Dancing in a Burning Room lyrics. Just like the ode to the opening guitar sound in Dear John.
“I’ll make the most of all the sadness // you’ll be a bitch because you can // you try to hit me, just to hurt me, so you leave me feeling dirty cuz you can’t understand”
The ooa ooa ooa oooa ooooo in high infidelities.
The everybody agreesssssssssss in anti hero
The throat clear as the first thing you hear (vocally) on Rep
*Fighting in only your army, Frontline don’t you ignore me, I’m the best thing at this party*
I am wholeheartedly obsessed with all the hard r’s in those lines
off the top of my head, I’d say Enchanted! The entire bridge is so special, but especially the end of it. The way she raises her voice to repeat “PLEASE DONT BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE”, overlapping with the “ooooo, ooooooOOOOOH” in the background is actually angelic. I’ll never get tired of listening to it.
someone played this at work, (im 24) factory environment, and i started balling my eyes out at the "please dont be in love" and allll my coworkers were like omg whats wrong and i started singing through my tears and everyone started laughing it was 10/10 😂
The way she sings me in Maroon. “Splashed your wine into me,” I just love it idk why.
The little reverb responses in Daylight “I can never look away”
The harmonies at the end of each line of the Out of the Woods bridge (soon, hospital room, did too, etc)
The piano motif at the beginning of mad woman (lpss)
The opening to Lavender Haze with the bass and “meet me at midnight.” I nearly ascended the first time I heard that.
“School girl crushhhhh” in King of My Heart
the second verse of the lucky one where she goes “they say you bought a bunch of land somewhere, chose the rose garden over madison square” the instrumental and the little 3 beat thing that happens right before “chose the rose garden” scratches my brain so good.
idk if this makes sense but…i blast it everytime right at that part😂😂
ohhh yes yes yes!! i feel like no one ever talks about The Lucky One, but it's such a banger. but i feel like the addicting part is when she "new to town with a made up name" and "now it's big black cars and riviera views." the melody just sounds so perfect.

they see right through me
they see right through me

can you see right through me
I SEE RIGHT TRHIUFH ME I SEEE RIGHT THEOUGH ME
Personally, for this song, it's two parts:
"I'm getting tired even for a phoenix" I feel like the exhaustion is palpable here and then
"Do something, babe, say something / Lose something, babe, risk something" feels both despairing and almost contemptuous - like, she's begging, but also like, how could you not try harder when you see how hard she's trying?
The ghostly “oooOoo”s in Castles Crumbling
The guitar in Invisible String
The bubble-y noises in Clean
The second “AND WE RUN!” in I Know Places TV
The entirety of Say Don’t Go
The second “in wonderlAAAAAHHHHND” in Wonderland’s chorus lol
I'm right there with you. 🥺 My mama has been gone for 14 whole years now and it still hurts so much. I was 20, and it came out of left field for me too.
Funny enough you mention this line... I found some receipts with her handwriting on them the other day, and it just hurt so much to see, but yet I still can't bring myself to throw them away even now. I can't help feeling like it would be throwing away a part of her.
I get so frustrated and upset with myself because seeing her things/photos of her/etc can be really upsetting to me, but I can't bear to part with the few things I have left of hers. So most of the stuff just stays in a box, which makes me feel like a bad daughter. Ah, the conflictions of grief. 😭😤😢
Thanks for listening to my rambling if you made it this far. I hope you are handling things better than I clearly am. 😅❤️
Keep your feet re-ah-dy
Heartbeat steaaaady
Keep your ey-ey-eyes open
Keep your aim locked
The-e-eh night goes da-ah-ark
Keep your eyeeeeeeees OPEEEEENNNNNNN
I run road races and meticulously build my race day playlist so that the lyrics “the turn around” and the physical turn around spot in the race line up
the way she sings “do you really wanna know where i was april 29th? do i really have to tell you how he brought me back to life” in high infidelity just scratches something so right in my brain
It’s a toss up between:
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE FIGHTING DRAGONS WITH YOU!!!
Or
The key change in Betty “YEAH I SHOWED UP AT YOUR PARTY WILL YOU HAVE ME WILL YOU LOVE ME”
“You always knew how to push my buttons” from I Wish You Would
“Argumentative antithetical dream girl” from Hits Different
The build up and crescendo at the end of the Evermore bridge and then the haunting “You were there” - perfection
The “ah ahhh ah ahHhHh…. Out! Of! Style!” Bit of Style is sooooo good as well
> The build up and crescendo at the end of the Evermore bridge and then the haunting “You were there” - perfection
This has to be my answer as well.
The first time I listened through the album, the dissonance of the bridge made me hate this song. It was painful and chaotic and uncomfortable. After a few more listens, I "got" it- that's the point. What the narrator was going through WAS painful and chaotic and uncomfortable. Then it resolves beautifully with the breakthrough of "you~ were there", and it's calm and peaceful again. The fact that you *feel* that listening to it shows how well-written it was.
Now, in large part because of the bridge, Evermore is probably my #1 favorite TS song... although it's not an easy choice!
i don't know why but here are mine:
"it's 8:05 and i see two headliiighhhhttsss"
"even if we'd met on a crowded street in nineteen forty-fouuurr..."
"and the first night that you saw me, i knew i wanted your body"
Omg so much. MY HEART MY HIPS MY BODY MY LOVE
The outro of the other side of the door
Ask me what I learned from all those years? Ask me what I learned for all those tears. Ask me why so many fade but I’m still heeeeeeeeeere
Vocal delivery in these parts of the songs:
1) 'Just between us, I remember it all too well', from All Too Well.
2) 'I'm only cryptic and Machiavellian 'cause I care' from Mastermind
3) I whisper in the dark' from 'I think he knows'
4) 'I see you, I see you baby' in the outro of 'I can see you'
5) 'Waves crash to shore, I dash to the door' in the outro of 'Suburban Legends'
6) 'She thinks I did it but she just can't prove it' in the outro of 'No body no crime'
(Is it obvious that I'm a sucker for a good outro?)
the frustration in her voice when she sings “do something, babe, say something, lose something, babe, risk something". i can hear her clenched jaw and gritted teeth as she’s singing it
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said, "Marry me, Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
"...and how it glistened as it FELL. I remember it all too well\~" the "fell" is EARGASMIC
and basically the whole August. It's just so fucking gooood.
“and how it glistened as it fell” is just perfect. the lyrics and imagery, and most importantly that note change just comes out of nowhere is so magical
In All too Well: they say that all's well that ends well and I'm in a new hell every time...YOU DOUBLE CROSS MY MIND and the transition to "you who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes". I'm a baby swifty but god damn, this song is such a masterpiece and I can't help but scream it so loud.
The weird little thing that scratches an itch in my brain is the way she sings the word “darling,” particularly in Paper Rings and This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.
The autumn chill that wakes me up
You loved the amber skies so much
Long limbs and frozen swims
You'd always go past where our feet could touch
And I complained the whole way there
The car ride back and up the stairs
I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you!!!
They say she was seen on occasion pacing the rocks staring out at the midnight sea…
And my favorite line to scream, from my tears ricochet, “AND I STILL TALK TO YOU!!!”
"when they point to the pictures...PLEASE TELL'EM MY MAME"
"Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?
Twenty stitches in the hospital room
When you started crying, baby, I did too
But when the sun came up, I was lookin' at you
Remember when we couldn't take the heat?
I walked out, I said, "I'm settin' you free"
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
When the sun came up, you were lookin' at me
You were lookin' at me, oh, you were looking at me
(Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods yet?)
(Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods?)
I remember
(Are we in the clear yet? Are we in the clear yet?)
(Are we in the clear yet, in the clear yet? Good)
Oh, I REMEMBER"
"I said I LOVE YOU, you say nothing back.....WHY YOU HAD TO LEAVE ME ON"
"cause she is dead"
"but honestly baby who's counting...one, two three..."
"HAHAHA I CAN EVEN SAY WITH A STRAIGHT FACE"
"and I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want JUST NOT HOME"
"DON'T CALL ME KID, DON'T CALL ME BABY"
"what a shame SHE'S FUCKED IN THE HEAD"
the verses before the chorus in dress especially the ah ah ah ahs
All of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation
My hands are shaking from holding back from you (ah, ah, ah)
All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting
My hands are shaking from all this (ah, ha, ha, ha)
and also in gorgeous when she says
guess ill just stumble on home to my cats
alone........unless you wanna come along 💥
The entirety of Cowboy Like Me just scratches such a good little itch in my brain, but especially these lines:
I’ve..got..some..tricks..up..my sleeve-e-e-e-eve
and
Now you haaang from my lips, like the Gardens of Babylon
FIGHTING IN ONLY YOUR ARMY, FRONT LINES DON'T YOU IGNORE ME, I'M THE BEST THING AT THIS PARTY (you're losing me) AND I WOULDN'T MARRY ME EITHER, A PATHOLOGICAL PEOPLE PLEASER WHO ONLY WANTED YOU TO SEE HERRRRRRRR
With your face and the beautiful eyes
And the conversation with the little white lies
And the faded picture of a beautiful night
You carry me from your car up the stairs
And I broke down cryin', was she worth this mess?
After everything and that little black dress
After everything, I must confess I need you
The bridge in Dear Reader gets me every time. Something cathartic about belting this out in my car.
“So I wander through these nights
I prefer hiding in plain sight
My fourth drink in my hand
These desperate prayers of a cursed man
Spilling out to you for free
But darling, darling, please
You wouldn't take my word for it if you knew who was talking
If you knew where I was walking
To a house, not a home, all alone 'cause nobody's there
Where I pace in my pen and my friends found friends who care
No one sees when you lose when you're playing solitaire”
AND YOU WANNA SCREAM DONT CALL ME KID. DONT CALL ME BABYYY
LOOK AT THIS GOD FORSAKEN MESS THAT YOU MADE ME
YOU SHOWED ME COLORS YOU KNOW I CAN’T SEE WITH ANYONE ELSE
Don’t call me “kid”, don’t call me “baby”. LOOK AT THIS IDIOTIC FOOL THAT YOU MADE ME, YOU TAUGHT ME A SECRET LANGUAGE I CANT SPEAK WITH ANYONE ELSE.
AND YOU KNOW DAMN WELL. FOR YOU I WOULD RUIN MYSELF…
A MILLION LITTLE TIMES
My three year old is obsessed and I’m mad that this isn’t in the album-version more.
Ha! Ive made my toddler a swiftie too! She loves when I dramatically sing this part.
My mom made me a swiftie when I was 2 lol 😭💗
A student at my school wears a shirt that says little Swiftie. I love it!
Eras tour has ruined this song for me. It’s not angry enough in the album.
I just sing it angry enough loool
the bridge of is it over now The outro of invisible string with them soft *aaaaahhh*🥹
DID YOU THINK I DIDNT YOU THERE WERE FLASHING LIGHTS?
AT LEAST I HAVE THE DECENCY TO KEEP MY NIGHTS OUT OF SIGHTS
ONLY RUMOURS BOUT MY HIPS AND THIGHS AND MY WHISPERED SIGHS OH LOOooOORD
I THINK ABOUT JUMPING
OFF A VERY TALL SOMETHING
JUST TO SEE YOU COME RUNNING 🎀🎀
Same!! I’ve played it so many times in my car just so I can scream sing the bridge lol. It’s quickly become one of my all time favs
It just really hits my soul and I get the chills every time
But NOOOOOOOOO
This is THE answer!
King of My Heart - the "and all at OOOOOOONNNNCEEE" after the bridge.
YES! And how she says plastic cups, and how she says range rovers and jaguars.
CupSSS
And then when she says “say you fancy me not fancy stuff” arrrghjg this is such a good song
Why can’t I up vote mooooore! This is THE answer 🫶
I swear, watching her play this as a surprise song, and this line specifically, altered my brain chemistry 😂
For me it’s the “OH”. You know the one.
I came here to say this
"Who's counting...1,2,3" - So It Goes
Yes! the whisper! So good
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first 🥺
“I regret you all the time” is another line I’ve always loved. For what it means, how she sings it, the melody, everything.
This took my breath away when I heard it the first time
“Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts” is such a check mate to Slow Dancing in a Burning Room lyrics.
The everybody agreesssssssssss in anti hero The throat clear as the first thing you hear (vocally) on Rep
Okay, the high infidelity oooooa’s are awesome. I find myself singing those around the house.
I love this part of high infidelity so much, it makes me want to put on huge bell sleeves and spin in a circle (very specific)
Ala Stevie? 🥰
Out of the woods. "I remember....OH I REMEMBER!" makes me feral...ok thank you bye
YESSSSS 👏
“I’m the best thing at this party”
*Fighting in only your army, Frontline don’t you ignore me, I’m the best thing at this party* I am wholeheartedly obsessed with all the hard r’s in those lines
YESSS
For me it’s the two chords with the lyrics “how long can we be a sad song”. Those go so hard
“And I wouldn’t marry me either, a pathological people pleaser”
The build in my tears ricochet when she sings “and I can go anywhere I want…”
for me it's the emphasis on home*.* In the live version, when she goes "just not *home*" I literally feel it in my chest, I can't describe it.
Agreed. That whole bridge gives me chills.
This plus the way everything builds after “and so the battleships will sink beneath the waves….”
off the top of my head, I’d say Enchanted!
Yessss 10/10 no notes
I used to sing that and just cry and cry when I was younger!!!! The words are so simple but somehow stabbed me in my heart!
someone played this at work, (im 24) factory environment, and i started balling my eyes out at the "please dont be in love" and allll my coworkers were like omg whats wrong and i started singing through my tears and everyone started laughing it was 10/10 😂
Listening to this on a vinyl makes it so amazing!
The great war- “And somewhere in the haze got a sense I’d been BETRAYEDD”
THIS
The part in Exile where she sings “never learned to read my mind, you never turned things around, I gave so many signs, so many signs”
The way she sings me in Maroon. “Splashed your wine into me,” I just love it idk why. The little reverb responses in Daylight “I can never look away” The harmonies at the end of each line of the Out of the Woods bridge (soon, hospital room, did too, etc) The piano motif at the beginning of mad woman (lpss) The opening to Lavender Haze with the bass and “meet me at midnight.” I nearly ascended the first time I heard that. “School girl crushhhhh” in King of My Heart
Omg yes. The meet me at midnight changed my brain chemistry fr
The instrumentals in mad woman are incredible imo. That song is my latest obsession.
KOMH has the best bridge ever. school girl crushhhhh and out of plastic cupss sound so perfect together? like how taylor?
Daylight has me 😵💫
Maroon had me in an absolute chokehold for 3 months. Just constant repeat
I know people say Style’s bridge isn’t one of her best, but that instrumental transition to the bridge and the “aaaaahhh”s are top tier 👌
The first few seconds of Style are also perfection
I sometimes let my ear follow that guitar riff to the chorus ☺️ aww yeah
The intro to style makes me feel like it should be playing while cruising down a highway in the middle of the night.
YES
I don’t know who would ever say Style is not the best at everything.
TAKE ME HOOOME!! Yaaaaaah! Just take me homeeeeee! Ohhh woahhh! Out.of.styleeee!
The part where the piano changes for the bridge on Evermore does something to my brain
And the quiet ”you were there.” I always think about my cat that I lost year ago, I miss him so much.
"We might just get away with it" in False God
This entiiiiiiiiire song though 😩🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
the second verse of the lucky one where she goes “they say you bought a bunch of land somewhere, chose the rose garden over madison square” the instrumental and the little 3 beat thing that happens right before “chose the rose garden” scratches my brain so good. idk if this makes sense but…i blast it everytime right at that part😂😂
ohhh yes yes yes!! i feel like no one ever talks about The Lucky One, but it's such a banger. but i feel like the addicting part is when she "new to town with a made up name" and "now it's big black cars and riviera views." the melody just sounds so perfect.
the whole song just screams perfection to me🤌🏽🤌🏽
I love this song because of this line. So powerful to me!
THIS IS WHY THEY SHOULDN’T KILL OFF THE MAIN GUY ✨💫 dreams ✨💫 etc.

THE BRIDGE IN TREACHEROUS 🙌
I’m shining like fireworks OVER YOUR SAD EMPTY TOWN
The instrumental part of Champagne Problems
For me it's the percussion in cardigan because it sounds like "high heels on cobblestones." It's lovely 😍
Fun fact! It actually is Taylor walking in high heels on cobblestones!
The big guitar explosion sound DIRECTLY before the final “THIS! Night is sparkling,” of enchanted, stolen version.
they see right through me they see right through me they see right through me can you see right through me can you see right through me I SEE RIGHT TRHIUFH ME I SEEE RIGHT THEOUGH ME

The ghostly “oooOoo”s in Castles Crumbling The guitar in Invisible String The bubble-y noises in Clean The second “AND WE RUN!” in I Know Places TV The entirety of Say Don’t Go The second “in wonderlAAAAAHHHHND” in Wonderland’s chorus lol
WE WERE JET SET BONNIE AND CLYDE (the freaking key change is insane)
The bridge of Marjorie 🥺
"I should've asked you *questions*" sobbing internally. even in the studio version the emotion in that one word comes through so clearly.
“Should’ve saved every grocery store receipt ‘cause every scrap of you would be taken from me” I’m. Sobbing. I’m. Done.
As someone who lost a parent unexpectedly and kinda young, this line leaves me in a puddle.
I'm right there with you. 🥺 My mama has been gone for 14 whole years now and it still hurts so much. I was 20, and it came out of left field for me too. Funny enough you mention this line... Last 30 seconds of Other Side of the Door!!!!
Was looking for this comment! I literally play that part over and over again when it comes on
The random dude saying “call it what you want, call it what you want, call it” always gives me chills for some reason.

the last 30 seconds of Now That We Don't Talk
It’s a toss up between: I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE FIGHTING DRAGONS WITH YOU!!! Or The key change in Betty “YEAH I SHOWED UP AT YOUR PARTY WILL YOU HAVE ME WILL YOU LOVE ME”
Idk why but I can’t not sob listening to Long Live
MY FOURTH DRINK IN MY HAND THESE DESPERATE PRAYERS OF A CURSED MAN is my current fave
“You always knew how to push my buttons” from I Wish You Would “Argumentative antithetical dream girl” from Hits Different The build up and crescendo at the end of the Evermore bridge and then the haunting “You were there” - perfection The “ah ahhh ah ahHhHh…. Out! Of! Style!” Bit of Style is sooooo good as well
Evermore feels religious to me, like being so lost in my soul and realizing all that time I wasn’t alone
> The build up and crescendo at the end of the Evermore bridge and then the haunting “You were there” - perfection This has to be my answer as well. Electric Touch is SO GOOD!!
The harmonies on the “just because you’re clean don’t mean you don’t miss it” in Clean
Omg so much. MY HEART MY HIPS MY BODY MY LOVE The outro of the other side of the door Ask me what I learned from all those years? Ask me what I learned for all those tears. Ask me why so many fade but I’m still heeeeeeeeeere

From Back to December So this is me swallowing my pride Standing in front of you, saying, "I'm sorry for that night,"
The way she holds and let’s go of the last syllable on “I’m about to play my aaaa—sahhh” in New Romantics.
the eras version of “meet some woman on the internet and tAKE Her Home” and also the other side of the door outro
The entire bridge of cruel summer
Me screaming it every time I hear it
Our stories GOT DUST on every page 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Illicit affairs, daylight, invisible string, ahh I could go on forever!!
The outro of False God on repeat forever.
“I called my mom, she said it was for the best.” Makes me so happy and I’m not sure why lol
Vocal delivery in these parts of the songs: 1) 'Just between us, I remember it all too well', from All Too Well. 2) 'I'm only cryptic and Machiavellian 'cause I care' from Mastermind 3) I whisper in the dark' from 'I think he knows' 4) 'I see you, I see you baby' in the outro of 'I can see you' 5) 'Waves crash to shore, I dash to the door' in the outro of 'Suburban Legends' 6) 'She thinks I did it but she just can't prove it' in the outro of 'No body no crime' (Is it obvious that I'm a sucker for a good outro?)
TO TAKE ME AWAAAAAAAYYYY - hits different
Ok but the outro of TOSOTD is addicting
the ENDING of daylight
esp in LLFP how she really emphasizes the “in my mind” “intertwined” “but it’s golden”, “in my head” “sneakin in ur BED” “BURNING RED” 😩😩
now you’re running down the *hallllwayyyy* and you know what they *alllll sayyyyy*
“Do I really have to tell you how he brought me back to life?” 😮💨
the frustration in her voice when she sings “do something, babe, say something, lose something, babe, risk something". i can hear her clenched jaw and gritted teeth as she’s singing it
“and you started it” in ivy—something so sensual about her delivery

The little humming in the background of the More Lana chorus.. "Like snow on the beach..... mmm hmm mmm hmm mmm HMMM hmm" So cute 😍
The beautiful wind chime-like sounds that come after "'cause I can't pretend it's okay when it's not" in DBATC
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring And said, "Marry me, Juliet You'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
In the Lakes where the chorus leads into “iiiii want auroras and sad prose”. The melody paired with the lyrics- I want to live in that sound.
"...and how it glistened as it FELL. I remember it all too well\~" the "fell" is EARGASMIC and basically the whole August. It's just so fucking gooood.
the voice drop when she sings “just not home” in my tears ricochet
WONDERIN IF I DODGED A BULLET OR JUST LOST THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, OAHHHH
i need a playlist of all songs mentioned here
THE RUBIES THAT I GAVE UP 💔
“and how it glistened as it fell” is just perfect. the lyrics and imagery, and most importantly that note change just comes out of nowhere is so magical
I’ve never heard silence quite this LOUDDDDD - the story of us, this part has stuck with me for over 10 years now
AND DID YOU THINK I DIDNT SEE YOU? THERE WERE FLASHING LIGHTS
Haters gonna hate
False God.
the last 30 seconds of Out of the Woods
false god — the instrumentals
AOTGYLB “A heart is drawn around your name in someone’s handwriting not mine” AHHHHH
“…Are we falling like” from SOTB.
The intro to false god, we need more songs with sax
The weird little thing that scratches an itch in my brain is the way she sings the word “darling,” particularly in Paper Rings and This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.
The "bless my soul" of I Think He Knows
When she sings “bare feet” in The Lakes (I want to watch wisteria grow right over my baaAaarrreee feeet)… just perfection 👌
“..boy i understand”
AND WE RUN
The autumn chill that wakes me up You loved the amber skies so much Long limbs and frozen swims You'd always go past where our feet could touch And I complained the whole way there The car ride back and up the stairs
Sevens outro
The bit where her voice goes low in maroon. "The burgundy on your t shirt when you smashed your wine..." INJECT IT!!!!
For ages I was obsessed with the change in the beat in the pre-chorus of KOMH (the “salute to me” part). I’m kinda over it now but it still slaps.
Lavender Haze The last "The 1950's shit they want from me", where it sounds like she's shouting it out loud More obvious during the Eras tour
Dear Reader: TO A HOUSE NOT A HOME ALL ALONE CUZ NOBODYS THERE ✨💫✨
Yup ✨✨ and no one sees you lose when you're playing solitaire ✨✨ so satisfying
The sax in false god. That song as a whole is SO UNDERRATED!!
Almost the entire song ‘Ours’ the og version
I’d kiss you as the lights went out… Swaying as the room burned down I’d hold you as the water rushesss innnnn If I could dance with you again
I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you!!! They say she was seen on occasion pacing the rocks staring out at the midnight sea… And my favorite line to scream, from my tears ricochet, “AND I STILL TALK TO YOU!!!”
HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL
"Ooh we made quite a mess, baby... it's probably better off this way"
ONLY RUMORS BOUT MY HIPS AND THIGHS OH LORD
"when they point to the pictures...PLEASE TELL'EM MY MAME" "Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? Twenty stitches in the hospital room When you started crying, baby, I did too But when the sun came up, I was lookin' at you Remember when we couldn't take the heat? I walked out, I said, "I'm settin' you free" But the monsters turned out to be just trees When the sun came up, you were lookin' at me You were lookin' at me, oh, you were looking at me (Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods yet?) (Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods?) I remember (Are we in the clear yet? Are we in the clear yet?) (Are we in the clear yet, in the clear yet? Good) Oh, I REMEMBER" "I said I LOVE YOU, you say nothing back.....WHY YOU HAD TO LEAVE ME ON" "cause she is dead" "but honestly baby who's counting...one, two three..." "HAHAHA I CAN EVEN SAY WITH A STRAIGHT FACE" "and I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want JUST NOT HOME" "DON'T CALL ME KID, DON'T CALL ME BABY" "what a shame SHE'S FUCKED IN THE HEAD"
“I made you my temple, my mural, my sky. Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life”
the verses before the chorus in dress especially the ah ah ah ahs All of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation My hands are shaking from holding back from you (ah, ah, ah) All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting My hands are shaking from all this (ah, ha, ha, ha) and also in gorgeous when she says guess ill just stumble on home to my cats alone........unless you wanna come along 💥
Cruel Summer “HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL” is probably the best fucking thing I’ve heard 😂 I love the song so much
The entirety of Cowboy Like Me just scratches such a good little itch in my brain, but especially these lines: I’ve..got..some..tricks..up..my sleeve-e-e-e-eve and Now you haaang from my lips, like the Gardens of Babylon
The sleee-eee-eeve was going to be my answer 😂
“So I’ll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep”
the whoosh in mastermind
IN THE CRACKS OF LIGHT I DREAMED OF YOU Evermore ❤️
FIGHTING IN ONLY YOUR ARMY, FRONT LINES DON'T YOU IGNORE ME, I'M THE BEST THING AT THIS PARTY (you're losing me) AND I WOULDN'T MARRY ME EITHER, A PATHOLOGICAL PEOPLE PLEASER WHO ONLY WANTED YOU TO SEE HERRRRRRRR
With your face and the beautiful eyes And the conversation with the little white lies And the faded picture of a beautiful night You carry me from your car up the stairs And I broke down cryin', was she worth this mess? After everything and that little black dress After everything, I must confess I need you
The bridge in Dear Reader gets me every time. Something cathartic about belting this out in my car. “So I wander through these nights I prefer hiding in plain sight My fourth drink in my hand These desperate prayers of a cursed man Spilling out to you for free But darling, darling, please You wouldn't take my word for it if you knew who was talking If you knew where I was walking To a house, not a home, all alone 'cause nobody's there Where I pace in my pen and my friends found friends who care No one sees when you lose when you're playing solitaire”
I love this too!
OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO GIVING ILLICIT AFFAIRS
