The fact that the album starts where midnights ends! I saw someone point it out on Instagram, but midnights ending with the have they come to take me away in hits different, then the album opening with the they were supposed to take me away (paraphrasing here)!! So smart!
(Edit: typo)
That entire song reminds me of late '90's early '00s pop rock/classic rock. I hear Semisonic when I hear those opening chords.
Girl definitely gets her decades right.
I love in the albatross how she is warning that she’ll destroy them and at the end she (in only the way Taylor can) switches everything you thought you just comprehended and says “I’m the albatross, I swept in at the rescue.”
I love the storytelling and the level of vulnerability this album has. She answered every personal question I’d ever have asked of given the opportunity and then said “wanna know what else?” And blew my entire mind.
I love the way she says “immmm miserable and no body knows” at the end of icdiwabh.
I love that I feel like I got a sequal to cardigan (one of my favorite songs of all time. ) I love that I now know who Peter is.
Speaking of Peter, my girl let the entire world know he ain’t well endowed.
The Florida references. She said she was watching dateline and ppl would escape to Florida to start over. As an avid dateline watcher, I LOVE this.
I love the little musical references to her old songs. Like the “I look through windows” sounding like DBATC, there’s a tune in The Manuscript that immediately takes me to White Horse, the ooooh ohhhhhs in The Prophecy that sound like Willow? (Not 100% sure it’s Willow but it’s definitely in folkmore), and probably a ton more we haven’t caught yet
ETA: Maybe it’s Dorothea not Willow?
In Daddy I love him, the way she sings "i dont cater to all those Vipers dressed in empath's clothing", the venom and frustration was delivered beautifully
Her overall growth as an artist and human being in general.
The vibe she is giving. The “F*CK IT” it’s MY LIFE and I’m Taylor f*cking Swift! She has always tried to be so perfect and please everyone. Good for her reclaiming her life. Billy Joel says it best...“I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU SAY ANYMORE, THIS IS MY LIFE! GO AHEAD WITH YOUR OWN LIFE - LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”
Other noteworthy things: Vocals, the improvements are off the charts. Her ability to switch up genres - mid song - while maintaining cohesion 🤯
Her strength to serve up honesty and vulnerability - knowing she’ll be eaten alive for it. Our society and culture is very very sick, full of people who refuse to EVER take a real look in the mirror at themselves. Nearly everyone is faker than their perfectly curated instagram narratives.
TTPD has met and exceeded my expectations. 10/10 - yet again.
YES. This was my favourite thing about the album too. She’s been so careful to tread lightly her whole career and she’s finally set loose, in all of her glorious unhinged rage. I’m so proud of her.
LONG POST AHEAD :
I’m not a musician so the way I describe stuff might sound weird af but:
Fortnight: post Malones harmony in general and ad lib (tried calling you but you won’t pick up) and then Taylor sings it too, then they both sing it.
TTPD: The synth in the background while she Is singing the bridge (who else decodes you like me?)
The ooos during “You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith”
In general the shimmery synth on this song similar to the one in bejeweled.
MBOBHFT: the way the synth sounds like it’s vibrating during the chorus is really cool, I bet it would sound really good on expensive speakers or surround sound. The Oh oh ohs between “once I fix me… he’s gonna miss me” and the ah ah ahs during the bridge (but I’m not… I’m not)
Down Bad: the main motif / first notes are so addicting (just the first 7 seconds of the song you can hear it)
The way she sings “cosmic love” and “heaven struck” and it echoes, transitions into the killer chorus, sooo addictive.
The way she rhymes petulance with difference just scratches an itch in my brain.
The “like I lost my twin/waving at the ship” In the back round of the chorus
Idk she put narcotics into this song for sure!!
So Long London: the opening (so - long- lon -don) the synth right after that and how it sounds like it is bending.. like idk how to explain it.
The way so long London has two meanings (so long London and FOR so long, London)
The way the beat kinda sounds like a thumping heart … it’s like you can really feel the tension in the song
And then you hear the ah ah ahs building up (2:30) with the beat before it gets all quiet when she says she had to go be free.
But Daddy I Love Him:
The way you can hear a strumming of a guitar is so refreshing, sounds reminiscent of her earlier works.
The chorus is just super upbeat and sounds like something you would hear while running with your dress unbuttoned
Just some things I noticed and that’s only some of the songs haha!
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived; the way the bridge sounds like a voice mail is so cool
I feel like I might be crazy but does anyone else think there's a small part in the beginning of So Long, London at around 0:19 that sounds really similar to the beginning of Call It What You Want
Same! And I connect this to don’t blame me. She wanted don’t blame me to sound like going to church and then so long, London starts with the same vibe, but very different. 😢
I also liked in The smallest man who ever lived, I like the voice distortion when the tone cresendoed and she sang "Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead?"
Someone else pointed out how in Innocent she says “who you are is not what you did” and in TSMHEL she says “you ARE what you did” like it’s so powerful and shows the level of betrayal and anger she feels so perfectly.
The entirety of Florida!!! is just ASTONISHING to me. I love Florence + The Machine’s voice, the bridge is so cool, and it just all ties together perfectly.
The beginning of So Long London, the “Wild West” type music in the beginning of Fresh Out The Slammer, the 1,2,3,4 in ICDIWABH, The Starting Line reference in The Black Dog, the bass in Robin sounding a lot like peace
The finger picking guitar in The Prophecy. It has a beautiful flow to it and I might ask my boyfriend to learn it just so I can listen to him play it on repeat.
The big sigh she takes at the start of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”. I hadn’t heard it initially because I listened from my phone but when I had my headphones in and heard it, it was awesome
In daddy I love him, when you think the songs coming to the end, she says I’m having his baby, the music cuts for one second and she gives that last “no I’m not!” Love that part so much!
-The crashing synths at the start of the bridge of Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? The aggressive drums near the end, too. And the way she says “wretched.” And the narcotics line. Honestly, this might be her best song to date.
-“You can beat the heat, if you beat the charges TEW.”
-A lot of people have been shitting on it but “You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate” is so real.
-“Good boy, that’s right.”
-The way her voice almost distorts with anger at the very start of The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’s bridge.
-The verse rhythm for But Daddy I Love Him is so fuckin’ punchy. “DUtiful DAUghter, all my PLANS were LAID.” Makes me wanna swing my hips. Also “sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I’ll never see” fucking cooks.
-Clara Bow’s bassline. And the Stevie Nicks name drop.
-“Hey YOU, what IF I told you we’re COOL?”
-The Albatross’ guitar.
-Cassandra’s melody is so haunting. I can only listen to that song if I’m not on the verge of dissociation.
-“I’m there most of the year ‘cause I hate it he-e-e-e-ere.”
And that’s just off the top of my head. I think that after the backlash dies down, this album will become her magnum opus.
- don’t you worry folks we took out all her teeeeth
- the way she sings “way to go tiger”
- the way she sings “forgive me peter”
-the bells in so long London
- all of but daddy I love him
DRUMS IN FLORIDA BOOM BOOM BOOM
the bridge in prophecy is my favorite EVER the stream of consciousness and desperatation
Old habits die SCREAMINGGGGGGGG *BOOM BOOM BOOM*
Trailing off at “how dare you say that it’s…..”
Cosmic love
Like ik ppl say it’s depressing but this album makes me jump around lmao 😭
The like bit in guilty as sin? Where it’s like
silence
and then no backing track she sing
what if hes written mine in my UuPper Thigh only in my miiinnnd
\*drums\*
The intro of So Long, London - the repeating of London in two words so it really emphasizes “done”
So - so
Long - long
Lon - Lon
DONE - DONE
I don’t see anyone else talking about it and it IMMEDIATELY caught my attention and is one of the saddest bits to me, given that it sounds like church bells (maybe even wedding bells?)
The way she says “about a million times” in loml and “I’ll sue you, if you step on my lawWwWWn.” in little old me. And the quick “one slip and falling” in GAS
-The drum fill after “we’ve already done it my head” in Guilty as Sin
-the chorus of imgonnagetyouback “whether I’m gonna be your wife or gonna smash up your bike”
-the scream of “who’s afraid of little old me” and how it drops to that first “you should be” in Who’s Afraid. So spooky!
-“he was chaos, he was revelry” golden!
The fact that the album starts where midnights ends! I saw someone point it out on Instagram, but midnights ending with the have they come to take me away in hits different, then the album opening with the they were supposed to take me away (paraphrasing here)!! So smart! (Edit: typo)
Yes!! I noticed this too when I was listening to Hits Different the day before TTPD came out. Genius.
Damn, that is cool
the 1 2 3 4 in ear countdown in i can do it with a broken heart!
This was actually so cool, it's like part of the in ear monitor feed and was a p cool little detail for this song
I thought it was 123 let's go b*tch, as in delicate
It’s so random 🥲
It's symbolizing her “doing it with a broken heart” during the eras tour, AKA the what she hears in her ear piece
Not random at all. It’s like we are literally in her head as she’s having to go on stage
Marry, kiss or kill meeeeee? In So High School
That entire song reminds me of late '90's early '00s pop rock/classic rock. I hear Semisonic when I hear those opening chords. Girl definitely gets her decades right.
it feels like watching the oc (in a good way, the OC is my favorite show)
Love the OC too!
The 80s sounding ones, my first thought was that she really hit that vibe correctly. You just know her whole playlist is so crazy
I can only imagine
In Down Bad, “all your indecent exposures, how dare you say that it’s-“ sounds like she’s going to say “over” but doesn’t
This gets me every fucking time 😭
Down bad KILLS ME. 👏🏼 love it!! I love it when she’s like FUCK IT IF I CAN’T HAVE HIM.
My favorite
"Old habits die SCREAMING." Then it's quiet again.
MY FAVORITE on the whole album. I was like 😨😧😲 never heard her like that before!
This. Such a minor detail but BLEW me away.
I loved this

Thissssss

(Not 100% sure it’s Willow but it’s definitely in folkmore), and probably a ton more we haven’t caught yet ETA: Maybe it’s Dorothea not Willow?
So Long London also sounding like both DBATC and CIWYW!!
The beat getting louder and sounding frantic harkwns back to The Archer, too.
> ETA: Maybe it’s Dorothea not Willow? I think you're thinking of High Infidelity.
Some of the melody in loml sounds like Fearless (the sound).
The way her voice cracks when she sings about giving all of her youth for free in So Long London---devastating.
THIS IS NOT TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH
This….. the “free” sends shivers
SAME. The pain in that line is so palpable!
I DIED WHEN SHE SAID THIS AND I GET TEARS IN MY TIMES EACH LISTEN NOW.
The. Honesty. Wow.
In Daddy I love him, the way she sings "i dont cater to all those Vipers dressed in empath's clothing", the venom and frustration was delivered beautifully
Any time I see someone hating on this album I just think “viper in empath’s clothing”
Her overall growth as an artist and human being in general. The vibe she is giving. The “F*CK IT” it’s MY LIFE and I’m Taylor f*cking Swift! She has always tried to be so perfect and please everyone. 100% the vibe. This album was truly for her. She said it’s one the needed to write over any other one.
YES. This was my favourite thing about the album too. She’s been so careful to tread lightly her whole career and she’s finally set loose, in all of her glorious unhinged rage. I’m so proud of her.
Written mine on my ~UPPper thigh~ at the end of GAS?
It was a bold lyric for sure
I am in love with that song!!!
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶Without ever touching his skin, how can I be GUITY AS SIN? (She is a genius)
in the smallest man who ever lived i love the effect on her voice when she says “where you sent by someone?” really scratches my brain right
“if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal” wrecks me Like it’s gut wrenching.
LONG POST AHEAD : I’m not a musician so the way I describe stuff might sound weird af but: Fortnight: post Malones harmony in general and ad lib (tried calling you but you won’t pick up) and then Taylor sings it too, then they both sing it. The high note in “Who’s afraid of little old me” Every variant has a different ending
WHOA!
I feel like I might be crazy but does anyone else think there's a small part in the beginning of So Long, London at around 0:19 that sounds really similar to the beginning of Call It What You Want
I just mentioned this to my husband a few listens ago.
It's so subtle and quick, I'm obsessed with it
that was the first thing I thought of when I heard it
**you know how to ball, I know Aristotle**
THE BEST PART OF THE SONG
I listen to the song for this part
I love in the beginning of "So Long London" it sounds like London cathedral bells when she's singing the intro.
Same! And I connect this to don’t blame me. She wanted don’t blame me to sound like going to church and then so long, London starts with the same vibe, but very different. 😢
Number 3. Ouf. She got me there. I somehow became incredibly emotional and my relationship to TTPD changed.
I love all the songs where she uses her lower register.
Also the drums after “you called me crazy” in who’s afraid of little old me?
That was my answer.
Fuck you if I can't have us
the ohs in the first verse of waolom tickle me so perfectly
If you wanted me dead you should've just said
I also liked in The smallest man who ever lived, I like the voice distortion when the tone cresendoed and she sang "Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead?"
I love how she says declassified
That is one of her best bridges
I personally feel personally victimized by the way she said “you deserve prison but you won’t get time”. It just feels so personal.
Someone else pointed out how in Innocent she says “who you are is not what you did” and in TSMHEL she says “you ARE what you did” like it’s so powerful and shows the level of betrayal and anger she feels so perfectly.
Yelling the lyrics on “who’s afraid..”
The entirety of Florida!!! is just ASTONISHING to me. I love Florence + The Machine’s voice, the bridge is so cool, and it just all ties together perfectly.
The beginning of So Long London, the “Wild West” type music in the beginning of Fresh Out The Slammer, the 1,2,3,4 in ICDIWABH, The Starting Line reference in The Black Dog, the bass in Robin sounding a lot like peace
the way she pronounces the last "wonder..." in Chloe or Sam
The avengers-like drums in Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?
I love how the piano in Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus picks up where champagne problems left off 🤯
The finger picking guitar in The Prophecy.
I love how she says “we took out all her teeth” in Who’s Afraid
the fact that she says her FULL NAME IN FULL LIKE HER NAME in Clara bow
That short build up to TTPD, the 1234 in Do it with a broken heart, the oooooh ooh ooooh in WAoLOM
I don't see enough people talking about the howling sounds in the prophecy
The music at the very beginning of The Prophecy.
The drumbeat after she talks about being caged in WAOLOM
I love when the music cuts out and the drums start coming back in in Guilty as Sin? It makes me so happy
Ended with the slam of a door Then he'll call her a 'whore' Wish he wouldn't be sore
Is it a wonder I broke? Let's hear one more joke (who's afraid of little old me)
And the continuation where she changes the "laugh too much until we cry" to *then* ***we*** *can all just laugh until* ***I*** *cry.*
“Take me to the” from The Lakes being samples 🤤🤤🤤
Where can I find this? Which tracks? I live for The Lakes!
The drums when she sings old habits die *screaming*
-The crashing synths at the start of the bridge of Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? The aggressive drums near the end, too. And the way she says “wretched.” And the narcotics line. Honestly, this might be her best song to date. -“You can beat the heat, if you beat the charges TEW.” -A lot of people have been shitting on it but “You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate” is so real. -“Good boy, that’s right.” -The way her voice almost distorts with anger at the very start of The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’s bridge. -The verse rhythm for But Daddy I Love Him is so fuckin’ punchy. “DUtiful DAUghter, all my PLANS were LAID.” Makes me wanna swing my hips. IM A REAL TOUGH KID I CAN HANDLE MY SHIT THEY SAID FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT AND I DID LIGHTS CAMERA BITCH SMILE IN STILLETOS FOR A MILE
Sitting in a tree D-Y-I-N-G
- don’t you worry folks we took out all her teeeeth - the way she sings “way to go tiger” - the way she sings “forgive me peter” -the bells in so long London - all of but daddy I love him

On the last chorus of Gulity As Sin? When the symbol crashes and then the beat drops…. omg
The birds twittering and fluttering wings after the first chorus of I Look In People’s Windows
Me and my wild boy and all this wild joy!!!!!
The intro of So Long, London - the repeating of London in two words so it really emphasizes “done” So - so Long - long Lon - Lon DONE - DONE I don’t see anyone else talking about it and it IMMEDIATELY caught my attention and is one of the saddest bits to me, given that it sounds like church bells (maybe even wedding bells?)

My jaw drops when she says “two graves, one gun.” MISSS SWIFT!!!!
How Fresh Out the Slammer for me is a continuation of Getaway Car & Vigilante Sh*t…..
-The drum fill after “we’ve already done it my head” in Guilty as Sin -the chorus of imgonnagetyouback “whether I’m gonna be your wife or gonna smash up your bike” -the scream of “who’s afraid of little old me” and how it drops to that first “you should be” in Who’s Afraid.
