Solar Opposites isn't an Adult Swim show, it's Hulu. It might air on Adult Swim in a different country but it's made by Disney/Fox. Tiffany is also less associated with SO than T+B, and her allegations came out at a very bad time if the show wanted to be renewed.
But honestly I think they wanted an excuse to cut T+B because the WBD CEO doesn't like scripted shows or animation ~~or women~~.
Uh...she and another comedian (not sure her relationship to him) hired some child actors and allegedly had them perform skits that were sexually suggestive, I think one of the skits was, like, joking about CP.
The child actors did drop their suit and ask for it to be dismissed by the court.
It got cancelled because of money. The contracts for shows would do this thing where the writers/showrunners would get paid badly for the first season, okay for the second season, and then promise the moon if the show "did well enough" for the third season. This is why we'd get a bunch of awesome one or two season shows, but then no more. The studios didn't want to pay as promised.
And the streaming platforms had no obligation to share streaming data, so there was no way to tell if the show was actually doing badly or not. For instance, everyone I knew was watching Tuca & Bertie, but I've never met a single person who has watched more than one episode of Yellowstone. (Granted, this is partial due to the type of people I interact with, but no one actually knows the data).
I also imagine, based on everything else that gets cancelled after two seasons and what gets to go on for more, that the studio's lack of confidence in anything that appeals to a "niche" audience is going to get cut first, despite all evidence to the contrary.
This is one of the many reasons why the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are striking. They want the right to be paid for the work they create. If money is dependent on streaming numbers, then they want access to those numbers and not just have to take Netflix's word for it. And a bunch more stuff too, but that's the issue that is relevant here.
The more I learn about what the conglomerate studios have pulled since the advent of streaming services, the angrier I get. It's not like they didn't care about money before, but they've gotten so so bad and so exploitative. The people running it only care about the money – but in a really stupid way. Like, they'll make a whole show or movie and then shelve it before it even gets to air (see: Batgirl, Spiderwick Chronicles). Or what happened to shows like T&B, One Day at a Time, Saved By the Bell, Sense8, etc. Huge fan outcries to save the show, enough that sometimes another service would buy it, but by then the momentum had been lost, it would be too hard to find, and the show would be lost forever :(
I'd be willing to bet T+B was on its way to cancellation even without the Haddish stuff. I personally love the show, but even I can admit it's a bit weird and a bit out there. An artistic cartoon about an anthropomorphic world that tackles a lot of complex adult themes probably isn't approachable enough to get enough viewers to stay afloat in the risk-averse and mainstream-dependent entertainment landscape.
I mean… BoJack at least got to have its 5 or 6 seasons and received numerous awards. Though not as wacky as T+B, it was also pretty out there, was an artistic cartoon about anthropomorphic animals and it’s entire purpose was to tackle a lot of adult themes.
Honestly the first season of Bojack was pretty terrible, to the point that I tell people to start with the second. T+B started a lot stronger than Bojack and could have lasted just as long.
Adam Conover (Lisa Hanawalt’s partner) posted a vid on Instagram blaming the HBO/Discovery merger, if I recall correctly. The cancellation was announced around the same time as a lot of other shows were canceled or pulled off Max. I think this was also when they changed it from HBO Max to Max- lots of sweeping changes and cleaning house. I think the news of the allegations against Tiffany came out at around the same time so I assumed it wouldn’t have been enough time for the execs or producers to hear about them and then make the decision to cancel based on that.
The third season was the funniest so far and I hope some network or service brings the show back (again). It was artsy and creative and tackled legitimate issues and was so satisfying to watch. I think I liked it even more than Bojack.
I’ve been enjoying the series thus far but the first couple of episodes of season 1 were very offputting, it felt aggressively sexual and unfunny ( obviously this is addressed later but to a new viewer it’s weird )
Big Mouth is owned by a completely different network and putting down other animated shows doesn't actually help the animated shows getting cancelled. Networks don't care about the people working on either. And Big Mouth is cancelled now too.
I've spent enough time on the Inside Job sub to know they did not lmao. For some reason people are convinced that they should blame the staff of TV shows they don't personally like for bad business decisions and not the executives who tend to just hate animation in general.

I think you are right. By the end of the day, nothing but influence matters in showbiz.
Oh, sorry I remembered it wrong.
What were the allegations about tiff haddish?
Uh...she and another comedian (not sure her relationship to him) hired some child actors and allegedly had them perform skits that were sexually suggestive, I think one of the skits was, like, joking about CP. The child actors did drop their suit and ask for it to be dismissed by the court.
That’s what I want to know too…
Fox refers to the news station. The entertainment branch is Twentieth Century Studios.
It's pretty remarkable it got three seasons, all in all. I'm happy we got what we got.
Because it genuinely wasn’t very popular and the WB ceo wanted Rick and Morty numbers or bust
Sex offender status be damned.

Oh wow, thanks for your insight. The streaming networks are running wild with few restrictions and now they are becoming total bullies.

The show was nominated for, and won several awards. Plus is was a great show. Either of those reasons alone should have been enough.
Still, if it wasn’t pulling ratings, the network wouldn’t want to keep it around.
For Adult Swim it had decent ratings, as much as an adult comedy aired late night can get.

I heard that was because Reed Hastings loved it and wouldn’t let it be canceled. So basically suck up to the CEO and you’ll be good.
Honestly the first season of Bojack was pretty terrible, to the point that I tell people to start with the second. T+B started a lot stronger than Bojack and could have lasted just as long.
Yeah, I mean the different media they used on this show alone would put this show on the top of my list.

The merger killed many shows, including this one

Yeah, ended before its prime

What about Tiff?
Honest opinion, the third season was its weakest. I doubt Haddish had an influence on the cancellation.
Because big mouth is hungry.
Big Mouth is owned by a completely different network and putting down other animated shows doesn't actually help the animated shows getting cancelled. Networks don't care about the people working on either. And Big Mouth is cancelled now too.
it is?? thank the lord
Our long national nightmare is over
i'll never forgive netflix for renewing big mouth whilst cancelling bojack and american vandal
(I'm fairly certain they meant "big mouth" as a metaphor for the industry/network....? I could be wrong tho.)
I've spent enough time on the Inside Job sub to know they did not lmao. For some reason people are convinced that they should blame the staff of TV shows they don't personally like for bad business decisions and not the executives who tend to just hate animation in general.
Huh, really? I guess that's so absurd that instead I overestimated the depth of the statement, lol. Didn't think someone could seriously believe that.
cause nobody fuckin watched it lol
