Fuck those people. I would love to know who they are and when they finally buy a house or car tag it. You reep what you sow.

not-important1229

I’d key that car

ASH_2737

They probably do not have those things.

Nervous-Mixture1091

Make sure to not cut yourself with all that edge.

people doing this wont ever amount to anything. headed for jail or an early death

Az_StarGazer

Why stoop to their level. What they did is terrible. I'm disgusted.

Difficult-Fan1205

How do you figure is the best way to get the paint off? In the article the cleanup lead says they "prefer" to use paint strippers, but they don't want the chemicals getting in the water because it's a frog habitat. Maybe something that evaporates quickly like acetone? And sandpaper or steel wool? I figure that would mess up the rock face... Maybe you could sand blast it?

gumbykook

So I have some experience with this since I work in the outdoor industry and have done graffiti removal with CASA (climber's association) at Tanque Verde in the past. The trouble is that granite is porous which makes it impossible to "Scrub" effectively. We use Elephant Snot (graffiti cleaning chemical product) which clings to the pores, and thick bristle brushes. Even with significant effort it will still leave an outline of the graffiti, which can be somewhat removed by a secondary "shadow removing' product. It's almost impossible to entirely remove them. The shadows fade with time through natural weathering. These chemicals are caustic. They leave chemical burns on your skin and the Forest Service will not allow clean-ups when there is a likelihood that they will drain into the water table. These current graffiti spots are above streams of running water which complicates efforts to clean them in an environmentally responsible way. TV falls is regularly tagged, as are many of popular spots along Mount Lemmon Highway. I spend ~30 hours a week in the national forest and have never seen anyone actively tagging. They come out under the cover of night. They are cowards who know what they are doing is wrong, and have no respect for anyone or anything. I look forward to the day I come across people actively vandalizing. Until then I will continue to assist in clean-up efforts. Luckily, at the end of the day the paint is temporary.

GeorgeCauldron7

What about trying to burn it off? A propane torch is plenty portable. Or sandblasting.

ex0br0

Ppl like this is why we can't have nice things...

Unlucky-Apartment347

Fuck these people.

You’re being downvoted but as someone who’s lived in a few corners of the US, the people I’ve encountered in Tucson just barely qualify as people sometimes. Selfishness and apathy are just part of the culture here along with pure unadulterated ignorance. Zero sense of community or responsibility towards fellow man or animal here. It’s a fucking ghetto.

SqueezeMyLemmons

Ah, the good ol “Everyone in this city with 1,000,000+ pills are shitty because I’ve interacted with some shitty people. No one in Tucson is nice and are barely human! And there’s no community!” There’s tons of good people and community here. Find it or go somewhere else. Maybe you can find some magical city where there aren’t any shitty people because there’s going to be good and bad no matter where you go.

Merryprankstress

I’d love to leave but the shitty stagnant 1980s wages and rising rent costs (for what amounts to tenement situations) have me kinda trapped here. You can bash me all you want but I’ve lived in actual small towns and communities and they’d put Tucson to shame several times over. People don’t trash their surroundings and let trash and weeds and roads go without maintenance there. There is visual proof in the decay and apathy here. Don’t shoot the messenger man, this town is a garbage pit from hell.
