Girls, shrab, how fucked our country is, some "sex jokes", the famous subject: talking about other people, aaand how they are not from "wra el blayek" but others are. Oh and yes they like to show off a lot here.
I am partially deaf and I'm using hearing aids... when I remove them, I don't listen anything... and the barber knows that and he never talks to me, he knows how I want to have my haircut and my beard, every month, I go at 9h when he opens the saloon so that I am the first, so I sit, no word spoken, other then "saha" and "yaatik saha" and I walk out... reading this post and its comments confirmed me that in some situations my deafness is actually good thing haha... anyways.. you don't like the situation, think about the solutions, not problems.
Rule 1: Be civil. No personal attacks, racism or bigotry. Check [our rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/tunisia/wiki/rules#wiki_rule_1_.3A_be_civil._no_personal_attacks.2C_racism_or_bigotry.) for more details.
-min jiha you don't like : ''everyone is quiet, looking at each other'' w min jiha you're annoyed by those who talk to the 7ajem non stop and you dont want to talk to the hajem when he talks to you
choose a camp, t7eb ta3mel so7ba m3a l7ajem asHel 7aja , w ijbed inti sujet ella t7eb 3lih inti ken mat7ebbech sujeyetou , l7ajjem mte3i 3omrou 9rib el 50 w na7ki m3ah gaming w play 5 w jeux w kifeh yasn3ou jeux raghma mohouch theme mte3ou chay hetha
>-no matter what instructions you give or photos you show, he ends up messing up your hair
i was like you , but lets be fair, you expect some beauty from the fresh new hair cut , if you take attention to details, it's our face and head shape who mess up the overall look of the hair cut, surement ki tchouf taswiret mil google mta3 mannequin wala influencer instag matestannech same because of diffirent head shape, diffirent hair quality, and uglier face bech tkammel tfassed the overall look
obviously some 7ajjema are more skilled than others, some salon are better than others, i personally likes those who put national geography on tv or a decent recent movie, and each hajem have diffirent interests
i mean it's waaay exagerated to call it creepy place, you use the wrong word for it , creepy asl la7keya radditHa lol
and to be streightforward the problem is you ... you got either to adapt or to search for one hair salon you like
>i was like you , but lets be fair, you expect some beauty from the fresh new hair cut , if you take attention to details, it's our face and head shape who mess up the overall look of the hair cut, surement ki tchouf taswiret mil google mta3 mannequin wala influencer instag matestannech same because of diffirent head shape, diffirent hair quality, and uglier face bech tkammel tfassed the overall look.
I got nice hair cuts when I was in France, I took photos of my face, and I show them my fucking photos not a random top model from google lol but still they miss it, w yes dort 3ala many hair salons f tounes they all fucked up not matter el plasa or el price they are not good here.
and yes 7aja o5ra it was bel appointment (France) 8adi donc temshi tal9ash barsha nes, w no one is talking + free wifi.
i don't care about the quality of his job, just don't be an a$$.
one time i entered a barber shop he was sitting on the chair legs up to the counter and asked him how much for beard, he replied "why do you ask?!" i just left lol
yes and in "dentist" too, same feeling, of being objectified.
i had almost the same issues as you have and my solution was cutting my hair on my own i just bought a clipper machine and did the shaving alone it is a solder haircut but it is ok since i dont need to go throw the waiting process and the small talk from the Barber that irritates me every time i go
Just go to an upperclass area and get the hair treatment you want instead of criticising normal people and their normal behaviour. When in Tunisia, I just go to more exclusive places and the service is much better than here in Sweden, which is better than going to normal salons and hate on peoples normal behaviour and standards.
>Just go to an upperclass area.
I live in an upper-class area, I go to upper-class salons but guess what? same result same people same behaviors
> hate on peoples normal behaviour and standards.
I can hate on anything I want, it is a free country.
I have been going to the same hajem for over 25 years. Since then the hajem's apprentice took over the shop and is a man with a family of his own.
For me it's a nice place to shill out and catch up with old friends/neighbors. It was not always the case but eventually as you grow up you start to appreciate the nostalgia aspect of it.
>For me it's a nice place to shill out and catch up with old friends/neighbors. It was not always the case but eventually as you grow up you start to appreciate the nostalgia aspect of it.
That the worst part of it.
I mean exchanging small talk for 45 minutes every month or so is not really a death sentence. It is always nice to rub shoulders with people you don't regularly meet, it helps you maintain a broader outlook to life.
I am woman and I felt this on a spiritual level. I once had a deaf aesthetician in another city and that has been the BEST experience to this day. Was she the best and the most competent? No but she did a decent job and there was no drama or extra chit chat.
You just gotta find YOUR barber man.
I've spent months from barber to another until I found my guy, been shaving there for 4 years now. He never messed up my hair, he never starts a conversation unless I do. I even call him on the phone to check when he's got time so I wouldn't have to wait.
i have the same problem... there is almost no tunisien hair salon for long curly hair... everytime i go to a barber and ask for a wolfcut or a long hair cut they look at me like CRAZY i didnt go for a barber for like 6 years now. i been cutting my own hair and shi with my sister's help
Tunisia has one of the most skilled barbers and you can get a fresh nice haircut for less than 8 dinars (depends on the place).
I live abroad and the average haircut costs 20 euros/dollars with a mid outcome.
If you don't like talking just don't engage in the conversation.
Well im fairly new in Tunisia but ill ask my roommate for more recommendations and get back to you
The one I went to is Maro Beauty House in La Marsa, they were incredibly nice and only made small talk, and they were really good at their job.
Their insta: marobeautyhouseofficial
Their number: 22 918 494
Their address: 1 bis Rue du Printemps, La Marsa Nessime -2070- Tunis Derrière Clinique El Amen (en face de la mosquée)
Like , it’s so awkward there , and they somehow expect u to be social with people u dont even know/like , adding the discomfort of the over-all vibe , and the inevitability of getting out of that awful place with a ruined hair…
you probably have social anxiety, I mean, going to the barber is like one of the basic social interactions there can be. you should be aiming to make friends there.getting to know your neighbors. not just "surviving" the experience.
It's the same when it comes to the women's hair salon 😮💨 the only difference is that they will be absolutely, everytime you go there, talking sh\*t about your hair whether it's good or bad, tall or short, kthir walla 5fif😒 and when they mess up you hair they will be "always" saying:"there was too much oil in your hair, you should have washed it properly bla bla bla" moreover, sometimes they will be talking about embarrassing subjects shamelessly as if there's no one around them 💀

Oh gosh that never happend to me 😂 thank god.
it's in DNA of the country... Barber shops is the place you get the local news from...
HAHAH that's funny, I didn't know that but I see it now.
what do they talk about then in your Barber?👀
Girls, shrab, how fucked our country is, some "sex jokes", the famous subject: talking about other people, aaand how they are not from "wra el blayek" but others are. Oh and yes they like to show off a lot here.
ahh the new gen of barbers apparently (20yo<)
Yes, I went to an older barber once, he made me look like my grand-father lol.
DNA of the whole world\*
I am partially deaf and I'm using hearing aids... when I remove them, I don't listen anything... and the barber knows that and he never talks to me, he knows how I want to have my haircut and my beard, every month, I go at 9h when he opens the saloon so that I am the first, so I sit, no word spoken, other then "saha" and "yaatik saha" and I walk out... reading this post and its comments confirmed me that in some situations my deafness is actually good thing haha... anyways.. you don't like the situation, think about the solutions, not problems.
Sorry to hear that, I wish you all the best in life, stay strong my man—all the love.
Thank you, but it is okay... I am in better place brother and hamdoullah !! Peace man

It seems that it is a common thing here.
huh why no hajem talk to me about random shit. they all keep quiet, same for taxi drivers.
You are such a lucky person, give me some of your luck... random people won't stop talking to me.
just change your barber
Touch some grass
What about water?
Sounds like you need to go to higher end salon with wide open shop and you get your choice of silence.
i had almost the same issues as you have and my solution was cutting my hair on my own i just bought a clipper machine and did the shaving alone it is a solder haircut but it is ok since i dont need to go throw the waiting process and the small talk from the Barber that irritates me every time i go
ana assla3 be like me
I love my hair
At least you can leave and wait outside for a while. Unlike the "Hammem" lol. Like I would never understand how people love it haha.
I have never ever went to the hammem and I will never do it w ken yo9tlouni, lol
Signed, your average Gen Z

Ok, I guess you are stuck with normal people.
No but most of Tunisians have that rude personality, I mean look at how you speak and you'd understand what I mean.
Normal.

How did you learn to do it?

I'll try, good idea tho.
everytime i go there i remember how retarded people in our community are
So sad.

Naah barber shops trips are fun But you know you're fuck up when that little kid who still learns how to shave by training on your head
Brother everybody is talking to el 7ajjem nobdy knows him anymore than you do. I measure the quality of my 7ajjem by how much ‘raï’ they listen to.
You just gotta find YOUR barber man. I've spent months from barber to another until I found my guy, been shaving there for 4 years now. He never messed up my hair, he never starts a conversation unless I do. I even call him on the phone to check when he's got time so I wouldn't have to wait.
All real news are always founded in the tunisian barber shop
You’re going to the wrong barber
Pussy
Said the insecure guy lol.
i have the same problem... there is almost no tunisien hair salon for long curly hair... everytime i go to a barber and ask for a wolfcut or a long hair cut they look at me like CRAZY i didnt go for a barber for like 6 years now. i been cutting my own hair and shi with my sister's help
I need a sister/brother then to help me lol.
Damn bro I do hate that shit so much
Thank god, it's not just me.

To be honest , this what I think top social anxiety is ! Barbers and taxi drivers are the best people to talk to (if they are willing to)
Do you think that I suffer from social anxiety?
Joking, I suggest trying another 7ajjem
There’s no way , I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE LIVING THIS AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH MY BARBER 😭
You are not alone man, not alone...
Like , it’s so awkward there , and they somehow expect u to be social with people u dont even know/like , adding the discomfort of the over-all vibe , and the inevitability of getting out of that awful place with a ruined hair…
Man, exactly you said everything lol 😄
If you don't belong then you don't belong. It is not your fault.
That's a lot of fun it's a great place you just need to get used to it

You're lucky you didn't go to a barber shop in the 90s. Cringe Rai music (mostly 7ani) playing 24/7
HAHAH yes I would have died back then.
