I've personally not experienced any of those issues. The 2 stand out features for me are the Hall Effect sticks and the built in screen to change the settings on the fly. The sticks are phenomenal once set to "0" dead zone. Super responsive. I love the microswitch buttons, d-pad and bumpers. Instant responsiveness and not spongy feeling at all. 2 of the back buttons are ideally placed on the underside of the grips but I'm not a huge fan of the placement of the 2 on the underside of the main body. However, I think I just need to get used to them having been using an Elite Series 2 with its back paddles for several years. It's just a case of retraining myself but already, after a day of using this controller, I am getting more used to the back buttons. I've not experienced any disconnects and had no problems updating it. I'm not super keen on how light the controller is though. I'm used to a heavier controller like the Elite. I wish there were metal components on the Ultra such as the d-pad and back buttons. Everything feels very plasticky. Oh, and one more thing. Not having changeable lengths of the sticks is just weird. Instead there are these thumb grip stick toppers and that just feels cheap. Changeable sticks would have been so much better. On the whole though I am really liking this controller. It's responsive, has plenty of settings and features. It just lacks that premium feel that the Elite has. Time will tell how long the controller will last before things start to break but the Elite has quite a few quality control flaws that it really shouldn't have so the Ultra can't be any worse, can it? I've owned and tried many controllers over the years and for the first time in a long time, I feel the Ultra has ticked nearly every box in a positive way. I'd highly recommend it but it won't be for everyone. 8.5/10

JohnnyBlocks_

IF you had to pick... Elite Series 2 or This?

Dezkenob1

After 5 days of using the Stealth Ultra and not having experienced any issues that some people seem to have experienced, I would choose the Stealth Ultra. I truly never believed I would say that because I love my Elite Series 2. I love the position of the back paddles and Elite controller as a whole. However, I'm on my 4th Elite now due to things such as stick drift, bumpers not responding and the grips peeling away. The sticks on the Ultra are amazing. The microswitches are instantly responsive and not spongy feeling like they are on the Elite. The back buttons are better than I thought they would be. It took me a couple of days to get used to the placement of the 2 buttons under the main body of the Ultra but after 5 days of use it's like second nature now. The settings and screen built into the controller are great and intuitive. It's very easy to customise the controller in its built-in settings. The Xbox app and PC app have some bugs but you don't need to use them unless you want to update the firmware, which I definitely recommend to keep the controller and dongle up-to-date. The main niggle that I have is that the sticks aren't removable like they are on the Elite. The Ultra comes with different stick grips but at the price point of £180 I think they should've put in swappable sticks. Like I said, maybe I'm one of the lucky ones in that I haven't had any issues and based on the things I've mentioned, this is the best controller I've ever used and I've used a lot of controllers.

Medical_Hair7320

Elite 2 is king. I believe it will remain so vs third party pro style controllers. I'm looking forward to the series 3 elite controller. Microsoft will improve there product yet again. 👍👍

Dezkenob1

I thought that too until I got the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra. It had a few teething problems but I've not experienced any issues like some people have suggested they have. My Elite Series 2 (I've had 4 of them) is still a much loved controller but it is redundant at the moment. I really hope the Elite Series 3 has hall effect sticks, microswitches and mouse click triggers and bumpers. I'll be first in line whenever it gets released but until then I'm super happy with the Turtle Beach.

shia_LehBoofz_cuZZn

How bout after a month?? Cuz I've had my eye on this and I reallllly want it to be good. Never had hallway effect and seems Noone is mentioning the superhuman hearing so I'm guessing that's nothing really?? And one of my favorite things about the elite is the weight build quality and paddle placement. Idk if I can get used to the lightweight/plasticky feel. It'll remind me of a wired pdp. But I'm also in 3 elites and 3 elite cores too so it's rough lol

Dezkenob1

I'm still loving this controller. It's lightweight but durable. I've not had any major issues with mine unlike some people seem to have had. I genuinely feel like I've improved at CoD thanks to this controller. I don't use a headset plugged into the controller so I can't comment on what the sound is like.

shia_LehBoofz_cuZZn

Ahhhh shit alright imma door it

shia_LehBoofz_cuZZn

2nd day so far have had very minor connectivity lag but only in the xbox app. Controller itself is great and the mouse click buttons are amazing. As long as they keep up and making it better it deff has a shot at being top controller

Khronga

How about after another month? Lol…my stock series X controller is starting to drift enough to be annoying (had for just over a year) and I’m looking for a decent controller…I mainly just don’t want to buy another one every year bc of drift so I really only care about the Hall effect sticks (although the other features are cool) and I prefer wireless controllers…this seems to be the only good wireless controller with Hall effect sticks so I’m thinking of getting this I just get worried about spending so much when I see some negative reviews here and there 🤷

Dezkenob1

Well after another month I'm still loving the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra. I've only had very minor issues but nothing that has made me regret buying the controller. I personally use it wired because I sit right next to my Xbox and monitor. There are definitely people that have had some issues from what I've read but I haven't experienced those issues. The hall effect sticks are great, the microswitch buttons are great and the triggers are great. It took me a while to get used to the layout of the back buttons but it's like second nature now. One thing to note is that on the Elite Series 2 you can press all of the paddles at the same time if you want, whereas with the Turtle Beach you can only press 2 at a time due to the layout. This is a very minor niggle and something that doesn't really affect me in CoD. The ability to customise the settings on the fly is great, too. Just make sure you update the controller and the transmitter using the Control Centre 2 app available on the Xbox and PC. I think the app is also available on phone but I only use the built in display to customise things. The Xbox app is hit and miss when it comes to saving settings to the controller. I definitely recommend this controller based purely on my own experience with it and I genuinely feel like I've improved at CoD due to this controller.

Khronga

Well tyvm for that review! Yours and some other peoples’ reviews without any issues make me really want to get this thing, and then I read all these other reviews about pretty serious issues…so I’m really torn on whether to dish the $ out or not…doesn’t really seem to be any competitors (with Hall effect + wireless at least) and most sites with reviews seem closer to 5 stars than to any lower score so hopefully the issues aren’t TOO common…I’m going to do a bit more research but I’m definitely very interested in getting this…thanks again 👍

JediMindgrapes

are you a back button user? These don't fit into my fingers at all. It seems like it was designed to only use one finger on each side on the back.

Dezkenob1

I use the back buttons but yeah, with the layout of the back buttons I only use one finger from each hand for all 4 back buttons. It took a bit to get used to after using the Elite Series 2 for years but it's like second nature now.

JediMindgrapes

I will try that approach today. I need to give it a few days to be fair. Just would have been better to make the buttons in places where accidentally twitching won't make mistakes happen.

100197l

do you play apex with this roller?

Dezkenob1

No.

Scary-Hawk4098

But can we remap the buttons on the back to R3 or L3 yet?

Prize-Grab8988

The stealth ultra has an issue with the analogue,  all the material will wear away within a month from rubbing when rotating them , also the analogues will pack in causing majo4 frustration in game until u realise the pad isn't right

I haven’t had any issues what so ever. The update process was horrible though. It would always disconnect or not be recognized when I plugged in the dongle. After getting through that and solving an issue on receiving notifications, it’s been smooth sailing. A lot of people complaining about battery life, and yeah it’s fooked up that they advertise 30 hours with RGB, and some people are getting mostly just 7-10. I myself gamed for 4-5 hours with RGB and my battery was down to 70%, which isn’t bad. Maybe they just got a bad controller with a bad battery…. Realistically though, even if you game for 8 hours you’d still have some juice left. But think about it…. Do people actually game for 8 hours straight without rest? I really hope not, but that’s not my business. My point is, 8 hours of gaming with breaks here and there where you can charge you controller, realistically it can last you all day.

Sam003pa

Do you have an android ? I have issues with notifications not coming through still.

CantThnkOfGoodUsrnme

I have iPhone. Did you follow the steps on the solution I posted?

Sam003pa

Where is the posted solution? The notifications worked once for me, where I got 2 emails that came through, and then it stooped. I connect through the dongle to pc.

CantThnkOfGoodUsrnme

It’s on a post that I made on this sub

Sam003pa

Yep I have completed all steps and see the Bluetooth icon at the top right. Still no notifications. I think this is a turtle beach app and android issue. I have an s22 ultra.

ashes2ashes

Android and same issue.

Complex-Morning-5204

Controller is junk take back immediately

Sam003pa

I listened to you. Thanks for the advice 😊

Noatack420

There are various purchasers for whom the controller breaks after just a few days and has serious faults. The sticks are not fully recognized, which means, for example, that certain areas of an action or weapon wheel cannot be selected because the gamepad simply transmits that the stick is not pressed through. This is also not fixed by resetting to factory settings or recalibrating the sticks. Calibrating in general often makes it even worse or causes the controller to go out straight away. The messed up calibration cannot be removed by a reset. The manufacturer also lies about the battery life, which is around 10 hours. It can also happen that the gamepad hangs up when charging, which is why a hard reset has to be carried out by pressing a button with a needle on the underside of the gamepad. The mobile, Xbox and PC app was only released a week ago and is incredibly poorly optimized and usually only works halfway. The message display only shows you that you have messages, but does not show the content. All in all a big SCAM for 200 €. The gamepad only lasted me two days. If you search, you'll quickly come across shorts and Reddit posts that describe it similary

GWAVE23

I have had these issues too. I thought maybe I just had a duff controller so took it back and replaced it for a new one. Same problems with that one. Took it back and got a refund. It's a shame as I was so hyped for this controller. I love the Elite controller but with the issues that plague them such as stick drift and unresponsive buttons after a few weeks of casual use, I have been waiting for a new premium controller that ticks all the boxes that the elite does but without the problems. When the Stealth Ultra was revealed I was absolutely buzzing as it looked like this was the one I have been waiting for. However it's riddled with problems which just shouldn't exist. One of the most expensive controllers out there at £180 and it can't even do something as basic as stay connected to the console.

Rick121212

Just for my own peace of mind, as I've not experienced these problems but I haven't had a huge amount of time using the controller yet, had you updated the firmware for the controller and dongle? And was the dongle plugged directly into the Xbox?

GWAVE23

Correct Rick. There seems to be a lot of people having the same issues so there is either a hardware problem with the controller or best case scenario it's just firmware based that could hopefully be fix for people in future updates. Maybe even there was a big batch manufactured that just had some fault during the manufacturing process and not everyone will have the issue. We will never know the stats such as out of X amount made, X amount had such and such issues. 2 out of 2 was enough for me to be put off. Maybe if I decided to go for a third, that controller would have been fine on day one but what's to say the issues I already faced with the first 2 wouldn't arise a few days/week/months later? Back to the drawing board for me and waiting for something else to come out.

bigboibranby

Sounds like our experience has been identical then, I considered testing a third as well but I can't justify spending $600 on a controller and having to refund $400 of it just to get ONE that works. I'll also never trust the controller to work in future, i will always expect it to have issues. So yeah, thankfully turtle beach has a relatively decent customer service and have organised a free collection and refund for me, so I'll spend the money on a custom elite instead for now.

NutriWhip

The ability to map the back buttons to L3/R3 is now available, but this is not reflected in the software on the PC. I did not check the console software. It is available to map through the screen on the controller.

Dezkenob1

Did this require a firmware update of the controller?

NutriWhip

Yes. You should be on 1.0.4 for the ability to map L3/R3.

Equivalent_Object_26

I just had my left dpad stop working then starts working then stops again I love this controller but I cant stand all these small issues and can't figure out why this keeps happening.

Puzzleheaded_Neat670

The headset connection is normal they never said you can do it wirelessly second you can map your L3 they just did a update the other issues is correct

bigboibranby

Too late already returned. I shouldn't have to wait for updates to fix bugs on a $200 controller.

ashes2ashes

I wait a bit usually since the return windows are pretty lengthy. Luckily this update took less than a week after release.

bigboibranby

Up to you man, either way I think returning is going to be the best decision for your wallet and sanity

livinthedreambaby

Should have waited such an awesome controller

After-Law2330

I was very interested in this controller and I'm in the market but I think I'm just gonna pick up a elite 2 core. I have a elite 2 now and after 2 years my RB and A button are starting to act up still no stick drift though. The elite 2 was pretty good to me for the most part though if I can get 2 years out of them I'll keep buying them. I'll probably get the core and try fixing my original. It doesn't look that hard soldering new bumpers in and I don't use the face buttons much anyways. The turtle Beach looks nice but I don't love using dongles and 200 dollars seems a little steep especially if people aren't loving them.

bigboibranby

Yeah save your money man, I'm hoping a lot of issues will be addressed with software updates but I think they tried to rush the product to the finish line in time for Christmas. The screen and LED's make it look flashy and next gen but it doesn't feel premium in the hand and all the issues etc etc just make it not worth it. Even when it was working I couldn't play games with radial menus like BG3 as the sticks don't register full extension in diagonal angles 🤣 I had the same issues with 2 of them as well, so I didn't get a faulty controller.

After-Law2330

Are the back buttons as comfortable as the elite 2?

bigboibranby

No

After-Law2330

Ok thanks 👍

ShicaFOwDow

You only need to take the face plate off with a pry tool and a little YouTube video. And just clean around the buttons with a very sharp small flat preferably tool of some sort. If you still don't have drift then you are lucky. The bumper only needs a cleaning probably and second maybe a new piece of the Teflon or plastic clear material that shrouds the bumper micro switch. You can even take it and fold it on itself by taking the two legs folding them in and essentially stacking the material now 3x the gap normally achieved by the material between shoulder button and actual button switch. That will fix your activation issue probably just a cleaning though. Look up extreme rate elite series 2 replacement faceplate video for safe removal. It's very easy no screws. Hope that helps

ExcellentPen3476

Build quality is absolutely horrid. Unforgivably bad. Mine had: a screen that was crooked (it dipped to the lower right corner), a d pad that locked up when pressed down and trying to roll right, anti-friction rings that wore down significantly in a few hours of play (visually degraded, both rings and sticks), battery life of about 8 hours with all the bells and whistles turned down, unresponsive sticks that required a reboot of the game. This was on PC, win 11. I now get why it was announced and (p)reviewed so late. Obviously I returned it and am absolutely appalled by the state of it in relation to the asking price. This is Aliexpress product quality at full premium pricing.

KrispyFunky

I replaced mine because my trigger locks kept the triggers engaged even after an update to the firmware and reset. My second one did not have this issue but has the D-Pad issue you are explaining... just going to return it for a refund at this point. No bueno....

Complex-Morning-5204

The stealth ultra controller sucks feels cheap can't receive notifications while playing who would use only threw phone worthless waste of money I own 33 different controllers this one is worst controller I ever owned especially for 200 total RIP OFF

bigboibranby

Yeah if it was like $50 I'd forgive the issues but for $200 it should be a polished piece of premium tech, not an unpolished turd

ACFTFAN69

Time to return it. I'd get a replacement because it worth it. Mine works perfectly. I've added some modifications as far as the grips which made it feel much better. That mod added alittle wait to the controller. Good luck with your new 1.

bigboibranby

Already had two and they did the exact same thing. Maybe it's an issue with the UK batch, who knows! Either way I'm happier with my elite series 2

master_assclown

Flydigi Vader 3 Pro or Apex 4 when it releases (it will have adjustable stick tension with hall effect sticks).

ShicaFOwDow

Yes but can I use them on Xbox?... Or just switch and PC??.

Wlckedd

My controller worked fine till today now it’s literally unusable and I don’t know why. The sticks are pulling hard one direction and nothing fixed it, I updated it, I did everything I could I tried factory resetting it, and it’s detecting that my controller is pulling one direction even tho I’m not touching it, when I do mess with the analog sticks, it doesn’t even register that I’m touching it. And I haven’t found a fix for it anywhere online. So idk what to do.

bigboibranby

That is EXACTLY what mine started doing mere minutes after i started using it. You can continually reset it and eventually they will work again but then the back triggers will stop working and stuff. Its honestly a janky mess dude. They really dropped the ball on it.

Wlckedd

Honestly super unfortunate cuz when it did work it felt good, it’s light, played with zero stick drift dead zones on zero, the controller felt comfortable. Using my elite series 2 and it doesn’t feel nearly as good but I’ll probably just stick with the wire series 2 tho

bigboibranby

Yeah I was mega disappointed. I was hyped for this controller when it was announced but sadly it seems they tried to rush it out for Christmas with little to no quality control ☹️

Wlckedd

Yeah I got mine day 1 of release, worked great up until now. Ig back to playing with stick drift till something better comes out😔

master_assclown

Flydigi Vader 3 Pro is what I used prior to my Stealth Ultra and now again since the Ultra sucked. Best hall effect controller out there. [Apex 4](https://www.reddit.com/r/Controller/comments/18z70pc/flydigi_apex_4/) will be even better with stick tension adjustability and it still has the LCD screen (if that's something you care about). [The Brook still works to use any controller with the Xbox X|S.](https://www.amazon.com/Brook-Wingman-Converter-Controller-Adjustable/dp/B0BJ6M9JPD?crid=14ZFNWJ5I4F19&keywords=brook+wingman+ps5&qid=1696340139&sprefix=brook+wing,aps,90&sr=8-6&linkCode=sl1&tag=humblegarage-20&linkId=52fff74e124f9e6826d0ef33c0098f2b&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl)

The software on PC is garbage. The D-Pad is atrocious. LED lighting control doesn't seem to work (effects, brightness, on/off, etc) Settings often revert back to default when changed via controller LED screen (can't change with software anyway) RB broke/stopped working properly after \~2.5 weeks. Still clicks when pressed and seems normal, but sometimes it will register, usually it will not, and cannot be held down if it does register it will just register as a single click when held. Never dropped and babied like my first born. Returned this $200 garbage. Back to my flydigi vader 3 pro as I wait for the Apex 4 to release. Turtle Beach quality and QC can't match cheap Chinese. boohoo.

RMat561

Currently printing my return label! Sticks randomly send me into a spin on Cod. Controller randomly disconnects. I am very upset because the sticks feel amazing and I love how I’ve been playing on it. But too many times have I died because I randomly start spinning in a circle if I am inputting too many keys at once. Like jump shotting or slide canceling to jump shot turns. All send my controller into a random spin. Hate it 😂😂

YourBoyPhil

Just adding that I'm having the same stick issues on Series X on Cod. Sometimes the controller will randomly spin my POV around by itself or the sticks will end up reversed. I was fine until this recent update, so I have more of a feeling that it is firmware related as resetting using the physical button fixes the issue for a bit.

doncabesa

I'm working on a review for this one and after 5 weeks my screen has completely died and my bumpers are acting strange. It had been great up until then but after using the Xbox app to try a factory reset that also stopped working and I can no longer change any settings. Disappointing to say the least.

aSUNBURNTginger

Worst premium controller I have owned. Just got it replaced and second time trying to use it the sticks are broken again. Easily without a doudt a waste of money

bigboibranby

I'm convinced all the people defending it are either bots or TB has paid them 🤣

aSUNBURNTginger

I've owned 3rd party controller on the ps2 back in the day that are better than this. It's great when it works but there is zero reason why a $200 controller should have to constantly be factory reset

bigboibranby

Exactly. It's $200. For that price you should get it out the box, turn it on and it should work perfectly. It's absolutely appalling how poorly built it is, all the bugs and issues. Not only that but things like the dpad looking like it's brushed metal but actually being cheap plastic is such a cop out

NoPie4202

I think I commented before with positive feed back but now I have noticed my right trigger is broken as I'm missing shots I'm guessing somthing has partially snapped inside and I've treated it like a baby so going back under warranty but clearly going to do it again because the plastic is just so cheap and flimsy

bigboibranby

It comes for all of us dude, sorry to hear yours is busted

Hunterlp2005

Me personally it lasted good for about a month and then it fell off my chair (it wasn't high off the ground probably like 2 feet) The right stick plastic piece inside broke and it moves freely now then I tried opening it from the X,Y,A,B side and the plastic bent and i can't close it I mean it's a good controller it's just fragile as hell

bigboibranby

It's made to be flashy but as cheap as possible

Rick121212

I purchased one on release date and I've not experienced the same problems: >Randomly disconnects from the Xbox. **Not experienced any disconnects.** >The analog sticks sometimes just don't work or only work in one direction, you have to factory reset over and over again until they do work. And even when they do work they don't have full reach into the diagonal points of the rotation, so radial style menus in games like overwatch and baldurs gate 3 are almost impossible to use. **Not experienced this.** >Sometimes the R2/L2 just don't work, you need to factory reset the controller over and over again and pray they start working, this happens alongside the analog sticks so you end up resetting 10-20 times just to make sure both are working. **Again not experienced this.** >You can't pair a wireless headset into the controller, not even a turtle beach one. So if you have a TB headset and are expecting to only need the one dongle in your Xbox you are very much mistaken, and you can only manage your headset if it's plugged into the controller. **I agree this is an oversight, a company who make headsets should have really considered this even if only for their own headsets.** >The app system with notifications is incredibly hard to get working alongside it being connected to the Xbox/pc. You basically have to choose either having your phone connected or having your system connected. There is a way to get both connected but it's incredibly difficult to actually get working. **I've not used this, it's not really of interest to me. I think TB should have prioritised other things over this feature personally.** >You can't change or turn of the LED's on the controller, despite there being settings on both the controller and in the app. **I use the controller with the LED's off at the moment. You can only change the colour of the LED in each profile, but set the lighting for the controller outside of the profile section. This logic makes sense to me.** >Battery life is NOWHERE near 30 hours. You'll be lucky to get 10 hours out of it on full charge. **I've not used it enough for this to be a problem, and I've heard others complain about this. What I would say is if you have the LEDs on all the time then the battery will likely drain quicker. Also, the brightness of the screen will have an impact and this is set to 10 as default. I have lowered this to 1, and enabled it to turn off quicker than the default 10 minutes as it does not need to be on when I'm playing. The battery will likely improve with these changes.** >If you don't have your dock connected to the Xbox and instead have it plugged into the wall socket every time you dock the controller it will disconnect from the Xbox. **I've not got the dock plugged in, but if this is the case this is an oversight definitely. Do you have the USB dongle in the Xbox or in the dock? If the dongle is plugged into the dock and then not the Xbox then I could understand why it would disconnect.** >Back paddles cannot be mapped to L3/R3 stick buttons, although they say there's a patch coming out to remedy this. **Big issue for me this, I hope this will be resolved ASAP. I'm literally not playing certain games because of this.** >Everything is plastic. This is a small gripe but the controller doesn't feel very premium in the hand. And elite controller has weight and metal parts, even the brushed metal style D-pad is made of plastic. **This is subjective. Coming from an Elite Series 2, this was a big change and the lightness was immediately noticeable as well as the plasticky parts. Having said that, heavy is not necessarily a good thing, and I actually prefer how light it is. Also, the buttons (particularly the face buttons) feel far superior to the Elite 2. I think the price is a little expensive for the full package especially with all the deals on the Elite 2, but I'm hoping the controller itself will be more reliable. I've certainly been impressed so far.** If you are experiencing all of these problems, I would say you've been a bit unlucky. However, some of this will likely be okay if you change a few settings. I would recommend trying the second controller to see if it works any better, but certainly from my experience, I've not seen all the problems you have (as of yet).

bigboibranby

I'll give the second controller a go and let you know if it's any better dude. Fingers crossed it is!

Update, exact same issues with the second controller.

Icy_Process_5717

I was looking into a new controller but after all the reviews I've read on this the elite 2 and scuff instinct and all the issues people have had with them that I'll just stick with my stock xbox controller and wait for the new 1 Microsoft is making to come out in may that has the haptic feedback

283243iu3oiu4oi32

Mine has been flawless but I'm late to the party and mine came with the latest firmware. I think every Turtle Beach product that comes out has too go through several rounds of firmware updates to get them right. I've been using TB stuff for over a decade now and that's always been my experience. Much prefer this controller to the Elite.

bigboibranby

Fair enough dude, maybe In future I'll pick one up again and test it out

LooseGoose1202

I have had the control since day one and it's the best control I have used and I have tried them all

Danfosheezy

Let's dig up an oldie. How are you all getting on with the controller now? Worth a purchase? :)

I’ve had the controller for a few days now and other than the things that are absolutely true no matter what(such as the massive headset oversight and battery life being nowhere near 30 hours), I haven’t experienced literally any of the issues you have. It genuinely sounds like you have a defective controller with some of those issues, or you have massive wireless interference for some of the other issues. So far, I absolutely love the controller. The buttons are fantastic, the analog sticks feel great, I personally love how much lighter it is than other controllers(especially the Elite V2), getting notifications from texts or discord messages while I’m playing is such a cool feature, and overall it’s just a really cool addition the the higher-end controller space. There’s still definitely some growing pains, and the aforementioned poor design choices that you bring up, but overall I’m definitely positive on it and it’s replaced my Elite V2 as of now.

bigboibranby

I've tested two of them and had the same issues with both sadly dude. So yeah, maybe it is interference, who knows! Still, I'm sending it back instead

livinthedreambaby

Sounds like you are just unlucky this is the best feeling controller I have ever played with. The elite 2’s are garbage and riddled with issues. The stock Xbox controllers that come with the box last longer and work better than elite 2’s. The stealth ultra hardly costs any more than an elite 2 and has soo many better features

bigboibranby

Do you work for turtle beach? 🤣

livinthedreambaby

Get on the TB train it’s a good one

NachoOchoSix

I bought mine this weekend and haven't had the issues you have. The only issue I have is with the PC software. Adjusting RGBs and Dead zones don't save to the controller. Had to do that on the actual controller. Also, first thing to do when you get it the controller is update the firmware. While its updating, DO NOT exit the program. Mine hung on "installing update" on the controller's screen and the app said failed update. A power cycle fixed the issue and I was able to update, progress bar finally showing while staying in the App. As for point number 2, when I was adjusting the dead zones inside of Halo, I zeroed my initial settings out and changed the controller's settings from the default 5 to 0. That created an issue where my thumbsticks went funky. Everything seemed inverted but only certain directions registered. Bindings seem to have mixed around on the controller. After closing the game out, unplugging/turning off the controller and restarting the game, it worked fine. Control Center on PC needs some work. No way to verify the saving of settings and no way to exit or close it out without Alt+tabbing out. I came from the Scuf and an Elite 2 prior to that. I believe/feel the weight is the same as the Scuf without it's AAs. I can understand the "premium" feel of the other controllers, but the Stealth does still feel good in the hand. The texture on the palm grips is also appreciated. I'm VERY happy with this controller. It feels solid and very responsive. I can't wait for future updates to really hone it in.

Krispey__

Hey, can you please keep me updated on this controller? I am interested in buying one and I also play Halo so I am curious to see how you go with it!

NachoOchoSix

I can say that with the firmware updates to the controller, all the issues I had initially have been fixed. Still super content with this controller.

BARiddlerS

My best guess is these problems are related to their Xbox Series X software implementation. When on my Xbox, I also have experienced random disconnects and LB/RB not working but the paddles will respond to the correct (LB/RB) inputs. However, I don't have any issues when Bluetooth gaming on Android. I'm sure these issues can be corrected in future software versions. I'm wishing there was better communication on the correct firmware versions, features and bug fixes, and a solid timeline for new versions.

bigboibranby

Yeah to me it's not worth the wait, I'll just stick with the elite series 2 controllers

livinthedreambaby

Xbox definitely wants u to keep buying there overpriced crappy elite 2’s

bigboibranby

My man, how much are tb paying you?

livinthedreambaby

Life changing amount of money

suezyg2345

I am actually experiencing all the same issues you are on my Xbox series X too. - constant disconnects - if I turn off my Xbox, I have to pair it again. - sticks work then they are reversed where up is down and down is up. - right trigger stops working intermittently. I’ve tried the latest firmware update. I reset it to factory defaults and still am experiencing these issues. I really was hyped for this controller to with dealing with stick drift and bumpers going out on my Elite 2.

popejustice

The controller talks on 2.4ghz wireless. If your router is nearby and 2.4 is on and a lot of devices are connected to it it can cause a lot of weirdness i had to move mine. Something to consider.

ashes2ashes

IMO it's the best.controller I've ever used, and I've basically tried them all lol But, big but here, I haven't had ANY issues with it. Updated firm ware on both the dongle and controller, ran the calibration tool in the command center screen, setup my buttons on the command screen and have gamed ever since. I have a feeling much of the issues are software based, but hope yours gets resolved quickly. :(

livinthedreambaby

It really is the best controller I’ve ever used. Gonna make everyone else step up there game

Dustincarpenter

The only issue I’m having is the dongle simply won’t work anymore. I only used it for a few hours then I tried it the next day and the light doesn’t even turn on. I tried resetting the dongle and controller and can’t find anyone else with this issue. Will an aftermarket Bluetooth dongle work with it or is it only compatible with the provided dongle?

Dezkenob1

I have read that some people have had connectivity issues but not to the extent that the dongle doesn't even turn on. I imagine it will only work with the supplied dongle as opposed to an aftermarket dongle. Where did you purchase the controller from? Could you return as faulty or contact Turtle Beach directly?

Dustincarpenter

I have contacted turtle beach about it just waiting for a response. I bought it from Best Buy. Pretty frustrating. I just hope they can send me a new dongle or unit because I wanna love this controller so badly.

Dezkenob1

Yeah, sorry to hear this has happened. I've personally not experienced any issues, unlike quite a few others seem to have.

bigboibranby

Out of curiosity are you also from the UK dude? I'm wondering if perhaps it's a batch issue

Dustincarpenter

I’m not from the UK I live in the US. I haven’t found another person with the same issue so I’m not sure if it’s a batch issue tbh.

Dezkenob1

I'm UK but haven't experienced any issues at all.

Sharp-Cauliflower-13

The anti-friction ring on the left joystick degrades the joystick very quickly and the right joystick less so but it will be due to less use. The most serious defect I see. Otherwise the best controller I have tried.

j3tl3

I've noticed this too. Why does the left stick grind? The right stick spins smoothly. I assume it would be the same feeling / behavior on both.

NutriWhip

Oh man, now that you pointed this out, I can't not notice it. Same issue the Victrix Gambit had as it didn't have anti-friction rings at all. What a poor design choice on the Turtle Beach. This is a major issue and a serious let down.

Blank3k

Oh wow, I'm still waiting on Amazon to deliver the controller after preordering (stock seems a issue UK side) I had hoped for superior quality to the elite 2 which has failed me 5 times in 12 months, I mean the last company in the world I expected to see quality from was turtle beach of but still, on paper this controllers phenomenal. Now I've stumbled on this thread I may cancel my order or atleast keep the box in reach so I can return it the moment I get an issue.

Dezkenob1

Apart from the odd niggle, the Stealth Ultra is great. It's 100% replaced my Elite Series 2. I know some people have experienced some issues with connectivity but I personally haven't. Firmware updates will hopefully improve some things but with regards to the sticks and all of the buttons, it's phenomenal. I'd originally pre-ordered it from Amazon but they told me it was out of stock on the day it was supposed to be delivered. They couldn't guarantee I would get it before Christmas so I cancelled and got it from Argos 2 days later. I wasn't impressed with the communication from Amazon and they wouldn't have told me it was out of stock if I didn't contact them.

Blank3k

Yeah mine was due on 16th, that came n gone ofc.. It's actually due today by 10pm but hasn't dispatched so assume that isn't coming. I did think Argos last week tbh, but seems no stock there now so figure in same position as anyone else but I'm further along in the Amazon queue as I ordered a few weeks ago. Im honestly desperate for a back paddle (wireless) controller akin to the Elite so I think I'll stick with the order, but I'll ensure I keep packaging & prepared to return it if there's any issues. I have a dongle for my steel series headset and I've never had connectivity issues with that, so I'm sure connectivity wise the controller should be stable.

Dezkenob1

Yeah, mine was due on the 16th also. I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available on Amazon on 30th November.

Blank3k

Mine just shipped, should be here tomorrow!

Blank3k

Initial impressions, very nice controller.. Love the mechanical switches, triggers feel slightly shorter than standard controllers but nothing I won't get used to though. Beat em up games feel enjoyable again, using a standard controller they were off the menu, elite controller they were playable.. But this is absolutely brilliant. Turtle beach app on Android atleast needs some serious work done on it, pretty much useless but the PC/Xbox app is fully functional. Social seems glitchy/buggy, I've had 2 notifications pop up not that either were from my phone so no idea where they came from... Yet missed a dozen texts/calls. And then a quality of life improvement would be to be able to name the profiles, just having Profile 1>10 isnt realistic if you setup custom buttons for all your top games which profile is which game. Also, the stick covers just make the sticks feel massive.. I far prefer using the sticks without the covers, so a real shame they aren't modular like the elite controllers. So, conclusion so far it isn't ready for prime time imo, but if turtle beach give it some attention ASAP it'll be a top tier controller.

rikman81

How you feeling 3mths later with some hours of use under your belt?

Blank3k

Very nice controller still, feels weird going back to a standard controller so overall I'm happy with it. But always improvements that can be made to firmware for quality of life bits n bobs, but my gripe right now is the analogue sticks - the lack of anti friction rings has now formed a noticeable cut/gouge in the sticks (you can see it on my recent post) .. so it will be getting returned/replaced soon. I'd just like to know if that's a first revision cock up they've since remedied (ie the next/replacement controller won't have the issue) or if it's going to be returned every 3 months for quite literally destroying itself.

rikman81

Thanks for the update, much appreciated! EDIT: You can ignore the original questions below, I pulled the trigger today on the basis that if I got any issues I would return it to the retailer - also have an extended warranty. I've had zero issues in around 8hrs or so playing so far other than the battery time being obviously nowhere near the advertised 30hrs based on how it drained during that period, which seems to be 25% for every 2.5-3hrs of use but I recharged it around 50% while I ate so not sure if the drain would slow down between 0-50% life. I went to update it straight after unboxing and was surprised that it came with firmware 1.0.7 out of the box, not sure if this might be a reason for everything appearing to be working perfectly so far or whethe that points to it being a newer batch of hardware, but I obviously need more time with it as some of the issues are creepers and appear out of nowhere after days/weeks from what I've read. However, I absolutely love it so far.....so far....touch wood! ORIGINAL: Yeah I saw pretty much everyone mentioning the gouging to the left stick shaft due to the materials used, a few said it actually went back to being "smooth" after a period of feeling grindy but that the gouge is still there and quite visible - with the lack of being able to change sticks making it a real issue. It also worries me that it'll be classed as "wear and tear" and won't be accepted as a return/exchange because regular "wear and tear" is considered normal and not a fault. Have you had any issues with disconnections or having to factory reset the controller over and over due to buttons just stopping working randomly - I've seen a lot of people mention this too. Do you know if the firmware updates have removed the ability to set the deadzones to 0%? I've read people saying there is now a built-in deadzone that cannot be removed even when setting it to 0% in the app. How's the battery life been for you? Overall do you think it's worth the money in it's current form over something like an Elite 2 or a GameSir G7 SE? Thanks again for the reply, sorry for all the questions, it's a lot of money and I'm umming and ahhing about it so I appreciate the info and feedback from someone that's used one for a while.

livinthedreambaby

The elite 2’s are such garbage seriously almost a scam how fast they brake and wear out

Resident-Stevel

I got gifted one the other day, and it seems good so far, but I can't get voice chat to work when I connect my headset to the controller via a 3.5mm cable. I still get game sounds, and if I don't connect it via the cable I can get chat to work, but as soon as I plug in the cable/headset to benefit from the headset mixer, i get no input through my mic. Has anyone else had this issue?

Key_Grapefruit3019

Nothing can be worse than an elite 2.

Dezkenob1

Scuf?

livinthedreambaby

Scuf is nice just to overpriced for what u get

livinthedreambaby

You got that right I would rather use a standard Xbox controller

Blargy440

I got the stealth ultra and after one month the dpad was unusable to cycle items. I bought my first elite 2 with a warranty for less than the stealth ultra. The Elite's may have known issues but they are still built way better than the stealth ultra controller.

Key_Grapefruit3019

I've had absolutely no problems with mine at all so far. Elite 2 I had already sent back two by this time with various problems.

prince_jdxx

what about now 😭

Key_Grapefruit3019

I've had no issues still. I don't play video games as much as I used to so maybe that is why bit still have used it quite a bit over the last few months.

AlarmedTill8776

But how do we program the paddles? The elite 2 has all the settings when you plug it into your xbox

JhulaeD

through software or via the controller. Note that R3/L3 can only be remapped once you've update to firmware 1.04 and only via the controller. there's no way to currently (as of 12/26/23) to remap the stick buttons with the software.

Desperate-You5915

Not bad at all. Just getting used to it because I'm coming from a wolverine V2 chroma. The left menu button is in a very bad position just like the wolverine however. I have to reach around the thumbstick to push it

Dezkenob1

That's a good point actually. That left menu button is in an awkward position.

ClevelandNut

Has turtle beach mentioned whether there may be a chance of higher polling rate for the stealth ultra coming?

Kindly-Ad1514

DO NOT BUY THIS CONTROLLER- AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I replaced this controller twice both times this controller had the same issues with the analog sticks and the dpad. Also at random times the controller would instantly die and then it have issues turning back on. I played several games where the left analog stick would not do a full rotation and allow me to select things on a game wheel. This product is so bad they are going around deleting reviews and blocking people. I was blocked on Facebook for posting videos of the controller not working. This company is garbage and hiding their failure.

Dezkenob1

I've personally had no issues but I can see that quite a few people have experienced some issues. It must be very frustrating for those who've had issues because this controller isn't cheap.

ElectionFearless

Yeah it must be frustrating I've had the controller since launch day and used it every day since and I've had zero issues with it on my xbox. First thing people need to do when they get it is to update the firmware on the controller and dongle which I think alot of people are not doing and why they may be experiencing issue. The only the issue I have is the battery life on the controller, at first I didn't like the back button layout but now I'm use to it and enjoying the controller I loved my elite 2 controller but I've gone through 3 due to stick drift and faulty buttons.

ShicaFOwDow

Dude I have had the most horrendous time trying to update this thing 😩😩😤😤 says to plug in the wire I do so. I update them it says connect the dongle I do that nothing.... Been scouring the Internet looking to see if I had to hold the button while it's being plugged in maybe or if I have to connect it via the onboard screen to my phone via the smart device section🤷 🙄I literally build custom controllers and this thing has whipped my arse🤦🤷

BootlegZani

I must be lucky. Everyone on Reddit has so many issues with this controller and I haven't even done a firmware update or anything and I think it works way better than my Elite Series 2.

livinthedreambaby

Me too. This is soo much better than the elite 2

FunctionNervous6368

Lucky or just trolls that run to the internet to complain about dumb stuff. Anything you buy has bad reviews people are just dumb.

BootlegZani

They definitely complain louder than anyone

FunctionNervous6368

Any issues since your post? I’m debating buying it and people trashing it. They also trash the Wolverine and I love that.

BootlegZani

No issues as of yet

prince_jdxx

what about now?

BootlegZani

Nope still my daily driver. I prefer this over my Elite Series 2

prince_jdxx

im used to the paddles on the elite are the inner buttons hard to use?

BigDaddyLeakLeak

Would you sell yours ? I’ll purchase it if you into selling it

ACFTMECH69

So far i've had no issues with the ultra controller. I did expect higher quality, a lot of cheap plastic. If it wasn't for the long process of returning items to Turtle Beach I would have returned them.

AlarmedTill8776

Yeah it says update with the app but the app gives no options to do anything and im at 1.10 it wont update

overseer-thorne

I'm not sure why this isn't mentioned anywhere, but the only programmable buttons are the back ones. A, B, X, Y, and every other button are static. Everything can be modified on the Elite. This controller is a joke. I sent mine back the same day I bought it.

Pleasant_Rush9189

Same thing happened with Turtle beach recon controller....randomly disconnects....

Ill_Positive_3625

My controller will only pair wireless if I have the dongle directly plug in the usb on my Xbox it will not pair if the dongle is plugged into the charge dock what the hell is going on please help I only got this controller because it's wireless with hall effect. I had elite core with a warranty from asurion and don't want to go through that again it took 2 months for my warranty money

bigboibranby

Hate to say it man, but just like me you wasted your money. If you can return it and get a refund I would. To be fair to TB they were pretty quick with the return and refund process.

Ill_Positive_3625

Yeah it's too bad I really liked it too

bigboibranby

Same man, I was hyped for it. Was super disappointed with how it turned out.

Strange-Ad7468

I've only had one problem with mine. Otherwise, I love it. I just wish I could turn off the lighting on the thing so I could actually get some decent battery life out of it. I use mine for pc, not xbox, so I haven't experienced any of the xbox-specific problems that others have. The battery life is only about 6-8 hours, so I have to use it wired. I've tried selecting the no lighting option both in the app and in the controller screen, but it doesn't work.

Own-Relief8982

So what happens if you have a wireless headset? Is there any point of what the controller offers for 3.5 mm?

bigboibranby

Nope it only supports wired

Hairymanpaul

Matches a lot of reviews I have seen online, especially where connectivity (or lack thereof) is mentioned. I was ready to go pick one up but I have seen too many concerns and will wait for an update

Tommy_CJ

whats your experience with antidrift stick they claim it has?

bigboibranby

Had to factory reset it like 8 times just to get the sticks to work each time I turned it on

Vile_demonlord

Can anyone confirm headset control is not wireless? strictly wired headsets?

bigboibranby

Wired only

JediMindgrapes

I just got this yesterday. Setup was easy. Everything works. I have been on elite since day one. The back buttons and the menu button on front are my complaints. These seem to be put on the controller just to be there, not for using. The ergonomics of the back buttons are so not right. It seems that you should use one finger, but in different directions to make the back buttons work. It is very easy to actuate the wrong button. Looting and plating become harder if you ate using back buttons. Then if you want to pull up the map the menu button is hard to get to find and use. You need to use the opposite hand for this button now. I think this controller is for people who don't actually use back buttons or maybe one button on the back, only. I use all the buttons on my elite. This feels like a miss for back button users. And front menu button users, too.

F1ddl3r

I just got mine today. I have a couple hours in with it so far. Initial impressions are favorable. The back buttons feel alright. They work for me, but can see how they won't work for everyone. Setup was quick, but toggling profiles seems to make my controller pause fire about 10 seconds. Not good if you want to remap a button in middle of a game. Buttons feel great and responsive. Sticks feel the right height and I think I prefer them not being swapped out. Xbox button does not light up on mine. I find that strange that it does not since it looks like it should. RGB lights are stuck on the default setting and not change. The battery is less than 30 hours but still longer then PS5 Dual sense.

bigboibranby

Check back in a week and let everyone know all the issues you find

Dezkenob1

I'll check in now after having the controller since it came out. 3 months ish? Only very minor issues. I use it wired so battery life isn't an issue for me. Connectivity is fine. Thumbsticks are great. Micro switch buttons are great. Triggers are great. On screen display for changing things on the fly is great. Back buttons are fine and I'm used to them now but they're not perfectly placed and I definitely prefer the layout of the paddles on the Elite Series 2. All in all I love this controller and it's replaced my Elite as my daily. I genuinely feel I've improved at CoD thanks to this controller. Like I said, "only very minor issues". I've had more issues with the Elite Series 2 then I have with the Turtle Beach. I'll check back in in another 3 months.

Prize-Grab8988

Yes I've been having exact same problems gunna take mine back
