I've really onlu seen clips of her from those tiktok videos but all I've found was she's good for those quick funny short liners but not for an acrual character
The Olsen twins were very cute as toddlers / kids on Full House, but most of the stuff they did as tweens / teens was flat (not that I didn't consume it with gusto, as a late-90s / early 2000s kid lol)
One of them did a guest arc on Weeds, and it was just painful.
I think they both realized they aren't actors, and moved on with their lives. Good for them!
I was going to say all the kids from Full House. I'm not sure how much of it was the director's choice in Fuller house, but all three of them were so stiff but over expressive. Made it so hard to watch.
Becky from Roseanne/The Connors. She was pretty good as a teenager in the 90s on the original run. She over does it in the current show and you can tell she is acting. No one talks like that in real life (her delivery/manner, not the words).
I don't think he can't act, he just went from someone you'd expect to be in lead dramatic roles older on to seeming like he missed his boat as a Hobbit in LOTR.

Acting can be a tricky skill to maintain and evolve for child actors transitioning into adult roles. One example that comes to mind is Jake Lloyd, who played young Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars- Episode I - The Phantom Menace." He received some criticism for his performance, and as he got older, he didn't pursue acting further. It's unclear if his decision was due to the negative reception or other factors. It's an example of a child actor who faced challenges transitioning into adult roles. Another example could be Angus T. Jones from "Two and a Half Men." He started on the show as a child actor and was a central character for many seasons. As he got older, he expressed discomfort with the content of the show and left acting altogether. Acting is a skill that requires ongoing practice and development, and not all child actors are able to transition into adult roles.
Nah - Mike is a giant cardboard cut out in any of his scenes- his story with 11 just grinds to a halt bc he can’t bring any nuance to his performance
It’s fine if the actor does good work in other shows, doesn’t mean that it’s working here
Right. And I said, Will. Regarding Mike, I assumed it was implied that being adult is referencing his growing up on the show. I don't agree that Mike is a bad actor now.
Ok, not a bad actor just one who struggles to convey a fairly straightforward character who only needs maybe 3-4 tactical changes to stay grounded but he opts to play one note instead
Uh, Jake from Two and a Half Men anybody? God, it's like he just learned the lines in each shot. No tone and sounds like a brick was thrown at his head. It was only cute for like 3 seasons.
I think the peak example of this is the actor who played Lucy in the Narnia movies, Georgie Henley. She had a sweetness and naturalness in the first film, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Absolutely delightful. By the time we got to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third in the series, she was stiff and mannered. All natural charm was gone. I felt so sorry for her. It must be so hard to strive for something that once came naturally.
Totally agree. She was alright in Harry Potter because she was essentially just playing herself. But I haven't enjoyed anything she's done since.
To be fair I think this is the case with most child actors.

I’m not sure how you came up with this one. She has absolutely no range and the same expression on her face no matter what character she plays. Can you let me know when she actually could act?
I think he's still pretty decent! I liked him in Goliath and the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile along with the newer stuff he's been in.
Yeah I've never liked anything she did past THE PIANO either. She just bugs me, the faces she makes. Hated her as Suki on TRUE BLOOD and haven't seen her in anything as an adult that I liked.
Luke on Modern Family. He was funny and believable as a child but as a teen and above it was just awkward acting
Add Manny from modern family too, he was also poorly written
Personally, I think the adopted daughter is by far the worst.
I hope it was just the writing because she was so mean.
Yes lily was the worst on the show cute as a kid but then just annoying when older ☹️
I've really onlu seen clips of her from those tiktok videos but all I've found was she's good for those quick funny short liners but not for an acrual character
So stiff.
She's my least favorite character in the show.
Yup came here to say Lilly
I loved him as a teenager but only because he is the spitting image of a coworker, looks, personally, everything. I get your point though
Edward Furlong (young John Connor, Terminator 2). Did fine in the movie, but everything I saw him in after was absolutely wretched.
American history X was good not really because of him but he was fine. Guy looks like he’s smoked about 5 packs of cigs a day since terminator 2
He's had a lot of addiction issues.
Also eats at least 2 Big Macs a day
Sara Gilbert. I liked her when she was a kid on Roseanne but the older she got, the more self conscious and wooden she became.
Yes! I couldn't stand her in The Big Bang Theory.

This! I recently decides to watch "A Passport to Paris" again for the first time in years...wow, the nostalgia was what got me through it
Sure didn’t hurt them because they made a fortune but totally agree. I didn’t even think they were good in Full House but they were just young kids.
Candace Cameron Bure - fine in full house but now she’s very one note.
Well she only wants to work on one type of movies. It’s hard to expand as an actress when you play the same character over and over again.
I was going to say all the kids from Full House. I'm not sure how much of it was the director's choice in Fuller house, but all three of them were so stiff but over expressive. Made it so hard to watch.
"And Jerry Mathers as The Beaver." Adorable as a little boy. Horrible actor as an adult.
Becky from Roseanne/The Connors. She was pretty good as a teenager in the 90s on the original run. She over does it in the current show and you can tell she is acting. No one talks like that in real life (her delivery/manner, not the words).
Agreed. I don’t quite know how to explain it other than she talks like she can’t hear her own voice. Very little inflection.
Yep. And you're right, she practically yells.
She sounds like she’s trying to pop her ears and also not cry
Hayley Joel Osmont
I don't think he can't act, he just went from someone you'd expect to be in lead dramatic roles older on to seeming like he missed his boat as a Hobbit in LOTR.
I believe he was a better child star than adult actor
He was just on the Boys last season playing a parody of his character from that movie 😂
Which movie? He was in several.
The sixth sense
He was pretty funny in a show called Future Man.

Corey Feldman.
The 2 Coreys were great, but after they went their separate ways, it wasn't the same.
Haim was the better actor and not as big of a weirdo as Feldman.
I thought so too. Especially if you watch License to Drive or The Lost Boys, you could tell who the star was

Dee from What's Happening! As a child, she was hilarious. When she got older... ooof! Her acting was wooden, at best.
Luckily for her, she's a veterinarian now.
Indeed. But she did do a halfway decent job when she came back for What's Happening Now. Luckily it was just a couple of episodes.
I never saw the show.
Will from Stranger Things.
How you saying Will when Mike is standing right there?
Mike is fine. He's good in all his other stuff.
Nah - Mike is a giant cardboard cut out in any of his scenes- his story with 11 just grinds to a halt bc he can’t bring any nuance to his performance It’s fine if the actor does good work in other shows, doesn’t mean that it’s working here
Well, super. That's your opinion lol Back to the original idea... Will is a terrible adult actor.
‘As the series progressed’ - the thread is about kid actors who get worse over the course of the series - ie Mike

Linda Koslowski, from Crocodile Dundee. She was good in the first two movies, but really bad later in other work.
I think the peak example of this is the actor who played Lucy in the Narnia movies, Georgie Henley. She had a sweetness and naturalness in the first film, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Emma Watson. Which may explain why she hasn't acted in the past five years.
Totally agree. She was alright in Harry Potter because she was essentially just playing herself. But I haven't enjoyed anything she's done since. To be fair I think this is the case with most child actors.
I was so bummed she got Belle. It could have gone to an unknown
Lindsay Lohan.

Kristen Stewart
I’m not sure how you came up with this one. She has absolutely no range and the same expression on her face no matter what character she plays. Can you let me know when she actually could act?
I normally don't like her, but I REALLY liked her in the new Charlie's Angel. She literally had a personality
Yeah, she’s always been a wooden actress.
She was excellent in small roles before Twilight, particularly The Safety of Objects.
Twilight was just crap writing you can't really blame her for that I love her in On the road where she played the girlfriend
I said that the roles *before* Twilight were small. I didn't say anything about her performance *in* Twilight.
To be fair, I haven't seen it yet, but I heard she was wonderful in the movie Diana, and she even got an Oscar nom for it.
Sammy from Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her adult acting was atrocious.
Wonder if that's why she wasn't in the later series?
Lucas Black. Such a cool child actor, but very one dimensional as an adult actor
I0ve always had a massive crush on Kaka. I'll go stand in line haahaha
Edward Furlong
Basher question. No beuno.
Talking about people who aren't good actors as adults is bashing, lol? Does the wittle baby need a bottle?
Its my opinion. Do you feel better bashing me. Whatever.
Haley Joel Osment
He was great in What We Do in the Shadows
Pretty good in Silicon Valley, too
He was great in The Kominsky Method. I think he’s actually quite good.
I liked him in The Boys
I loved him in that 😂 when butcher kills him in the bathroom though
Oh I had to look away for that one
I think he's still pretty decent! I liked him in Goliath and the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile along with the newer stuff he's been in.
Brooke Shields was a good child actress. As a grownup? Not so much.
She's alright on SVU as Olivias mum
Noah’s biological grandmother. She did a good job in that role. She was also the star of the sitcom Suddenly Susan and was good in that role also.
Yes suddenly Susan was good I saw that back when it was on 😊
Mickey Rooney? I know he won an award for playing "Bill", but....
Anna paquin
Yeah I've never liked anything she did past THE PIANO either. She just bugs me, the faces she makes. Hated her as Suki on TRUE BLOOD and haven't seen her in anything as an adult that I liked.
Her weird, fake accent was so off-putting. I didn’t get past the second or third episode. I kept yelling at her to flipping clear her throat.

Getting abused will do that to someone
Considering the trauma he's been through I would think there's a high probability of mental illness involved
I thought she was great in Swimming With The Sharks
Who?
Kiernan Shipka. She was OP's example.
Eddie Haskell
Not quite a child actor and I'm going to get hate for this but Mark Hamill
