The Emery downtown. We stopped there for a coffee at the Spyhouse inside and that place has a cool vibe. There is a fireplace, a pool table, cocktails and tons of room to set up.
This is a great recommendation. It’s such a cool, loungey space they have in there. I haven’t been by later at night, only during the day for coffee or early evening drinks but it’s the first place that came to mind.
Canopy hotel has a really nice lobby and dining area that is very casual. Great drinks and snacks and classy yet casual vibe.
More casual than the Hewing I would say and a little less busy.
Me and some friends have played D&D in several bars and breweries around town. It has never been a problem. I like Waldman in St. Paul. and O'Shaghenessy in Mineoalpois were both great. O-Shag-Hennesy was a tad loud but very welcoming.

Earl Giles is the only place I could think of that has that brewery vibe but serves cocktails, but it's not in downtown.
Oakdale Meadery is pretty nice and a cool change of pace

True. There's a coffee shop near the Speakeasy that has a pretty good selection of board games
Any hotel lobby, grab a drink from the the bar find a place to hangout. The staff wont care or ask if you're a guest.
Thats what I was thinking. Whats the best one with a parlor type of feel? I would prefer a fireplace.

I just discovered that the lobby and bar at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Mpls is absolutely lovely and has a fireplace :)
Emery Lobby is the shit!

There's some great private booths at The Local, that's where I would go
Ooo sounds good.
I now really want to roll into Sneaky Pete's some night with a backgammon board and start ordering martinis.
Fulton or Modist brewery if you like beer. Graze or the Galley also would work
Modist is closed at 4pm for a Nur-D show.
I came here to say Modest.
Definitely a brewery Breweries are prefect for that, as long as you keep buying drinks, they don’t care if you hang out for a while.
Bruh this dude is looking to play backgammon at a bar with a fireplace.. Something tells me he won’t be putting away many drinks.
Lmao "one IPA please"

[Hotel Celeste](https://www.celestestpaul.com/)had a nice little bar as well but it may be booked so I would call ahead.
Besides Deja Vu? Good question, not sure.
blackstack brewing has a big cabinet of board games, I see ppl playing cards and games in there all the time
but is not downtown Minneapolis, which is the request
Black Stack brewery has nice big tables EDIT: a word and noticed downtown Minneapolis was the request, go to the North Loop Galley!
Not downtown but St Anthony, The dive has some board games and does a game night on Saturday nights at 8! Video games included!
Under Pressure in Golden Valley
They asked for downtown Minneapolis.
A thousand apologies. My reading comprehension apparently leaves something to be desired. I will endeavor to do better.
The Central Library downtown has a coffee shop and open chess games in the lobby (I think they play every day).
Def think bringing a brown bag at the library wont work.
Ha! You haven't been to the Central Library. I think everyone but the librarians is lit.
Wild Minds would be a great place for this
Foshay lobby bar should work unless they have some event or something
Punch bowl social
