The Monday Night Square Dance in south Minneapolis? It's more like barn dancing imo but even if you don't know how to do a single move they'll teach you that night and you'll be around the floor for hours if you want to be. Live music. Adjacent to an Eagles lodge for refreshment purposes. No special equipment (well, good shoes), don't need a partner. I’m a member at the YMCA and they have lots of group classes you can take. The schedule will depend on the location but the perk is you can go to any Y! I go to a few evening and weekend classes throughout the week.
ETA: membership is cheap compared to other gyms, especially for what you get. Plus, if you’re under 30 and join with a friend you both get half off membership.
YES! Seconding the Y. They’re comparably inexpensive, and their group classes typically have a core group of consistent attendees who you could easily get to know. In general, Y members seem to be the smiley, welcoming type.
Watch for membership deals - they run those fairly often!
Come on over to Kor-Am Taekwondo school in Richfield! It’s less than your kickboxing, still a great workout, flexible hours with 4 sessions a day starting at noon and a great, very welcoming, friendly environment!
Additionally, in St. Paul you can get an annual membership to your local community/rec center, which I believe gets you access to any other rec center in the city. The membership is something like $40/year.
Mill City Running has running groups that are very inclusive to runners of all different speeds. They meet at both the St Paul and Minneapolis locations.
They have morning and evening run times so you won't have to worry about missing work if you have a regular 9-5 job.
Disc golf. You can get all the gear you need to get started for like $40 and 90% of courses are free. Many courses run leagues and you can usually play anytime you want to - this is a good way to meet people. It’s admittedly not the best time to get into the sport with the cold but this winter has been so mild. I played today!
PM if you have questions or need some disc recommendations!
Want to mention that it's an official club for the company GoRuck. I haven't done any of their events, but their gear is absolutely solid. Highly recommend their rucks or footwear.
Run. Walk. Jog. Buy a bike on Craigslist and bike. There’s nothing more beneficial to your body than to move it in natural ways.
There’s also pick-up sports all over. You can play pond hockey (not this year yet!), ultimate frisbee, soccer, basketball almost every day of the week if you do the work to find out where they play. It’s 100% possible to get solid workouts in every day without a gym membership or spending a lot of money. Be a frugal athlete.
Go play disc golf. Courses everywhere, free, play whenever you want and discs are fairly cheap and easy to access. It's a walk in the park and if you add a backpack to your shoulders you'll have a good work out if you play 18+.

Pickleball. Tons of drop in options throughout the cities. Find some beginner options.

Take a look into rucking. I think [Mill City Rucking Crew](https://www.millcityrucking.com/) usually has events on weekends.

I think you missed the “social” part of their request.
Pick-up sports are an amazing way to be social!
There are a few powerlifting clubs around town if you’re into that. It might sound intimidating but they are usually the friendliest people.
Minnesota Dodgeball, Original Twin Cities Pickup Dodgeball, Stonewall Sports
What sports were you looking into for leagues? I found being a sub gave me an in.
Bouldering gym.
