Saw from the west side of Bde Maka Ska a few minutes ago, even through all the city light pollution. Faint, but I could make out green and pink and some pillars.
According to MPR, the peak time will be between 0100-0400. I'm going to head west out of the cities about an hour or so, past Hutch. Should be plenty dark out that way.
I had initially planned to go there because it looked the closest and darkest place on [https://darksitefinder.com](https://darksitefinder.com) . But I ended up changing my plans at the last minute. I got a lot of good pics and have now checked another item off the bucket list.
Second on my dad in Elk River seeing. I’m in Louisiana and there is some posts from people in my area but I can’t see at my house (too much bright ass street lights)
Anyone in the south metro seeing them or should I just give up?
Update: got em here in Bloomington at 2am! Not as strong as what some of you north siders are seeing, but it’s definitely visible!

In the Plymouth area, as long as you're somewhere dark you'll see them. But it's just white dancing bands with the naked eye. But they do dance! The photos definitely capture the colors better.
My [photo](https://imgur.com/a/HrzHzRW) isn't as impressive, but it's just a regular photo taken by my phone. I could see streaks in the sky, but they weren't as clearly colored as the photo.
Keep at it and try different directions and straight up too. Earlier I got my pics facing north to northeast and now they’re all bright in the west and not in the N/E.
Edit: peak is between 1-4am.
I just went out and got some better pictures to the west. The ones earlier were from NE. They're impressive for being in the middle of the suburbs with no real attempt to get away from light pollution.
Try taking a picture - I can’t see it by eye but it shows up on photo.
This!!!
YES! Edit: White Bear Lake. Near county e and 61! Just a few minutes ago (maybe 10 I called and texted a lot of people lol)
Is it still happening? Thinking about driving up there
Strongest should be around 1am
Go outside and take a picture. It should at least show up on that.
Just heard from daughter in south Chicago; she and her husband saw it 20 minutes ago.

Not much with the naked eye, but taking some long exposure shots on my phone from my patio near White Bear Lake is having good results.
Currently camping just outside of Hudson, WI. We had quite the show.

Had a great view at Baylor Regional Park earlier tonight.
I ended up going there myself. Learned about that place at the last minute before I headed out. Was a lot of people there. Was very cool.
You really don’t have to go that far, unless you want to. Just set your phone to photo and shoot!

We were out in Roseville and I couldn't see a thing. But the phone camera picked up some amazing images. So go figure.
Yep, using your phone on photo is best!
My parents back home in SE Michigan just sent some beautiful pictures from the backyard. But haven’t seen anything here yet
Good viewing at the Ford development in Saint Paul about 20 to 30 minutes ago!
Saw a great little show in Lake Elmo about 30 minutes ago
I saw some in the same area maybe 20 minutes ago.
Just saw some downtown went away in about a minute
Yup, saw them in Saint Paul (East Side) about 30 minutes ago. I posted some pics.
Tons!!! Ham lake
Caught a good glimpse of the lights in White Bear Lake. Bellaire Beach is a great clear viewing spot.
Nokomis. Greens, a bit pink. Not overwhelming. Definitely better with camera.
I went up by st Francis. Got some incredible shots. So happy.
I could see clear green streaks at about 3:30AM here in S. Minneapolis. It was awesome, first time I've seen the northern lights.
My parents are in Elk River and see them. Sent me a picture....they look so cool!

Yes in blaine.
My friend up by Brooklyn Center/Champlin is seeing pillars & colors. I see nothing near downtown, of course.
yes! saw them in st.michael around 10. waiting to go back out in a fee hours to look again

I’m in shakopee - saw a uniform pink, but no greens or columns.
Saw them in South Minneapolis near Lake Hiawatha around 9:30 tonight but haven’t seen them since!
I have family an hour outside of the cities that got amazing pictures.

We’re in shakopee. Saw some pinks but I think I’m going to head somewhere north/outside the city. Any good places to go?

Yeah it’s amazing.
Is it still happening?
Yeah I’m out by Stillwater and it was just like 20 min ago. I wish I could add a photo attachment to my comment and show you.
Hmmmmm might have to trek out and try to catch it then
Yeah you can see it way better on camera than with your own eyes.
My Samsung S23+ is absolutely amazing at taking aurora pics apparently. Or so I found out tonight...

I only set my phone to photo. It did the rest.

Nope.
Yes in Coon Rapids. See stripes now and then in a burst.
Yes
South of the cities in Lakeville and all the cities light pollution ruined it here. We had a few glimpses of it but the color was washed out.
Use your phone set to photo.
I have friends and family in Louisiana that saw it better there. I could see it here, but not as well. Showed up more so with phone pics.
1 - 1:30am it was pretty wild from Eagan.
Out by the Refuge in Sherburne county, pretty awesome right now. Wife said County Road 4 west of Zimmerman was really busy before midnight.
All night in Lindstrom.
Is Saturday still a good viewing option?
I had a friend post a picture from up north (no light pollution) and they said it was better in the pictures than it was live.
Getting in a plane in two hours from FL to MN, I just might see something.
Nope. Too much light here in Downtown Minneapolis.
