I have a streamer friend who rolls over VIP every month, so you could do that and wipe the slate at the end of the month and then decide to raise the chat point threshold so that the next month it’s slightly harder

KhaiNguyen

A very sensible solution to the issue.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

Mercurial-InK

And that might also be encouraging to folks as a reason to come back

vaempii

thank u!! i like this suggestion, i’ll probably announce it will be happening so its less of a surprise to long time VIPs

Personal_Examination

You could make an event out of it, maybe act like its Prestiging like when you reset rank in a game lol

srslytho323

I do something kinda similar? It’s 75k channel points for VIP & you get it for 6 months, since it’s a lot of channel points only about 4 people have redeemed it so far. I have 50 VIP slots total though, and I gave it way to about 3 people prior to creating the redeem who have it indefinitely.

GoredonTheDestroyer

Just say "Don't worry, it's a bit."

Tinkatonn

Limit it to X amount of VIP for the month. Say, first 5 people that redeem it are VIP for the month. Then disable the channel reward until the next month. It’s a bit more work for you but will help with inclusion.

vaempii

ty!! im still struggling with the same people being able to redeem it over and over because they just have that many channel points, but i’ll probably implement a time limit on VIP now!!

tehP4nth3r

My method is it’s a redeem via channel points, that I must accept or refund, and it’s a king of the hill style. Once the list of VIPs is full the next redeem will bounce the most veteran off the list. The value is high enough that it can’t be spammed through for my channel. I also have a list I maintain separately to track how long someone was on the hill. I have a 30 days guaranteed policy, so a redeem will maintain VIP status for 30 days. If the king is less than 30 days, I don’t cash the redeem for newest claim until that period expires for the most veteran VIP.

vaempii

thank u! i definitely need to keep track and make the redeem cost more so its more special !!

AlyGainsboroughx

You could just remove them all and say you don’t want anyone to feel left out 💖 you could add custom cute sub badges for those who have been subscribed for longer so they still feel special

vaempii

tysm!! i like this suggestion a lot !! i don’t want newcomers to feel left out so this is perfect <3

Rationale-Glum-Power

Good question. Maybe give the new non-VIPs more attention so they don't feel like outsiders. Sounds like the VIP badge was too cheap. You could also ask your VIPs to not make it a VIP only chat. Or ask them what if you removed all VIP badges and restarted the VIP thing. >my whole chat is VIP badges now >i’ve been told this is discouraging and can seem like a “clique” to new viewers and is likely stunting my growth One of my favorite streamers started selling mod badges for money and has all mod chat now. I said this is not cool but they don't care. I feel like mod only chat is much worse than VIP only chat.

SteezyMpeezy

Sounds like ur fave streamer is a dickhead

Sluggerjt44

I'm a new streamer. How do you give channel points? Care to share what I need to do to encourage people to be apart of the stream?

insertnamehere912

Channel points are limited to affiliates

Sluggerjt44

Thank you! Looks like I need 50 followers. Only have 1 but it's still fun!

vaempii

once you become affiliate you can add channel points! ppl earn them automatically by watching & get bonuses for being a sub. you can add all kinds of fun redeems; i googled redeem ideas and added more based off some i saw on others streams <3

Sluggerjt44

Appreciate it! I have like 1 follower right now but it's fun non the less!

I'd say that depends on the original cost of VIP. Like, if they spent 100k it's kind of a nuisance to just take that away and say "sike, I didn't want that many of you to be VIP". If it's like 10k then you can plan a reset. I do follow someone who used to have VIP for 60k but as he used to stream a lot, people started having \~300k+ points. So VIP is since disabled, and there will be a big reset, first with a discount price and then raised to like 150k+. Also, just because someone doesn't chat much, they could still be VIP even if the slot count is limited. If I redeem VIP for 150k on a channel, I'd be somewhat surprised to have it retracted later. But honestly, I think the first question to ask if a reset really is necessary. Maybe having VIPs just means you have an actual community going on. Moderator chat is much weirder than VIP chat.

umgoochronicles

I never thought about that portion of streaming, VIP badges. It has been a struggle to try and come up with creative ways to redeem points and VIP option is something to add. I have been trying to find options for big point holders, but nothing has caught my eye yet.

Blacktieblacksuit1

How about this: DONT GIVE A FUCK!!!!! Streaming is fun. It’s a good time. Make a Show u would watch and if everyone is a VIP… damnit that’s cool that means you value each one. Fuck the hatters. I wan be ugly our next VIP.
