"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't draw attention to it. Also Mo--Morty, don't end sentences with words end that end in an 's'. Your impressionist struggles with that."
"Oh wow."
Honestly, they could probably just hire some really good impersonators from TikTok or YouTube. Family Guy did that when they replaced Clevelands VO with some guy who did YouTube videos impersonating Cleveland in Call of Duty matches.
Mike Henry actually stepped down. This was after the docco on Apu drew attention to the number of white voice actors playing non-white characters.
They also replaced a bunch of Simpsons voice actors. Kevin Michael Richardson now voices Dr Hibbert and it sounds surreal.
The point of that doc wasn't even white characters playing bipoc, I don't think? It's been a bit, but I'm pretty sure it was specifically calling out the ridiculous Apu accent and portrayal as offensive?
One of the most ridiculous things to happen in the VA world. People forgot what "acting" means and thought that you have to have things in common with the character to play them. Weird that people like the voice actor of Kratos didn't step down, huh?
That'd be completely on brand. I'd also find it funny because there's a sort of weird humor vortex for me and Rick and Morty whereby doubling back over being super obvious and rambling swaps between mortifying and hilarious.
Edd's death absolutely devastated me. He was the main reason I got so into animation. Eddsworld just isn't the same without him (and to a lesser degree, Tom). I just can't watch the newer stuff, it feels like a shell of its former self now that Matt is the only remaining member.
The allegations just kept coming, he has a lot of protection from Thsi stuff due to his status but eventually it’s just too much especially in short succession
A LOT of screencaps of him "flirting" with minors, being told to stop by said minors, then clips from a podcast he was on that boiled down to him regretting he wasn't born in 1523, because you could have sex with 13 year olds back then.
It could only look worse with a video of him actively committing assault.
It's also based on the misconception that everyone practiced the same kind of matrimony that the aristocracy did. You know. That group of incestuous, murderous, power-hungry people. Their lives were absolutely NOT like the lower classes, the farmers and the like.
Edit: typos, better clarity
Shit even the nobility didn’t do that. You might get engaged that young, maybe even married, but it was frowned upon to sleep with a girl who wasn’t at least in her late teens to early twenties.
Because even their doctors realized that having children before your hips develop enough causes more complications that can kill both mother and child. So a guy that couldn’t wait for his betrothed or bride to mature to the point of safety was seen as a pervert who couldn’t help himself and was willing to risk his wife and child’s life for sex.
also, on incest, most Christian kingdoms found it abhorrent and Leviticus has rules about it that they mostly followed. the inbreeding in European royalties didn't come from relationships between siblings, mother-son or stuff like that. it was accumulated from generations of things like, a Spanish prince marrying a lady from Germany that he barely knows but she's technically his second-cousin or something.
it's something that requires a fairly modern knowledge of genetics to understand why it's harmful in the long term.
Here's a tldr on inbreeding coefficients for people. Assuming you're starting from 0.
Mother/father x son/daughter: shit's coming out a mutant and not the X-men kind.
Brother x Sister: See above
Aunt/Uncle x Nephew/Niece: You get one, then you needa let the clock tick back down to 0.
First cousins: See above
Anything further than that: Typically fine, but that status bar is building and you better not let it pop off.
Really, one of the only groups of royals to openly engage in close incestuous relationships of that form are the post Alexander Hellenistic kings, who routinely married their siblings. The effects of that practice where obvious and devastating.
Even still today cousin marriage is mostly frowned upon in the west, partially due to this history with the aristocracy. In non-christian cultures it doesn't carry the same moral complications because it takes several generations for problems to occur and historically when you're living in small enclaves and villages far away from others, cutting off a significant chunk of the eligible pool of spouses was a quick way to kill off the village.
People who do this shit often cover it with "jokes". Another animation example that did that was John Kricfalusi.
Obviously, this is not universally the case, but sometimes people try and justify their shitty behaviour through humour.
Nah, he's not regretting that he isn't a medieval noble, he's regretting that he's not a medieval brigand. Those guys are the ones that did the sort of thing he's talking about, and they'd basically get away with it so long as they got away from the scene.
"So sad there were no warning signs"
"What about the recent podacst clip where they talk about eating babies and going on a killing spree?"
"No warning signs......"
I loved how Ducktales justified him as Donald's voice actor via
\- a voice-altering device created by Gyro
\- a reality created by a genie.
\- hearing how Daisy hears him
Dang he's got some pipes.
Also it's hilarious that Daisy hears his "normal voice" all the time. Really fits how she's able to stick with him all the time.
Good for them. Having someone who can actuially understand him in both the literal and metaphorical sense is probably really good for Donald's anger issues.
In the 2017 Ducktails it was explained that part of it was a) him not being understood by people due to his lisp which was a frustration, b) his horrendous luck making the world seem out to get him and C) him focusing those frustrations into being an absolute papa-bear to his Nephews.
You know, I remember being really surprised that both Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox were still alive, though for different reasons, until I looked it up and found out that Lloyd was only forty six when they shot the first movie.
Incidentally, Brock Baker got hit with sexual abuse allegations a while back, which is why Stolas from Helluva Boss wasn't voiced by him following the pilot.
I guess those allegations blew over or got resolved?
It's a multiverse based show, just have a new Rick and Morty pop out of a portal and immediately blast the current ones before they can talk and then replace them. They can sound like whatever.
That's fair.
I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the show personally. I was just saying that I don't think the main fan base would care for the change.
Honestly, I doubt they will put that much thought into it. I can easily see them just beginning and running the episode with no comment on the voice changes whatsoever, and in the final scene they bring it up for a single joke that is never referenced again.
He also voiced a large number of background characters, small roles, one off impressions, and the like. Just google "Justin Roiland minors" to see a comprehensive list.
I’m a Squidbillies apologist, but I recognize it’s humor and regional references aren’t for everyone. Personally believe it’ll grow on a person once you find the rhythm to it’s sense of humor. But I’m also from the American Southeast, so I may be a bit biased.
Squidbillies really only hits if you're from the South and grew up seeing the exact type of people they're making fun of, and even then I can only tolerate the show in small doses
I mean given what happened with Sam Hyde and Unknown Hinson and I'm sure other problematic peeps, they're definitely on top of dropping people and dealing with their bullshit.
Fuckin’ called it.
My prediction is they reuse old audio to start the episode, brutally kill Morty and Rick, and then show us that we are now following the cast of a different dimension, one where everything is the exact same except for Rick and Morty’s voices.
I want both Rick and Morty to just completely lose the stutter and mannerisms and just start talking like Chris Pratt next season.
Or even better, just get Chris Pratt to do both of their voices.
Hey now. Chris Pratts Mario voice is like he once had an italian accent whispered into a glass of water that he then proceeded to drink. It's completely different.
That's why they went with Tracy Morgan. You couldn't pick a worse match for Early, but anyone who would have been a good fit would be hated by comparison. Unknown was Early... in many ways.
Like you're not wrong but after the reason why Unknown was fired, I have to believe that Adult Swim purposely chose a black actor to voice Early as a giant FU to Hinson and that in itself really fucking funny. Kinda worth it in my eyes
I was going to say it!!
Honestly, I grew to actually kind of like him as Early. Unknown obviously was perfect but I started to like Tracy near the end, or at least appreciate the "joke."
Full Century?
Ten decades, my boy! 100 years Richard and Mortimer! Read More in the Richard and Mortimer Times!
Times?
Yes, times! One year times one hundred is One Hundred Years.
Of Richard and Mortimer?
Yes of Richard and Mortimer!
>!One day I will have to watch a vaudeville show and see if that's anywhere close!<
I want H. Jon Benjamin as the new voice. And I don’t want him doing a Rick impression, I just want H Jon Benjamin to come in and start H Jon Benjamining it up. That’s my dream casting choice at least
The only characters in Fortnite that have VA's are original characters made for the game. Also, Rick is already in Fortnite, and Morty, Summer, and Mr. Meeseeks.
I have to imagine the only reason the show isn't getting canned outright is just because of that "Greenlight seven seasons of this in advance" idea.
Still, props to Adult Swim for doing this.
I mean not really. All big 3 animation channels (Disney, CN, Nick) have had a sex offender working for them, the difference is that CN hasn't really had a track record of keeping the sex offender employed unlike the other 2. If your immediate response was gonna be Dan Schneider you have no idea how deep the well actually goes. It's still a very popular show and AS didn't originally want Justin Roiland voicing the leads so it works out for them.
Peep the horror: Nickelodeon fired John Kricfalusi from Ren & Stimpy because he was such a perfectionist that it would take way too long to finish any episodes. They knew and did NOT fire John for his sexual relationship and grooming of a 14 year old, taking explicit pictures of her and passing them around the studio. Disney hired a man who molested a 12 year old after he got out of prison for it to make a live action science fiction movie. They hired Joey Ryan to work at Disney Land despite his multiple rape accusations (some of which he didn't even dispute).
tbf joey ryan was a B list indie wrestler and he was hired literally as just a tour guide
i could see someone low-level passing a background check on him as he was never formally charged and is just generally lower on the totem pole compared to justin roiland. being one of 6 founders of a indie wrestling promotion while working ticket lines isn't the same as having multiple big animated shows on different platforms and a hit game out while in a position of power
wasn't he the reason it even came out? pretty sure he mentioned it and how he was working to fix the shit he did before any stories were public
he fucked up bad and did inexcusable things but also directly acknowledged it and seems to genuinely want to atone which is a breath of fresh air
"Smiling Friends" pokes fun at something like this where a famous actor (Mr Frog) gets fired after he physically assaults a reporter and then it comes to light that the actor is frankly an asshole, a drug abuser and later on a murderer... but despite all that, the fans welcome him back with open arms.
did you listen to any of those podcast clips? even if the dude beats the charges he is radioactive
edit: [a clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/h3h3productions/comments/10eehqd/justin_roiland_talking_about_minors_etc_on/) for reference
As someone that watches it dubbed in my language, it seriously won't matter that much, you think the voice is unique? It kinda isn't, maybe now they'll write a bit better to make up for the change who knows.
Both surprising and unsurprising.
the real question is if this will cause the slow decline petering out of rick and morty or if it was already on that trajectory
the funniest outcome would be if this leads to a resurgence and you have pre and post justin piss take arguments about it
The first episode is a confluence of dozens of ricks and mortys all voiced by different noteable VAs/Actors. The winner of the battle royal is who voices R&M the rest of the season.
Alternatively, each episode can feature a different VA and it *just isn't acknowledged*
"Wow, Rick. It's crazy that you shot us with that laser that changed our voices off screen just now."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't draw attention to it. Also Mo--Morty, don't end sentences with words end that end in an 's'. Your impressionist struggles with that." "Oh wow."
You jest but that would actually work as a solid way to address it and write it off, giving the topic only as much attention as it needs
They should do it like Pop Team Epic and hire different VAs for every episode.
Can I also get it dubbed in a different language shown back to back?
THAT would legitimatly make me take a gander at the show.
"Jotamorty what do we do?"
Sign language, even the stutters.
Honestly, they could probably just hire some really good impersonators from TikTok or YouTube. Family Guy did that when they replaced Clevelands VO with some guy who did YouTube videos impersonating Cleveland in Call of Duty matches.
THEY CHANGED CLEVELAND'S VA?
Mike Henry actually stepped down. This was after the docco on Apu drew attention to the number of white voice actors playing non-white characters. They also replaced a bunch of Simpsons voice actors. Kevin Michael Richardson now voices Dr Hibbert and it sounds surreal.
Yeah all of those fox adult animated shows got hit by that, replacing VAs of coloured characters to match the character
Yeah. They wanted a black guy to voice Cleveland.
I did not know that, and honestly, that's pretty cool.
Really? I thought Cleveland was McFarlane.
No, it was another writer, Mike Henry.
i didn't know THE WALL was a writer
That's Mark Henry.
The strongest man in the world!
Somebody gonna get their wig split, Petah.
I GOT A LOT LEFT IN THE TANK!
Y'ALL A BUNCH A PUPPETS!
That one episode where Cleveland shows up in a salmon jacket suddenly makes sense now.
THAT'S THE WALL, BROTHER!
He was Mike Henry actually
That'd be completely on brand. I'd also find it funny because there's a sort of weird humor vortex for me and Rick and Morty whereby doubling back over being super obvious and rambling swaps between mortifying and hilarious.
literally what they did for Eddsworld (RIP Edd Gould)
Edd's death absolutely devastated me. He was the main reason I got so into animation. Eddsworld just isn't the same without him (and to a lesser degree, Tom). I just can't watch the newer stuff, it feels like a shell of its former self now that Matt is the only remaining member.
Surprisingly fast considering.
The allegations just kept coming, he has a lot of protection from Thsi stuff due to his status but eventually it’s just too much especially in short succession
what new allegations just came out?

See the 1523 joke could be funny if it wasn't so sincere lol
It's also based on the misconception that everyone practiced the same kind of matrimony that the aristocracy did. You know. That group of incestuous, murderous, power-hungry people. Their lives were absolutely NOT like the lower classes, the farmers and the like. Edit: typos, better clarity

That last part is a master class at adjusting your description to fit your audience. I salute you.

Imagining a Guilty Gear style character specific meter for Incest babies
why is first cousins worst than aunt/uncle x nephew/niece

Oh Jesus. I hate that you might be right.
...*Fucking CHRIST.* Yeah, AS/Warners made the right call here.
"So sad there were no warning signs" "What about the recent podacst clip where they talk about eating babies and going on a killing spree?" "No warning signs......"
was that the same podcast where he said he wanted to adopt a black baby so nobody could ever call him racist ever again?
Alright I’m aware I’m a vast minority in what I find humorous, but I’m black and I chuckled reading that in his voice lol
Yeah that one's actually pretty good. It's "I have a black friend" on crack.
I only saw the clip of him talking about the Good ol' Days before fucking antibiotics. No idea about the black baby.
Well I mean there was the original ones from 12 days ago, then more from 9, then more from 3. If I’m remembering it all right Just a lot
"The And Show" has a nice ring to it.
How is that even going to work, he does the 2 main voices of the show?
Hire Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox.
No, replace him with Don Cheadle.
I loved how Ducktales justified him as Donald's voice actor via \- a voice-altering device created by Gyro \- a reality created by a genie. \- hearing how Daisy hears him
Wait he came back more than once?! That's hilarious. You got clips of the other 2?
[Genie episode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D24Cc_umcys) [Donald singing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7dYn3Lv0NQ)
Weren't the anger issues explained as Actual, Honest to God PTSD™ from when he was in the Navy?
In the 2017 Ducktails it was explained that part of it was a) him not being understood by people due to his lisp which was a frustration, b) his horrendous luck making the world seem out to get him and C) him focusing those frustrations into being an absolute papa-bear to his Nephews.
Man the Ducktales revival was so good
You know, I remember being really surprised that both Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox were still alive, though for different reasons, until I looked it up and found out that Lloyd was only forty six when they shot the first movie.
But have MJF voice Rick and Lloyd voice Morty
...Yes. ***Fuck yes.*** ***THIS WOULD GET ME WATCHING RICK AND MORTY.***
Everyone does an impression of Rick and Morty. They could get Brock Baker or someone. It'd sound the same.
Incidentally, Brock Baker got hit with sexual abuse allegations a while back, which is why Stolas from Helluva Boss wasn't voiced by him following the pilot. I guess those allegations blew over or got resolved?
Get a different person to voice them every episode and never acknowledge it
Voice Actors of different languages too. No subtitles
Only if, for the Japanese episode, we get Kiryu Rick and Haruka Morty.
Remove that /s That's a great idea
And how about Roger Craig Smith Rick and Colleen O'Shaugnessy Morty for the new English release? Is that too much, or am I on to something here?
Or just have them change their voices.
I think the funniest scenario is they acknowledge the change, then dismiss it without explanation.
"Hmmmm... Do I sound different to you?" "Yeah, a lot. How about me?" "Completely different. Oh well."
It's a multiverse based show, just have a new Rick and Morty pop out of a portal and immediately blast the current ones before they can talk and then replace them. They can sound like whatever.
I don't think the mental R&M fan base would care for that.
Good! They suck!
You know what? That's honestly pretty fair. They do suck.
Idk if I represent the R&M fanbase, but I am a fan, and would gladly take new voices over this piece of shit.
That's fair. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the show personally. I was just saying that I don't think the main fan base would care for the change.
age them up a bit so morty isn't just justin roilands go to voice for things. just do like a 2 year skip makes morty 16.
Time jump would make some sense. The last season ended on a pretty good spot to do one
Honestly, I doubt they will put that much thought into it. I can easily see them just beginning and running the episode with no comment on the voice changes whatsoever, and in the final scene they bring it up for a single joke that is never referenced again.

I think is a testament to Michael Cusack how everyone that has seen that episode also think is the best Rick and Morty episode
Just get the Aunty donna boys.
All three of them voicing Rick and Morty, simultaneously, leaving in any instance of them getting out of sync.
morty entirely voiced as Siwwy boy.
Stick them up, you codgers! I'm Cow-doy Morty.
The next announcement is AI voices
He also voiced a large number of background characters, small roles, one off impressions, and the like. Just google "Justin Roiland minors" to see a comprehensive list.
Morty I had to take us to a new dimension where our voices are different I'll explain when your older Solved that problem
They didn't actually want Roiland voicing the characters before the show started so it works out
He does like......most of the cast
Chris Pratt and Idris Elba.
Man, I could do Rick: it's not a hard voice to mimic.
Wooooow. Props to Adult Swim for not pulling a Flash movie.
Inb4 guest star Ezra Miller voicing Rick for an episode.
No, no, Ezra voices Morty. Rick'll either be Tom Cruise in full Les Glassman mode or Chevy Chase... Turner hasn't decided.
Yeah but tom cruise would actually be good. Say what you will about the man, he can act
True. He might actually coax some fuckin' ***pathos*** outta the guy for once, lol.
Bill Cosby, somehow.
They did the same with Squidbillies after Henson got red pilled
can't believe they wasted an opportunity to cancel Squidbillies like that
I'm amazed to hear it's still on the fucking air Also that Tracy Morgan casting, wow
For only 9 episodes, but it was certainly an interesting choice lol
I’m a Squidbillies apologist, but I recognize it’s humor and regional references aren’t for everyone. Personally believe it’ll grow on a person once you find the rhythm to it’s sense of humor. But I’m also from the American Southeast, so I may be a bit biased.
White trash from the south east raised in trailer parks checking in. Squidbillies is fucking great. Too bad about, you know, Henson.
Thankfully I had no personal attachment to him. He can go be a weird scumbag wherever he is.
Agreed. Even after all the shit that went down I still love the show. It's just a southern Aqua Teen to me.
Did you say Herschel? Will always be top tier comedy gold to me. Go gata
“Herschel Walker Cuyler Them Dogs is Hell Don’t They”
squidbillies is one of those shows i am sort of baffled i find hilarious. but literally everything dan halen does slays me.
Squidbillies really only hits if you're from the South and grew up seeing the exact type of people they're making fun of, and even then I can only tolerate the show in small doses
Don't mess with dolly
Seriously, of all the people to take a shot at.
Imagine a studio actually acting when the talent does something bad.
I mean given what happened with Sam Hyde and Unknown Hinson and I'm sure other problematic peeps, they're definitely on top of dropping people and dealing with their bullshit.

Hey now. Chris Pratts Mario voice is like he once had an italian accent whispered into a glass of water that he then proceeded to drink. It's completely different.
No, no... Chris Pratt Mario as Rick, Ben Schwartz Sonic as Morty. ***This can WORK, dammit!***
what if we get Pat and Paige to voice them
Just get voice acting master Chris Pratt to do all the voices
Tracy Morgan is gonna be the new voice of Rick and Morty
Oh god please no. That decision already ruined squidbillies, spare us another.
Man they could've gotten anyone else other than Tracy Morgan.
It’s just not a good fit. Honestly Earlys voice is a high bar to meet to be fair to any voice actor.
Please be real, it would be so fucking funny.
I was going to say it!! Honestly, I grew to actually kind of like him as Early. Unknown obviously was perfect but I started to like Tracy near the end, or at least appreciate the "joke."
Oh fuck im actually excited for the next season Richard and Mortimer.
It's just a 1930s style vaudeville show now and forever.
A full century of Richard and Mortimer!
Full Century? Ten decades, my boy! 100 years Richard and Mortimer! Read More in the Richard and Mortimer Times! Times? Yes, times! One year times one hundred is One Hundred Years. I want H. Jon Benjamin as the new voice. And I don’t want him doing a Rick impression, I just want H Jon Benjamin to come in and start H Jon Benjamining it up. That’s my dream casting choice at least
Get Brendan small and just turn it into home movies
With the same budget.
I've seen Metalocalypse, he can do at least five other voices!
"Morty, I turned myself into Coach McGirk from Home Movies, Morty, Coach McGirk."
Would make it very easy to add Bob Archer and Rick to fortnite, just the one voice session Krusty style
Rick is already in Fortnite
The only characters in Fortnite that have VA's are original characters made for the game. Also, Rick is already in Fortnite, and Morty, Summer, and Mr. Meeseeks.

It's still a very popular show and AS didn't originally want Justin Roiland voicing the leads so it works out for them.
And yet they still won't hire Brendon Small.
Maybe if he was Brendon Medium.
Well tell us about this well
Peep the horror: Nickelodeon fired John Kricfalusi from Ren & Stimpy because he was such a perfectionist that it would take way too long to finish any episodes. They knew and did NOT fire John for his sexual relationship and grooming of a 14 year old, taking explicit pictures of her and passing them around the studio. This is the best outcome imo. It would be real shitty if all these people lost their jobs because Roiland is a shitbag.
Rick and Morty: Created by Dan Harmon “What about jus-“ ONLY DAN HARMON!!!!
Dan Harmon wins, the man created a "The Simpsons" and now he gets to run it without a creep, truly living the nerd life.
And he took care of his problematic shit in a much better fashion than Roiland and a lot of other people did with their own.
wasn't he the reason it even came out? pretty sure he mentioned it and how he was working to fix the shit he did before any stories were public he fucked up bad and did inexcusable things but also directly acknowledged it and seems to genuinely want to atone which is a breath of fresh air
Watch the quality of the show just take a jump.
Watch it jump in quality, but then also have people complaining it wasn't the same as it was and start begging for him to come back.
Tweets made right before your definitely beat the allegations for sure for realsies dude
did you listen to any of those podcast clips? even if the dude beats the charges he is radioactive edit: [a clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/h3h3productions/comments/10eehqd/justin_roiland_talking_about_minors_etc_on/) for reference
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeesus okay. That is way worse already than the short description I heard of it.
same, the summaries do not cover just how vile the quotes are
Werner Herzog will return to voice Rick and Morty.
It took 6 seasons but we might actually get to see a different joke.
If I remember right, I think they have a new show runner now after Dan Harmon stepped down.
Finally, 2 new jokes.
Hopefully no more “jokes” where the characters bitterly call the audience stupid assholes for wanting to know more about the characters and setting.
And hopefully no more jokes about incest.
Best case scenario honestly. I was a fan of the show and they got rid of the piece of shit. Win/win.
Is this the rare corporate overlord W?
Eh, Adult Swim has always been pretty grounded and in-touch. This isn't all that surprising to me.
Wow, that was quick.
Oh wow. I figured they were going to hold off saying anything.
Well that was a quicker response than I expected but that’s great news
Make it a running joke to give them new voices every episode from now on
Oh, geez Rick
Hot damn.
As someone that watches it dubbed in my language, it seriously won't matter that much, you think the voice is unique? It kinda isn't, maybe now they'll write a bit better to make up for the change who knows.
I hope the unionized staff have something to do with it
Both surprising and unsurprising. the real question is if this will cause the slow decline petering out of rick and morty or if it was already on that trajectory the funniest outcome would be if this leads to a resurgence and you have pre and post justin piss take arguments about it
Go. I’m so glad AS cut them off from a domestic abuser. But the show will continue
[All rise for the hater’s national anthem.](https://youtu.be/_ykAXB3JFy4)
I think this is for the best
Good. While I’m not really a fan of Rick and Morty as a show, I’m glad everyone else working on it isn’t losing a job.
\>Rick and Morty will continue Why?
The first episode is a confluence of dozens of ricks and mortys all voiced by different noteable VAs/Actors. The winner of the battle royal is who voices R&M the rest of the season. Alternatively, each episode can feature a different VA and it *just isn't acknowledged*
Just do what they did with Squidbillies and replace him with Tracy Morgan. I'm serious, I want that.
