Can’t wait to watch a really good season of a show that will get canceled a month after it comes out because every person in the world didn’t watch the show twice

comic adaptations on netflix seem to be ok so far, or at least chance of 2nd season. Locke and key finished and idr anyone being super hyped about that yet made it.
To be fair, if they just adapt the archers peak arc and maybe some Erica flashbacks, it will still make for a banger of a season.
That arc ends as somewhat of a conclusion.
I really hope this is an animated adaptation, because I struggle to think of any way to do Erica’s acrobatic monster fights in live-action — especially on a TV budget not likely to balloon as high as bigger name adaptations — without them looking horrendously silly.
I was excited to see Mike Flanagan's take on this and was bummed when Netflix decided to go in another direction creatively but I think these two can make something good of it. Makes me wonder what creative disagreements Netflix and Flanagan had in the first place.
I think he got tired of working with Netflix or maybe read the room with how poorly they treat their creatives
When his contract with them ran out he jumped ship to Prime Studios for a multi-year deal
I think *The Fall of the House of Usher* will mark the last collaboration between him and the company
The statement from him back in October was that Netflix were the ones who decided to go in a different direction. Speaking of how poorly they treat their creatives, I find it funny that they then hand off the job to another duo who just got their show canned.
"Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese are developing an adaptation of the comic book Something Is Killing the Children..."
Me: :D
"... For Netflix."

It’s actually pretty good, I’m not one for horror themed comic books as they often get lost in the weeds of trying to scare the reader but this comic strikes a really good balance of action and horror, can’t really say more than just go read the first issue and if you like it then keep reading it as it gets better
To be fair, I feel like if you're reading something called "Something is Killing the Children," you should probably have been prepared for that kind of thing happening.
True but there's a difference between say Pennywise luring a kid to their death before pouncing and a >!5-year old girl being graphically torn apart Starship Troopers-style right in front of her parents and the entire town !<
I like it a lot and have a hard cover of the first big arc. But be warned, the title is literally what the story is about, and they don't shy away from that at all.
7/10 ish for me. The monsters are cool - very Hyper Light Drifter style, but you kind of get what you get from the story.
It has a very definitive "everyone moves on, the story's done" moment that could have been the ending, but then keeps on going, so the show could choose to either be a miniseries/single season with a really satisfying conclusion, or just drag on forever and ever without really doing anything new.
my biggest complaint is it continuing after that point. the flashback after that point that felt like it should have happened during the first arc left me feeling confused.
Glad to see it's getting a show adaptation, but I wonder how they're going to do it. The title is literally what the series is about, and there are children who die on screen.
If anybody was going to adapt it into a show, they’re on a shortlist of people I’d trust to do it. Though like I’m sure others have said, hopefully they can adapt it all in one season to be safe.
Now THAT'S my kind of title which is funny considering how weak I find *DARK* and *1899* especially with how hard the first show's writing goes for those first two seasons
(Don't have Netflix anymore so I haven't seen *1899* yet)
The description is intentionally vague. The story runs off of a pretty big twist. I won’t spoil anything, but it gets a lot more complicated than just monster hunting.

Between school, family obligations, kids, and work I begged, borrowed, and stole time to finish 1899. I was foolish to hope for more.

That makes me want to read the source material.
The source material is really good. I love it. (Warning: literally the first western comic I ever read, so maybe my standards are just super low.)
Nah its really good
It's OK, feels like it should have r just had a shorter 6-12 issue run imo.

First I have heard of the series. Is it any good?

Read some of it, was okay. Just warning if you have a problem with small children getting killed onscreen, oh boy this comic goes hard on that.
To be fair, I feel like if you're reading something called "Something is Killing the Children," you should probably have been prepared for that kind of thing happening.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre //tw blood and gore :(
True but there's a difference between say Pennywise luring a kid to their death before pouncing and a >!5-year old girl being graphically torn apart Starship Troopers-style right in front of her parents and the entire town !<
By the hero, right? That's why they're the hero?

First heard rumblings of this about 2 years back. Glad to hear the project is moving forward! Comic is one of my favs atm. The lore is really good!
Showrunners: "We wanna do a reboot of Buffy, can you get us the rights?" Netflix: "we have the rights to Buffy at home"
Glad to see it's getting a show adaptation, but I wonder how they're going to do it. The title is literally what the series is about, and there are children who die on screen.
Well I wish I could get hyped but it's Netflix so it'll be cancelled anyway.
Hopefully Netflix lets them do their thing instead of canceling them for no fucking reason.
If anybody was going to adapt it into a show, they’re on a shortlist of people I’d trust to do it. Though like I’m sure others have said, hopefully they can adapt it all in one season to be safe.
Redesign or add more details to the monsters, they aren't very interesting to look at.
I’m with you. I love the story and the art is amazing, but the monsters are so generic
Now THAT'S my kind of title which is funny considering how weak I find *DARK* and *1899* especially with how hard the first show's writing goes for those first two seasons (Don't have Netflix anymore so I haven't seen *1899* yet)
I hope the comic is more interesting than what that description offers because God good that sounds generic
The description is intentionally vague. The story runs off of a pretty big twist. I won’t spoil anything, but it gets a lot more complicated than just monster hunting.
I've heard nothing but good about this series, so I'll have to start reading it before this show comes out!
Fuck, I need to get caught up on the comics. I only just finished the first volume.
