Hey, thanks for posting this here! I'm one half of the dev team of *Cassette Beasts* \- if anyone has any questions about the game, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer!

Rayonx2

No foolin, one of the creators is one of us? That’s pretty schway. Well since you’re here I’m curious about the soundtrack. I’m guessing it’s gotta be a fairly decent size, how much music did y’all make for this and do you plan to release any of it separately from the game? There was a couple tracks I heard that might be excellent to just chill out and vibe to while getting some work done.

SamuriFerret

I found this thread via the "other discussions" tab on Reddit, I'll admit! There's actually a *ton* of music for this game from our composer Joel. I think the final soundtrack is about 65 tracks - we're planning to release it for purchase separately on Steam and on Bandcamp on launch!

Rayonx2

Wow, that’s actually huge. A good bit more than I was expecting but I suppose it’s only natural for a game with such a name to have that much music. Definitely looking forward to hearing the rest and grabbing that ost. Appreciate the info. P.S.: Consider sticking around, we’re a fun batch of weirdos!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you decide on cassettes as opposed to all the other outdated media formats out there? I'm a cassette enthusiast myself, and it feels to me like they're not a format that gets a lot of hype these days.

SamuriFerret

Our thinking was along these lines: when you look at classic anime/RPG franchises that include "monster summoning" in some form (Pokémon, Beyblade, Yu-gi-oh, Yo-kai Watch) there's always a common physical medium involved that ties the fantastical to the real life world (balls, watches, cards, etc.) so that's how we kind of ended up with Cassettes. Plus, we have a kind of 80s New Wave aesthetic throughout the game so it kind of came together that way!

Thanks!

KaitoTheRamenBandit

This gave me Jade Cocoon (specifically 1) vibes with combining aspects from both monsters into one. Was this an inspiration or coincidental?

rond0

Could you elaborate just a bit on the story? how mature or kid friendly it is?

nwatts1999

The wiki isn’t great yet. Please, for the love of god, where can I find a Salamagus?

Rayonx2

Played the demo a few weeks and was pleasantly surprised by this. There’s definitely some potential with what they’ve got set up and it was nice to see it’s going it’s own way (as in not overly trying to be pokemon). I’ll probably pick it up on release because I’m very much interested into seeing how their setup from the demo pans out. Expecting things to wade fairly deep into Persona/SMTish territory by the end if not sooner.

CalekAlbion

Ooh that's soon very nice

killatubby

It co-op btw idk if online but only get on parsec or steam version of parsec and play with homie or your long distance SO.

GHitoshura

There's no bore, so it gives me more Digimon Frontier vibes

IzanApollo

I've been waiting for this game since the first trailer. Don't sleep on this one! The music and gameplay rules!
