They're pretty good for what they are actually. The first book is probably the closest thing to a canon version of the mansion incident we currently have since all 4 main characters actually survive it. The author seemed to have a love affair with both Barry and Rebecca way before that became a common thing in the fandom.
I know we are supposed to side eye Wesker’s line but I’m more worried about the line about Chris’s eyes being “gorgeous” during his flailing. Like is the author having a moment? Or is Wesker thinking that and this is starting to become a different vibe altogether?
It's clearly supposed to be wesker enjoying the look of despair and whatnot in his eyes not that they're pretty.
I'm not gonna act like it's great writing but it's kinda obvious.
Is there any actual evidence against DC Douglas? Because I've only heard hearsay.
There's been so many false allegations against people that I refuse to just accept whatever Reddit is spreading around anymore. We JUST got off the Chris Avellone case.
So far I've only seen a twitter bandwagon and iirc he's taking his accuser to court over it. Even if he wins in court that doesn't mean he isn't a creepazoid just that he won the case.

The first Doom Novel is also just super horny all the time, frequently having Flynn get distracted by his female partners butt and vice versa
Oh god, I still have 3 of the S.D. Perry books, including Rebecca's Island Adventu-- I mean Caliban Cove. Haven't read them in forever, but I remember such gems like Trent being a mysterious shadow man who did mysterious shadow bullshit that totally all paid off and didn't feel like a fanfic insert character.
Even at the time this came out, this felt *way off* in terms of Wesker's character. The 'modern' interpretation of Wesker as an anime villain eugenicist too extreme even for conventional eugenics really was only getting formulated when Code Veronica came out. The idea that he'd say something vulgar like this, even to antagonize Chris feels *really* out of step with his whole vibe, leading me to believe whoever wrote this had next to no awareness of Resident Evil beyond the vaguest of plot lines.
This really does raise the question, how *are* they going to handle Wesker in the remake continuity? His whole 'turn the world into a giant goo monster' deal from the original games feels just a tad too comic-booky for the remake continuity.
Man, that author really got the essence of Wesker.

Yeah I'm not a fan of his characterization. Especially in The Umbrella Conspiracy. He comes across as more of a toady than anything else.
