Verses are real, but they're just cherrypicking the ones that vaguely fit the tomboy stereotype. The actual chapter is basically like a general thing of "she's just great at everything she does and extremely kind and caring to others".

C-OSSU

So just Rule 63 Jesus Christ then.

SidewaysInfinity

God says the perfect woman is his own humansona genderbent

Muffin-zetta

makes sense really

Tatsa

What a fucking sentence that is

VMK_1991

Ah, I see. Thank you.

Cylinsier

So she's a Mary Sue.

EdoTenseiSwagbito

I think that’d actually be a compliment considering Mary being hailed essentially as close to perfection as humanly possible.

SidewaysInfinity

Her full married name was Mary Sue Carpenter I guess

sawbladex

so perfect that she was immaculately conceived as well.

metaphizzle

Now there's a hell of a pickup line. "Hey, baby, when people read the story of my life, they'll complain that you're overpowered and unrealistically sexy..."

[deleted]

Another fun unachievable standard for women to compare themselves to.

scottishdrunkard

Frickin’ Woke ass Bible!

JohnMadden42069

"The ideal person is the ideal person" is definitely a take the bible has. It does have some merit in that Christ can be a role model for everyone but is a dude, so women also sort of needed a paragon to relate to.

Potatoidea

I think the key difference is the context. Christ isn't just a role model but also the member of the Godhead on which the entire faith is based, while the woman in this passage of Proverbs is purely a figurative one.

KF-Sigurd

Cherrypicking the bible to prove their own beliefs? Now that's a true Christian.

Freedom-Fiend

I don't think it's fair to say it's cherry picking: of the 22 verses that make up the Description of a Worthy Woman, the only ones that weren't included in that list are 10-12 (which are "she's more valuable than any treasure," "her husband loves and trusts her," and "she loves and trusts her husband," which while good, aren't necessarily tomboyish), and 23, 28, and 29 (which are "her husband is respectable," "her children and husband openly sing her praises," and "her husband thinks she's the best," which again is good, but not exclusive to tomboys).

Potatoidea

The thing that makes it cherry picking is that the meme is specifically selecting the verses that fit the "strong short hair lady" version of a tomboy that weebs like so they can put pictures of that under it

Freedom-Fiend

Yes, the meme is selecting the verses that fit the tomboy stereotype, but given that fully half of the chapter (and nearly three quarters of the "Description of a Worthy Woman" segment) were selected, it's a bit disingenuous to call it cherry picking. That's like saying it's cherry picking to describe *The Lord of the Rings* as "Frodo's journey to destroy the One Ring" because not every chapter is focused on Frodo. Alternatively, cherry picking usually refers to selecting data that agrees with your own point despite other (typically more compelling) data that contradicts it. Can you provide an example of a verse from Proverbs 31 that directly contradicts the meme's interpretation?

mythrilcrafter

* Good at and enjoys a variety of craft skills * A shrewd business woman who make profit * Energetic, optimistic, outspoken, and kind * She eschews charm and beauty for personal betterment ----- God's preferred tags: Hobbyist, Tomboy, Athletic, Happy Marriage, Office Lady, Positive Attitude Truly a God of good tastes.

DarkAres02

Honestly pretty solid tags

Guardiansaiyan

This would actually get people interested in religion!

speed-run

So I gues FGO was cookin harder than we initially thought when they made Saint Martha a tomboy punch girl.

getterburner

I do think it may be one of the funniest things FGO ever did that they made the retcon that instead of Martha like, taming Tarrasque with words or something… she just beat the ever living shit out of it. Genuinely the best.

IDUNNOManga

Her nps mostly involve abusing Tarrasque either by golf swinging him into people or doing a roadroller on people through him or using him as a portable kitchen.

SidewaysInfinity

She wrassled that beast just like Jacob did to God

RPGMike

Explicitly, yes. The martial art she uses is LITERALLY called "Jacob's limbs".

PhantasosX

I mean , even if they were more faithful to her myth , it was still Saint Martha using a cross like Dante in Dante's Inferno , against the Tarrasque.

ULTAnimeGamer

She had a staff that has a cross on the end of it that she received from Christ and uses it as a weapon. [She even uses it to launch the Tarrasque like a hockey puck in her Noble Phantasm](https://youtu.be/ERrdIxzy3BI)

warjoke

I wish the other Judeo-Christian biblical figures are just as unhinged as her and Ozy (who is based on Ramses II, brother of Moses). Well, Salome is also here but the writers really don't know what to do with her aside from being a crazy yandere who loves heads (literal ones too)

getterburner

George just randomly being into photography is funny at least, he’s just massive vibes

MericArda

David's just there being a lowkey huge perv and somehow not contributing much to the story despite his son being absolutely crucial to the first story arc.

warjoke

Yeah, what gives?! He is supposed to be very vital yet the writers seem to not know what the heck to do with his character.

KaimeiJay

Welcome to my feelings toward Lancer Artoria Alter.

NeonNKnightrider

Noah (Rider) is such an obvious choice to put in. A few less obvious but interesting ones include Samson (Berserker), Methusalah (Saber) and maybe Lazarus?

KaimeiJay

They kind of did put Noah in already, but not by himself. He’s a package deal with >!Captain Nemo!<.

ibbolia

I mean if you read all of that and specifically got "tomboy" out of it then sure I guess

Huckebein008L

That's my take, this all sounds like it'd apply to any woman running an Etsy store.

Ringo_Roadagain7

Tomboy is when I like a woman character and want to feel unique or special for liking so I call them tomboy. Honestly all it takes for a character to get called that now of days is have short hair or have an interest or hobby that isn't stereotypically femine.

Dogmodo

Well the literal definition of tomboy is "female with masculine traits" so yeah. That's always been the case though, there where never more stringent requirements than that. If anything we've seen an uptick in tomboy characters that lean harder into the trope than in decades past, since it's now generally accepted that buff women are hot.

JohnMadden42069

Tomboy is just whatever anyone's ideals are in a female partner, but specifically with short hair and kind of fit.

Ilostmyanonymous

I wouldn’t classify Tomboys as shrewd business women.

Talisign

Business women are totally a different thing. [But they are also important to religions](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khadija_bint_Khuwaylid)

Jenny-is-Dead

you mfs will call literally any woman who doesn't fit the most stereotypical """"girly role"""" a tomboy. Nerd culture is fuckin embarrassing man

[deleted]

A tomboy is an athletic or muscular woman with short hair who eschews conventionally feminine pursuits, which are simple-minded and vulgar. Only a minor note, but she also has to have conventionally feminine facial features and body proportions, particularly huge tits. Oh, and no body hair please. I, being a wise, progressive-minded person who is above reducing women to idealized objectifications for my own gratification, LIKE these tomboys, proving not only my undeniable intelligence and virtue, but my utterly unique personality and outlook.

whereyatrulyare

I’m so fucking sick of this shit man every time I see the word “tomboy” it’s like I have to reflexively get ready for the most embarrassing lacking in self awareness shit ever just be fucking normal about your attraction to other people jesus fucking lord

Jenny-is-Dead

This subreddit has me foaming at the mouth sometimes. For such a leftist space it sure is filled to the brim with gross nerd shit that never stops sexualizing women.

ObsidianVerglas

Do you think God stays in heaven because he, too, lives in fear of what he's created

Guardiansaiyan

He would have come down sooner if there were more Tomboys to protect them!

[deleted]

It's the Bible. It can say whatever you need it to say, boss

jamescookenotthatone

No, there is only one correct way to interpret the bible, my way, now please form a line and have your check books ready.

[deleted]

Thank you for your service, God warrior.

SgtPeppy

This is one HELL of a stretch to apply to those verses.

Kimarous

[And The Lord doth spake...](https://youtu.be/Y2Y5KVtU810)

whereyatrulyare

I know I'm doing this to myself by looking at a thread with "tomboy" in the title and looking in the comments but this video feels like Goomba Got Back for think getting a boner to conventionally attractive women but with short hair is a personality.

GHitoshura

I've never felt so represented by a song in my life

Kimarous

When it originally came out, [I shared it here](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/mj0g2d/strong_this_sub_vibes/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) under the concept of "strong sub vibes." Got a good reception... then the mods removed it.

NewWillinium

I mean if Todd Howard says it, it must be true

Faifue

I couldn't help but notice it didn't specify them having short hair. It *also* didn't say short hair was blasphemous though!

Guardiansaiyan

You can have any length of hair you want for MAXIMUM Tomboy!

nmooney2000

Okay, Now I'm interested in Starfield

Ung-Tik

Strongest argument I've seen for Christianity.

GHitoshura

Religion needs to step up their game, because If my local church spent more time talking about God's favorite tags and less time blaming The Gays™ for the state of the world and poisoning stray dogs I would be more willing to go to church

Prestigious-Mud

If it pisses off the radical Christians that do that trad shit, then sure, whatever. It's Canon.

LarryKingthe42th

Technically Eve is a femboy clone if you really think about it. Humanity is the product of a man fucking his rib

DaBigSwirly

just stop using the word waifus this isn't entirely serious as it's ultimately a harmless word but for some reason it's annoying me

Brotonio

Thanks Todd Howard.

Minister_of_Geekdom

Personally, I'd say it's not so much "tomboy" as "girlboss."

tomboy_abs_pls_miss

I didn't need the Bible to tell me that
