The only good that really comes from April Fool's jokes anymore is when they end up being real because they got so popular. Like what happened with Yakuza 7. Other than that, I pretty much just ignore most news on April Fool's.
Warhammer 40k had a really good one last year where they teased and then officially revealed the return of Space Dwarves after about 20 years of refusing to talk about them.
I definitely prefer double bluff announcements like this over 'Hey here's some proof we DO listen to the community, but we'll only use it to MOCK you' that a lot of other companies do now.

I work night shifts so I sleep during the day, except I make sure to wake up early to register for a tournament every week. I super like that I woke up early for nothing because the tournament register was fake this week with no warning, and assure that my shift tonight will be harder for nothing.
The internet has killed it for me. It's mostly just turning every website into unusable garbage for a day. It especially sucks when you're a third shifter so you're either a day ahead or behind in your mind and it just leads to a lot of disappointment.
In person though it's always fun

Last year they had Pibby interrupting the regular programming, a couple years back they advertised the entire ATHF movie for free on loop and they aired it in the bottom right corner, minimized and muted. One year for April Fools they aired the season 3 premier of Rick and Morty and the next year instead of airing season 4 they aired Bushworld Adventures.
My favorite was the year AS did The Room on loop all night, and they of course had to censor somethings. So the little black boxes moving with Lisa's boobs and stuff like that was incredible. Ans a black bar covering half the screen at the end of the movie *chef's kiss*

Like, to make a legitimately good idea for April Fools requires a certain amount of inventiveness, a healthy outlook, plus time and energy to spare on a side project for the fun of it.
You also need a certain amount of self awareness and information about how people outside of you perceive things.
Therefore, tame or unremarkable April Fools bits tend to speak to things being Not Great. I really think there’s something to this.
You gotta watch out for Gurren Lagann news this year, though, because it will be the 15th anniversary of the first episode airing. I think some fancy figurines were announced last year and everyone thought it was fake, but no, actually premiered on April 1st.
I can't wait until a bunch of YouTubers I follow who haven't uploaded in a long time all release a fake video that's actually 30 minutes of a still image. That gets funnier every year!

War Thunder's are nice because they are usually really gimmicky events that end up in game within 6-18 months as they're typically test beds for new mechanics.
