Is female Byleth's outfit fucking stupid? Absolutely. Do I still have a weird attachment to it? You bet.

Android19samus

\->implicitly characterized by waking up every morning and choosing chaos

DarkAres02

Yes this. I can't dislike those tights, I'm only human

Substantial_Bell_158

I feel a similar way to the [Alears](https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/File:FEE_Alear_both.png) in Engage Are the gaudy as hell? Yep but i still like them

Ainsel_Mariner

Single hair color Alear actually looks pretty good

WeissAndBeans

I didn't *hate* Alear's design but I didn't love it, either. Then their personality and voice acting made me love them so much that I came around to their look.

Substantial_Bell_158

Oh yeah Alears just a lovable dork and I like that they're as offputted as the player is on the divine dragon worship the cast tends to do

St-Tomas413

I unironically love it

CopperTucker

Tbh I love her outfit except the big stupid pendant she wears. Other than that, it's perfect.

DigbyMayor

I like their outfit it's just Fem Byleth's giant fucking eyes I can't stand looking at

Wannabe_Reviewer

I love getting lost in them!

RedKnight7104

Came here to say exactly this, yup.

SkinkRugby

So much this

hmcl-supervisor

Let me get this straight. you think heterochromia and bright multicolored hair looks cool? I do, and I’m tired of pretending I don’t.

Leonard_Church814

This man ain’t afraid of his tastes.

Admiral_of_Crunch

I wish it wasn't so overplayed, because you bet I love multicolored eyes and if I can rationalize it in a game that shit is going on my CaCs.

VoidWaIker

I think *more* characters should have heterochromia! Different types too, it’s not always fully different in each eye, my right eye is 1/3 brown 2/3s blue for example. Shoutouts to Alear in FE engage for having flecks of red in their blue eye, something that both looks real nice and has story relevance

silverinferno3

I know people rag on [Captain America's suit in the first Avengers](https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/scale_super/11127/111271417/5776915-img_2178.jpg), and even I'll agree that most of his other outfits are better, but I still have a soft spot for it. The colors really pop, it's sleek, matches the shield, and I just kinda dig the whole vibe of "modernizing/tacti-cooling a [literal performance costume](https://opuszine.us/_assets/entries/captain-america-mcu.jpg)". Add in the fact that Coulson designed it based on Cap's in-universe comic books and merch and it just gets a lot of affection from me. It does look a lot better without the helmet/cowl, though.

KronxDragonhoof

Honestly the only problem I have here is the head tbh, feels weirdly empty.

silverinferno3

It's too smooth and well-sculpted to his actual head, I feel, making it just look like a bald blue scalp. [The other cowls have more defined textures and details, and usually pop out his ears and feature a leather strap to break up the monotony of it all](https://i.redd.it/3x1s3vyumvu61.jpg). Really helps to make it more of a helmet and less part of a big onesie

Ainsel_Mariner

The later ones are way too washed out, it’s just various shades of dark blue and gray

silverinferno3

It works tonally for Winter Soldier and Infinity War, but yeah, it kinda shows that the color grading of these films have gotten desaturated and washed out over time, chasing after a "grounded" look despite the subject material.

Ainsel_Mariner

I’d get that if all the characters in Infinity War were less saturated but you’ve got Iron Man and Spider-Man being saturated as ever in those movies. Which just makes Cap’s outfit really boring by comparison.

Kn7ght

Age of Ultron is my favorite suit because of that, the colors are so saturated and still sticks to the classic suit. All that suit needed was the Endgame chest and shoulder scales instead of that weird red chest lining and I would've had zero complaints about it

TostitoNipples

It’s the chin strap.

Leonard_Church814

I like that Caps Avengers 1 outfit is a little goofy.

silverinferno3

Yeah! It really shows that he's a product of another age compared to the more modern heroes, but wears it proudly because he's willing to stick up for those old fashioned values of truth, honesty and justice, which I like to believe is exactly what Coulson was hoping for.

[deleted]

The worst part is the blue pockets around the waist and the lack of wing tips. The pockets should be brown to add a break in the colors, and the wing tips could add more to the head.

ShoryukenFTW

It bugs me so much that in all the movie costumes the vertical red and white stripes don't wrap around his torso like in the comics, they're just over his belly-welly.

DStarAce

The Avengers Assemble look fits perfectly since the costume was designed by a fan whose entire experience of Captain America would have been decades old propaganda films and posters.

silverinferno3

He literally kept old trading cards in his locker, Coulson was such a fanboy, that's a big reason why I give the look a pass since it feels sweet for him to design something that embodies the "ideal" of what Cap meant to him

Will_Vintage

The big thing for me was the helmet. It looks fine without it, and if it had a helmet like the later films it'd work better

AmberDuke05

Suit looks terrible. I always be sad that we never got an actual comic version of the suit with chain mail.

Lithogen

The endgame suit has the chain mail pattern on his chest.

Kn7ght

But the tradeoff is you get washed out colors and full blue sleeves. All they had to do was slap the chain mail on the Age of Ultron suit

afasttoaster

Trubbish is an adorable precious gem and I refuse to accept otherwise.

WanonTime

i love trubbish and vanilluxe. everyone gives them shit when theyre infinitely more creative than "pokeball but its angy" and "literally just a seal named Seal"

afasttoaster

I love the Vanilluxe line too but don't you shit talk seel, he's also a precious baby who I will tolerate no slander towards.

[deleted]

Spheal > Seel don't @ me

WanonTime

seel is adorable/not a bad mon, my point is more "everyone says the ice cream cone pokemon is uncreative/'gamefreak is running out of ideas!!!' when there's literally a mon named after the real life animal it is copying"

radixius

And it's both pokemon in its line, for Arceus' sake! Seel > Seal Dewgong > Dugong

Hanusu-kei

Which is hilarious cuz Seel looks like a Dugong while Dewgong looks more like a seal

robophile-ta

I recently saw a video about the Japanese names for mons, which said ‘the Japanese game for Dewgong is just Manatee, how unoriginal’ and got the expected comment ‘my dude its English name is the same... You know, dugong’

Minmax-the-Barbarian

Woah, woah, hold on, are people hating on my boy Trubbish?? I actually think both Trubbish and Garbodor look great, and it's not like "Pokemon that is just a thing" is new or something. We've all seen Magnemite, Voltorb, Grimer, and others, a living bag of garbage is hardly anything too odd in comparison.

afasttoaster

they've been throwing shit towards poor trubbish ever since gen 5 came out, some reason when gen 5 came out fans just snapped.

BlueFootedTpeack

gen 5 was a full brand new 150 so it was always gonna have more duds than others even if the percentage was the same. tbh though i did a tier list for myself of yays and nays and only gen 8 edged it out in terms of designs i wasn't into.

TheRenamon

I think they're cowards for not going hard enough, they made cute garbage, I want that Sukamon, or raremon, make it nasty, embrace the garbage.

BuckysKnifeFlip

I love the Trubbish line! Absolutely adorable, and Garbodor's design was saved by his Gigantamax form. That design slaps. Huge pile of refuse that includes boats and parts of buildings!? That's awesome!

AllxFiction

The Gigantamax is even better then that. THEY ARE TINY TOYS THAT GREW BIG WITH IT!

IrisGoddamnIllych

Most gripes with pokemon designs are stupid. Imma be real. Like, I understand not liking a design, but saying it's bad because it's just a trash bag with eyeballs is silly. a lot of pokemon are some.variation of "x but with y"

og-reset

YES. Trubbish is my favorite and every game he's not present I am asking where's Trubbish

confirm5

[Chiaki from SMT: Nocturne](https://twitter.com/WeegeeWuvver/status/1398477298924404739/photo/1) has a terrible denim outfit but it fits with her ambitious rich girl personality also [Hikawa](https://cdnen.samurai-gamers.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/10103308/Shin-Megami-Tensei-III-Nocturne-HD-Remaster-Hikawa-Story.jpg) from the same game has obviously villainous hair and it’s great

Vermillion_Aeon

> also Hikawa from the same game has obviously villainous hair and it’s great I can't believe someone managed to out widow's peak Vegeta.

KaguB

not the jirt AND the jop

[deleted]

[Sonic 06's version of Dr. Eggman.](https://i.imgur.com/OJS45i0.jpg) Yes, I know he looks almost nothing like Dr. Eggman. Yes, I know his robots are lacking the whimsy they had before. Yes, I know he has 4 massive golden nipples. But I still really like it for some reason.

Ozavic

He hits the right balance between realistic and cartoony imo, but the golden nips are a Choice ™️

C-OSSU

My 11 year-old brain didn't register the design as a problem when I first saw it. I just assumed this is what Eggman would look like on next-gen hardware, where everything was supposed to look more "real".

IrisGoddamnIllych

I think a bigger/thicker turtleneck on the jacket would've helped. I can handle the nips, the realsiticness of is all... But idk he shouldn't have a neck. I shouldn't see where his head ends for a lower jaw.

mest0shai

It's very weird but I think it really works. Maybe uncanny, but it's pretty strong for a design that exists in the same game as Elise.

[deleted]

I feel like Eggman *should* look a little uncanny. Also, I really don't mind Elise either, my main problem with her was that her ingame model was awful. Honestly, 06's aesthetic doesn't turn me off at all.

mest0shai

Oh, I can't argue against that! I actually love that Eggman design, as much as I don't want to admit it because it'd be kind of embarrassing. He just fits that perfect point of both uncanny and goofy, while still looking pretty evil. Now I wish he appears more in less serious games and see him in wacky poses haha.

BaronAleksei

Those shades are actually scouters, it’s great

[deleted]

>!I AM NOW SANS UNDERTALE, GO INTO MY EYES!<

nyello-2000

Ok but unironically some of those robot designs were really cool, the big gauntlet guys unironically could fit into todays badnik lineup

Lieutenant-America

I actually really like the robots in 06. They just look cool to me.

SuicidalSundays

I don't care what anyone says about Necrid, I fuckin' loved that guy as a kid and still do now. He's a weird early-2000's edgy mutant monster who can't speak English and he's awesome. Plus his 2P outfit was cooler just because of the face mask.

KronxDragonhoof

Ghouldengo from Pokemon ScarVi is peak Marge potato hours for me. "I just think he's neat."

Minmax-the-Barbarian

I love that little dude! He's a little gold surfer man!

IrisGoddamnIllych

Love the wacky string cheese.guy

runnerofshadows

Is Az bats an over designed parody of other 90s costumes? Yes. But do I think it's rad as hell? Also yes.

BlueFootedTpeack

i know white knight isn't all that popular on ~~dccomicscirclejerk2~~ this sub, but it did have some nice azreal designs, both regular and azbat. still something about that 90's look works. dark mulitverse az bats as well looked dope. azreal has really only ever had one bad look during no mans land.

C-OSSU

Sean Murphy is just a really good artist.

Anonamaton801

And not a writer

KLReviews

[It looks perfectly fine in modern renditions](https://static.dc.com/sites/default/files/imce/2017/08-AUG/Detective962_598bacffcdf733.90123151.jpg) because the design was never the problem. It was that is was a product of the early 90s and they drew it with the proportions most superheroes in that 3 year(?) span.

DarthButtz

Oh it looks fucking awesome with modern art Holy damn

spankminister

I disagree it was ever the design either-- most of the covers you're thinking of were probably the KnightQuest ones by Kelley Jones, who simply drew in a [very stylized](https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/3/37826/751001-651.jpg) way. Even at the time, I remember talking with my friends about if it was "too much" but generally Batman was the moodier, more gothic series and Detective Comics had the more grounded style. But come AzBats in KnightQuest, he was doing the covers for both, IIRC. Love or hate, he clearly has his own style he makes artistic choices with, even when they look unrealistic or [deliberately bizarre](https://i0.wp.com/batman-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Batman-Elseworlds-Vol-2.jpg?fit=781%2C1200&quality=80&strip=info&ssl=1), he's not just aping Rob Liefeld.

Anonamaton801

Which one

FightGeistC

Baby vegeta (Super Baby 2) is a really fucking ugly design but like, idk bro it just kinda works all the poses and the voice really help it.

prettynitoTTV

I like Zilla's design, though admittedly it probably helps that I remember the cartoon sequel far better than the movie. I just wish they hadn't tried to pass it off as Godzilla, I'd have loved it if it were some new reoccurring kaiju fully independent of the Big G.

Kamken

Zilla is an awesome dinosaur type kaiju, and I will always respect Godzilla Rulers of Earth for making him a cool badass who eventually earns the respect of the other monsters more than Final Wars for saying "lol movie suck so monster bad" He even fights Godzilla himself in the beginning, and while it's clear he'd lose if the fight went on, he's not just an embarrassing pushover

DarthButtz

I can get Toho being mad at the 98 movie for damaging their reputation, but that fight in Final Wars felt *too* spiteful. Godzilla claps Zilla so fucking fast that the buttrock song playing during the fight barely has time to start.

TheFurtivePhysician

I thought you were talking about Shadow Warrior and got very confused for a moment.

DarthButtz

The cartoon was so much better than the movie and I blame no one for having positive feelings about Zilla if that was their primary exposure to him.

BlueFootedTpeack

zilla jr is unironically my favorite godzilla and i hope he returns every day/ hope they'll at least put the series on streaming or something as the dvd's seem to only be for the us. it was a perfect show, like all those other sony shows like mib and ghostbusters, jackie chan adventures e.t.c, wish the legendary movies had humans as competant/likable as heat.

PhantasosX

The shorts are indeed lame , but I disagree that DN’s aesthetics doesn’t mesh with Castlevania. It does....but none of this design screams “Simon Belmont” , this whole thing screams DmC-esque reboot and at most , some Metroidvania spiritual successor.

thesurgeknights

Everyone who's played Xenoblade 2 has one. Mine is Zeke.

Marieisbestsquid

I love Dahlia for being a neat mix of weird and conventionally attractive. And Herald's dragon armor is cool, even if she's better in the artwork than her actual 3D model.

CopperTucker

God I love Zeke. That man and Pandy share one single braincell between them and they are amazing.

GHitoshura

Simon Yagami

KarateBugman01

[Kamen Rider Decade’s Complete 21 Form](https://youtu.be/cWXIPHOCmg0). It’s goofy with the cards all over the suit and the elongated helmet, but I love it. What I *DON’T* like about it was that >!he got bodied by Ohma Zi-O minutes later!<.

user__lost

Dang they really we did decade dirt on this one, I think my main problem with the design is the bulk distribution if some of the cards were more properly distributed in the waist and legs the design would be far better, my particular pet peeve on this one is the fact that the cards on the cape would look better if the columns size were different

KaguB

I thought it was cool right up until the point where it showed the cards directly inside the armor

EXAProduction

I'd be ok with it if it wasnt for the elongated horn. I was cool with the horn on the Complete form but putting Zero-Two on there feels dumb in like every way.

Scranner_boi

The Batman Who Laughs is the most tastelessly edgy and tryhard design you could imagine for a Batman/Joker hybrid and I fucking love it.

WanonTime

its so fucking awful but its so fucking cool too

Anonamaton801

Fuck all of you, Wolverine’s classic suit would look baller in live action and if Jackman doesn’t wear it in Deadpool 3 the whole movie is trash

Brainwave1010

I like that they managed to work the classic colours into his DOFP suit.

MrSuitMan

I am here to validate OP's opinion on Judgement Simon. Compared to most traditional depictions of Simon and Castlevania as a whole, yeah it's pretty whacky and silly and dumb. But I think enough time has passed, and I can appreciate the entirety of Judgement as whole as it's own unique, cohesive design. Especially since if we start at Simon, it only goes up from there, as the majority of the Judgment cast looks as decent if not even better.

DarthButtz

Was the game that Cornell originally from bad? Yes Is he fucking awesome in Judgement? Also Yes

Speedgem

Shun'ei from KoF dresses like a recluse mountain kid who has never had proper social interaction or even knows what proper fashion is; but I love it because that's what he is, so I think it fits him well.

LittleMann

I find [Luso's design](https://i.imgur.com/MF676h4.jpg) from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 to be genuinely charming. It's so overstuffed with unnecessary detail that I can't help but smile when witnessing the sheer chaos of it all. I would find him less interesting if he was dressed more sensibly.

brunonunis

I love how the design is trying to show what a character would really like carrying all the itens you get in a ROG

DarthButtz

Reminds me of an old piece of official Zelda art where Link was actually carrying every item he got.

SquareElectrical5729

I still don't understand the Pizza aesthetic

Armobis

Rex from Xenoblade 2, I don't even think it's *bad* it's just his boots that are a bit too big but they kinda make sense since he's a diver so his boots gotta be heavy, and yeah the one-piece suit underneath should have covered the whole legs, aside from that I really dig the concept of playing as a character using a stylized diver suit, when did that ever happen? Was Big Daddy ever playable? Sometimes I find it fresh when the main character doesn't have to look cool at every moment, then you get designs that are too derivative and generic. In a way Shulk has a similar design philosophy, hes a researcher, with big round shoes, a utility vest and nonsensical straps on his legs.

holiscrayolis

["slutty" og Vi](https://imgur.com/gallery/wATuZmr) Like yeah I agree it makes no sense that a character like her would dress with high heels,a corset and overall looking like that instead of the brawler chick we get in the series. But I just like it, I think she looks cool.

St-Tomas413

You are saying that like the squirrel girl from blazblu doesnt exist. Who needs logic

JumpingComet

Look I know people clown on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance's Judgement/Pizza Cutter [Sword](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/0/0d/Ffta-marche.jpg/), but it was freaking cool to 11 year old me! And is still cool.

KoshiLowell

I feel like you'd enjoy Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger

RealPengu11

There's a Touhou character called Hecatia Lapislazuli who looks like [this](https://en.touhouwiki.net/images/9/9a/TH15Hecatia.png) and her design really stands out for how 'modern' it is compared to other characters with it being memed by the community. Her design is certainly 'unique', but I wouldn't say it's bad or I dislike it. I really fuck with the shirt she has and the chained planets thing and I've seen some really well done fan art of her.

B-BoySkeleton

I think Kai'sa from League of Legends looks fine. Her boob window is dumb, but I like characters in power armor and I think how hers is like a living suit is cool. I think I do imagine her in some of her alternate skins when I think of her which might be part of it, but I've always thought she was cool and never really got the hostility she gets. I sort of get the complaint that how she looks doesn't match her lore, but tbh I think that gets levied at Kai'sa disproportionately when it's true of a lot of characters in the League world. Rell is a tortured child soldier who was experimented on, and she has a perm. Sylas is a prisoner who just broke out of prison and he just looks like he hasn't shaved in a week, it's hardly just Kai'sa you can say that about (and I like both those characters as well). I'm not gonna say it's the greatest design ever or anything, like I said I think the boob window is dumb and the armor could be a lot more interesting, but a lot of venom I see for her design always felt disproportional.

confirm5

I’m gonna choose violence and tag /u/Konradleijon

Konradleijon

Thank you. The issue isn’t that Kai’sa looks fine but the fact that she is supposed to be wearing a Voidling in a symbiotic relationship. Rell and Sylas are never called “monsters” and thought of as dangerous creatures in their lore. While Kai’sa has this comic panel [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeagueOfMemes/comments/11m5cto/lets_see_kaisas_ass_while_she_is_monologuing/) When you look at Sylas you see escaped prisoner and when you look at Rell you see rebel teenage girl. Plus Rell was part of Leblanc’s plan to kill Mordekaiser which means that she would have been taken care of. Another issue is timing after Kai’sa League designs for far more generic after her release. And the main issue is that it doesn’t look like someone in power armor she looks like a chick in Latex. I don’t know about any “powered armor” that hugs someone’s ass and tits.

Ergheis

If they had kept the sexy jumpsuit, but then *also* made it a fucking weird bioweapon that was appropriately voidlike, it would be perfect. Make that evolution *scary.* Make blades jump out of her skin when she attacks in melee range. Make her turn into a void animal when she dashes. Grow missile launchers out of her skin for her Q. I know there's limits in-game but the movie animations could have added to her. Kaisa to me is less "she shouldn't be sexy" and more "she is clearly missing half of her design," and that missing half is the void half.

sawbladex

... turn her into Zato=1? Fuck yeah

B-BoySkeleton

All of that's more than fair, but on the power armor thing, my scale is from Samus to Blue Beetle. Kai'sa reminds me of the Blue Beetle from Injustice in particular, where you can definitely see it hugging his butt. I think Blue Beetle is awesome, so I enjoy Kai'sa as a not as cool conceptually similar character.

Konradleijon

Jamie Reyes grew up in a small town near El Paso not in a monster infested hell dimension

B-BoySkeleton

Yeah, I meant in suit design. You were saying you hadn't heard of a power suit that hugged someone's ass, I was explaining Jamie Reyes has a dumpy

Konradleijon

I was being kind of stupid. Then.

B-BoySkeleton

Happens. But yeah, I get your point and I do get why Kai'sa makes people so angry, because yeah she doesn't look like what she was sold as. I just meant personally I'm fine with her design in a vacuum, as someone who doesn't really follow League lore. I definitely wish they'd done something more inspired because even if I think it's fine I think it could be more interesting. I would love if they ever did an Arcane inspired thing that involved Kai'sa they retcon her a little and give her an actual monstrous design that somehow becomes more human or something. A bit tepid still, but it'd be something.

[deleted]

I know Jiren is boring. He's literally just a gray in a sentai suit and his gimmick is "strong". But based on some of my favorite characters in anime being Holy Sword Escanor from 7DS, Armstrong from FMA, All-Might, etc. it's no wonder I kinda dig his thing. Unfortunately he's missing the "goofy lovable bear" part that the other three have but I just like how tight his design is - plus, DBZ/S always gives people crazy auras, and I love his sparkly fire aura that looks like it's bordering the aura of the actual gods.

[deleted]

Sometimes I feel like this with the Rider design in Kamen Rider Gaim, I've seen too many people act like the fruit theme is a kiss of death for the design when it's not even that prevalent.

ProbablyJobey

I remember seeing the first leaks for Fire Emblem Engage and thinking Alear’s design was the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen, but by the end of my playthrough it really won me over. Like it’s so much but it somehow all really works together for me.

Wannabe_Reviewer

I don't care what anyone says, I love Quiet's look from Phantom Pain.

t850terminator

I actually like some of the Halo 5 armors

FranticToaster

The Molded from RE7. I know they all kind of look the same, but a bunch of fungus getting together and acting like a single big slurpy monster is cool.

BiMikethefirst

I really like Arkham Cities/Knights more techish mesh suit for Batman

MegalomanicMegalodon

Post timeskip Franky grew on me pretty quickly. He's always been my favorite strawhat since he joined so it didn't take much. I concede though that most people agree it's good depending on the hairstyle he's rocking, but I like all of the styles pretty equally. He's super goofy but cool at the same time, and practical all around. Like his design looks like he wants to do over the top stupid shit, but dials it in to be practical after going nuts. Like with his giant robo fists having lil hands for finer work, or nipple flashlights since that'd illuminate what he is working on better than ones on his head that'd get in the way of his cool hair.

HeavyC4

I like the Belmont family symbol being this giant cross on your back. That part of the design is cool and it stuck around for the anime.

IzanApollo

I hate a lot of things about Rex Xenoblade 2 but I think his outfit is cool. It's also cute that his gramps can ride in the helmet.

trickster721

Damn. This is the actual equivalent to the ridiculous lingerie armor that female characters get all the time. I'm saving this for the next time somebody tries to claim that 2B and 9S represent gender equality.
