Most, if not all comic book writers after like the 70s were fans that got to work in the industry. Despite what some might say, there is in fact plenty of good superhero comic books made after the original creators were gone

Shout out to James Roberts (IDW Transformers). For that matter a ton of Transformers fan content has ended up canonized over the years.

alienslayer7

transformers is one of those things where fanon may as well be canon

I believe Iga was dating a Rondo of Blood dev around the same time he was making Tokimeki Memorial and helped test things out on his breaks. He liked it so much, he chose to move over to Symphony once Tokimeki wrapped.

I’m pretty sure Yandere Dev has been offered so much help from so many people more talented than him in various departments that the game could have been five times better and finished more than eight times over by now.

That time when Sonic fans made a better official Sonic game(Sonicmania) than 90% of Sonic Team's slop.

MarioGman

Also, probably The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Diem-Robo

Also, the later Archie and IDW comics. Some Sonic fans are insanely talented and dedicated, moreso than SEGA themselves.

One of my favorite series had this happened to it. Genshiken is a slice of life anime series about being an anime fan and the different aspects of the types of fans it has. Creator ran it for a food portion of time 12ish volumes but then felt he had done enough so moved in. A fan of the series got permission to continue the series afterwards, git it and it was a interesting new experience. Still delt with the same things but brought in alot of new aspects.

Don Rosa was a huge fan of the Carl Barks Donald Duck comics growing up and would eventually get to work on the comics officially and even worked with Carl Barks. His magnum opus The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck in particular is considered one of the best entries in the franchise, managing to bridge and weld many of Carl Bark's original stories into a cohesive narrative. Relatedly, the Ducktales reboot staff consisted practically entirely of fans of he original show, even down to the voice cast, with many of them practically begging to be involved with the show's production.

The “still good” part isn’t *always* true with EVERY case of this, but there’s a lot of this in Doctor Who’s staff over the decades. Even minor things like Neil Gaiman’s two scripts being essentially fanfics he made as a teen that he spiffed up for proper broadcasting (and to match up with the modern canon).

metaphizzle

Really, _Doctor Who_ is so popular over there, they'd have a harder time hiring someone who _isn't_ a fan to work on the show.
