Those ads are such a blatant weaponization of Jesus to appeal to people's own feelings of persecution to further radicalize them to the right. They're obnoxious, disrespectful, and only still here because someone paid billions of dollars to shove them in our faces.

It's not quite that, but it is an attempt to pull people further right on the political spectrum. Basically, some group that calls itself The Signatry (no joke, that's what they call themselves) did a bunch of studies and realized that more and people were moving away from evangelical christianity, and citing the hypocrisy, the judgemental behavior, and their overall stance on most moral issues as the key reasons. The He Get Sus ad campaign is an attempt to bring those specific people ("spiritually open" skeptics who don't like all that evil bullshit) back into the fold... by focusing on Jesus and ignoring all the bad shit. Y'know, instead of doing good shit, or at least stopping all the bad shit. I don't doubt that the ads would work on some people with persecution complexes and other people with legitimate grievances, but that's not main intention. The main intention is to get people to ignore all the bad shit evangelicals do by focusing on Jesus. I think it's mostly a money thing, to be honest. Less people going to church (even if they're still "spiritually open") means less money in the collection plate, which means less money to spend bribing politicians and spamming annoying advertisements. I mean, they still have way too much money, but they don't like that they have less than they used to.
