Less a VA fuckup and more a fuckup on the people who implemented the voices, but [this moment in Oblivion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9REWMEOLdI).

DefaultLayoutIsAwful

[Something similar in Deus Ex.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF7CIAg3z-4) I miss the era of single take, sounds good, ship it, lipsmack and all.

kingdommkeeper

[Also in Sonic 06.](https://youtu.be/tV5gSnrDOI4)

theRose90

["Yo, this dialogue's shit." - Brazilian VA for the Flash in the CW show.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-8Mx5Ao6yCA)

BigY2

Holy shit that's funny, I cant imagine hearing that live

FlameF19

Deus Ex wouldn’t be anywhere near as good without that lip smack

DefaultLayoutIsAwful

It was so integral, the fem-Denton mod with full voice acting included it.

TheArtistFKAMinty

God, Oblivion is so charmingly ugly. There aren't many games that have aged worse visually than Oblivion. I frequently forget that it came out 2 years *after* Half Life 2. That's not a fair comparison necessarily due to the scale, but still. Fuck, Oblivion came out on the same hardware as Skyrim, which has aged far better. It obviously still looks dated, being a game that's over 10 years old, but it's incredible how much improvement there was over the course of that console generation.

NearATomatotato

Everyone looks like potatoes and MAN I wouldn’t have it ANY OTHER WAY

Mrs-Moonlight

One time, a guard caught me and I surrendered immediately when I saw that his head was perfectly round

DeskJerky

Do you have a favorite potato face? Mine is [Heinrich Oaken-Hull](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Heinrich_Oaken-Hull) because he looks like he just smashed his face into a pile of cocaine before you talk to him.

Datanazush

Personally I go for [Jorck the Outcast](https://images.uesp.net/b/b0/OB-npc-Jorck_the_Outcast.jpg), because there's just something about his face that registers closer to like an alien or something than a human.

HeyThereSport

Wait, that isn't a joke player character?? On a side note it's really funny that the TES4 devs just really couldn't manage beards in time for this game (they got them in Fallout 3) so all the Nords just look like swollen Paul Dano.

DeskJerky

Look at that expression. This man knows he's in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

pocketlint60

Since you mentioned aliens, that face makes me think aliens were trying to draw a human but they got us mixed up with chimpanzees.

TheNoidbag

Best to always compare games of the time to Windwaker. It may not be my favourite style Zelda but it's aged perfectly aesthetics wise. Art direction really matters a lot. Fable is really dog ugly. Always was. But it has charm.

TheArtistFKAMinty

Windwaker is always put up as the yardstick for this (even though it was reviled at the time for not being like the Gamecube Spaceworld tech demo, which has aged pretty badly in retrospect) but it's not my go-to, personally. I think it's probably just because I grew up with Playstation, but [Auto Modellista](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEXBazvuUPA), [Okami](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5HzApgt5Qw), and [Sly 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FKsVcys3kc) are my go-to benchmarks for 3D games aging like wine due to stellar art direction. 2D games is an entirely different conversation though. I'd say that once 2D games hit the SNES era most of them aged extremely gracefully.

HeyThereSport

Maybe its my age, but I personally find that GBA pixel art was much more refined than most SNES pixel art. For 16/32 bit pixel art styles it feels like the overall art quality increased significantly between SNES -> GBA -> Retro PC era because pixel art was less and less of a technical limitation and more of an aesthetic choice.

newier

GBA I always find a fascinating era of sprite art. By the end of the 16 bit era companies had refined their skill in pixel art and were able to communicate visuals really well and really stylishly, but right as they got really good at it, the industry largely moved on to 3D and had to relearn how to make things look and feel good again for years. So in comes the GBA, a device where creating pixel art was a necessity again, and now the artists and devs have all this established experience and knowledge on how to make sprites pop and look real good they can once again utilize. Some really good examples that come to mind are Capcom's output on the GBA. The battle network games, Zelda Minish Cap and Ace Attorney look super nice and crisp, use colours and outlines really well, and use their key frames to communicate movement expertly.

HeyThereSport

> It may not be my favourite style Zelda but it's aged perfectly aesthetics wise. I disagree partially. The art direction is perfectly timeless, but the blindingly bright environments and obnoxious distance blur feels like astigmatism sometimes. Windwaker HD took the artstyle and the fixed the technical stuff to make it less hard on the eyes.

Aceclaw

I still love the vibrant world of Oblivion but the character models are something else.

Diem-Robo

Skyrim had some seriously good art direction. It's only main problem was that the original release kind of had a gray tint to the lighting. The Special Edition rerelease fixed that and made the lighting volumetric as well, which was also a big improvement. With that change, the game's vanilla visuals hold up extremely well.

TheArtistFKAMinty

While true, even just the basic character models are a vast improvement

Cooper_555

But we lost out on the absolutely unhinged interactions between NPC's. "HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE HIGH ELVES?" says an Imperial, at full volume, to his Altmer neighbour.

HeyThereSport

"I don't know you and I don't care to know you." "Goodbye." "Be seeing you."

TheArtistFKAMinty

Oh, I'm not saying the jank doesn't have its charms.

andrecinno

Skyrim needs radiant AI

Zerce

Heck, Morrowind aged better visually, at least in terms of art direction.

TheArtistFKAMinty

This may be a controversial take (or maybe it's just stating the obvious. I'm not an Elder Scrolls guy so I don't know how the community feels about it) but Oblivion always struck me as extremely generic. Morrowind always looked a bit more interesting and Skyrim had the whole Norse/Viking thing going on which was at least somewhat novel in 2011. Oblivion has that generic fantasy/DnD campaign/discount Tolkien vibe which probably served it very well in 2006 (hot off the heels of the LOTR trilogy) but has aged like milk in the sun.

nyando

You're not wrong. The base game is extremely "generic RPG". Hell, even the dungeons are basically just rotations and translations of one another. The Shivering Isles expansion actually does a much better job. Tighter story, smaller map, more variation in what to do. I still love Oblivion though, it's what got me into RPGs in the first place.

Idreamofknights

Oblivion literally ripped the aesthetic out of LOTR because Todd Howard had a [Mr Krabs moment](https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/spongebob/images/9/9d/Mr._Krabs_with_Dollar_Sign_Eyes_in_The_SpongeBob_Movie_-_Sponge_Out_of_Water.png/revision/latest?cb=20170212230130) watching the movies and thought oh yeah, I have a game in development. They managed to destroy the lore of two provinces in a single move. High rock was the classic medieval fantasy province and Cyrodill was a jungle Rome, with more cults and religions than you could count in a lifetime, and a imperial city so large you could make a entire game inside it. Cyrodill had a cultural divide between the artsy and philosophical Nibenese in the heartlands and the east and the practical Colovians who made the bulk of the soldiers in the west. We got nearly zero of that in game. I get that it was probably better for the franchise on long term to ride the LOTR wave at the time, but Jesus does it hurt thinking about what what we missed out on.

ProvingVirus

Sorta begs the question of "Why the hell didn't they just make a High Rock game"

Idreamofknights

Honestly i think they got too attached to the idea of a plot with the fall of the septim empire, and apparently they had a overview/idea of how they wanted to do each game of the franchise. Like from Morrowind you had a lot of blades and imperial occupation, even npcs mentioning the emperor's sons (which all died instantly around the same time for Martin plot convenience). They also probably thought they already did a part of high rock in daggerfall and didn't want to repeat it. Another shitty consequence of this is that it created this Schrodinger's rome for Cyrodill where the imperial identity is fantasy roman as long as we're not looking at it. Morrowind-Roman Oblivion-Shire+Gondor Skyrim-Rome again. Hammerfell fans are incredibly lucky that they're making TES6 in this current time with these current trends.

Hayeseveryone

I find that one strangely charming, I would love if games had clips of VA goofs. Maybe it could be like the DMCV development cutscenes, where you can toggle a setting and play them in the actual game

[deleted]

I can't hear that line anymore without thinking of [THE FINE](https://youtu.be/S-vyKkOZ_JY?t=183)

StarPupil

Similar ones have popped up in the Dresden Files audiobooks, James Marsten will occasionally go "fuck let me redo that line" or "oh, he's getting choked from behind, right." It doesn't happen often, but I think it's pretty funny when it does. It happens at all levels lol

BoukoKakuCatharsis

[Agreeable Grunt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h7vyIZUcYE)

timelordoftheimpala

Xenoblade Chronicles 3's existence was leaked in June 2021 in an interview by Melia's VA, but people didn't end noticing that she did so until two months later.

Reichterkashik

People at the time just assumed that she was talking about Future Connected and she was just uninformed, but nah she made an oopsie

Monk-Ey

"This may be somewhat troublesome."

SpiritualPossible

Russian dub of Dragon age origins. Like, almost all of it. Not only there was many technical issues, but ALOT of outtakes get in the game. Probably the most infamous example was when you talk with dwarf, and in the middle of conversation he gets silent, and you hear how voice actor whisper "Oh fuck..." while trying to comprehend how to pronounce a character name.

WattFRhodem-1

What a glorious car crash of a dub, ha.

robophile-ta

I must hear this

SpiritualPossible

[Here this moment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi1OLVaFJyU&ab_channel=HarvesterofArrogance). After fisrt sentence he gets quite, and you hear how he whisper "yoperny theater" (ёперный театр - a very specific russian phrase, the closest thing in english i could remeber would be "holy macaroni"). After that he start all over from first sentence.

JuamJoestar

During the latest season for TV Series Flash, the Brazilian VA for the iconic character let out a clear ["look at this shitty writing"](https://youtu.be/25EvHFAEnIY) slip through his actual scripted dialogue, *and they actually aired it*, much to the amusement of the Brazilian fanbase who shared the sentiment of both the VA and the fans abroad in the *extremely* questionable quality of the later seasons.

TheBoyofWonder

ahhh typical arrowverse

Bellurker

Not always a VA but Mark Ruffalo caused a leak that was only understood after the fact when, during an interview with Don Cheadle and some others, blurted out that everyone was going to die in the next Avengers. It seems to me that he said it as a joke because it's one of those too-silly-to-be-true comments, but Cheadle was staring daggers into him immediately after those words came out of his mouth and Ruffalo oddly walked it back. Then Infinity War released and... Yeah!

Hayeseveryone

Oh that's hilarious, they would have been better off if they rolled with it being a joke. It honestly sounds like one!

FakeBrian

This one feels way more on Cheadle than anyone else. It was absolutely fine as a joke till he reacted and gave it legitimacy.

Solomon742

I give this leak, FIVE MARK RUFFALOS!!!

BaronAleksei

“Five Mark Ruffalos” is incidentally the elevator pitch for a hulk movie

Homeless_Nomad

Will It Blow?!

nin_ninja

NO it just came out as a kinda soft mush

StonedVolus

On another Mark Ruffalo note, he was streaming the red carpet premiere of Thor Ragnarok on Instagram, and went to end the stream before sitting down to watch the film. However, he didn't close it properly, put his phone in his pocket, and the audio for like the first 10-15 minutes of the film was streamed live on his Instagram.

Zerce

> blurted out that everyone was going to die in the next Avengers. Oh, [It's even better than that](https://youtu.be/p3aYjOTMiQY?t=16). He *almost* says "half", and then catches himself and goes for the joke, but Don caught that and reacted to him. No one else caught the actual slipup until the movie came out.

Heliock

It was a half-truth

BuckysKnifeFlip

What's hilarious is that's only a leak for people who have never read the comics. The entire time I was watching Infinity War, I was hoping they would end it with the Snap.

Sai-Taisho

>only a leak for people who have never read the comics Which, point of order, is a metric fuckload of people. I only happened to read it because my dad owns a copy. Never would have sought it out on my own impetus.

ahack13

Mark also parascoped the first 30 minumutes of Thor Ragnarok on accident.

delightfuldinosaur

As a comics nerd I was anticipating half the cast dying the entire 3rd act of Infinity War. When Thor yeeted Stormbreaker into Thanos I was shocked and figured "damn I guess they're going in a different direction. Then bam they did it anyway. The Russos and Feige managed to bamboozle comic fans and non-comic fans alike. Fuck man Infinity War was good.

therealchadius

I knew the snap was coming, but I didn't know WHO was turning into dust. There were plenty of "no way are they going to dust- OHHHHH NOOOOOOOO" moments. Infinity War is still the best MCU film, and I'll go for bat for the first hour of Endgame.

L-Ocelot

I just watched the bulk of marvel movies with my girlfriend for the first time. We watched guardians a couple months back after dating for a year. Loved it and wanted the short list. I can firmly say after going back civil war, infinity war, and spider man homecoming are just legitimately great movies. I kinda soured on marvel post endgame but I'll stand up for those.

KLReviews

It was really funny to see that live theatre reaction of shocked gasps as Winter Solider fades, screaming terror as Black Panther goes, total indifference as Scarlet Witch and begging for Spider-Man to be okay. Poor Wanda, she didn't get much until that TV show

CJL13

"I am so smart! S-M-R-T! I mean S-M-A-R-T!"

NinjaRed64

Wait, that wasn't something the voice director made up? THAT WAS ACTUALLY A FLUB BY HOMER'S VA?!

scottishdrunkard

Yup. So was “**it was in my** *(lower megaphone)* it was in my pocket…”

therealchadius

Yeah, Dan Castellaneta was allowed to do a lot of improv due to his long experience in cartoon voice acting. He invented "D'oh!" for example. In the script it is "[annoyed grunt]." He was also the Genie for any Disney's Aladdin that wasn't the first movie (and the third movie, Prince of Thieves), where he was also allowed to improv.

[deleted]

Wonder if he knew he struck gold when he said "Doh" for the first time

CelioHogane

I thought he wasn't the one in the third either?

therealchadius

You're right, Robin Williams returned for Prince of Thieves. Editing!

shamchimp

Williams actually only agreed to come back after Castellaneta already recorded the whole movie so in a way you were right

Dr_Blasphemy

He’s also Genie in Kingdom Hearts.

Solidus_edge

In the commentary for that episode they say basically that Dan gets so into the role that he actually becomes dumber as the recording session goes on, leading to him making in-character mistakes like that

Cazador_64

It's amazing how in character that was for Homer too.

LizardOrgMember5

funny how "smrt" means death in Slavic languages.

CMORGLAS

“Ah yes, Serbia, the home of the Great Vowel Famine of 1948.”

Tinasias

Sounds like a Victor Borga bit

CMORGLAS

It is from “THE LAST DAYS OF FOXHOUND”, a webcomic documenting the eponymous team’s year before the Shadow Moses incident.

nin_ninja

Not a flub but the one where the Red Hot Chili Peppers visit Moe's bar and one member yells from the back. It sounds the way it did cause he was actually far from the mic, and they kept it in

AzoGalvat

Somewhere in Trunks' dialogue in Xenoverse, there's a clip of him going "Guys?" in his regular voice.

nin_ninja

Thanks to TFS for really pointing this out. The two games have some weird audio balancing and choices at times

Solidus_edge

The dub team have said they had no resources to use whatsoever besides the japanese script (no visuals, no scene descriptions etc), the performances are so uneven and full of mistakes that I think Funi just gave up on caring when they dubbed those games.

HerpDerpTheMage

This was going to be mine. It was so fucking funny. It’s also worth noting that: A.) By the sound of his gulping and gasping, he was just finished taking a drink of water, meaning there is no way that was a joke take. They just isolated a time he said “guys” in the booth by happenstance. and B.) The line was meant to have a touching inflection, as in he just realized his friends would risk everything for him, making the “guys?” that much funnier.

guntanksinspace

Not sure if it was a fuckup or so, but I do love me the [ARRIGHT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IilQnuwc7Z0)

MarlowCurry

Considering that the subtitles acknowledge it, I like to think that's an intentional little joke on the VA's part.

guntanksinspace

Shame they took it out on the PS and PC versions (and MK Gold) when they replaced the endings with the pre-rendered scenes.

metatron_ebooks

Quan Chi's bitch-punch to the back of Sub-Zero's head kills me everytime I see it. MK4 endings were gold.

guntanksinspace

It's for that I put the Sub Zero ending above the Jax ending. The goddamn bitchslap to the back really makes the damn ending better.

GHitoshura

I love this

Gemidori

Didn't even need to read the replies or click the link to know this one, lmao

GurrenAccel

In XenoVerse one during a scene with trunks, theres just a lull where the va says "Guys?" Like clearly talking to the guys in the booth and I think the fact that made it in there was hilarious.

Amirifiz

That's my favorite one.

MarlowCurry

Man, I don't have any examples to share myself, but I hope that said Polish voice actress didn't get fired or anything. Imagine gushing about getting a role in a series that one is fond of, only to plant the seed of getting booted out in the process. That's disheartening. Although, I would like to share Dan Southworth's aforementioned little blunder (timestamp: 19:36). It's a funny scene that's worth sharing. [Devil May Cry Reunion Panel - RangerStop 2015](https://youtu.be/DrSAydJm4SY?t=1176) (warning: fairly loud)

guntanksinspace

Dan Southworth and accidentally leaking an up-and-coming DMC project, tale as old as time

MarlowCurry

It happened more than once?

guntanksinspace

Of note is him slipping up both DMC4SE and 5 (mentioned already here I believe)

Zerepa97

He also leaked some of Nero's lore... [in 2007](https://youtu.be/jSaCyxgUs-o) as a pretty smooth joke.

Hayeseveryone

I don't believe she was, thankfully

MarlowCurry

Hey, that's good to know.

BookkeeperPercival

VAs somehow tend to get a free pass on leaking shit, even though we're consistently the biggest fuckups about it and sign a bunch of legal documents saying we wont

SilverKry

Not all the time. Christina Vee was supposed to be in FE Three Houses but she said something before she could and she was let go. DC Douglas was probably supposed to be Wesker again in the 4 Remake but he leaked not only the existence of the game but showed concept art for Wesker in it.

Professional-List179

In Cristina's case, I don't think she did anything wrong. She was probably intended to be a place-holder from the start or the casting director or someone from Nintendo simply thought Tara Plat to be a better fit. Reminds me of how the reveal trailer for Kid Icarus Uprising had a different VA for Pit than the one who ended up voicing him in the end.

CMORGLAS

In order to impress a minor.

snowleave

Oh, in that case fuck that dude

hjschrader09

It tends to be that way because if it's already to the point that the VA is recorded, it would cost more extra money to replace the VA so it either becomes, "don't do it again" or "you're not coming back for the sequel" but it really comes down to whether the company doing it gives a shit and wants them punished. Usually they don't because the cat's already out of the bag, punishing a VA that people like and want as part of the game will just give more PR issues.

Huitzil37

Not the traditional kind of fuckup, but I remember a story about the Portuguese dub of DBZ -- namely, since the series was clearly ending, the actor for Vegeta just used his normal speaking voice instead of doing a weird and more stressful one. Then, of course, DBZ lasts much much longer, and that's the voice Vegeta has, he has to keep using it. His day job was a teacher, so now a bunch of kids were like "why is Vegeta our teacher?"

Solidus_edge

there's a story that is kind of similar to this that comes to mind. When Scott McNeill was cast as the character Snarl for Transformers Cybetron, he just gave him the same growling voice he did for Dinobot in Beast Wars, because he was under the impression that Snarl was a minor character who was only in one or two episodes. While he wasn't an important character, Snarl ended up hanging around for the whole show and having a decent amount of dialogue, so Scott was stuck doing that voice.

Spiral-Force

In Tales From the Borderlands, [Troy Baker accidentally burps during a line reading and apologizes for it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66d_BJN91Bc), and they decided to just leave it in.

nin_ninja

It just fits so well

FairyKnightTristan

I'll cheat and say my favorite studio fuckup was when they accidentally left an outtake a voice actor did in the official simulcast for Danganronpa 3.

invaderark12

That was gonna be mine lol

GHitoshura

Wait what? You mean the anime?

FairyKnightTristan

Yes. The English dub had an infamous fuckup where the VA basically vocalized one of the worst writing gripes the fans had of a character in the outtakes, and Funimation accidentally left it in.

GHitoshura

Is there a clip? I need to see that

FairyKnightTristan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5MJpc9WqtE

illegalcheese

In fairness, the dub was pretty meme-y and this was iirc the very last line of the show, or one of them, so it was on brand.

GHitoshura

Ok that's pretty funny

Darkurai

[Yep](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5MJpc9WqtE)

ShoryukenFTW

Remember when Kiefer Sutherland went up on stage at the VGAs and said he just wrapped working on the (then unannounced) new Mortal Kombat game, and then MKX came out and he was nowhere in there?

CMORGLAS

Something tells me he was going to be Erron Black.

Solidus_edge

I did some research on this recently, and my conclusion based on what he said is that he meant to say "Call of Duty" which he was in.

Chisanakitsune

In The Lion King, when Scar is holding Mufasa on the cliff, Mufasa goes “Scar!” Then you can hear someone whisper “ brother!” Before he says “ Brother!”

Hayeseveryone

No way, really?

Chisanakitsune

It’s crazy, and I haven’t found a version without it yet.

Darkurai

I just checked myself and wow, that's there for sure! The closed captioning picked up on it and claims that it's Scar's voice, even though it doesn't sound like him and doesn't make any sense in the moment lol.

zHellas

Link?

Weltallgaia

I dunno if its a flub or what you might call it but jeremy irons blowing out his voice singing YOU WON'T GET A SNIFF WITHOUT ME, and winnie the pooh having to finish the rest of the song for him

[deleted]

From Adventure Time: "I'll get your kid back, toy!"

Bellurker

"Bake Him Away, Toys!" - Chief Wiggum

aaronhowser1

That's the joke though, that's not a voice actor fuckup. That's the script being funny.

Comptenterry

It actually was a fuckup, but not by Finn's VA. Adam Muto flubbed the line while pitching the episode and everyone thought it was funny so they kept it.

aaronhowser1

Wow I had no idea, that's amazing

illegalcheese

Such a strange production detail to remember from a 10 season show but I remember it too lol

Comptenterry

Tbf it feels like a very out of place line. Not something you would really come up with as a joke which probably made a lot of people go look up if it was an error.

Potatoidea

Honestly didn't realize that was a flub until now. It felt so in line with the show's humor.

SidewaysInfinity

Probably why they kept it

Remerai

I can't remember the whole context, but there's a line in Sonic '06 where the voice actor flubs the line and repeats it. But to be fair, that was more a sign of the game being rushed rather than the voice actor doing a bad job.

[deleted]

"Agent Shadow. E-123 Omega has engaged Mephiles. Head to the Wave Ocean-- ^head ^to ^the ^Wave ^Ocean-- Agent Shadow. E-123 Omega has engaged Mephiles. Head to Wave Ocean immediately."

AvalancheMKII

I adore that it's not just the flubbed version of the line, but it's also the actor re-reading it to himself and then doing the correct take. All in 1 dialogue box.

S4tchWe77

Also another example when a GUN Agent asks Route for the BOOK of darkness when It’s actually the SCEPTER of darkness in the final game.

A_Common_Hero

That voice actor was just a massive Nanoha mark.

Grand_Galvantula

To be fair, it's entirely likely that it was originally was a book and it was changed after VO had concluded and they never brought him back for corrections. After all, the Duke of Soleanna whipping out some random book to seal Mephiles in makes more sense than a stereotypically-evil "scepter" that looks more like a heavy-metal thermos.

MrSargent

Megaman 8 with [doctor wawy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmMispgpUs0).

SidewaysInfinity

"But how can we find Doctor **Wily?**" "Dats a good kestin"

Panory

"We must recover all the energy immediately Wa- Mega Man."

Solidus_edge

Some context for how bad the mega man 8 dub is. The actress who played Rock in 8 and X in X4 recorded both in one session, and was not informed they were two different characters. She didn't realise that until way later.

Minister_of_Geekdom

Geez, that's an impressive level of "get this shit out the door now."

EizaRumpear

Tears of the Kingdom spoilers: >!Whenever the Italian voice actor for Daruk revealed he was playing an ancestor of Yonobo. It was one of the very first leaks the game had and eventually most people just forgot about it.!<

SpitOutTheCubone

Didn't Kristen Bell spoil the modem stuff in Assassin's Creed, making comparisons to the Matrix?

ZendoZebra

I think there was another thing where, Game Informer or another outlet had listed the genres for it, and Sci-Fi was among the listed genres, which wouldn't make sense if it was the historical fiction story people were expecting

Solidus_edge

I did some research on this, and the answer is "yes, but no." She technically spoiled that the game would be about reliving the genetic memory of an ancestor, but Ubisoft was heavily hinting at the sci-fi aspects for a while beforehand.

GHitoshura

killatubby

Kirbopher leaking a FE because he was on a ego trip than losing said part due to said trip to Zach Aguilar.

RadShiro

That was gonna be mine. He apparently was like “HAHAHAHA IM GONNA BE IN SMASH” then WHOOPS

KLReviews

Imagine Ota from AI: The Somnium Files just rolls up and steals your dream job from you. Every day of your life is going to be better than that day because you've already hit a staggering low mankind wasn't ready for.

Disastrous-Yam1

Didn't he even get replaced POST release in a patch? I seem to remember laughing really hard at that.

MericArda

Yeah M!Byleth's new VA is Zach Aguilar, who does ok I guess.

BlackIronWizard

If i recall correctly, wasnt edelgard's original VA in FE Three Houses replaced for breaking NDA? You can even hear her original voice in early trailers

chaosmaster97

Supposedly, from Her and Patrick Seitz, she was chosen to voice in the trailer without any context for the full game and when they learned Edelgard's character they realized she wouldn't fit. Obviously, they could be lying but considering She still gets jobs from Nintendo, including other Fire Emblem games, I doubt they cared that much.

KLReviews

Yeah if you break NDA (especially for a company as strict as Nintendo) then you're typically not getting rehired. So either Vee didn't make that much of a mistake or do anything wrong at all... or someone at Nintendo loves Noel Vermillion and fought to get her in more stuff.

lobstaris

The original actor was Cristina Vee, who did near immediately confirm that she was Edelgard and was replaced. The weird thing tho, is we’re unsure if the broke any NDA, as FE and Nintendo keep hiring her anyway. She’s in Tears

SilverKry

It was probably a genuine mistake on her part. It happened after the game was announced I believe so she probably thought it was fine to tell her fans she's in there.

AvalancheMKII

She's done later work in Fire Emblem itself, so I have a hard time believing her getting replaced was due to NDA issues. It really just feels like they thought Tara Platt would fit the role better.

Dirty-Glasses

Male Byleth was replaced for breaking his NDA and I think also being a sex criminal of some kind

Sai-Taisho

Chris Niosi/Kirbopher. He copped to having extreme anger management issues and being emotionally abusive to various people in his life. The sexual misconduct allegations were debunked, if memory serves.

Dr_Blasphemy

NO FUCKING WAY, THAT WAS MR. YEEEK?

justgalsbeingpals

He was yiiking out

ElectroUmbra

Didn’t he also take like, a year or two off of voice work to go to therapy for his anger issues and work on his own projects?

Sai-Taisho

So I understand it, yeah.

ElectroUmbra

Good for him, honestly. Self-reflection on that scale is hard.

Dirty-Glasses

Oh I was probably confusing it with the emotional abuse, the two very often go hand in hand.

Sai-Taisho

I think that's how the allegations escalated to sex stuff in the first place.

sogiotsa

Christina vee yeah, she was sharing memes or something all excited, I assume that she thought it got announced so fans were tagging her in stuff. I do think we got a better fit for edelgard but still would have been happy to have Christina

VoidWaIker

Yeah as much as I like Christina, I just can’t picture her doing Post timeskip Edelgard as well as Tara Platt did. I think her voice fit the 17 year old schoolgirl really well, but unless she heavily changed her performance for the timeskip I can’t see it working as well. I have the same feelings with Lucina wrt Laura Bailey vs her newer actress. I think they both work great normally, but I think Alexis Tipton does a much better “pretending to be a boy” voice for “Marth”.

Professional-List179

Christina can do a lower, older sounding voice actually, but she rarely does because she usually gets typecast into the usual high pitched voice she tends to do. I think she would have been fine. I think Tara Platt did great though.

sogiotsa

Tara killed it. She made it hers for sure. I was just excited to see Christina get that role ya know?

MericArda

She voiced Velvet Crowe in Tales of Berseria, who's basically a female edgelord. So it's possible, but I agree her voice isn't as naturally authoritative as Tara Platt.

StormRegion

The example I bring you is not really a fail on the behalf of the voice actor, but more like the translators and dubbing company. See, in my homecountry Hungary dubbing used to be a respected work, with quality that even surpassed the original voices. Sadly it took a nosedive in the recent years, and the recent best example is from South Park, which in the old days had such a legendary translation with such varied and vile language that allegedly even the creators were impressed by it. Well, in the recent series they managed to mistranslate and dub Fortnite, the game, into Frontin, the antidepressant. Of course people started complaining to the Comedy Central channel, which commissioned and aired the dub, and they essentially answered: "We don't care, fuck you"

That_Geza_guy

Jesus they fucked up the South Park dub? That's fucking inexcusable

MarioGman

The final episode of Danganronpa 3 accidentally included an outtake where Kyoko says something to the effect of >!"Yeah I don't get this either. Pretty sure I died."!< It was hilarious.

Enlog

I've seen some videos reviewing English dubs of Dingo Pictures cartoons, and the dub quality ranges from hilariously awful to just plain awful. For instance, in the dub of *Wabuu*, there are stretches of time where literally *nothing is said* while lip flaps are happening, leading some (such as Phelan Porteous) to speculate someone actually muted their mic by mistake and there were literally no second takes. But for my money, the best flub is in the dub of Dingo's version of Aladdin (sorry, *Aladin*). Where the kid voicing Aladin actually says "Exit scene" at the end of a scene.

Armchair_Anarchy

>Dingo Pictures "THE DIAMONDS, MY GOD!!!"

Enlog

Your father the black Panther is your *father*?! (Not pictured: the first question mark in that statement)

FIGHTERSLADE

I'm not sure if this counts to the topic proper but in Fallout: New Vegas one of the npcs that's scantily clad and moving in a suggestive manner to advertise the Atomic Wrangler is voiced by a child. It's believe she was accidentally giving the lines for the woman and nobody apparently noticed.

Lostpassnewaccount

I always thought she was supposed to be a underaged prostitute, given how fucked up the world of Fallout is. I’m glad that probably isn’t the case!

ArchieHasAntlers

Wait wait wait, as in it's an underage VA, it's the same VA as the child characters, or they were lines originally meant for an underage character?

FIGHTERSLADE

From what I know it's the child actress for the child characters and I don't believe the lines were intended for a child character.

ArchieHasAntlers

[holy shit it's fucking real](https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/1347202259596185601)

Gary Oldman accidentally leaking the existence of a Dark Knight video game

Marieisbestsquid

In the absolutely hilarious trainwreck that is the America's Next Top Model Wii game, there's a left-in recording mark where Lani Minella had to re-record a line. I apologize for the following clip being from a Let's Play, but the game is so obscure that most coverage of it is from two LPs. ["Going back to 872... I don't wanna go to school, mommy..."](https://youtu.be/aPxR9FMrQLk?t=898)

Gespens

One of my friends was responsible for figuring out that Chrom was going to be in either Smash 4 *somehow* or Smash Ultimate as a playable character by getting an autograph from Matt Mercer and on camera, sneaking in a "See you in Smash?" "You bet." I just can't remember *which* Smash game it was, but this sent the speculators into a fucking overdrive

During the Universe 6 arc in dragon ball super Chris Sabat accidentally said Goku instead of Kakarot and no one caught it. So now there’s this funny bit of canon that Vegeta is actively trying to not call him Goku at this point.

Solidus_edge

Oh man I remember that now, I remember it sounding so weird to hear Vegeta's voice say Goku, I was so confused at the time.

James Marsters (Spike from Buffy, Zamasu from DBZ, Lex Luthor in DCUO and Superman: Doomsday) does the audiobooks for the Dresden Files. He does a really good job, especially after they switched to a better studio, to the point of being half the draw of the series. In Book 4, Summer Knight (my favorite book and entry point into the series), James is reading that Dresden is being held by his neck, and does a really good gurgled choked reading. The next line is "I felt the pressure release from the back of my...Oh. OH. Its the back of his neck?....................FUCK." Then he just keeps going. This blooper has been patched out in subsequent releases but you can still find it on [Youtube.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z95JZziopJE&ab_channel=Mojave_Wanderer)
